Great food made to order type restaurants. Mac and cheese will compete with the best. Great menu choices. Amazing specials.

I order food through door dash normally if the restaurant don't have what you won't they will not confirm your order! This particular store on Irvington Ave maplewood nj confirmed my order then sent that my order was ready for pickup I get here the last janell tells me they don't have crab! Like excuse me? This place is very unprofessional I will never come back here again I am going to write a review on yelp as well and also from my other accounts this will not be flagged because I will keep coming back! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

Honey garlic salmon & steak w/ rasta pasta

I really cant see why the ratings on this place arent higher. Ive been to both this and the Orange location a handful of times and never had any negative experiences. My food was always good and the service was great. Parking at the Kennilworth location is a little spotty because its in a residential neighborhood but its not too bad. I love their rasta pasta and the honey garlic salmon bites. The pasta has a nice kick to it but nothing crazy. The one thing I could complain about is the hookah. I don't partake so Im not too keen on people sitting near me with it while Im trying to enjoy my food. Happened my very first time dining here, guess Ive been lucky enough to avoid it. Id definitely recommend trying it out despite the ratings. Ive gotten a few people food from here and they enjoyed it as well

    Lobster meal (not fried)

I was hesitant to place an order because of so many complaints about a long wait or mess ups, but I love spending my money at Black owned businesses and decided to treat myself to lobster for my birthday. I ordered directly from Crabbae through their website and you wait for a call to let you know your order is ready for pickup. I was a bit anxious as to getting a call, but I guess just trust in the process! I do hope they can upgrade this to a text/email/electronic notification system in the future. The estimated wait time when I placed my order was accurate and I received a call shortly before that time. I went to pickup and saw a sign that it was cash/CashApp only. I was planning to pay in cash, but they should let you know prominently on their menu so you're prepared before you show up. Upon entering the pickup area, I was concerned about my food. It's a small, pretty run down front room- pickup only, no space to dine in. And you don't see any part of the operation or kitchen- this is usually a red flag for me with restaurants as if they are hiding some gross kitchen area. But, I hoped for the best and gave the benefit of the doubt that they are probably doing the best they can with the space they have. Running a restaurant can be expensive, so hopefully they will eventually refresh the waiting area to make it a better experience because it really looks like a dive- and since you're not getting cheap food, I think it shouldn't look so shabby. My food was in a container that kept the heat, so my food was hot when I got it. For $50ish I got 2 lobster tail, several shrimp, rice, corn, broccoli, potatoes. Enough to feed 2 people, so I think the price is a good deal. Now the food: good, not great. Heavily seasoned, so at times a little salty but good flavor. Broccoli and Lobster were overcooked for my taste. The shrimp and corn were perfectly cooked. The rice was better than I expected. Would I go back? Eh, maybe. Only if I were in the area and other people want to get food there: There are other similar seafood concepts closer to my house. But, if you're closeby and plan ahead for your meal then try it! Don't expect it to be quick or for the place to look nice and you'll be fine. The food is straightforward and I wish them much success.. They recently opened another Crabbae in Kenilworth and I've seen the owner on Instagram- best of luck and keep at it!

    Broiled Lobster & shrimp special

I've been to the location in Kenilworth so I figured I'd try this location. This establishment indicates the location is in Maplewood. It borders Irvington...not the best area IMO. I wouldn't come here at night. It was pretty easy to get to; but parking is a bit of a challenge. The greatest thing about Crabbae is their wings so when I found out about their 50 cent wings special which they run on Wednesdays, I figured it was perfect for dinner in my house. I called and ordered at 3:50 pm. They said they would call me back when the food was ready. I got a call back at 5:12 pm to go pick the food up. I ordered 60 wings. Each set of 10 is an order so I ordered 5 different varieties. I also ordered a seafood dinner - it was 2 broiled lobsters, 6 shrimp, rice medley, broccoli, potatoes and corn on the cob. I thought that was a good amount of food for $42. When I got there I noticed a sign for their desserts. They have a variety of banana pudding flavors, so I ordered a banana crunch caramel pudding. Everything came to about $82. I paid cash as they only accept cash or Cash App and got my food. The wings were amazing. My family loves them. The lobster dinner was another story. The lobster and shrimp tasted tough to me. Seafood is supposed to be succulent and juicy but this was not. The shrimp was even tougher then the lobster and the lobster had quite a bit of shells I kept biting into ...not sure how so many shells got in the lobster (maybe it's the way they split it while it's in the shell) but I was afraid I was going to chip one of my teeth. I ate the rice and corn with no issues but I threw the potatoes out as I didn't like them. The dessert was just okay. I do believe they outsource their desserts. The sign said it was made by a different place. I did not like how it tasted very cinnamon-y. I think there was Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal in the dessert - definitely won't be ordering any of that again nor will I be ordering any seafood. From now on, I'll just stick to wings at Crabbae but I'll probably be buying them on Wednesdays to get the .50 sale. I also wanted to add: My daughter got so sick from eating these wings. This is the second time this has happened. The first time we had the jerk flavor and I thought it could have been the jerk sauce but this time, she stayed away from the jerk chicken and still got very sick. She has peanut allergies so I don't know what the issue is (as far as I know there are no peanuts in the food) She gets a stomach ache and chest pains from eating their wings -very scary and she's only 14. I gave her a Benadryl and it seems to go away after about an hour. She's had food fried in peanut oil before (I don't know what oil their food is cooked in) I can't imagine what the problem is. I will call them today and speak to a manager) My other 2 sons have not had any issues.

