The food is good and the service is good, what more can I say. We drive an hour to go to this restaurant because we've had such excellent experiences. Their steam pots are first right and the quality and amount of food is very good. I've also had their oyster Poboy and my wife has had their lobster roll. We were very satisfied with both. This Crab Dujoir is 1000000x better than the Roanoke one! It was not too busy but enough in there. However you aren't over top of one another and can hear everyone's convo! Our waitress; Stephanie was extremely nice!! Our food was exceptional. It's also bigger than the one in Lynchburg. Their menu is a tad bit different but not extremely. If you like to drink their drink menu has more items. Bigger bathroom and very clean! They don't try to oversell and you get exactly what you order for. We had a great meal here on Friday, May 12,2023. The food was hot and more than plentiful and we thoroughly enjoyed every last bite of it. Why the three stars? The service! While we were greeted and seated promptly, our server seemed more concerned about things going on in the kitchen than offering us attentive service. We ordered garlic bread. It came out promptly, but we had to ask for silverware. Exasperated, our server (I'll call her "M") walked off and only brought us forks. Not wanting to enrage her by asking for knives as well, we used the ends of our forks to butter our bread. When our food arrived (again, it was quick) she served us and walked away. She never checked on us to see if we needed anything, how our meals were, etc. when she finally did show up and ask, her exasperation was evident when we asked for some cocktail sauce and melted butter for our crabs. It took her forever to bring us these items. Now I should also interject here that neither of us are drinkers. We may, on occasion, have a cocktail when we are out, buts rare that we do. And perhaps that's why she basically wrote us off. The tables around us were all drinking and she spent a lot more time with them, laughing, bantering, making suggestions, etc. hmmmm, I see a pattern here... As we were finishing up our meal, I had asked for to-go boxes (as mentioned before, our Combos came with a LOT of food) as we had a lot of food leftover. She scurried off and returned about 10 minutes later with one tiny little box she dropped off at our table while she walked to one of the other high-drinking tables. You get the picture. Little Miss M simply chose to not waste her time on two senior citizens whose bill wouldn't break $100 and instead, turned her sights to other tables that did. What Miss M didn't know is that we tip accordingly and are always known to be very generous tippers. Not this time. We were beyond thrilled with our food, but the service at Crab du Jour is inconsistent at best. When guests are made to feel like their requests are viewed as pesky interruptions, perhaps it's time to take our money elsewhere. We'll probably be back, but no time soon. read more

The service here was exceptional. I appreciate how quick food was brought out. The calamari appetizer was good - hot and crispy. The crab po'boy was full of flavor and crab! Horrible! The crab cakes were wet and fell apart they had a terrible flavor (and I've had many crab cakes in the past)I took a bite and couldn't take another. The shrimp and fish was over cooked. Rubbery shrimp the fish was slimy and a lot of grease. The crab fries had cold crab on top with a dressing that was very sweet. We did tell the waitress theat the meal was not very tasty and we could not eat it.. the manager came to the table, saw we hadn't eaten but a bite and gave us half off a meal we couldn't eat.. would not go back again read more

I brought my veteran friend to celebrate their graduation. Big mistake, don't bring your family, friends, or loved ones to this seafood place. Unless you want to go broke for small portions, mildly cooked food, poorly mixed drinks, and water that taste as if they got it from a river. Unfortunately, I was met with a very rude female manager. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I did nothing but ask a question which was, "Can I get a different drink because the one I requested was very nasty to me; I will pay for the drink if not and just get another one if that works for you." A manager came to me with a stank face and told me that I could not get a new drink and would still have to pay for the one I asked for, which I had already said I would anyway. Mind you, this was my second drink, so I was in no way being mean or rude; I had just asked a simple question. There was no need for her to come over to me and my friend acting as if we were just some super drunk pain in the but customers. We did nothing wrong but ask a question, so if you want seafood with a side of super poor service, smelly bathrooms, and weird-tasting water that needs alcohol to chase it down, be my unfortunate guess. It wouldn't surprise me if someone there got sick because of the poor management, which reflects on the staff, which means poor hygienic upkeep. read more

Crab du jour is the best seafood in VA they had everything that I liked. And they had the king crab that is the best seafood I've ever had.

