I live about an hour north of this location but found the truck of my husband's dreams online. I was able to work with my salesman, Latravis Washington, almost completely via text and phone calls. When the day came, he was kind enough to deliver the truck to me and take my trade in back to the dealership for me. A few days later, we discovered that I was innocently given mis-information about an extra key fob. This was during one of the conversations I had with Latravis while signing the paperwork. I contacted him for an explanation and, even though the deal was complete and Cox owed me nothing, they still owned up to what I was promised simply because it was fair and they wanted me leaving there happy. We took our 2017 Chevy SS for an oil change on March 17 2021. We had an 11am appointment and after waiting 2 hours for the oil change to be completed, the following occurred. Avonne pulled our car out of the service bay and proceeded to do hot laps around the parking lot at a high rate of speed. We happened to be outside to witness this and walked up and confronted Avonne and ask him, "Did you have fun?" He knew he was caught and replied, "Yes it's a nice car." We went in and asked for the Service Manager to let him know what I witnessed. Roberto said " I'm sorry that it happened and he will be talked to". After stewing about the incident all night we decided to call and speak to the General Manager of the dealership. This could not have gone worse. We were yelled at on the phone and talked down to by John. He said, " We work on tight margins and there is nothing I can do for you." "Is this is the first time you have came to the dealership." This lead us to believe because we have not purchased the vehicle there, he did not owe us anything. We specifically went to a Chevrolet dealership to avoid any problems getting service. I'm ok with Cox Chevrolet. They are a typical car dealer and aren't awesome or terrible at what they do. I do take issue with them as they pitch to seemingly every customer who comes for a service visit a replacement of their cabin air filter, engine air filter and brake fluid service. When they asked me if I wanted my air filter replaced, I pointed to the dash message which said the filter had used 45% of its life. When I asked why he was pitching a filter when the onboard system said the filter was fine, the service manager person replied that the "algorithm isn't really all that accurate".... I passed on the $75 cabin filter offer and $45 engine filter offer. Will buy them myself for $15 each at Walmart when the time comes that the onboard system says it's time for them to be replaced. read more

I've had a couple of services completed with Cox on my Corvette. After a miserable experience at Sunset Chevrolet, this dealership was a breath of fresh air. They have two Corvette certified mechanics and I've had experience with both of them. It's too bad Sunset is so awful, because they are 15 minutes from my house and Cox is 45. Sunset was never able to fix the issues I had straight from the factory on my 2015 and those issues still existed 5 years later when I traded it in for my 2019. Roger, one of the Corvette mechanics at Cox, will be the only one that touches my new Corvette and I highly recommend him to other Corvette owners. read more

I am in the industry and live and die by these surveys so I do this with a heavy heart. My wife went in to get an oil change and tire rotation. They found a nail in one of our tires that couldnt be patched. We have an extended warranty that covers tire repair or replacement. The adviser called in our claim and got it approved. However they were going to charge me the overage for the labor to mount and balance a tire. I thought to myself how much could it be? I work at car dealership as an adviser for the last 20 years so how bad could it be...... They wanted to charge me $60 to mount and balance 1... yes 1 tire. My shop charges $80 for all 4 tires. This business is all about retention, I personally was a fixed operations manager at a stand alone Chevy store where I had a 96% retention rate for 7 to 13 month customers. Your fixed operations director has really missed the mark here and really letting the owners down. I personally will never be back because of the pricing. read more

I saw a used truck online (I am in Florida but not in the Tampa Bay area) and it said to contact the dealer for the price. Going against my better judgement, I emailed the dealer via their contact form. TWO DAYS later I got a long-winded response that did NOT have the price. I again asked for the price, and a few days later got another email that the truck had not passed their inspection. OK, I replied, tell me what is wrong with it and I may make an offer. All I got in return was the same email as before. Keep in mind this took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused used car sales to plummet. The last time I bought a new car/dealt with a salesman was in December 2008, but I have bought several used ones since then, usually private party. In 2008, I was initially blown off in person. Went to another dealer and their car was in bad shape, so my wife convinced me to go back to the first one. I ended up buying there. Now the same thing has happened online. Car salesmen have a bad reputation, and tactics such as these only add to them. I ended up buying another truck out of state. 100% of nothing remains ZERO. Simple math for most. read more

