I came in the middle of October and even though the property was packed, I hardly saw my neighbors during my stay. I appreciate the interior of the cabins that made me want to book in the first place! The cabin itself was very clean, the kitchen had everything you needed (yes including coffee!), and the home was stocked with extra blankets and pillows. BONUS that it had a washer and dryer inside! The property is within walking distance to downtown and nearby eateries. I also had my own designated parking spot too. Although it was very chilly, I didn't use the community hot tub, but I did spend some time at the bonfire pit at the center of the property. Things of Improvement: This is my personal take, but perhaps some art prints on the walls and some privacy on the patio and near the bedroom window. Other than that, I'll be back!

The room is... interesting. When I walked in, I did what a normal person would do: explore. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms downstairs. Upstairs is the kitchen stocked with cups, pots, ovens, microwave, etc. etc. The living room is also upstair with an extra restroom. There is also a frig, in case u were wondering. After moving our food and luggages in, I pulled the curtains to the side to get some light in. The curtain rods fell on the ground and one of the curtains fell. I put up the curtain rod again and went to put on the fire because there are no heaters upstairs. When it was warm enough, I started to cook. I got the pots out and they looked so scary! Inside the bottom of the pots are all scratch up. I tried to look for a clean pot and found something decent. It was a little hard to sleep because I can hear everything. When my neighbors are walking around, I think someone is entering through the door. Anyways, I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. The room itself wasn't super bad. The fact that they forced me to stay an extra day made me mad.

She reserved 6 cabins to fit her entire party, so fam pretty much monopolized the entire area. The bench and tables came in handy during feeding time. It's only a few seconds' walk to the lake, and if that's not your thing, there's also a well-kept pool available. There's a playground for kids as well. There are charcoal grills for use if needed. The cabins are dated and rustic, but that's just part of this place's character. It's fully equipped with everything you need - towels, soap, extra sheets and blankets included. The overall interior decor gave off a 70's-80's vibe. Not complaining - just describing it on a personal level. They should consider doing a few upgrades, though (hopefully without having to raise their rates!) PET PARENTS: Dogs are allowed but there is a fee. (I believe it was $35/night.) But it's the bonding and building family memories that I appreciated most. And this place was truly a good one to do it at. We had a wonderful time!

I had 9 separate cabins rented from June 15th to 21st for a family reunion vacation. We have been…read morerenting in Big Bear for over 50 years and this was our 2nd stay at Shore Acres Lodge. Our next trip will likely require 10 to 14 cabins. We love the rustic casual aspect of Shore Acres for our quickly expanding extended family. If a place is too nice, we worry about all the children running around. That being said, there are some clear maintenance issues that need to be addressed. There were issues with the plumbing. Shower heads that were split and sprayed out the side. Or the rain shower heads that are designed for higher water pressure, so they weren't very efficient. My personal cabin, 110 Lakefront needs new faucet canisters in the shower. It was nearly impossible to get a reasonable temperature. You had to tap the cold faucet in order to change the temp one way or another. It was too sensitive to turn. Many of the windows in various units didn't open at all or wouldn't stay open. Or the screens were damaged, allowing insects to fly in. This made it difficult to cool off the cabins in the evenings. 109 lakeside had a mini split A/C that didn't even work. The coffee maker in our unit 110 lakfront had not been cleaned and was full of old coffee. The new ceiling fans with lights have a setting that turns the lights on and off randomly. It's called an away setting for security purposes. The problem though is the remote isn't clear on how this is turned off and on. So, the lights were constantly turning on and off randomly forcing us to just not use the fan and light. The grassy area in front of 110 lakefront is the area where we like to all put out our chairs to relax together and look out at the lake while the kids play. This area has some deep ruts and trenches from vehicles driving through in the mud. It's since hardened causing a dangerous tripping hazard for everyone, especially the elderly. It needs to be tilled up and leveled or filled in with dirt. Some of these issues were addressed by maintenance, and some we just dealt with as we wanted to relax and not be inconvenient with maintenance. We also had a few nights where the swimming pool, and community barbeque area were taken over by employees and their families. I appreciate a company that values their employees. Though we were a large paying group and shouldn't be competing for space with the employees. For the most part our group is pretty chill, and we would have just accepted it for what it was. Though how the trip finished is really what has left a sour taste and moved me to leave this review. The power went out about 9pm the night before we checked out. The reason is totally understandable and acceptable. But the fact that Big Bear Vacation Rentals was aware of this before it happened and did not notify us so we could be prepared is not acceptable. Just having the chance to charge our phones before it went out. We had 36 people there with a lot of small children that were scared. And we had to pack up and get out that next morning without any power. I was asking about a later checkout with no responses. In fact, the responses I was getting were not even relevant to the questions I was asking. I have saved the whole text thread. Lastly, we had some family members who had forgotten items in three different cabins. This is ultimately their fault. Though it was very difficult to get through to anyone to report it. When I did get through, I was assured that items are always turned in by housekeeping and we would be notified. But days went by with no response. I had to keep asking about it. Ultimately I was just informed that nothing was found. I can see where one lost item didn't turn up, but 4 items just vanished? Where did they go? Ultimately, we love this location for our large family trips. But I'm stuck in the middle of upset family members who are now pressing me to find a different location. I'm hoping they calm down by the time I start to book again as I do love it there. I will say that the gentleman on location there during our stay was very friendly and helpful, though I can't recall his name. This Review was posted directly to Big Bear vacations, which responded in a very generic way. Were now approaching 3 weeks away and nobody has responded further. Since my future business isn't important enough to even warrant a phone call from management with an attempt to rectify these issues my family has urged me to take this public to inform others of potential issues they may incur.

When we needed trash thrown out and more supplies, the owners dropped it off for us in the front porch without any contact. I have stayed in multiple cabins before but none felt like a true "cabin in woods" experience such as this one. 5/5 stars!
