Well it's the mud bug season and the wife wanted to find a place close to home so we decided to try the Crab Boat. Did a mix of shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, corn and sausage. Being first timers we went with the mild version of Cajun seasoning. This place does boil in the bag which isn't as good as broiled in the big pot. And the mild version of Cajun left my lips numb. Was ok for a local but It's not the best that I have had in Jackson. Shrimp was fresh, sausage was very good, the crawfish had small tails with little meat. This was the worst seafood I ever tasted. I paid $60 for 1 claw of crab legs, 20 shrimp, 1 potato, & 1 corn. I couldn't believe how small the bag was. I felt like I had been robbed on camera. I asked for a refund. Of course I was told they don't do refunds. They literally charged me $10 for 10 shrimp. I came here to review this restaurant so no one has to waste their time or money at this place. Please drive to Ridgeland and get a pan of delicious seafood from Mighty Crab.. This food literally tasted like watered down garlic water. I could not let them rob me in peace. I pray this review stop someone from wasting their hard earn money for garbage. Went to Crab Boat on Sunday February 16, 2025 to do a pickup order Spicy Turkey Necks Bag price $16.99 garlic Butter Mild $1.50 plus 3% for using credit card total $20.37 and tip them $3.00 total $ 23.37. The turkey necks was small round cut up put Your thumb and pointer finger together that is how round they where not as I expected did not taste the garlic butter I could have save that $1.50 for garlic butter the sausage wast sliced thin I got 5 pieces. One piece of corn I did not eat and 4 potato. read more

First off this was clean and nice inside. The wait staff was very polite but there was a language barrier. I would have never guessed an Asian run Cajun restaurant. The crab was good but the gumbo and étouffée had to be outsourced. My shrimp poboy didn't seem to be fresh either. I would say that the food is average for the price. Thank goodness for a seafood place that opens late. I get off work around 9, so I was glad to hear that this place is open until 1030pm. We ordered the 5lbs special, 5lbs of crawfish, includes corn, potato, and sauage for $23, that comes out to $4.60lb. You can get the crawfish boil mild, medium, or spicy. The crawfish was so fresh, the easoning they used on the crawfish had a touch of sweetness to it which I enjoyed. We also ordered the crab platter, 2 clusters, corn and potatoe for $25. Garlic bread isn't on the menu, but you can order a side of garlic bread for $2. The place is spacious, surrounded by big screens that were featuring sports, and different beer selections. My time at the Crab Boat has been nothing short of great! The servers are kind, welcoming, and timely. The seating is comfortable with room to have a larger party if need be. Me and a friend each ate one and agreed that they would probably make us sick because it seemed they had sat out for awhile and were no good. I stopped by Sunday night for some Boiled Crawfish and the shrimp and steak bites. I thought I'd get some potatoes and corn but it was not included. The shrimp and steak bites came with a huge French Fry serving with a cup of slaw. Crawfish were ok but in the small side. 6 fried shrimp .. 20 ribeye steak bites... very good ...cooked perfectly medium rare. The crawfish season is very early so that will get better and bigger. I ate at the full service bar which has TV's. The service was great. The Blue Moon was cold. I'm going back to try more dishes in the near future They also have a large private conference room with tables and chairs ...a big screen TV and internet hookups to host lunch or dinner events. Wow, that was the best crawfish boil we've ever had (we've tried crawfish all over LA), and the service is amazing. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly and deliciously juicy. Every single one peeled easily, which isn't always the case. We loved them so much that we ordered another 2 lbs to eat there in addition to the 5 we already ate and then ordered 7 lbs to go! They do have boiled crawfish, shrimp, and crab available but that's it. No red beans and rice, no jambalaya, no crawfish etoufee. This place might be a seafood restaurant, but it is not Cajun. I would compare it to a Captain D's, Long John Silvers, or Shrimp Basket. Quick service and nice inside with plenty of TVs and seating. The crab boat was amazing. We tried crawfish, shrimp, crab legs, green and black mussels. I also ordered a lobster tail. The food was great with plenty of flavor and just the right hit of spice. I visited during the soft opening and really enjoyed myself. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because they need a few more servers to make service faster. No other complaints. It was ok. We went there bc I really wanted crab legs and it's hard to mess up the flavor of them, but I got a pound of snow crab, 1 potato & 1 corn for $38! There are places in town cheaper than that for sure. I'm pretty sure I didn't get a pound either. The legs were really small and one of my clusters was missing 2 legs. My whole meal came in a clear plastic bag so I had to get really messy just to get to my food. They charged $1.50 for the garlic butter seasoning which I found strange. They did not offer the small forks to get all the meat out and the bucket they give you looks like something they store cleaning products in. I just wasn't impressed. My husband got steak & shrimp and it came in a small bowl with soggy fries on the side. The steak was over cooked but shrimp did have a good flavor. We probably won't be back. This property appears to be cursed. It used to be a blockbuster and has had a number of restaurants open and close since BB shut down. It is now a Cajun restaurant owned and operated by a Chinese guy. There are mops and buckets by the condiment table. I ordered a combo, half shrimp and half oyster poboy. The poboy came out with 2 oysters. I thought they messed up and gave me a shrimp poboy but the waitress pointed out the 2 oysters. I asked her to check with the kitchen and she disappeared. I flagged her down later and asked if the 2 oysters were normal and she said that is normal. It wouldn't have been so bad if they had not upcharged me $2.00 for the oysters. I guess that is my last trip to the crab boat. You might as well pass this place up or hurry and eat there because it will be closed in a few months. read more

Big disappointment! First, with Cajun in the name one would expect some Cajun spice in the food, but no such luck. My wife ordered a chicken garden salad which came to the table with a ton of iceberg lettuce, with a few unseasoned pieces of chicken, a few cherry tomatoes, pickles, and olives. I just can't say enough good about the Crab Boat in Madison. The service is always friendly and exceptional. I am a Coast boy and this is as close to a homestyle Gulf Coast restaurant as you will find. It is nice but not fancy, the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. Had lunch there Friday and brought home a pound of boiled shrimp for supper. The shrimp were cooked just right and even though they were still in the shell they were deveined. Wow! We've eaten here once before and were pleased. Thus time we emphasized to the server my wife needed it to be MILD. She couldn't eat a bite so they tried again. There was so much garlic in it (she asked for garlic butter) the shrimp and corn were coated with pieces of it making it spicy and inedible. My meal was great but then I asked for hot and spicy.