The worst service I have ever had. They had my truck for 4 weeks for extremely minor body damage. No updates no call nothing. When I went to pick it up the paint job looked like my kids did it. Service department is horrible. Oil change and tire rotation, seems simple enough but I marked my tires and they never rotated them. I try to give them another chance to get my tire changed out due to me hitting a nail I get put through 2 different people and left 2 voicemails. No call back finally took it to a tire place so I'm not driving around with a nail in my tire and they finally called me back 3 days later asking if I wanted to come in. I received an email, shortly after the conversation, with the subject line reading "this is you out the door". Be weary of "incentives". While I know all dealerships try to make the incentives as lucrative as possible to lower the price, the lack of transparency in what those incentives are seems to be a bait-and-switch scheme to me. For example, they show a Bolt EV listed as $14,000 off MSRP - WOW what a great deal right?! Wrong! They fail to mention anywhere (even the fine print) that this valuation includes the $7500 tax credit which isn't even applicable at the time of sale, meaning the real price is over $8,000 greater than what they are advertising the vehicle for. Even their online "pre-approval" system made it seem as though this was the final purchase price! It took emails from three separate accounts and a phone call to finally get them to spill the beans on this misleading pricing practice. Always double check before wasting your time and gas coming to this location! NOTE: I was contacted regarding this review, left elsewhere. The GIST of the misleading pricing was not addressed. When I found out the actual price of the vehicle, it was indeed $8000 over the price shown on their website, which in turn gets sent to third-party websites, making these vehicles seem like a steal! Not to mention the full $7500 tax credit for Chevy is cut in half at the end of March. After bringing much of this to their attention, I have yet to hear back. read more

Drove onto the dealership this morning to check out the ZL1 Camaro. Immediately accosted by a blonde haired salesman yelling at me from 100 feet away. He attempted to instill doubt and fears about my current car (the one I drove up in) while still yelling from about 75ft away at this point. I suppose he was trying to lay the ground work for asking me 1000 closing questions in an overly aggressive attempt to sell me a brand new Chevrolet. After realizing I didn't really want to speak with this gentleman, he muttered something that sounded like cuss words at me and waved at me in dismissal while not even looking at me and hurriedly walked away. Having worked in car sales for Lotus, MINI and classic collector cars, I was extremely off-put by this short altercation with an overly aggressive sales person at this dealership. Took my car there as this is the closest Chevy dealership in the area. Rip off place and sales tries to take advantage of female customers. The sales guy kept coming to the waiting area to up sell me on things. He even tried to get me to replace my brakes, when I just had my whole brake system replaced 1 year ago by another auto repair shop. They tried to charge me $300 to move the seal around my headlight back in place. When I went to get my car and check their work, the seal was in the same place, and the sales guy kept trying to say "they tried to fix it but its close". I ended up getting half of it refunded. $148 to change one front bulb for the headlight on 2012 Chevy Malibu. read more

