RC had approached her with a flier at a gas station, informing her that his restaurant had just opened up. Anyway, I'm ordering my meal, the same meal I always get each time I go. Fried fish (whiting), collards and the baked beans (unmatched). And he goes, "What would you like to drink?".... I'm like, "What do you have?" (Assuming the usual. Sweet tea. Lemonade... I was probably gonna go with sweet tea. ) He lists sweet tea of course, and then hes like, "Kool-Aid, coke, sprite" - IM LIKE WAIT. DID YOU SAID KOOL-AID?......... He's like, "Yeah??..." Im like, "what flavor???.... "Purple?...." I had never heard of that at a restaurant, and quiet frankly, that's all I needed to know. At this point, I literally go nowhere else for soul food. I tried RC's today with my parents. We spoke to the owners, a lovely family. Some of the food is served buffet style and the rest comes from the back kitchen. I tried so many things. My recommendation would be the baked chicken, cabbage, yams, and sweet potato pie. The ice tea is a must have. Kool aid and coke products are also available. The parking lot is large. So parking won't be a problem. But the inside is small so you will probably want to take the food to go. The menu changes from the week to the weekend with Sunday being soul food day. I will be back to try jerk turkey and meatloaf. Maybe next Sunday. read more

Came here on Sunday with my family to get some good soulfood. When we walked in we were greeted and pointed to the blackboard to see the menu for the day. We ordered 3 plates, 2 drinks, and peach cobbler for a total of almost $80.00. I had the turkey wing dinner with rice, collard greens and yams as my sides. I love that rice isn't included as a side. The food was good and seasoned. My partner ordered the Salisbury steak with mac n cheese and mash potatoes. My son had the jerk thighs, mash potatoes, and mac n cheese. We all each enjoyed our plates. The restaurant is set up cafeteria style and you can enjoy your food there or Togo. The kool aid was good but the tea and kool aid mix was not. I tasted more tea that kool aid. I would definitely eat here again. read more

