We also got a burger and the special of the night, chopped cheese, and thought it was delicious. Great portions, we had a ton left to take home. Unfortunately, the new direction feels much more canned and unoriginal--more like a Irish version of Applebee's or Outback Steakhouse than the unique place it used to be. There are simply too many great places to choose from to settle for something mundane and uninspired. The new GM has also made longtime customers feel unwelcome, with no acknowledgment or warmth when walking through the space. The atmosphere just isn't the warm, inviting place I once enjoyed. Sadly, I guess it's time to find a new favorite.

The last straw was when I went in for a single drink with a friend, early in the evening and when we got our tabs, we filled out our receipts and left our tips and went on with our evening. The next morning, I was called by my bank about a suspicious tip amount that I had recently left (aka the evening before). These cheapskate cheaters and thieves working at the bar had changed my tip amount egregiously. On one single pint, I think I paid $7/$8? And my tip amount was over $30 making my one beer almost $40. If that is what tappers has become, it is no longer that quaint and unique neighborhood dive bar that Chris and Steve had bought back in the early 2010s. The icing on the top was that one of the owners was actually our bar tender that evening. Slimey and shady and when we called to inquire, we were hung up on. Let this place go back to the dogs. At least the drunks and townies that used to call Tappers their neighborhood pub weren't stiffing the customers.

The weekend breakfast, bloodies and bartenders are awesome as we've been working our way thru the breakfast menu every Saturday at the bar. They just changed the menu so there are some new exciting things to try like the breakfast Monte Cristo but sad to see one of my favorites the Reuben Benedict is now gone. Was sooo good. My other recommendations are the Cajun hash and the corned beef hash and the blackened walleye Benedict along with the Monte Cristo. Often we sit at the bar which is really nice but you can't go wrong sitting outside especially in the evening where it seems a little extra special, especially if you're out there with a few friends like we did a couple times already. Some of our friends that lived out west a bit came out here to visit us so we had to bring them to lucky 13 and they really enjoyed it. They said what a great place and what a wonderful outdoor patio area here they have. The food is great too. And always had great service. I think we've been here about 8 times since we've moved here and at times with other friends and family and there's a lot of other places we haven't tried yet but when you find something great you kinda don't want to risk going elsewhere.
