I can't believe I've never heard of this place until now. I wanted to try it but saw how crowded it was with so many people lined up outside. That's a sign it must be good so I ordered takeout to taste the pancakes and french toast. They were tasty but I'm sure would've been even better hot and fresh so I'll have to come back for dine-in. I loved that they serve coffee in a variety of different mugs that adds such a cozy, personal touch. The ladies working here are incredibly welcoming and kept us updated on seating the moment we walked in. I ordered the Don Juan and it's absolutely delicious. This was the highlight. If you like savory comfort food, this mashup is a must-order. So good! The parking lot is small, so they have signs asking to limit your stay to 90 minutes. It's fair considering how popular they are. I keep hearing the cinnamon rolls are legendary, but they sell out fast. I been craving a good home breakfast meal and haven't had one in awhile. Thought about going to mama KAT or dennys, but found this place not too far from where I live. It sits the industrial area in Escondido and it was quite busy. Busy to me means it's good! First thing arriving, checked in for seating and was sat in about 5 min. They have multiple waiters and waitresses, it looks like you just don't get one but you get the whole group which is nice. They already checked in for refills, check if I was ready to order and checked in to see if I was enjoying my meal. I said they are good to attend to their customers and the meal portion was huge ! Classic American diner in the middle of an industrial part of Escondido. Parking is very limited. Prices are super affordable, unseen in San Diego these days. Staff are very friendly and helpful in providing explanations and recommendations when ordering. They come to check on you often, even during rushes. The food is pretty typical diner food, doesn't try to do anything unique, but their items are all solid. I recommend the country skillet with country fries (which are just deep fried potato cubes). Definitely order the biscuits and gravy if you like them, it's delicious here. Five stars on the scale of American diners. read more

Found this place on yelp and it was tasty! It's smack in the middle of a bunch of construction/industrial buildings, so it seemed random/weird location. The waiters were friendly and service was great! What we loved the most was the tree in the corner of the restaurant next to the restrooms. They decorated it like a Christmas tree and a bunch of dollar tree looking toys at the bottom. 1 toy per kid for FREE!! It was such a hit. We sat right in front of it so it was super cute seeing all the kids pick out their own toy. I loved that! Breakfast food was yummy and we would definitely come back again! You could tell locals come in and there were a few older folks on their laptops working inside the cafe which seems so rare! read more

Aloha my friends! I was in the Escondido area and was looking for somewhere to have breakfast. The trusty Yelp app led me to the Home Sweet Home Cafe in Escondido. I don't know how many times I've passed this place on highway 78, but I'm glad I finally dropped in. It reminded me of a roadside cafe you'd find out in the desert. One of those places with friendly service. Where all of the staff know your name as soon as you walk in the door. I noticed many of the customers here were regulars. The diner style ambiance was relaxed and truly "down home" and comfortable. We were greeted immediately and told to have a seat anywhere we liked and that menus were conveniently located at the table. In the meantime a drink server came by and took our drink orders. We were given time to look over the very extensive menu and once we were ready, a server was on hand to take our order. Service was outstanding. I decided to order the Spinach and Feta Omelette and the other person in my party ordered the Homemade Corned Beef Hash Skillet. My omelette was delicious and exactly what I was craving. A fluffy egg with a light salty flavor thanks to the feta cheese. The corned beef hash skillet looked wonderful. Pulled corned beef hash and hash browns topped with fresh eggs any way you like. Both meals were hearty and well made. I was really happy I found this cafe. It's tucked away in an industrial park and is truly a hidden gem. First time I came here, it was with my bosses for lunch. I was really puzzled but once we were inside, I knew the food would be good. It was busy during lunch but we were lucky and snagged a booth. The cutest diner I've been to eat at in a while! The parking is definitely challenging and I ended up parking quite a ways away, but the food made it all worth it. We were seated right away and we started with coffee that came out immediately and super hot. I decided on a classic diner breakfast favorite, biscuits and gravy. The flavor was perfect, as were the home fries with peppers. I love the local feel and they even had a little Christmas tree with presents up in the restaurant. When I saw that Home Sweet Home Cafe made the Top Places to Eat in North County San Diego list for Yelp I was SO excited because I have been coming to this spot for years. Only down fall is the parking situation but honestly park up the street and get your steps in before a delicious and filling meal. My go to for