Now this place serves a fantastic biscuits and gravy combo. The food was perfectly cooked, the portions were big and the prices were reasonable. I have been looking all over San Diego county for he perfect breakfast spot that serves biscuits and gravy and here they do it well (plus they serve breakfast all day long!!!). We found the prices a little high and portions unusually small. Food was generally average like most breakfast spots. Ordered the "Oatmeal Sundae," which was disappointing. Unusually small bowl of mushy instant oatmeal with half banana, one strawberry, four blueberries and walnuts. Not the end of the world, but for $8.99 it was a ripoff and not what they advertised. Poor, and we did not even make it to the food. Went with my son for a late breakfast, if was our first time. We ordered waters once we finally got a waitress and got menus. She never came back. After 10 mins she came to take our order, at that point I asked about our drinks, she explained that they were very busy YESTERDAY and she was tired. I asked why she had brought drinks for other tables that came in after and I was told she was still confused from the amount of orders YESTERDAY. At that point, I did not want to confuse her any more and told her we would be going somewhere else. She then got all riled up and tried to prevent me from getting up by promising me free drinks. I've eaten here two mornings in a row. Food was excellent. The potatoes, home fries, top notch. Corn beef hash (not from the can) was very good, and not over garliced like some places tend to do. The country scramble was the other breakfast I had, that was great too. Good coffee, good service. Chatted with an 80 year old fella that was nice as could be while I had breakfast. Refried beans? More like puree with no flavor. Menu said home made sauce, el pato sauce that comes from a can Is way better. I am thoroughly impressed!! Generally I head to the coast for breakfast, but we decided to try this place. They seated us quickly, were very kind to our children and took our orders promptly. This was such a great breakfast menu! I wanted to try everything! I ordered the corned beef hash florentine benedict, (they have a whole benedict menu!) It was amazing, not too much hash, shreds of corned beef with spinach onions and peppers. The egg was perfectly poached and the hollandaise was creamy and delicious, it was enough to bring home and have it for breakfast today :) The kids meals were very large and the kids loved them. Do not eat here. This was my first time eating at this establishment and the food and the ambiance looked like the clientele, old and sorry! My wife was the first to comment on her meal; steak with vegetables. The first thing she did was look at the vegetables with this perplexed look that said something didn't look right. The vegetables looked wilted, cold and like they had sat for a while and she did not eat them. When we first walked in (a party of 6 plus a toddler) the ambiance told me this was an establishment for the retirement crowd and it looked a little run down. Ok I said, I've never eaten here so I thought I'd give it a try so I ordered the cheeseburger, that is hard to screw up right? Wrong! Both my Father-in-law and I got the same thing. The first thing I notice is that the plate was not hot and the food was warm, like it had been sitting for a while and I like hot food so this was an immediate red flag. The second thing I notice is that the beef patty is thin and looks like one of those patties you get 20 to a box at Costco, and mind you they said this was an angus beef patty. I assure you it was not! The last thing I noticed is that the mayonnaise which was on the side looked like it had been sitting out for a while. You know the look I'm talking about, it's not white with a yellow tint to it. If you've ever been to a BBQ where the fixings have been out for a while you know what I'm talking about. Needless to say I ate approximately 45% of my burger and a little over half of my fries as these were somewhat edible. The topping on top of this is as my wife and her sister were paying our tab some old man got irritable and asked if they were buying a car because it was taking too long. Perfect! Exactly what I would expect given the decor and the food I just ate. If you are in Vista spend your money elsewhere, there is just way too many options available to settle for this slop. We had been here before, service is not great and good is okay. My husband and I came in and sat in a center table for almost 20 minutes waiting for service. The first person who approached us brought our waters and slammed them down on our table, appearing to be in a bad mood. 2 new tables were seated and both orders taken before us. We had to get up and leave due to the unprofessional and inattentive staff. Overall, the food is not that great nor worth the hassle anyway.
