This guy literally told me it was going to be $50 for a diagnostic on my computer to see what was wrong with it and then when I came to pick it up said it was $150. Ridiculous. I was so mad i just paid him to get my computer back and left. Will NEVER be coming back here again. Your word as a provider is literally everything and he broke that trust. I have a midi/synth keyboard that had a broken crossfader for the loop patterns which is the most important part of the instrument. I called one computer repair place after another and this was the only one that offered circuit board repair I could find. And he did a good job. He's pretty handy with soldering and desoldering. Be careful . I knew something was wrong when I dropped off my Mac book pro and he only took down my first name and phone number. I paid $180.00 so he could diagnose my Mac but did not give me a receipt for that. I put my best judgement on him and figured he was credible because of his five star rating. After almost three weeks, I called him to find out what was going on and he told me to give him a few more days so I did. He called me back almost two months later and it was then I told him I will he picking it up soon. And that was that. My wife and I had a baby not soon after,and we also moved to another city so life had me busy with that. It has been five months since telling him I would come and get it, when I finally had the chance to go retrieve my laptop, so I gave him a call yesterday. He told me that it has been too long that I hadn't come in and he decided to sell it. On no ground did he have the right to sell my laptop, on top of him not reaching out trying to communicate with me on the status of his intentions. He is unprofessional and I personally will never return for business or in any matter recommend his services to anyone. It was my mistake to trust his credibility. And if you choose to do business there, you will quickly see what I mean as he is impossible to even understand when he speaks. Good luck read more

Sad to report that Norman is no longer working here. I will miss him. I took my PC in recently because it was slow. It was clearly a software issue. It was pretty obvious that my machine just needed some scans and repairs to the software. The new technician told me that my hard drive was bad. My computer is under 2 years old so I found this hard to believe. But, I authorized the repair ($180.00) based on my trust and previous positive experiences. My machine was no better when it was returned to me. I was told everything would be fine. It wasn't. I took the machine back and was told that I had malware on my machine. Well, yeah! - That's what I brought it in for in the FIRST place. Anyway, they offered no further assistance and sent me on my way. I am not comfortable bringing my PC back a third time, and I did spend $180.00 already, so I will have to find another repair shop. I no longer will be going to Simi Computer. My laptop had keys that didn't work and the board was replaced. I was very happy with the work. So, I brought my PS3 in because my children had stuck a disc in incorrectly. I bought a Sony Vaio laptop here because of the great price. Little did I know that when I finally tried to ADD a program to the computer, it wouldn't let me! The laptop kept telling me that something was wrong and that adding any programming via the DVD drive was not gonna happen. I took it back to Simi Computer Center and the guy there said that he wouldn't honor the fact that I bought it there, so I'd HAVE to pay for any repairs! He looked at it and (this 'computer expert') was stumped. He suggested a brand new DVD drive HAD to be installed at $200. I asked, "Why can't I just buy a new external one for $20 on Amazon?". "Oh, they won't work on this", he replied. I took my laptop home and bought the $20 external drive anyway....which DID work....but did NOT solve the problem. However, when I Googled the error message and codes, believe it or not, I found a simple solution with a YouTube tutorial video! Five minutes later my laptop was fixed and I could install any program I wanted! This guy at Simi Computer Center not only DIDN'T know what he was doing, but tried to charge me $$$ for something that WASN'T even the problem!! I'll NEVER go there again!!! read more