Solid 3.5 stars! Tried something new....delivery lol! I usually don't order out as sometimes the food just does not taste the same and it changes my perspective. Next time I will pick up I digress.... Anywho... So yeah, I want to give a brief rundown of my experience! I have seen this place floating around in my periphery, not really bookmarked, just floating... FIRST AND FOREMOST: I found that they were very generous with the portions and that's a wonderful thing bc you must get your hard earned money's worth! The food arrived pretty warm, and at good temperature, food was cooked to my satisfaction. I ordered the smothered crab fries and the fried salmon sandwich which included jumbo shrimp and fries. The fried salmon sandwich was pretty good temperature wise, I felt it could have used more seasoning and heat(spice). And here's a TIP, OWNER....maybe include a piece of leaf lettuce, a tomato slice and some red onion with this sandwich...thank me later! Those jumbo skrimps (purposely spelled wrong!) were PHENOMENAL! Delicious!! I would order those by themselves next time! Perfectly cooked and seasoned.! And I love crinkle cut fries and they were good too. So if I'm so excited about the food, why the 3.5 star rating you might ask.... Ok, the GOOD: Bae fries were TRULY loaded! Lots of shrimp and lump crab meat...quality stuff! But the BAD: Loaded Bae Fries were SWEET!!! A HUGE NO for me! I was not expecting that and quite frankly turned off by it! I don't understand??!!! Idk...In my experience with crab fries the sauce is SAVORY-Old Bay-ish...this wasn't! Disappointed to say the least. And I have yet to try to doctor it up to bring it back to savory. That SWEET thing is DEAD WRONG!!! But hey, to each his own I guess... Not me.... Although this did not work out for me, I still think this might be a good place to go to and I would definitely order from here again, and I encourage others to try it out too!

    Chicken Rasta pasta
    Osato I.

Pasta was very soggy. Tasted more like penne vodka than Rasta pasta. The pasta had flavor so I'm willing to give it another try.

You can order delivery I believe through Uber Eats, Doordash or Grubhub but those prices definitely do change and go up so we ordered over the phone and picked up for best value. The collard greens tasted like they were soaked in vinegar, making them overly bitter. The mac and cheese also need a lot of work. It didn't taste homemade or even like a good store-bought version. I would recommend trying a different cheese blend or recipe because it lacked the rich, creamy flavor I was expecting. I apologize if my comments offend anyone, but when you're spending your hard-earned money, you want your meal to be worth it. I hope this feedback is taken as constructive because the jerk chicken shows that the kitchen is capable of making delicious food. Thank you, Dani

It's typically known as "drinking food," or anju, though Koreans also enjoy the crispy pieces of meat with non-alcoholic drinks. The dish is most often made with bone-in chicken thighs or wings that have been coated in a cornstarch mixture. Traditionally, the chicken is fried twice to take it to the next level of crunchiness. Located on a busy Stuyvesant Avenue in Union, I decided on bb.q Chicken for lunch. The acronym "bb.q" in their name stands for "Best of the Best Quality," focusing on high-quality ingredients. Upon arrival as a first-timer at this modern, well-lit, clean establishment with Korean music playing throughout, I was greeted by the staff. Their menu features fried chicken, rice bowls, and Ddeok-Bokki. I decided on the Honey Garlic Wings brushed in a savory sauce with a mild tang of garlic and Chicken Fried Rice with vegetables in a classic kimchi base. The wings were prepared fresh (~20 mins prep time). The taste was deliciously amazing and addicting with a perfect balance of crispy and juicy with the right amount of spices. The complimentary pickled radish that came with the meal had a good balance. All was prepared for takeout even if one was dining there. Portions were healthy, and the price was comparable to the area. The staff is attentive and polite. Thank you for reminding me what real good fried chicken looks and tastes like.
