We went on a Wed night for the blue claw crabs. $5.99 per for medium or AYCE for $40.99. Crabs came out hot but likely reheated as one can tell when crabs are not fresh when they meat sticks to the claws. Ok but disappointed they were not freshly caught/cooked. Others tried spaghetti and marinara, steak, shrimp, and seafood gumbo and bisque. All good not but not exceptional. Service is what lowered my overall rating as when we sat down we asked politely if we could do separate checks and waitress immediately said no all on one check. When asked how big the medium crabs were waitress said she didn't know she did not measure them. A plaque on the wall notes this is not Burger King and you'll have things my way. So apparently a comedy preshow is included. Likely will not return mainly because crabs were not very fresh. read more

It's a little, hard to find shack in Belcoville. It's not a pretty place. Most of the tables are actually picnic tables. Single dollars decorate the ceiling and walls. Huge plastic canisters of stale oyster crackers and horseradish sit atop every table. They have locally caught clams and oysters on their raw bar menu, and a very delicious, creamy He-Crab soup. The crabs are perfect. The blue claws are likely caught in local waters; the Dungeness and Alaskan King taste like they were caught locally - not a small feat for a Jersey seafood restaurant to pull off. You're given all sorts of tools to extract your meat from your crab, except a bib, which you'll need. Eating here is messy. If you order the blue claws, the wait staff will patiently explain to your shoobie behind how to clean them. Beer is cheap and always flowing. Service is extraordinary. The wait staff isn't a bunch of young, pretty girls who smile a lot, but they know how to clean off your table and keep an eye on your beer level so you never have to wait for one, which is way better than being pretty and smiley. read more

On Sunday try the all you can eat blue crabs the plates come out full and hot. Wash it down with a couple of Yuenglings and your in heaven! Mouth watering! For those who don't mind getting a little messy, then the Maryland style crabs are good as well. I had placed two orders of each, with beers and my bill was still less than $100. As for the service.... Well TERRRRRRIBLE! The waitress had such a bad attitude. However, once she saw that we were ordering a lot of food, she quickly changed her attitude. An example of Yelp overrating. I saw the number of stars for the place so I picked this over what may have been much better dining experience closer to where I stayed. I was not dissuaded by the out of the way location, having read some reviews here. Upon arrival I had already traveled too far to be put off by the appearance. It is bar first, dining second. The picnic table sitting was very uncomfortable, especially since we had to wait an hour for our meals after having been seated. My wife ordered the lobster, which was tough. Her medium-rare steak was overdone. This is simply not following orders. The entree was removed from our tab without too much trouble. The Dungeness and king crab was not bad, but not special. Seeing as the king are not caught locally, there is not much point of traveling to NJ for them. Great hidden spot with adorable decor and nice service! Driving down the road that it's on, you wouldn't have known that there would be a restaurant! Definitely not chain food like Joe's Crab Shack because the servings are wonderful and so was everyone we met that worked there. We ordered blue crabs which were nice, medium and full of meat. Crab cakes were definitely made of crab chunks and great amount of seasoning.. not the usual few pieces of fake crab meat with loads of breadcrumbs, so if you do go get their award winning crab cakes and corn!!! The crabs are served with the shell on so you will need to do a little work to get to the meat, but that is part of the fun of eating crabs. I have been twice, the Captains plate is the most for your money and I usually get another meal out of it. They make an awesome Long Island Iced Tea. It's worth the trip, you can't beat the price or the service. I love this little tucked away gem. I'm a local who's been coming here for over 10 years and it's one of my favorite places to get crabs in the summer. It's truly a no-frills, just great food type of place. My go-to is the all you can eat snow crab with shrimp and fries. The staff are always kind and very accommodating. The building itself can be off-putting for some (it's truly a shack in the woods) but the food is worth it! My only critique is the quality has gone down slightly in the years I've been coming here. I know each crabbing season yields different results, but the last few times I visited it wasn't as great as it had been; the portions seemed smaller and the crabs weren't as sweet as in the past. My mom even commented on how it's not quite the same (she's been coming here twice as long as me). All that being said, it's still a hometown favorite of mine and I'll keep coming and supporting as long as they're open. read more

Crabby's has been our favorite place to go for the last 7 years. My wife and I have celebrated Birthdays and Anniversary's there and have always left with huge smiles on our faces. The last two times we have gone within the last two months, things are different. The crabby Mary's are watered down so much that you can see through them. I orders them whenever we go and for $11 they are terrible now. Today I ordered the soft shell crab special sautéed and they were advertised as "Whale size????" Are you kidding me? Lips didn't even dress to the nines and wore designer sweat pants and a Polo. Lips began the meal with He Crab Soup. Quite sweet but definitely home made creamy hearty soup. Then came a dozen little neck clams which were terrific. Lips for an entree had the Special which was a large platter of Muscles, Clams, Shrimp and a Half of Lobster. Plus a Ear of very good Jerzey Corn on the Cob. Lips reported that all tasted very good. I had the Crab Sampler. A Generous Portion (maybe enough for two eaters) Of Dungenous Crab, Snow Crab, King Crab Legs, and 2 Blue Claws. The Crabs were very tasty, fresh and worth the Price of 38 bucks. I would order this platter for Two next time as I could not finish the serving. Lips had desert of Dark Chocolate Cake which was decadent. The Jessup, MD review..well, I don't know what to tell you but if you pick crabs and are still hungry, then it probably wouldn't matter which State you're in...you're doing it wrong! The servers are great, Janet, Ro, Marge and Candi are fantastic not a dirty or stinky one in the bunch!. The clams casino are the best from a NON-Italian joint, ever! Crabs are the star of the show but, I can promise you Brian knows his way around a kitchen. A suds and seafood joint, yes BUT the fresh tuna sandwich and the burgers are excellent. Pricing is cheaper than a lot of places I've seen. Been to Hoopers in Maryland (yes, jessup...) and can tell you THAT is a tourist trap. they feed you chicken, corn, hush puppies and what their version of shrimp is ...in order to fill you up so they don't have to put out over-salted, empty crabs. CRABBY's gives you what you went for... CRABS! Yes, the all you cans are not cleaned but, really? You expect them to be cleaned? Most places don't clean them at all. You can get them cleaned on any night but not on all you can eat nights. which right now are wednesday and sundays. Crabbys is my favorite place on earth. My husband even proposed there. I've been bringing a new generation of nieces and nephews there and well, it's now a family tradition. It's great for a girls night, a guys night or family night. Casual dive dining at its best.
