This is the second year we have used Greenleaf zone for our fire brush clearance. They understand the statutes, and do exactly what is required. This is nice, because it doesn't leave everything stripped bare. Definitely who we will always use in the future. Last year, they took down a couple of dead trees as well. This year, they ground down a stump that had been bothering me for a while, as well as the brush clearance. Cleaned up a couple of overgrown stepping stone paths, so that makes traversing my hillside so much better. Oh! I have a very large Gum Eucalyptus in my yard. It had a very large limb that was showing signs of distress and since it had lost a another large limb a few years ago that damaged my fence, I wanted an arborist to look at it. Green Leaf Zone sent David out. He was on time and prepared. He said the limb was fine but the stress was probably because the it was so heavy. Rather than cut off about 1/3 of the tree, he suggested a major trim to relieve the weight. They arrived on time and went right to work. Very professional. Very well equipped. They didn't just trim the one branch, they trimmed the entire tree. It looks beautiful and the trimming will also allow more sunlight to hit my solar panels in the winter when the sun is lower in the sky. On top of it all, the price was VERY reasonable for the amount of work, and before David left, he gave me some valuable watering advice on some other trees on my property. I was so pleased with Green Leaf Zone's work in 2023, that I used them to do my annual yard clean up and some additional beautification work a few weeks ago. They came with a large crew so they were able to complete all the work in 2 days. I have a lot of stairs and even with that the guys maintained a great attitude while the work was being completed. I had time this morning to go on a quick hike at Pico Park in the Santa Clarita Valley. I saw trucks parked by a trail that's been closed for a few years because of thick poison oak, downed trees, etc. It was now open, the poison oak was cut far from the trail and it was beautiful! I learned this was the Green Leaf Zone brush and tree clearing group but it didn't end there. Another area a little further up the main trail, another side trail by the old oil equipment has been closed for years for the same reason. There was a second team working on that trail and like the first, it's better than what it was when it was open! I don't have "before" pictures because I thought these two trails would never open again but hikers familiar with this park will know what I'm talking about. If I had a major project around my house I'd ask my neighbor's gardener/handyman for help. However, he'd quote me one price then charge me another when he was done. The hill below my house was in desperate need for clearing. Everything had grown out of control, and I knew it was not going to be an easy task. (It looked like a jungle.) I turned to Yelp for some recommendations. After meeting with a few people, Rueben had the best quote so we scheduled a day for the brush clearance. On our scheduled date Rueben and his crew showed up on time. They worked hard during the day and given the amount of work they had ahead of them I knew they wouldn't be able to complete the project in one day, which I was totally fine with. They showed up bright and early the next day to finish the job. When they were done cutting everything down and clearing it out of my back yard they took it to the dumb. Rueben and his crew did a great job. They were polite, friendly, and were careful when disposing the debris. Even though the job took them 2 days instead of 1 day Rueben still honored his quote and didn't charge me more like my neighbor's gardener. Every street has that neighbor who seems to be allergic to keeping up their yard. Hello. It's me! So I called GreenLeaf Zone, got a really reasonable estimate consider the scope of the work and Jose came out with with a whole SWAT team. No lie. Everyone was so professional and worked quickly and efficiently. Jose even helped with getting my neighbors to move their cars so there was room for all the equipment. 4 and a half stars...I love Greenleaf. They are reliable, fast and I have always had consistent and good customer service. They have trimmed our trees and cleaned our yard for years now. They have also done emergency work during the massive rains earlier this year. I have had one other arborist come in for work on a very specific job and they commented that whomever cuts our trees has done a great job. Greenleaf is also very competitive in pricing their work. They bring a bunch of guys and get it done quickly. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars today is because i had to go around and fix a couple broken sprinklers and landscape lighting. DO NOT work with this company! They broke my patio door window , admitted to it and wont repair/replace it. They made me request 5 quotes which all came back over 3.5k, the general manager came to my property and low balled me with $300. They blamed it on a rock and refused to take full accountability. Double pane patio doors are made with argon gas to withstand changes in temperature once broken it needs to be replaced. I found this company from yelp, I wish I never found them. I live in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA I was looking for a tree removal company for my friend. My friend had informed me about this company and told me to trust them because he had used them for many years in the past and they had reasonable prices. We gave clear instructions on what we needed done, including removing tree stumps, and removing about one foot of dirt from a specific area of the yard that was elevated - we clearly told them we wanted this part of the yard to be at the same level as the rest of the yard. At the end of the project they did all we asked except that instead of taking away the dirt from the yard to level it they spread out the dirt evenly across the yard. Because they never took away the dirt, we ended up with an elevated ground level. We called customer service and they said that we were "mistaken" and the price did not include the dirt removal and this would cost more. We were both there and clearly told them to remove the excess dirt so that the ground level would match the rest of the yard. They told us "You Misunderstood" and blamed it on us. They never even considered that they could have misunderstood our request. These people are con artist and they will try to milk every dollar they can get out of you and blame it on YOU misunderstanding them. They are ridiculous and I will probably report this with a consumer protection agency like the better business bureau. read more