The best hidden gem in the area with some good southern soul food. The location is decent and the inside is small but doable. Most people either call in ahead or visit and wait for their order. Hey guys long time no hear from! I thought I'd try a spot today for dinner after an appointment and I was excited about this venue from the other reviews. I ordered the 2 fried wings plate and how can I put this the chicken lacked flavor. I also ordered black eyed peas which were good but the real let down is the dressing. Extremely bland and just not executed well. On top of the fact that there is a 2 dollar upcharge for the dressing. Not good! And it's very dry I requested gravy and it didn't help at all. Solid southern cooking establishment. It won't win any ambiance in dining awards, however. I ordered the whole wing fried chicken and it was made to order. My food came out piping hot, crispy, and well seasoned. I chose Mac and cheese and cabbage for my sides. I am the only stewed cabbage fan in my house so I eat it when it is on the menu. I did find it odd that there wasn't a roll or corn bread served with the meal. Which, I am ok with because most of the time, it takes away from the meal. I found this place by scrolling on TikTok and discovered their page. I did an Uber eats pickup and was skeptical if the food would stay hot; let's say a 23 min drive home the food was indeed still hot. I got the fried catfish, cabbage, mac n cheese main and a fried whiting with mac and yams. Boooooooyyyy that fish is fried perfectly and seasoned well. I did not expect the food to still be crispy and hot when I got home but it was. That was the best catfish I ever had! The Mac was decent definitely creamy, the yams were soft and sweet. The cabbage I could tell they used red pepper flakes to season but it did need a touch of salt. It's a small hole n the wall in a shopping center, but the food is delicious no doubt. Great service and delicious southern soul food! Enjoyed the 2pc catfish plate with broccoli & cheese casserole, pinto beans w/ cornbread, and some banana pudding. Catfish was well-seasoned, breaded, and deep fried to perfection - honestly some of the best catfish I have had. I even was given a sample of their absolutely delicious neck bones, which I had never had - tender and tasty. Service was great and most of the sides were solid. Beans were sweet with pork sausage- really unique and I loved them. Mac and cheese, collards, and clack eyed peas were all great. The fried wings I had tasted like they were fried in the same oil as the fish. Not terrible just not what I was hoping for. Apple cobbler was one of the sweetest things I've put in my mouth- couldn't eat it. The red velvet cake was awesome. Cornbread is sweet (like I like it). RC's got my wife and me thru covid & all of the heartbreak that accompanied that. We have been coming back since then. She always gets the incredible RC burger with cheese, spinach & tomato. This is a burger that is as good as the best I've ever had & I'm 72. I usually get the fried catfish plate but today I went with a 4 veg order; cabbage, greens, blackeyed peas and mac & cheese. Happy? Yes, I am. This is real food; it's not going to be 5 star perfect every time but it is going to be way better than I can do at home. If you want canned food go eat at McD's, Taco Bell, Arby's.... Just like life, somedays will be better than others - be thankful for that. I've been here quite a few times ordering the fried catfish on my first visit to venturing out and getting the wings on another visit and the fried pork chop on another. The wings are fried to perfection and the pork chop is seasoned well. For sides, I usually get the lima beans when they have em or the baked beans or potato salad. Maybe I came on a bad day? The reviews are RAVING, but the food not so much... we waited about 35-40 minutes in total for our food which is fine. I got the turkey wing w/ dressing Mac and rice. My lady got baked chicken greens and Mac. First thing first that Mac was not edible, it tasted like play dough??? We literally couldn't eat it omg what was that!? The rice wasn't fully cooked but we were STARVING so I made it work. The turkey wing was okay, 4/10 the meat was so tough. Dressing... somebody granny need to be slapped for that. $40 wasted idk who is leaving these reviews but I need whatever they had. OMG!! We were in GA for a basketball tournament and on our last day we were looking for something to eat before we headed to the airport. We've been looking for good soul food for a while. Anyway, we searched Yelp and stumbled upon this gem!! Before I make your mouth water with the description of the food let me tell you about the service. This is appears to be a family business and they extend that family love to their customers. Everyone was friendly and attentive and we felt like we were at a family member's home for Sunday dinner! While we waited for our food, we were given a little sample platter. This was in my opinion above and beyond and as a former marketing professional this was ingenious marketing 101. This allowed us to sample items they offered that we hadn't necessarily ordered. Two of those items that stood out were the jerk chicken and the Turkey meatloaf. I will confess I don't care for turkey meatloaf because it's usually dry and flavorless, not theirs. It was both noisy and flavorful to the point that I had to confirm it was Turkey meatloaf. The jerk chicken was equally delicious. I ordered the baked chicken breast, Mac n cheese and greens.....delicious!! I didn't need a knife to cut my chicken breast and the Mac n cheese was cheesy and flavorful. My husband and 2 of my kids had the fried catfish and it was crispy and seasoned to perfection. I loved that all of the food was flavorful without being salty, which is the sign of a true cook!! Although the space is relatively small there is plenty of room for various size groups. The restaurant is also clean...which is a huge plus. I highly recommend this restaurant; good service, phenomenal food and friendly people. We'll be sure to come back next time we're on GA!! *****UPDATE***** So I had to come back and tell you all about the desserts!! OMG!! EVERY dessert was delicious. The peach cobbler had the right ration of crust and peaches and wasn't too sweet, the chocolate cake was dense and moist, the sweet potato pie....omg! Perfection! The banana pudding was delectable and the pineapple upside down cake (I think that's what it was$ was delicious as well. Even if you are too full to eat the dessert right then GET IT! All of my desserts made the trip from Atlanta to Houston and were still very good, my only regret is that I couldn't enjoy them sooner!! read more

These people can COOK. I've gone a few times and loved what I had, my favorite surprisingly was the turkey meatloaf. I usually am kind of iffy on turkey dishes but this was done really really nicely. The staff is always nice, they are typically pretty timely as well, my only feedback is for them to work a bit more on their processes. It can get a bit confusing while you're in there, it's definitely a spot you have to visit a few times to get a feel for how everything goes. read more

Juicy, crunchy, and meaty. This bone on pork chop gets a A minus. Mac and cheese was made with love. Idk how to describe love, but if you eat soul food you know what i mean. It was cheesy, filling, and flavorful. The black eye peas were good. They actually had some taste.
