Arrived before 7 pm on a Saturday night - were told by the rude hostess that they had no tables available (clearly some were marked reserved but not all of the tables) we weren't offered a wait time or the option to sit at the bar. We were blown away by our recent (first) trip to the Cozy Grape! The ambiance was perfect, the waitstaff amazing, even the owners stopped by our table to check on us during our stay. We tried several menu items during our visit including the blue cheese and apple crostini, the Goat cheese pizza, the french onion soup and the creme brulee. All were impeccable and delicious! The red wine flight was top notch, as were the other wines we selected. We will be coming back on a regular basis. I cannot say enough about the Cozy Grape, the food, the people, the service. I have been several times and would have written a very good review previously. However the last time I went it had really fallen down in quality. I took my brother-in-law to the Cozy Grape and the filet mignon (which I had previously raved to them about) was not good - not cooked as we ordered and the meat was sub-standard. I guess they are down grading their supplier. The escargot was so-so. When the food was good, I never complained about the price,but now - $145 for three people - that is ridiculous. My friend came in here with her husband and four children at about 9:15 on May 14, 2016 and were treated with such disrespect they had to leave. The restaurant doesn't close until ten, yet when they walked in the host was rude about the fact that they had 4 kids with them. The host then said they would have to ask the manager if it was ok they eat there since they close in 45 minutes. My friend and her family just ended up leaving and headed to pizza shack where they were welcomed kindly and were served as they should be seeing as how neither restaurant closed for at least half an hour. read more

My wife, my son, and a group of her friends just left the Cozy Grape in Montgomery and the story they told me was appalling. Without getting into a long boring, story, I'll cut to the chase. The waitress was very rude, loud, aggressive and repeatedly used profanity (the F-word was used frequently)toward a sweet friend. It was so bad that my son got up and stood next to our sweet friend, because he was afraid the waitress was going to assault her. Our friend attempted to speak with the owner, but the waitress continued to curse and berate our friend in front of the owner. The owner was of no use and had absolutely no control over his employee. My story doesn't begin to paint an accurate portrayal of how rude and aggressive this "lady" was. After they came home and told me, I called the owner, who is some sort of foreigner, to ask what he plans to do with the waitress. His response was "I've already apologized" and refused to discuss it any further. I tried to explain to him that in a small town, a business cannot operate when it treats people poorly and that he needs to fire the waitress. His response- "You're not allowed in my business any more." Yea, he wasted his breath on that one. Please pass this along and do not give these people your business. *****My response to the owners comments******* Nice try at attempting to minimize the behavior of your employee. Your employee cursed at your customer, taunted her, and told you to "get her the expletive out of here" and in YOUR PRESENCE. And you did what? Apologized? You should fire her for her disrespect and insubordination to you, if not for her treatment of your customer. And with regards to your comment about not needing to be told to how to run your business, well, apparently you do need a bit of advice, so here it goes. Montgomery is a small town that prides itself in its hospitality, and we don't take kindly to people who use profanity toward ladies. If you can't wrap your non-Texan mind around that, I guarantee your business in Montgomery will be short-lived. With regards to your "loyal client base", please know that the sweet lady that was mistreated has a very large and very loyal group of friends, some of whom are now former members of your "loyal client base". Actions, as well as inactions, have consequences. And with regards to your "profuse apology", we have a saying here in Texas - Actions speak louder than words. read more

We drove up from Katy for Sunday Brunch and it was worth every mile! We had the Caramelized Apple & Bleu Cheese Crustini Appetizer...Delish! Mimosa's were made with quality Champagne and OJ I had the Eggs Crab & Ham Benedict...the best I've ever had!!! Hubby had Shrimp & Pesto Pasta which he said was perfectly cooked and tasty! STEER CLEAR - Food is ok, nothing to write home about. Awful service and the owners are RUDE. Their mentality is one that says "we don't need your business". Our group had a really bad experience with a waitress. When I asked for the manager she came back moments later and said "he doesn't have time to come over. He's visiting with our regulars." I couldn't believe it was true but IT WAS!!! Turns out the "manager" is the owner. I kid you not his words were disgusting and appalling. I had to seek him out and I was very polite. After explaining our service experience I fully expected him to apologize or something. We didn't even want or ask for anything FREE like many people would. (Our bill averaged $60/pp) Instead he said...."I don't take criticism well" AND "There's a reason we don't have kids menus." ...... (now we know who must have trained the wait staff) Our group was appalled and we collectively agreed that we refuse to support a business that doesn't care about it's customers and doesn't want kids there. Oh, and did I mention that our party was sitting outside on the patio.....NO ONE else was there. I recommend Oceans Blvd. Great service, much better view (over looks the water) and the food is better than what you pay for at Cozy Grape. read more