This was my first seafood boil in a while and I missed that juicy potato, corn, and crab combo. It's hefty, affordable, and tasty. Our waitress Jessie was absolutely amazing and gave us tips. The service was good however the food left much to be desired. We ordered the scallop basket and no one had caught that it said "backet"on the menu and a fried oyster basket to split so that we would each have some oysters and scallops. The coating on the scallops was way to thick for our taste. The oysters had a lot of breading on them too. I ordered a side of cole slaw and it was the size of a small to go cocktail sauce container and they wanted 3 or 4.99 for that and it wasn't but half full so I sent it back. The sweet potato fries were not as good as the ones you get at Red Robin. We don't plan on going there again. Too much money for mediocre food. Blech... After looking at the menu and seeing how expensive this place is, I went with the fish and french fry basket. Took a bite of the fish when it arrived and it was really thin, greasy, and squishy. I told my wife that this fish is weird and not at all what I expected. I took a few more bites and was done. It was that bad. Asked the waiter what kind of fish it was and he said it was catfish. Blech...no wonder I didn't like it. I told him had I known it was catfish I never would have ordered it. Seriously disappointed in this restaurant. Was hoping Roanoke would have a great steam and boil place. How can it already be so tired and old on it's grand opening? Everything about this restaurant screamed CHEAP to me for what they are charging. Like the previous reviewer, portions were definitely on the skimpy side. I've eaten a lot of 1/2 lb of snow crab legs and I'm absolutely sure what I got was less than that. I ordered my steamed combo on full-max spicy, and my lips weren't even tingly when I finished. As also mentioned, drinks took a long time to arrive on a Wednesday mid-afternoon. (They substituted a wine brand that was 2x the cost of the one that I ordered without telling me.) Was also disappointed that, in the 5th wave of a pandemic, none of the staff was wearing a mask (except for one person) -- even though the Virginia Dept of Health is recommending masks for all indoor gatherings. (If they don't care about my health outside of the kitchen, what are they doing behind the swinging doors?) Won't be back here as I don't see anyone trying to please, we were mis-charged, the portions were small for the price, and when someone orders max-spice, it had better at least make your nose run a little! read more

Don't waste your money! I literally downloaded this app because of this place. Mixed drink- almost no alcohol. Hush puppies were terrible. How do you mess up hush puppies?? We had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant in their new Roanoke location, as we have enjoyed visiting similar restaurants in other communities. The renovations of the building are impressive and the staff were very friendly. The menu looked good, and we had plenty to choose from. When our order arrived, it was pretty underwhelming. We had started with the Crab Bisque, which was delivered quickly and was actually pretty tasty. The entrees, not so much. The Fried Shrimp and fries were not well seasoned and the "special" crab sauce on the fries was cold when delivered. The Crawfish Bag meal, ordered with Cajun seasoning had an oddly plasticky taste and was not very pleasing to eat. For a subpar meal, we received a check totaling nearly $50. We will not hurry back, if we return at all. read more

Was there for a double birthday dinner. This was bland at best. For the prices Crab Cakes were out of the box. Wings were weird with really dark meat so my son didn't eat those and he loves wings. Service was not very good. Waiter was overly chatty and we were the only table in a back room out of view. So when our entire table needed refills I had to find someone who wasn't our waiter to get drinks. We have one check of 4 and one check of three and gratuity of 15% was already added. I had the snow crab legs. They were hard to get into because the shells wouldn't crack. Not enough to make a meal of. Friends had the fried shrimp and chicken wings. Something was wrong with them (besides being skimpy size), and both reported stomach issues later in the evening. For these kinds of prices, the food had better be cooked properly, and the serving size should be adequate. If something doesn't change here soon, I don't expect this place to be around long. read more
