Matt stopped by this week. We had a 1:30 pm appointment. He arrived almost an hour late. I told him I had a virus and showed him: "Hacktool:Win32/autokms File:C\windows\system32\sppExtcomobjpatcher.exe" "Oh, that's not a virus". In fact It's a very malicious virus and anyone can google it to find a host of issues it can cause. I've had it for an extended period of time and know first hand. He plugged in his USB that he had around his neck and uploaded a file. He did not tell me what it was nor did he show me what he uploaded. Most importantly he never asked beforehand. Second, he deleted a small group of program files. He did not tell me what he deleted. He did not show me what he deleted. Lastly, he never first asked me first. He switched off my internet security protection and compromised my computer system and left it that way until I discovered, after he left, it had been turned off. Matt saved files from my wife's long dead Compaq laptop; recovered files from my (burned-out motherboard Alien) laptop and transferred it to a new computer, one I purchased after his recommendations. He even recommended and set up a TV router that is noticeably faster than Spectrum's that will pay for itself in a year. If he didn't have an answer himself, he made referrals, such how to recover my old school 1980s hard drive. Matt August arrived on time to repair my 12 yr old son's year old PC. My son was not turning it off correctly and had not done the appropriate software downloads to stay the least. Matt performed a System Defrag and general clean up to start with. My son had complained of glitches when gaming in visual and audio. Matt then suggested a dedicated Wired Router for my sons room. With Matts help we purchased a very reasonable Router and a couple of cords from Amazon and scheduled the install for a couple days later. The second time Matt arrived promptly and worked amicably well with my son in his room, answering all of his many questions while certain downloads were being conducted. My son took a real interest in the computational operations of his PC. So Matt recommended an upgrading and repairing beginner book that I have since ordered for my son due to his peaked interest since Matt's visit. Matt was extremely patient and taught my son what he needed to know to properly care for his PC going forward. Multiply the 5 stars by THREE and it still won't be close. I had to split from my/our computer "doctor" of the past 14 years and I had desperately hunted for 6 months. None of my friends could supply anything even close.) My 10 year old IMac began having issues. Seemed like it got some malware and began running very slow. Jumped on Yelp. Put in request for computer repair. Matt at CPUExpress quickly responded via text. I gave him a quick run down on the problem and we set a time for him to COME TO ME to fix it rather than me taking it to a shop. WONDROUS! Matt came. He saw. He CONQUERED! My IMac fought valiantly to remain shut down and full of its version of COVID-19. What stood out to me was Matt having to take it to the next level because that ol' IMac was not giving in. He had to take it home to take the next steps. I was very unsure, mostly convinced that Matt had met a "faster gun". Well, let it be said that Matt August is the gunslinger of computer repair guys.