Love it!!!! Finally this area gets a quality place with quality food and staff. Our waitress Nathalie provided us with nothing but excellence. We had the fillet that was wonderful. I have not ever been served a steak and not been provided with a steak knife to cut with. All I needed was the butter knife. The sides were perfect as well. Seasonings also excellent. Went there for lunch for the second time. The food and wine were very good. I ask the waitress the vintage year of the wine I was drinking and also seen on bottom of bill said ask about our wine dinner. I ask our waitress she inform us she knew nothing only assistant manager knew details and she didn't know where manager was. The assistant manager was work the patio. She never said she would get the details for us. A party of 8 arrived at the end of our meal all priority was given to them. Too bad looks like a place we would frequently visit. Was mines and my husbands first time going there the food was good, My Husband decided to get there Chocolate Mousse for desert, As he was eating it he felt something wierd and decided to spit it out on his napkin, It was long and clear rubber looking. Called our waiter and he said that it had to be the gelatin they put in the mousse so I told him what is it made out of he couldn't really give me a straight answer and just asked us if we wanted a different desert which we did and came out fine, My whole problem is OBVIOUSLY it was a rubber glove (Looked up several different recipes for chocolate moouse and found nothing gelatin you add to it) The reason I gave it 1 Stars is because the manager never came once and apologize to us and neither did they comp us for the inconvenience of having to order a different desert, This is my issue with going to places like these they have bills to pay and give no care for pleasing costumers. Especially for how much it cost $70 without tip is pretty expensive for me would much rather go to a chain steakhouse or Cheesecake Factory and actually feel like they want me back to eat at there resturaunt again!!! read more

There are not many higher end places to eat in Montgomery so it was refreshing to find this one. I have tried it several times to sample a variety of the menu. The items ordered have been hit or miss. The onion soup has always been consistently good- 5 stars for that but I am wary to state the same for other items. I've had the trout twice and this too was well prepared. They are very thin filets sautéed in butter and tossed with sliced almonds- delicate and tasteful. I cannot though say the same for the fish tacos- the fish was bland with almost a frozen taste to it and the tortillas were dry. I was surprised the waitress did not notice I left everything on the plate nor did she ask if all was well. My husband has had the buffalo burger and crab cakes and was satisfied- not OMG- but satisfied. As for the ambiance- it is a cozy place with a mix of unmatched furniture. It is delightful to sip wine and chat. I guess for the price (it is pricey) I am expecting top notch quality ingredients. read more

Our favorite waitress is no longer here (Miss Eikenburg) and they did away with their wine club (which is why they only got 4 out of 5 stars) but this is still my (new) husband and my favorite place for dinner. Tonight was our first time visiting the adorable restaurant located in downtown Montgomery. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. I have to give this place 5 stars because everything was perfect from the service to the food. The staff was top notch and very friendly, the hostess made us feel so welcomed!! Our waitress was very attentive and on top of order to make sure everything was perfect. We felt part of a community family and will definitely return!!!! My husband and I are spending the weekend at La Torretta Resort for a soccer conference. We searched restaurants in the area and found the C. Grape. I really enjoy one-of-a-kind places, the menu looked enticing, and it was less expensive than staying in the resort so we used the on-line option to request a reservation. We were supposed to get a response via e-mail, but I'm not sure that ever happened. We hadn't been contacted before we left for the restaurant, so my advice is use the on-line option only if you have 24 hours to wait. Otherwise, call them. The restaurant is in an old house and has a truly cozy atmosphere, although it was rather loud. They also have a back porch which looked very pleasant and was less loud. I do very much appreciate that the noise came from loud voices - not background music. Now the reason I give this place only 3 stars. The restaurant puts a great deal of emphasis on it's wine service, and the menu even includes flights for red and white. The kind of wines on each flight is set, but not the wine-makers. When I ordered mine, I was told each slot - cab, malbec, and pinot for the red - would be filled by whatever was currently open (which were all house wines). The wines were all new to me and I thought perhaps a restaurant specializing in wine might have some interesting choices for the house, so I went with it. I don't want to suggest that I am by any means an expert, but I do drink a fair amonutl of wine, and cabernet tends to be my favorite. The cab I was served was not very good. When I suggested to the server that it tasted old he went to ask the manager (I believe he is also an owner) about it. The manager arrived at our table abruptly and told me that he was also drinking this wine and that the bottle had been opened only an hour ago. I told him if that was the case then the wine just tasted badly, which he noticeably took offense to. He did replace the glass with a Texas Cab (which was not too much better), but his demeanor was rather unpleasant. We didn't see him again for the rest of the evening. In the end, I didn't find any of the wines in the flight to be great. A final note about this part of our evening, when my husband and I were leaving the restaurant, I noticed another red flight left virtually untouched on the large table behind us. It seems other diners shared my wine-tasting sensibilities. As for the rest our our meal, it was very nice! Our servers knew not much about the wine they were serving, but were otherwise attentive and anxious to please. We ordered the crostini with sautéed apples and blue cheese, chicken soup, fish tacos, and trout almondine all of which were excellently prepared. The green sauce that accompanies the tacos is one of the best I've eaten and the skin on the trout was nice and crisp - very yummy. I was a little surprised by the balsamic reduction drizzled over my trout almondine, and if I were able to choose, I think I would prefer to leave it off in favor of some lemon. Still, if you're looking for a one-of-a-kind experience offering well prepared food and nice atmosphere, the Cozy Grape is a really good, if not perfect, choice. I will definitely go back. read more

My wife and I really enjoyed our brunch at this restaurant. When we first walked in there was no one there, but that was because everyone was outside on the patio enjoying the beautiful day. This place is wonderful. It's great for couples & family. I went here with my fiancé and enjoyed the atmosphere & the food was phenomenal. I had the grilled ahi tuna with rissoto and squash (special) and my fiancé has the tomatillo enchiladas which were some of the best I've ever had. We also got dessert; cheesecake & the brownie w/ice cream. Both very delicious but I liked the cheesecake more (from Cheesecake Factory). We sat on the patio which is covered but pretty view outside and it's all covered so it kept the flies out. I have to say this is one of our favorite places now. read more

Ambiance is great, food is even better. My wife got the Tuna pasta. The pasta had capers and I'm not a fan so I didn't taste it but the tuna was tasty.
