The curry goat was so tender. Plenty of portion too. Curry flavor was as expected side of macaroni pasta salad. It was really good but just comes in a small little cup. Jerk chicken was seasoned nicely. For me it was a milder spicy compared to the jerk chicken I've had in the past. Still spicy and the chicken was tender and coated with some of the sauce. My side was plantains; it had flavor and nice soft texture. Cooked properly. Chicken soup. It's chicken soup. I don't have much to say. The dumpling is the round shape instead of the "flat" disc shape. The dumpling itself was good. Tasted fresh. Anyways, the food overall was good. You get plenty of food for what you pay for. I just received a delivery from Jamicons and I don't think I will be ordering from here again. First, they cancelled my veggie patty. I was disappointed but thought "no big deal". I ordered the stew chicken, rice n peas, and steam cabbage with a side of Mac n cheese for my husband, and Mac n cheese, plantains, and potato salad for myself. The delivery was fast, but I see why. The order was baaaaadddddddd! First my husbands stew chicken ended up being Jerk. It looks like they tried to play it off but it was definitely jerk. Second the Mac n cheese looked like cooked noodles with just hard cheese only on the top. It was so dry! No cheese in between the noodles. Wasn't good at all! In the middle of Newark you don't find much amazing food. This place blew my mind! Jamaicans are known for their curry goat, ox tail, and more, but what blew my mind was the veggie stew! This is now my go to spot for Jamaican food. The staff made sure to let me know that their special ingredient was love and from the taste you can tell they use a generous helping of it. I asked for extra gravy, but only thing extra I received was disappointment. Hardly any goat meat on the bones they sent (check the pic, exactly how the food arrived). The reviews were mixed, but I'm a big fan of Jamaican food. First impression is not the best. They don't seem to be the most welcoming to strangers. They weren't rude, just not overly friendly. There is a small table, but it was occupied by one of the workers. The area was clean with just a small window to order. Some places in the area only take cash, but I was pleased to see that they took credit cards. I tried the Curry Chicken with Rice&Beans and fried plantains. When I got home to eat it, I was very pleasantly surprised. The chicken had great flavor, the rice, beans and veggies were an excellent side to accompany the chicken and plantains were delicious. They called me an hour later saying they don't have veggie patties; in my mind the food should have already been on the way. The food was okay. Our meals were substantial portions, enough for a second meal. They were packaged well & received timely & HOT! As we prepared to dine the fragrant aroma of spices filled the room.
