Home Sweet Home is a total gem. It's one of the few spots in the area that opens super early, which is perfect for early risers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Total classic diner vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I loved that they serve coffee in a variety of different mugs that adds such a cozy, personal touch. The ladies working here are incredibly welcoming and kept us updated on seating the moment we walked in. I ordered the Don Juan and it's absolutely delicious. This was the highlight. If you like savory comfort food, this mashup is a must-order. So good! The parking lot is small, so they have signs asking to limit your stay to 90 minutes. It's fair considering how popular they are. I keep hearing the cinnamon rolls are legendary, but they sell out fast. I missed out this time, but I'll definitely be back earlier next time to snag one.

Fantastic food at this little cafe. We have tried about six different breakfast items and all were really great. Service is tops, our server was Shawna this time. A+ breakfast spot, well worth the drive from San Diego.

They have 50 kinds of mugs on their shelf for hot chocolates and it's so cute! It feels very at-home and the food is a generous amount and delicious!

I been craving a good home breakfast meal and haven't had one in awhile. Thought about going to mama KAT or dennys, but found this place not too far from where I live. It sits the industrial area in Escondido and it was quite busy. Busy to me means it's good! First thing arriving, checked in for seating and was sat in about 5 min. They have multiple waiters and waitresses, it looks like you just don't get one but you get the whole group which is nice. They already checked in for refills, check if I was ready to order and checked in to see if I was enjoying my meal. I said they are good to attend to their customers and the meal portion was huge ! I would say this is one of the better American home breakfasts I have had around the Escondido area and I would love to come back again. Thanks for the hospitality home sweet home cafe !

We have been eating here for over 8 years. It is our absolute favorite restaurant. Food is always delicious, no matter what the entre. Service is always friendly and excellent. I tried eating my way through the menu but gave up about 4 years ago. Check the specials board... always something good there... and a bargain. They will do anything your way... so if you ask for Hashbrowns really crispy... they will be. Love this place.

Aloha my friends! I was in the Escondido area and was looking for somewhere to have breakfast. The trusty Yelp app led me to the Home Sweet Home Cafe in Escondido. I don't know how many times I've passed this place on highway 78, but I'm glad I finally dropped in. It reminded me of a roadside cafe you'd find out in the desert. One of those places with friendly service. Where all of the staff know your name as soon as you walk in the door. I noticed many of the customers here were regulars. The diner style ambiance was relaxed and truly "down home" and comfortable. We were greeted immediately and told to have a seat anywhere we liked and that menus were conveniently located at the table. In the meantime a drink server came by and took our drink orders. We were given time to look over the very extensive menu and once we were ready, a server was on hand to take our order. Service was outstanding. I decided to order the Spinach and Feta Omelette and the other person in my party ordered the Homemade Corned Beef Hash Skillet. My omelette was delicious and exactly what I was craving. A fluffy egg with a light salty flavor thanks to the feta cheese. The corned beef hash skillet looked wonderful. Pulled corned beef hash and hash browns topped with fresh eggs any way you like. Both meals were hearty and well made. I was really happy I found this cafe. It's tucked away in an industrial park and is truly a hidden gem. Parking can be hard to find if it's busy, but don't let that stop you.. The food and service is well worth the visit.

I'm gonna spit 3 questions at cha real quick... 1) What is the best kind of referral? A Word of mouth referral, of course. 2) Who can you trust for a solid recommendation?? A good friend, who just happens to be a Yelp Elite for 17 years straight! And finally, what is the best kind of eatery/ restaurant??? My opinion... Hands Down, a Mom & Pop, hole in the wall! Well guess what people? Before I took my family on a 3 night trip to Escondido, California.... You know I reached out to my good friend, who is a Veteran Yelp Elite and is the one who got me interested in becoming an Elite myself about 8 years ago. Yes, he is originally from the San Diego Area so I knew he would be in the know of EXACTLY where to go. He gave me a few places that might spike my interest and of course one of them being a little breakfast spot known as.... Home Sweet Home Cafe! So on our first morning in Escondido, we headed to the breakfast spot my friend sent me. As we drove there and got closer to the destination according to the GPS, I said to wife, "where is he sending us?" Lol. Over the railroad tracks, into the industrial/commercial business area, straight towards "sketchville"... I was beginning to wonder if this place even existed and then suddenly.... There. It. Was. Upon our arrival, we totally lucked out as parking is not great here (it's a real small parking lot). And just like that, a car pulled out right in front, so we immediately jumped on that spot. As we stepped into the cafe, we were greeted and told to grab any table we wanted. After perusing the menu for a few minutes... It. Was. Game. Time. My wife had the "Devon" Benedict which is a Benedict served with corned beef as the topper and damn was it GOOD! (She may or may not have given me a bite...or two.) I myself went for their Biscuits & Gravy, which is notated on their menu as "Best Biscuits & Gravy in Town!"... So you know I had to be the judge of that! Well Home Sweet Home.... Your biscuits & gravy breakfast served with 2 eggs, bacon and hash browns made a grown-ass man cry.... Yes I cried..... Tears. Of. Joy. Yeah, I can attest that their B&G is indeed the best in town! Other than their hearty, home-style cooked food... The place definitely has that Home Sweet Home kinda feel. The staff all work together (like a family) and treat their customer the same (like a family). This is definitely the kind of place only the locals know about; we even saw a few locals roll through while we were there. So.... Let me do you a solid! If you are in the Escondido area and you need a reco. on a damn good breakfast/lunch spot.... I... Lance L. Are your word of mouth referral! You're Welcome!

What a find. Located in an industrial area lies this hidden gem. Came on a Sunday around 11:40am and thankfully we were able to get parking on the property. There's a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant and some parking spaces on the side of it. It was definitely busy, a diner with a great vibe. Love the patriotic decor, cute wall plaques with sayings and just the overall homey feel to this place. We were seated right away and the menus were on the table. Renee was our waitress and she was awesome! And the other employees there were so helpful and friendly as well. Great menu! We ordered the Tucson omelette with home fries and a biscuit, the French Dip with a side of chili, and a pancake. The food came out in a timely manner and the food was excellent! Absolutely, mouth-watering delicious! Everything we tried, we loved. So happy we were able to try this place and we highly recommend it!

If you enjoy classic diners, cozy vibes, and delicious (budget friendly) food this is your next local hidden gem! Located on a not too busy street in Escondido Is this small charming cafe/diner. Its theme is retro almost with a touch of "home sweet home" literally! The staff is amazing and very welcoming. I came in with my family of five for the first time here, based on my brothers recommendation and I loved it! Very nice staff, with even better food! Wow my sandwich w/fries was amazing! This is truly a hidden gem for the locals of Escondido we must support local businesses like these!

Our waitress gave us the best service. She was the only waitress working and she did it with ease. Super personable, funny and kind. The coffee, bacon and sour dough were delicious! Would go Back for the service alone ;) Oh and any restraunt with Slap Your Momma Cajon seasoning and 3 different hot sauces.... I'm in.

They are open Christmas Eve 5AM-11AM and closed Christmas Day!

We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. A couple of things stand out to me about their service. I was looking at the menu and was about to order. Someone behind me cut in line without asking if I was ready to order. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Ambiance (4/5): My type of restaurant. Casual with some charm. We sat at a table across from the bar. They have some cool decor, too. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no. Especially for this twist on a classic poutine. Generous portion size as I had hoped. A little more chicken would have been nice, but outside of that, very solid.

The sauce on the salad was flavorful with just a bit of zest, and they gave us extra so that was really cool. It's a really comfy place to eat with a little bit of a Louisiana feel to it.