I had a need for a tree removal and this was the first company to reply to my request for assistance. The office manager courteously listened to my situation, as a tree fell in our yard. Initially I requested an arborist. The company made one available to our family. Our second request was for an estimate for the tree to be cut or cut and removed. Again, the Green Leaf Zone's representative was made available. The representative was extremely courteous, informative and helpful. We had to delay moving forward due to some insurance snafus, but when we do have the tree cut and removed we will certainly give Green Leaf Zone a call. We used them once years ago. They were extremely expensive and left an unfinished job. We called them for a QUOTE on a large tree removal to compare. I took a day off for this appointment. Was told they would arrive between 12pm- 1pm. No one showed, so I called and was told that the person who was supposed to come- he called the main office ONE HOUR late to say he was late. I've used them many times in the past 15 years and they always did a great job at a reasonable price. This time was different. The estimator was 45 minutes late. I asked to have 4 trees trimmed and one of them was a large pine tree. I also asked them to remove 4 fruit trees and trim the neighbor's pine hanging in my power lines. The last thing I asked for was a stump to be ground down that started growing back from when they cut a tree down a few years ago. Along with grinding that stump down I asked them to remove a few inches of dirt to level the yard around the stump. Another are area I asked them to quote was the removal of all shrubs and about a one foot of dirt from an area around the exterior wall that needed to be removed for up coming construction. They quoted me $4000 to do all of it. Way too expensive. I ended up having them just do the trees, grind the stump, and remove the dirt around the stump., For that they still charged me $2000. The next day they came to do the work, trimmed and removed the trees and ground the stump, but they did not remove the dirt. When I called them back they said that I was mistaken and the price did not include the dirt removal. I got cheated. I will never use them again. If you ever decide to hire these people get a written quote first and get some competing quotes too. These guys suck now. read more

I have a beautiful glorious Chinese Elm in the backyard. It was overgrown extending halfway across my back alley. They told me they would crown it. I specifically said not to cut it down all the way. I like the greenery and it provides privacy from the neighbors who look down from a slight hill at my backyard. They did not cut it down all the way, but close. Thankfully grows back fast. Zero stars. They charged me $1,000 for two hours work, more than double the going rate. I didn't do my homework, so please get estimates from other companies so you don't get ripped off like me.. I had a large branch fall in my yard, and took out the cable. For the quote I got, I expected them to cut out the dead branches so it wouldn't happen again, but all they did was cut up the downed branch, throw it in the truck and drive off. 2 hours total. I called and complained to the owner, and he credited me one more hour at a later date. So after we cut the tree up ourselves, I called to get my hour credit, and asked them to haul off the branches, but the hour they promised did not include a truck. I live in the Hollywood Hills and have to comply with the LAFD Brush Clearing Requirements. The requirements call for all flammable brush to be removed up to 100 feet from every structure, regardless of property lines. Green Leaf refused to work over my property line subjecting me to a fine from the LAFD for ignoring my brush clearing. I showed the supervisor a copy of the LAFD Brush Clearing Regulations showing that I had the authority to cross a property line if necessary. He refused to do my job. Last year when I didn't like the high bid for cutting down a tree, the lead man told me he would cut it down on the weekend for half the price. Their employee's think nothing of screwing their own company. read more

Here's an example of what to watch out for, should you be stupid enough to hire these people: I requested that they clean up the palm trees (I pointed to three large palms) and trim back the banana trees. They surreptitiously listed two palms with specific names on the contract and left the taller of the three trees untouched. Since I'm not an arborist I didn't notice the omission. Then they cut back the banana trees and left all the dead leaves on the remaining banana trees. When I called back, after paying in full, and asked them to finish the job, they simply told me to read the contract. In other words: "GOTCHA!!" If I had the time, I'd sue the crap out of them. I had tall Canary Island pine trees, which were banging against eaves of roof, crushed gutters, and Fire Dept. was concerned about fire hazards. I contacted several companies for prices. One quote was enough to buy a car. Their plan was to remove most but not all of the trees. They would return in 2 years to remove the remaining trees. Green Leaf Zone gave price which was very affordable, they brought in trucks and tractors to lift and remove all the tree trunk sections. They were finished in 3 days. GLZ suggested not replanting areas trees had been. I do not have to constantly climb roof to remove pine needles from roof and gutters any more. My burden was lifted.
