I go to the JohnBoy's on Canton Road. There are always healthy choices, great salad options, and the sweet tea is amazing! (I always get half sweet/half unsweet; just ask for "half-n-half" if you're cutting back sugar.) The wait staff treat everyone like regulars, and the kitchen staff keep the buffet full of delicious choices. The menu changes daily, so check the website if you're picky. I heard there's another JohnBoy's in Cartersville, I've never been there, but it's probably the same.

Hadn't been here in years, so decided to give it a try since we were nearby. The positives are the fast, friendly service, cleanliness, and food variety from soup, salad, appetizers, entree selections, and desserts. The food was plentiful and fresh with a good deal of vegetable choices as well. However, JBs is more about quantity than quality. Though the fried chicken was good and not at all salty, the turkey and dressing had me asking, "Do I really want to eat this it's not wasted?" I decided not to force myself to eat the dressing as it was not at all good. My wife enjoyed the vegetables and salad bar which kept her satisfied. Desserts choices were plentiful including ice cream, cobbler, cake, cookies, and banana pudding. I chose ice cream and banana pudding I had been looking forward to try. It was a HUGE disappointment as it tasted nasty like no other banana pudding I've ever tasted. This one gave me no second thoughts on not eating it because it was so bad. Overall, worth trying if you prefer quantity over quality plus they are nice, efficient, and clean. But make your food selections wisely as I'm sure you'll find something to your liking.

Johnboy's is everything you want and need a southern soul food, all you can eat restaurant. The wait staff were super friendly and the Hostess Mei was totally awesome how she took care of us. The restaurant was quite clean as well and not loud at all. It was nice to find a spot where my family could have great food and still hear each other. The fried chicken was super crispy and tender with the breading not overly salted. The baked chicken was super flavorful as well. The collard greens were tender and melt in your mouth good. The meatloaf was perfectly done and not too much filler. The fried rice was nicely cooked and not overly done. The Salisbury steak was also super tender. Really loved everything. My compliments to the chef for making my favorite dishes very well. We will definitely come back again.

This is my "go to" for my southern home cooking fix. The staff are always sweet and helpful, and the fried chicken delicious.

My prompt to my gpt this morning included "family owned, cozy place, food that hugs you like a grandma after a long time away, etc" this is one of the best places I've been in USA so far. I also woke up idealizing to only try new things and no repeats but I've already ordered a second drink haha I absolutely don't want to leave. As soon as you walk in they greet you and help you out, then the bartender (I came by myself so I sat on the bar) approached me with the most warmth and helped me getting something according to her experience and taste but considering my taste and preferences. The food came (quick for how busy it is 12 min) The food tastes just like a grandmas food that she's been working the entire day on it. I can't wait to be back here. Also I didn't have anything the entire day and couldn't finish my plate because the amount of food is way more than decent. Place is clean, music is great and volume even better, you can see families bringing their babies to enjoy meals here. Also everyone that works here and so nice and polite even if they're not serving you this is my favorite place from now on and I will not shut about it haha adding a picture of my drink (which we are repeating ) and plate that I'll be bringing the leftover home

We were able to get a delicious cocktail from Ashley at the bar (or Amanda or Alicia ) and sit outside while they got our table ready. And I had to study it to find something interesting. I asked the server about the Bahn MI, a Vietnamese type sandwich. He recommended it, so I ordered it. When did portions get so small?? Maybe they should get smaller ceramic plates. The sandwiches looked marooned on an island. The flavor was missing something...lime juice Maybe? The side of fruit salad was okay. My husband stayed with his usual; a well done burger. The fries on his plate didn't look good. They looked they had been made in a large batch and served up all day. I'm done with Marlowe's. Maybe it's time to just stay home.

First off, I love the history of this building... 1800s, supposedly the jail at some point long ago. You can just feel the history and imagine what took place in there as you sit and wait for your meal. The staff are all fun and attentive, and our server -- who was also tending bar that day -- was amazing! We were there early enough for the half priced apps, and weren't hungry enough for a full meal. I ordered a side salad with ranch, and we split the smoked nachos. When they came out, it was a huge portion and enough for both my wife and I. The only drawback is that they didn't have any sour cream that we could add to the nachos... It may seem trivial, but I've never needed anyplace that didn't have sour cream for the nachos. Because of that, I will give this a 4.75 stars. We will definitely be back!

Due to the openness of the dining room, it is on the louder side making it difficult to talk with folks not sitting directly next to order across from one another. Service was very good, attentive, and frirfriendly. My wife and I both had ceasar salad, filet medium rare, and strawberry topped cheesecake. For sides we had asparagus and mashed potatoes. The sides wete quite good, the best part of our meals. The salad was okay though the dressing was on the more bland side and fresh ground pepper helped its flavor profile quite a bit. For a restaurant calling itself a "chophouse" and supposedly upscale, you would think they would know how to cook a steak or use a better quality steak. Our filets were cooked to proper temperature but lacked any taste of salt or seasoning and lacked any searing on the outside. The meat was chewy rather than tender and made us wonder "what's so special about this place" where parking availability is also a challenge!? So you would think dessert would be hard to mess up, but our cheesecake was nothing special at all. We've had better tasting Sara Lee cheesecake from the supermarket; definitely below expectation. We'll consider giving it another try, but at their prices there are so many other tried and true steakhouse we much prefer.
