I loved that upon walking into the main office, I was greeted by two beautiful dogs, and a wide selection of VHS tapes to play in our room! I also loved the DirectTV, the fireplace complete with firewood and fire starters, and the full kitchen packed with cookware and appliances! This place exceeded my expectations through and through. The heater did a great job heating the place up when there wasn't a fire, and I also loved that there was even a heater in the bathroom so that we wouldn't freeze upon climbing out of the shower! Shore Acres consists of 14 cabins on Big Bear Lake. It is a low-key family friendly environment with BBQs, Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi, Swings, Ping Pong, Horseshoes, Cornhole, Badminton and of course, fishing. It is close to the center of the Village and the marinas for Jet Ski and Boat rentals. It was so relaxing and so much fun for the the children that we came back for 12 more summers. Either we stayed at Shore Acres or as the kids got older, at one of the other 300 properties managed by Big Bear Vacations, a family friendly business. After having not been back for 18 years, I was at Shore Acres this summer with my 38-year-old son and it continues to be the family friendly environment we remembered. Next summer, I have reservations at Shore Acres for my 3 children, spouses, significant others and grandchildren ages 1 and 3 to begin anew or renew our family tradition. None of us can hardly wait.

The cabins are dated and rustic, but that's just part of this place's character. It's fully equipped with everything you need - towels, soap, extra sheets and blankets included. The overall interior decor gave off a 70's-80's vibe. Not complaining - just describing it on a personal level. They should consider doing a few upgrades, though (hopefully without having to raise their rates!) PET PARENTS: Dogs are allowed but there is a fee. (I believe it was $35/night.) But it's the bonding and building family memories that I appreciated most. And this place was truly a good one to do it at. We had a wonderful time!

First of all the cabin was really tiny even for just the two of us but it was very cozy. Everything was clean and pretty much everything you need in that space. One night stayed came with 3 wood bundles and a few starters which is enough through the whole dinner time.We didn't use kitchen inside the cabin at all.First time we cooked a steak on the bonfire and the second time I brought pre made food from home and just reheat it on the bonfire.Keep in mind,If you wanna grill anything on the fire you have to used Tinfoil and do not cook your meat directly on the grilled.(I think it was written somewhere) Inside cabin they provided an electric stove top,Plates and all kitchen utensils including dish soap and sponge. Both my husband and I have cell phone service just fine (Verizon) but when you're surrounded with that beautiful nature just leave your phone in the cellphone lockbox and forget about it (Just don't forget it when you check out) There were 2 electrical outlets that I saw so far inside the cabins.One was by the bed or by the dining table (Depend on which cabins you got) and another one next to toilet in the bathroom.Was it convenience? Not really but it's doable for us. Water pressure was good but used water one thing at the time.No sink and shower in the same time. There was no mirror or bathroom sink whatsoever,so get a lil creative of How you would put make up on or brush your teeth. Each cabins have there own individual parking,So don't worried about it. On the second visited there was cute deers walked by really close to our cabins.Love that! Customer service were great! Basically anything you need or any questions just text them. There was no front desk to check in or out.Before 4 pm which is check in time they will texted you the code and the instructions and then before check out time they will text you another code for check out.Easy and convenience. The drive down to the location wasn't bad, but it was pretty spooky the last 20 minutes or so going up the mountain since it was late at night when we arrived (10 PM). A huge plus for going here was that they are dog friendly. We had seen some reels of Postcard Cabins on Instagram and wanted to experience it for ourselves. Now if you like being cozy, this is the perfect place for you. BUT if you're the type of person that needs to stretch out and have lots and lots of space, don't even bother. My husband and I were interested in the tiny cabin experience and we wanted to unplug from the world a bit with just us three (me, Zach and our dog Coco) before our baby girl arrived. After we got ourselves situated, we pretty much passed out since we had been driving all day. What we failed to notice that first night was that the bed sheets had a big stain. Was it red wine or blood?....we didn't know, but I saw that after waking up the next morning. We texted Marriot (who owns the cabins) to have them changed, which they did later in the day because their staff start at 10:30AM. Our tiny cabin was equipped with a heater (didn't need that since we were warm inside) and A/C which unfortunately was not even cold. Upon entering the cabin, the door to the bathroom is on your right. The size of the bathroom (toilet and shower) is the size of a small closet with a teeny window to vent out smell. At least we get hot water for the shower thankfully. There's a small hot water tank that lives under the cabin. The bed is a size queen which is fine if you are used to that size mattress, but it was tight for us with me being 7 months pregnant and Coco sleeping on the bed with us (she's a 50lb dog). Complimentary items include: instant oatmeal, two water bottles, popcorn, 2 smokes kits and instant coffee. In the cabinets you'll find a kettle, a lighter, a lantern, cups, pots, plates and pans. Right by the cabin, there is a firewood starter kit and wood bundles. The view is pretty nice and the cabins are spaced out from each other so you have privacy. I would say overall it wasn't the best but it also wasn't too unpleasant of an experience. Maybe we'll try it again with our daughter sometime in the future.