We've had good service before here but the latest time had a hiccup. Asked them to check my car before a long round trip up north. They got busy upselling me on a timing belt replacement. The whole process included a much-needed oil change. After very close to $2,000, i checked the oil because they hadn't updated the windshield tag. They hadn't done the oil change, but they charged me for it. So tomorrow, when i have to leave on my vacation, i first must make a trip back to Cox to see if theyll change my oil. I took my new truck in for a service. In doing so I pointed out that the bed of the truck was off a inch and a half and clearly noticeable. I asked Cox since I purchased the truck from them if they could fix the manufacture error, they told me it was within manufacture spec. Not sure how the bed of the truck being off that much could possibly be within spec. I have yet to find another truck with the same issue. After spending that much money they couldn't straighten the bed? I wouldn't buy or take your vehicle to be fixed there obviously their specs allow for errors. I I have never in my entire life dealing with the service department is bad as Cox Chevrolet I was lied to when they said I could have a rental car for free while they figured out what was wrong with my card which is still under warranty only to go back in the next day after the service man Ray said they needed to keep it overnight which they did and go back in the next day to pick up my car when they said over the white we're charging you for your rental and I should know it was supposed to be for free I was told that otherwise I would not have allowed you to keep my car overnight for nothing and then when I started raising hell with them they said I had to wait to talk to anybody so I went up to the front desk could I speak with one of the owners they weren't there so they gave me to a Joe McDonald who is the fixed operations director who treated me like a piece of crap told me I was only there to raise hell and I said no I'm here my car is under warranty I was told that I wasn't going to have to pay for a rental now they're charging me so so bad for me I had to pay for it to get my car at a car jail so in the meantime I was talking to one of the service guys there who I know who would not allow me then to talk to him is this customer service no it's not I will never come back again. Don't know if they saw an older lady that they could take advantage of but they found out it wasn't me because yes I am a hill racer and yes my dad works for General Motors and yes my grandmother owned a Cadillac dealership there in Bradington. read more

My husband passed away in May, suddenly and tragically and one of the last things he did for me was buy me a car. It was a brand new 2022 Chevy trailblazer. It was a great vehicle, but it brought so many sad memories that I impulsively decided to either sell it or trade it in. I went to Cox Chevrolet, explained my situation, and I think they saw a sucker coming from a mile away. They introduced me to a 2020 Chevy Trax With similar mileage on it than the one I was driving. I don't think they realized that I was just a traumatized woman who didn't really know what she was doing. I felt pressured and before I knew it I was signing my trailblazer away and drove off with the trax. It's not a terrible car, but I realize what a mistake I made and how much money I lost with the deal. When I stop at a light or stop sign, the car idols and makes a clunking sound and the RPM is at 1. From what I've read the Trax have major transmission issues and have been discontinued. It still has a warranty so of course I will take it in but I feel like I was had. I blame myself of course, but I feel that they should've been a little bit more sympathetic and maybe tried to talk me out of making such a huge mistake. Of course they are sales people and they certainly made a sale and lots of money with me. I even went back in to drop off my second key the next day and told the sales person I hated the car and had major buyers remorse big time. This review should have taken place in October when i bought my car but here it comes now. I walked into this dealership with the plan of looking at a Camaro. I was shopping because I was soon to give my VW TDI back to Volkswagen. I drove a couple of Camaros and enjoyed the car and was ready to continue shopping but the salesman and sales manager were able to put an "You're kidding me" type deal together for me. I was not planning to buy until November but wound up taking a convertible home with me. They did a great job of turning me from just looking to a customer. Since then I moved to Clearwater. On last Friday I got the warning that my left rear tire had 11 psi and was dropping ridiculously fast. Pumped in air at a gas station then called onstar. They sent a tow truck to my house which took my baby to a local Chevy dealer. I made sure that the Dealer knew to check my glove box for my tire warranty. On Saturday the dealer call the warranty provider that was sold to me by Cox and replaced the tire. It saved me a $300 bill. Thanks Cox read more

Our sales rep decided to bring the finance manager Mike Dame and he was not able to explain the mess he was about to get me into! He even asked me "you'll need a new tag, right" and when I said yes....he added it to the loan just because he wanted! Very rude and unprofessional! I hate this place with a passion. The customer service sucks. I bring my car once a month to be reprogrammed. It's a 2015 and it's constantly stalls on me on I- 75 with small kids in the car. Very unsafe. Cox is about selling car and could care less about keeping kids or my family safe. This car will be the death of us.
