Loved the food and the folks here were very nice. The buffet has everything except for fried items so they cooked our catfish nuggets and fried okra to order. And there was plenty of it provided. We wanted to try an array of vegetables along with the catfish And there was plenty to go around. We even had leftovers for the next day that included llama beans, Black Eyed Peas, collards, mac & cheese, fish bites and cornbread, essentially enough for another meal, which made the price more worth it. 10 outta 10! I've been to this restaurant twice and both times my meals were excellent. The first time I went I ordered the turkey wings w/ rice, yams and cabbage. Everything was bomb! It is buffet style but the seafood is made to order. The inside is clean and has seating options. My second visit I ordered the 2pc catfish with the yams and fried okra, manna house punch and peach cobbler. The fried fish was so good and the size of the catfish were large. Goodness gracious. I cannot believe how good The Manna House was. The flavors from the Oxtail was incredible. The oily, mouthfeel every time you took a bite was incredible. I ordered the catfish with mac 'n cheese, collard greens, and cornbread, and let me just say, this meal was worth every extra minute it took to get off I-75. It's something about a meal that feeds your soul... it feels like a good preached word. That how I would describe my experience at The Manna House. The richness of the flavors reminded me of Sunday dinners surrounded by family. I couldn't get over how familiar the flavors were. I did an Uber Eats bc they have a 20% discount and the food didn't disappoint. I got the turkey wings and 2 sides. I love the collard greens, candied yams and cornbread. While visiting loved ones in Georgia, they recommends the Manna House for our Friday evening meal citing their soul food was really good. After reviewing the menu, I opted for a Turkey Wing Platter with cabbage and baked macaroni and cheese. Our order for 8 platters was called in but I unfortunately had to change my order as they were out of turkey wings and cabbage. There were 2 other orders that requested cabbage so we changed it collard greens. I then changed my meat to the Whiting after they stated their whiting did not have bones in the fish. I think the lack of turkey wings and cabbage had to do with us ordering late in the evening; approximately and hour and half prior to closing. Unfortunately, when I got my platter the whiting did in fact her bones in it. Thankfully it wasn't a lot of bones or I would not have enjoyed it. I can say that the macaroni and cheese and collard greens were delicious. The platter included a piece of cornbread that I also enjoyed. So this place has amazing reviews for a reason. The food is very tasty and definitely worth trying when in the metro Atlanta area. I was so pleased with how I was greeted when I walked into the restaurant. The people in the restaurant were talking amongst each other all while enjoying their dinner at their respective tables. The food was YUMMY.... I ordered the baked chicken which came with rice and gravy. I didn't care much for the gravy because it was a little bland but not enough to lose a star. They definitely make up for it with the southern hospitality. The collard greens were amazing as well as the macaroni. They also make a MEAN DESSERT! Once again - I'm gonna start by pointing out that 3 stars equals A-OK - so this is not a 'bad' review. Background: I've patronized this place for years and despite a lot of 'rough edges' - I've continued to do so because as a fellow minority business owner, I believe in supporting black businesses and have always made a strong effort well before the BLM movement urged us to do so. I used to seek out The Black Pages and make sure I checked for listings for EVERYTHING - from doctors and lawyers - to beauty supply shops and restaurants. Customer Service: The customer service was a bit off because I arrived at the tail end of a situation that I won't go into. They weren't unfriendly - but were definitely, understandably distracted. Not sure if this next part falls under 'customer service' - but it's something I find frustrating as a customer. As of the writing of this review - the prices on the website are incorrect. And they have been incorrect for at least a year. The Facebook page doesn't have a menu posted (or it didn't when I checked). The Yelp hours and days listed say one thing. The website says another. And their Facebook says something else. So you never know when they're open. I understand that people sometimes get too busy to update websites and social media but they haven't even personalized their vmail greeting. Adding your name and hours of operation to your vmail greeting would be a simple way to alleviate this issue. Last week - I called multiple times, didn't get an answer, so I drove over and they were closed and the hours weren't posted on the door. I don't know if they were closed due to an emergency - or if this is one of their regular closed-for-business days. Today - I called the number on their site and Yelp. No answer. So I called the number their Facebook page. No answer. I was just about to give up - tried the first number again - and a person answered, "Hello?" I asked if this was the Manna House, she replied Yes. I asked if they were still open for business and she said Yes. (I asked because of the difficulty reaching AND because she answered the phone as though I'd called her personal phone instead of an active, open place of business.) Location: they are still in the same little 'strip mall' at the corner of Fairground and Washington. Interior is the same as when I visited for the first time over 3 years ago. Food: Remember those pork chops I raved about. Before - they were thick and CRISPY. They appeared to be double batttered and deep fried to perfection. Yesterday's pork chops were thin - like the kind you buy at the Mexican butcher (and that's not a knock or a putdown - I've only ever seen pork chops cut that thin at Mexican butcher shops). They were NOT crispy. They were clearly just dredged in a little bit flour before frying. And they were tough / rubbery. I ate a few bites of the first pork chop and gave up. My crinkle cut fries were greasy and limp (partially from steam trapped inside the container), but the bigger culprit appeared to be the need for a grease change. I ate a few fries before I felt my stomach protesting and gave up on those too. I declined the drink that comes with the meal so I paid $16.00 ($15.90) for a few bites of a tough, chewy pork chop and 5 - 6 french fries. I think this spot is one of those places where you have to stick to certain items to have the best experience. Stuff that simmers and holds well like vegetables, meats with gravy and rice. I will continue to come here - or at least I'll try - but I'll stick with entrees like the beef tips over rice instead of the fried options. read more

The Manna House is an institution and is, simultaneously, a beautiful experience. I expected to drive up to the classic hometown buffet-based cafeteria, but what I found, on my first visit today, was a hole-in-the-wall and homey place that is Black-owned and operated and affiliated with the C.O.G.I.C. denomination. This place boasts some of the absolute best soul food around, and I can honestly say that the food is amazing. I came later in the evening just before they closed to get dinner for takeout, and the place was still full and jumping, yet I was promptly helped and my order was taken. I was even reminded that I get a drink, which I didn't know, so there is an honesty in their level of service and professionalism that I so greatly appreciate. They are trying to please the customer from the hostess to those who take your order to the cooks in the back, and they succeed remarkably. Expect to wait when you arrive, but expect the food to be so delicious. The greens were so good. I could swear either I had made them or a member of my family. The mac and cheese was not dry and nicely flavored. The cornbread was on point. The fried catfish was potently flavorful, hot, and crispy. The pound cake was all they had life dessert-wise, but I want to try that banana pudding one day and the key lime cake. This is not a fancy, upscale five-star point, and that is apart of it's charm. These are the small hometown food spots that really are made and run by good people who know the people they serve and who frequent their establishment, and I delight in those types of places. Get the greens and something for dessert with your orders. You will not be disappointed. Parking is ample in the private lot. I'm a fan. Bravo! read more

My daughter and I stopped here for takeout based on a recommendation. I'm a cook/caterer and I'm all for shortcuts, but at this place the only thing that's homemade was the lemon pound cake and the macaroni and cheese. My daughter got the jumbo shrimp which tasted like it was frozen fried 18.00. I had the country style steak it was definitely frozen with powder gravy. I was so disappointed, because I only eat beef randomly. I took 2 bites and trashed the rest. The collard greens were good. I asked the ladies up front which one of them baked the cake. They were very quick to tell they don't cook. One of them also corrected herself and said she doesn't cook there I will give you some advice one cook to another to another.
