This is the type of place that SCREAMS tourist trap. With that being said, Crabs on the beach is still a cool experience. We visited crabs as one of our first stops in Pensacola Beach because our oldest daughter LOVES Crab. We assumed it would be pricier given its location and theme. The hostess staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and also offered great recommendations for things to do in PB. We were sat quickly in the upper level outside facing the beach. The day we were here, it was pretty hot and humid which I think detracted from our experience as there was not much airflow to keep up cool. The menu is pretty standard, Flounders and Crabs share owners so their menu's are very similar. Flounders is a much better location (IMO) but that is a different convo for a different day. The kids got their shrimp baskets for their meal and they thoroughly enjoyed them, they also ordered soft drinks and were given these cool bucket cups that they got a kick out of. We didn't read the menu, those cups were $3 extra each... I am vegetarian so my options were VERY limited. I think i settled for the Jalapeno hush puppies that were very tasty. My wife and kids also shared a crab plate that had sausage, crab, potatoes, and corn. The Crab plate was way over seasoned and the kids didn't really care for it at all. We ordered a Key Lime Colada and a Bushwacker. Bother were very good. In closing, with Crabs and Flounders so close to one another. I certainly prefer the service and atmosphere of Flounders. You can expect similar food at both thought and Crabs is right on the beach in the Gulf. read more

I didn't think I wanted to sit outside, but it was a beautiful night and I don't think they asked, so we were seated outside. Our server seemed very busy when we walked in, so I figured this was going to be the average beach service we're accustomed too. I was wrong, the server quickly wrapped up and made us feel like his biggest priority. I had the crab cake and filet duo and it was one of the best I've ever had. The crab cake was of great quality and they even had a second blue crab claw crab cake next to it that has a different flavor, equally delicious. The filet was also great quality with a nice sauce and a side of asparagus and delicious hush puppies. I can't say enough about the quality, it wasn't expected on the beach. Really wished this was a better review , always try to be positive on them and understanding, but we lost a whole day of vacation after going here. I don't take reviews lightly but all three people on our party ate the same appetizer, and then the same dinner from the menu (Crab Cakes) and ALL three of us were extremely sick as soon as we awoken the next day and some awaken during the night with it! Definitely some form of food poisoning, from sweats chills and nausea we all laid in bed sipping Gatorade the next day to recover! Despite how busy this spot gets, the staff manages it well! It is perfectly situated in front of the water, they have live music at times, the menu is pretty good and the portions are large. A mason jar filled with pineapple & orange juice, dark rum, and coconut rum, served over ice and easy to drink. It helps wash down what is run-of-the-mill shrimp and crab, which is not to say that it is low quality, it's just that they could do so much more. Their sushi game has quite a range, both nigiri and sashimi, and is crafted fresh daily. Salmon & yellowfin tuna are featured and the rolls have all kinds of variety. But don't miss the poke bowls featuring tuna, salmon, pickled veggies, and more. The bowls are fresh and sensational, and here's a tip: this might be the best to-go item on the menu, because it's not fried nor hot and the flavors have more time to blend on the way home. Service is good but not great, and seating is plentiful. The view on the second level is pretty spectacular on a sunny day with the calm & shimmering sea laid out before you. Enjoy the view, maybe turn a blind eye to the level of noise, and savor some seafood. *And skip the Crab Nachos. We are local and I had never tried this place. I didn't realize it was connected to Flounders and McGuires. The food did not disappoint. My mom loved her fried shrimp. I got the shrimp salad and it was HUGE. My only complaint would be you can't eat it easily with so much stuff. I asked for a second plate and took out som of the lettuce so I could mix it up.