They did the impossible and got my Mac G4 Powerbook working again in 2015! It had "died" on me around early 2011, and I had taken this laptop to at least 4 different Mac experts who told me that there was nothing they could do, yet they had no idea what was wrong with it. I went to Simi Computer, to drop off for recycling, I had given up hope that it would ever work again. Lawrence the tech on staff said he could look at it and possibly fix it, worst case scenario he could at least retrieve all the data (which was a lot of graphic design files). So I left the laptop with him, and about a week later I was told it was working again. It was a connection issue that he resolved. I couldn't believe it, but here I am working on my laptop G4 Powerbook, with it's fully loaded graphics programs. Not only was Lawrence able to fix the laptop, when other "experts" were sure it was not possible, but the price was very reasonable! Thank you for fixing my laptop! I have taken my desk top to Mark several times for lock up problems. Dr. Mark fixed one in seconds at no charge. The second time it was more work and he charged me his nominal fee. Both times I was completely satisfied. Several months ago, I had a sign in problem with my long in the tooth updated Win 7 to 10 computer. I asked Mark his honest opinion, should I fix it or get a new computer. He said if were my money, get a new one. Bottom line I bought a great refurbished Win 10 computer from Mark for a fair price with a 90 day guarantee. Very happy. I am 76 years old and wear an eye patch and are a little unsteady on my feet. Complete waste of $60. Brought in my new build to see if they could figure out why it wouldn't boot. After 2 hours they called me back and indicated the processor was not working. Drove all the way back to Fry's, where they quickly determined the processor was fine, and that the real issue was the graphics card and a hard drive. After calling the store back to indicate their diagnosis was completely wrong, they refused to grant either a full or even partial refund. So I basically threw away $60. read more

I only put one star to get on here. That's far higher than this guy deserves. Beware, looks good, and is anything but. He's very dishonest. concerned only about getting money and not the job he does. I should NEVER have gone back. Here is my story, and last communication with this guy. Norm, I put a cashier's/bank check for $150 in the mail yesterday. You should have it by today. It is $25 more than I offered to pay for a job that was less than half done. This is the second time, out of four, that I have come to your store and been jilted. Time-before-last you sent me home with a computer cord that was not the one I brought with my computer, but which had been cut in half and taped. This time, you took my computer and told me on the phone it would cost $50 for a laptop keyboard and $40 to repair, and said $90, not more than $100 to repair). And you said it should not be a problem, since I was using an external keyboard on the laptop and it was working fine with the external. When I asked to have my electrical receptacle repaired, also, you agreed and called me two days later to tell me the whole job would cost $200, not more than $250. I hesitantly agreed, then asked about a loaner laptop while I waited, and when I came to pick that up your partner told me it would cost me a $150 deposit. I declined. And then you told me the first keyboard did not work properly, and that it would require a second. When you put that on, you called and said my computer was working properly, now, and I could come pick it up. I paid you with my bank card, which went through at the time and I signed the receipt I called you the next working day, a Monday, and told you it was not working, that the punching any key would make it just continue to type on its own. You told me it must be the motherboard, then, and would do nothing to make right the fact that you told me it was fixed, when it wasn't. Ah, then you called me back to say my card did not go through. I was quite happy and had considered not paying you at all, since you failed to check your repair, tried to take my money and send me home with a dysfunctional computer. I called and left a message saying I would split the difference, since the receptacle had been repaired and to give you $125. You pretended that you did not get my message, but called me by my name, which I left on the message, and tried to threaten me with the law. LOL! Well, you called back a couple of days later and told me if I paid $150, because the keyboard repair was not successful. I have, against my better judgment sent you the $150, because I am an honest man. I wish I could say the same for you and your business. DO NOT HARASS or disparage me ever again. If you do, I will file suit and make sure your reputation is also known in the community. DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN. This matter is closed. Jeff read more

Don't go into this store! Don't even think about it! Their service is horrible. They were highly recommended. I was told they were really good. Don't bother, though, there are plenty of other places to get your computer fixed where they won't treat you like you're an inconvenience. I've had to go there five times and only once did they open anywhere close to on time. They are not good about answering their phone, they do not call when they tell you they will, they do not return phone calls and even if you make an appointment with them, you'll be lucky if they show up on time. These people should not be dealing with the public! If you need your computer repaired, or need a computer, do yourself a BIG favor and go someplace else! read more
