This is the type of place that SCREAMS tourist trap. With that being said, Crabs on the beach is still a cool experience. We visited crabs as one of our first stops in Pensacola Beach because our oldest daughter LOVES Crab. We assumed it would be pricier given its location and theme. The hostess staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and also offered great recommendations for things to do in PB. We were sat quickly in the upper level outside facing the beach. The day we were here, it was pretty hot and humid which I think detracted from our experience as there was not much airflow to keep up cool. The menu is pretty standard, Flounders and Crabs share owners so their menu's are very similar. Flounders is a much better location (IMO) but that is a different convo for a different day. The kids got their shrimp baskets for their meal and they thoroughly enjoyed them, they also ordered soft drinks and were given these cool bucket cups that they got a kick out of. We didn't read the menu, those cups were $3 extra each... I am vegetarian so my options were VERY limited. I think i settled for the Jalapeno hush puppies that were very tasty. My wife and kids also shared a crab plate that had sausage, crab, potatoes, and corn. The Crab plate was way over seasoned and the kids didn't really care for it at all. We ordered a Key Lime Colada and a Bushwacker. Bother were very good. In closing, with Crabs and Flounders so close to one another. I certainly prefer the service and atmosphere of Flounders. You can expect similar food at both thought and Crabs is right on the beach in the Gulf. read more

Really blown away by Crabs! It's one of many beach bars on the strip and wasn't expecting anything outstanding but was happily proven wrong. The service was great, happy hour can't be beaten, and drinks were delicious. I loved their frozen key lime drink and love that you can get it in a to go cup for the beach. The oysters were actually so delicious, it was quite unexpected for such a casual spot. Really wish I had time to try the sushi but maybe next time. We ordered off the brunch menu on Sunday, but I believe the entire menu was available. We got the hush puppies appitzer which was good. They do bring out complimentary beinets which were just fried biscuits (but this is Florida not Louisiana so I'll let that slide). The server was nice but busy! A different person brings out your order. They brought out completely the wrong meal for me. I challenged him on it and he still insisted this was the rise and shine I ordered... But it was a crab omelet. Found that out the fun way. Good thing I'm not allergic, I just don't like a lot of seafood. The waiter didn't come back around until plates were nearly finished. Luckily my sons French toast was enough to share because it was a huge plate. My food was disappointing but the rest of the family enjoyed theirs. The high top tables next to the band stage made for a stressful meal. At the price we paid, would've Bennett nice to at least be offered seating elsewhere. Crabs on the Beach is very much a party going on. It is fairly loud, there is a lot of swag, and the drinks are huge. If you're feeling saucy, then give the Crabs' Jar O' Rum a look. A mason jar filled with pineapple & orange juice, dark rum, and coconut rum, served over ice and easy to drink. It helps wash down what is run-of-the-mill shrimp and crab, which is not to say that it is low quality, it's just that they could do so much more. Their sushi game has quite a range, both nigiri and sashimi, and is crafted fresh daily. Salmon & yellowfin tuna are featured and the rolls have all kinds of variety. But don't miss the poke bowls featuring tuna, salmon, pickled veggies, and more. The bowls are fresh and sensational, and here's a tip: this might be the best to-go item on the menu, because it's not fried nor hot and the flavors have more time to blend on the way home. Service is good but not great, and seating is plentiful. The view on the second level is pretty spectacular on a sunny day with the calm & shimmering sea laid out before you. Enjoy the view, maybe turn a blind eye to the level of noise, and savor some seafood. *And skip the Crab Nachos. They're overrated and the portion size is obscene, with chip-to-protein ratios that are heavy on the corn side. Lesson learned. read more

The food was really good, there are a lot of options. I was nervous that there was only going to be fried food, but they have food options for everyone, including sushi! The cocktails are yummy and reasonable prices. The service was amazing, we had two girls, one was in training, but they were simply amazing and attentive although the place was packed. The manager I must highlight because he exceeded his role to even bring us menus and utensils to the table. Ambiance was nice, they had live music, it was a Friday night we went. I will say the wait is long, but put yourself on the waitlist and it goes by quick. We are local and I had never tried this place. I didn't realize it was connected to Flounders and McGuires. The food did not disappoint. My mom loved her fried shrimp. I got the shrimp salad and it was HUGE. My only complaint would be you can't eat it easily with so much stuff. I asked for a second plate and took out som of the lettuce so I could mix it up. I visited Crabs with my husband and had a mixed experience. Our server, Mattie, was very welcoming, attentive, and checked on us regularly throughout our meal. Her customer service was definitely the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn't live up to the hype. The food was overpriced for the quality, and I didn't find it as impressive as others have described. While I truly appreciated Mattie's excellent service, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant overall due to the food quality and pricing. read more

The appetizers we ordered were the chicken wings and stuffed crabs. Both very delicious. The crab bisque was definitely not for me. It was way too under-seasoned and disappointing. I ordered the crab cake with shrimp and enjoyed it. The pineapple coleslaw was surprisingly very yummy, as someone who doesn't normally like coleslaw! I would definitely order again. My friends all ordered the shrimp boil. As people from Louisiana, we have definitely had better shrimp boils. This one was more just like boiled shrimp. A little underwhelming for being the entree. The shrimp nachos were loaded and full of flavor, and the snow crab was fresh and perfectly cooked. We ended up doing takeout so we could eat right on the beach, which made the whole experience even better. There's nothing like great seafood with an ocean view. The two of us were seated immediately on the outside patio. A talented musician played and sang, and we had a beach view with turquoise waters lapping up on the white sand beach. There is a large free parking lot since Crabs is on a public beach. Our server Alexis stopped by, gave us the rundown, and brought us water while we decided what to drink. I had a crabwacker and a water. As expected, it was really a tasty dessert. For our appetizer, we got the crab and shrimp balls that had a catchy name I forgot. It was lunchtime, so my hubby and I split the grouper plate. We had the grouper blackened, a side of French fries, and slaw instead of the asparagus. We asked for a side of starter that we only used for the very blackened pieces of grouper and their fries. Dinner for seven started a bit rough when the hostess Kenady was about as rude as could be. Got past that, got a table, and waited 45 minutes for our food. Our waiter Nick apologized many times but it is what it is. THEN this happened. A server came whipping around our table and launched drawn butter, sausage, corn cob, and whatever else was on the seafood boil over two people in our party. Drawn butter stained their shirts and shorts and left them with dripping butter down their backs. The Manager asked what we thought the clothing was worth?? WTF? In the end they comped their two meals however it ruined the entire evening for our party and minimally we should have had the entire meal comped along with a gift card for a future visit. I enjoyed the doughnut and honey app. The dip was just okay for me, not much crab meat but a good portion of small shrimp. It was enough for one person. The chips were a mix of warm and then stale. Service was great. Restaurant gets busy and loud which didn't bother me. The bubbles walking in was fun. Not sure I'd eat here again unless I ordered something different. Zara our server was fantastic! At first, their website said there was no wait just see the host. Then when we walked there 10 minutes tops, wouldn't let us make a future reservation. Then we had to wait but only for about 5 min. We sat outside on the patio. Zara was so friendly & patient. The sausage was great & spicy. The red potatoes were tasty too! The crab legs were served w/kitchen scissors which made eating so much easier! Messy but delicious! Hubby loved his blackened red snapper & red potatoes. I watched as the employees greeted guests & cleaned tables efficiently & friendly! Zara found out that it was our 41st anniversary & brought us complimentary champagne! She offered to take our photo in front of the stage w/vintage Pensacola & FL sign. What a great experience! Thanks Zara & all the great employees showing that hustle with friendliness!