breakfast or brunch is eggs benny and this one is on my list of my favorites in San Diego. My wife had the "Devon" Benedict which is a Benedict served with corned beef as the topper and damn was it GOOD! (She may or may not have given me a bite...or two.) What a find. Located in an industrial area lies this hidden gem. Came on a Sunday around 11:40am and thankfully we were able to get parking on the property. There's a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant and some parking spaces on the side of it. It was definitely busy, a diner with a great vibe. Love the patriotic decor, cute wall plaques with sayings and just the overall homey feel to this place. We were seated right away and the menus were on the table. Renee was our waitress and she was awesome! And the other employees there were so helpful and friendly as well. Great menu! We ordered the Tucson omelette with home fries and a biscuit, the French Dip with a side of chili, and a pancake. The food came out in a timely manner and the food was excellent! What great service!!! Their parking here is so difficult. I cant imagine what its like during the rush hour. One of the servers came out often to help us and others find parking!!!! That's how we started our experience here. They do politely have a sign that asks that we stay 1.5hpurs to help elevate the parking situation, which is totally understandable. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and it was so yummy! You can even have it with cheese fried to the outside of the tortilla.....delicious! I had to bring my wife's car in for service at one of the car dealers on Escondido Auto Parkway early Saturday morning. Thankfully the car dealer utilizes Uber to take its customers anywhere within a 12-mile radius. I normally don't eat breakfast, but since I was going to wait approximately 2 hours for our car, I requested an Uber to take me to a local breakfast spot. Checked my reliable Yelp app and found Home Sweet Home Cafe (HSHC), which had a 4.5 star rating with a large amount of reviews. This was my first time visiting HSHC and based on the yummy grub, the wonderful ambience, and the friendly customer service, this won't be my last time visiting. Next time, I'll bring my family. HSHC is located in Escondido, CA., specifically on Enterprise Street and just a short walk from either street Auto Parkway or Mission Road. Just across the street from the restaurant are WestAir, SiteOne, and WinSupply. It is on the same street as San Diego Auto Body & Paint. There is parking in front of HSHC, but you might need to park on the street depending on what time you show up. It's a popular spot because when I ate there, the restaurant was crowded and plenty of people were waiting. On the windows of HSHC are hand painted Disney characters by the owner and when I asked one of the waitresses what was their affinity with Disney, she replied that they loved Disney. HSHC is a spacious joint with table top, booth seating, and counter top single leather seating like you'd find in a diner. Loved the Americana decor throughout the restaurant, cute signage and inspirational framed art on the walls, the Halloween decor and trinkets, and the string lights and other knick knacks hanging from their ceiling. I dealt with multiple employees who served me, checked on me, and settled my bill with. All of them were friendly, provided hospitality, and were hard working. Thanks to the owners and staff for offering a military discount when I showed my veteran ID. It's always a great sign when a restaurant is packed, there are people waiting for a seat, and there's a steady flow of customers. Please be mindful of how long you stay at HSHC as there was a sign on the table I sat at asking that I dine there no longer than 1 1/2 hours. Based on the amount of customers and how tasty the food was, I respect them not wanting people to be there a long time. Since this was my first visit, I really wasn't sure what HSHC was known for with regards to food, but it's a breakfast and lunch cafe where they stay open until 2pm on the weekdays and 1pm on the weekends. I'm a biscuits and gravy and pancakes connoisseur, so as I perused their extensive menu, I gravitated towards those breakfast staples. I didn't see that their biscuits and gravy choices included pancakes, so I asked my server about a pancake on the side, which they had for a nominal fee. I ordered their 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy, which comes with either a choice of 2 pieces of bacon or 1 large sausage, 2 eggs cooked of your choosing, and either hash browns or home fries. I included a side of a good sized pancake. I loved their biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were cooked just right, the gravy was thick and hearty, and I savored every single bite. Their home fries with green peppers and onions were tasty and had great crust on the potatoes. Really enjoyed their savory sausage, which had a grilled taste and ate really well with my sunny side eggs, home fries, and biscuits and gravy. The large single pancake complemented my meal with the creamy whipped butter and not too sweet maple syrup. The combo of the fluffy pancake, butter, and syrup made that a great ending to a terrific breakfast. I've heard great things about Home Sweet Home Cafe and I'm blessed to have finally eaten there.
