The lady who runs this place is so adorable, sweet and a ray of light! We are not in the area often but by chance was this week so decided to stop by. I ordered peach scone, mixed berry scone and blueberry muffin. Our family was unfortunately not fans of the scones. Barely any fruit and unless you got a bite of the glaze tasted like flour. I've had this place in my bookmarks because it is in my neighborhood and I finally got the chance to stop by. The owner is so sweet and friendly! She walked me through all of her specials and hyped up her new menu. It seems like a small family business as multiple family members were working. I got the vanilla sweet cream cold brew, which was great! I also got the croissant breakfast sandwich, which was good as well - next time I'll try it with a bagel. This review is about business processes getting in the way - the barista was friendly and accommodating, just following the rules. First time trying Turtle Coffee since they changed their name. Ordered an iced coffee and it tasted weaker than I prefer. I asked to add a shot to it and they wanted to charge another $4 on top of the $10I already paid. I said no, never mind. The barista was so nice and explained that the system doesn't let them charge the "extra shot" price when it's after the fact. My advice to the turtle coffee is to fix your business processes to not alienate your customers. With so many coffee places nearby, why would I come back to have another $10 coffee that doesn't taste good to me? read more

I visited Turtle coffee close to their closing time, around 3:40. Although the owner was closing by herself, she was very kind and helpful while we were looking at the menu! All the baked goods are baked fresh daily by her every morning, and she gave nice reccomendations for drinks. We got the mexican mocha, lavender matcha latte, and banana bread. She gave us a huge slice of banana bread, and it was delicious! Very flavorful and moist. The drinks were also very good :) Will definitely visit again! It's very cozy inside, and there are a few booths and tables that you could sit at, along with some bar seating. read more

I've been a regular at Turtle Coffee in Crown Hill for the last month or two as I do work in the neighborhood. It is a great coffee house, with really great and relaxed staff. And it has good coffee, a full array of coffee drinks, and, what is probably its best kept secret, amazing scones and other baked goods. Also, it a very light and comfortable place to work and meet people. Lots of windows (east and north facing) makes it well-lighted place, and it has basic-but-comfortable seating and an assortment of high and low tables. It is true there are not a lot of plugs, but there seem to be enough. The do have music playing, but unlike some other coffeehouses, it is seldom intrusive--you don't need to shout over it and its easy to tune out if you need to focus, or just want to read a book. What I really like is the fireplace. I haven't seen it lit yet, but I can just imagine how that will make the coffeehouse a warm and cozy place as the days get grayer and darker. It is transitioning from being dog-welcoming to leave-your-dog-at the door but I think I witnessed why: I observed a couple near dogfights and then there are the owners who let their dogs put their paws on the counter and then let them wander behind the counter to the food prep areas. read more

I live about a 5 minute walk from here and decided to give it a try. The customer service was amazing, from both the cashier and who I assume was the owner. I came on thanksgiving with my sisters who were visiting and was grateful they were open because I needed the caffeine. They had about 6 sugar free syrups! Yes! The service was fast and efficient. We sat in chairs by a fireplace. We were there for a few hours and one person came in and said "my regular please." For me, I look for good coffee, nice staff and good ambiance. Coffee is fine, not great. There's better coffee elsewhere in the neighborhood. The staff have always been kind to me when I've been in, although I've seen a bit of "nose out" mask wearing. The ambiance in here just feel off. Everytime I've been in, they've been playing EDM or upbeat bubblegum pop. There are weird paintings of turtles everywhere. It doesn't feel like a place I want to spend any time, which is a big factor for me with coffee shops. read more

I just paid $4.19 for a 12 oz drip coffee (including 50 cents for tip). This is the price of a small latté...can someone explain to me why drip coffee is this expensive?! It's not even the most amazing drip coffee I've ever tasted (it's decent, but not amazing). To add insult to injury, there was no milk on the condiment bar, so clearly we're not paying for the baristas to keep the place in tip top condition. There were four other patrons there at the time (already served and seated); it was dead, so no reason for the condiment bar to be ignored. On the plus side, there were stevia packets on the bar, so I'll call it a draw. They have a few booths with padded seats, which was the draw for me to check this place out, because I hate sitting on hard, uncomfortable wooden chairs for hours when I need to get work done. They are also dog-friendly, which is a bonus, as is the free parking lot which makes getting here easier. I'm afraid to find out that a latté here will cost $6, but if it's the usual $4 and change, then I might come back and just make sure to order a latté instead of the overpriced drip coffee. For now 3 stars, and I hope to make it 4 stars on a subsequent visit...but that won't be until I'm made of (more) money. read more
