We had not been back to Cracker Barrel since their nationwide Remodeling Fiasco, but figured we'd give it a try once again... Things we noticed right away included: No manager was ever seen walking the floor, so I can only assume they've done away with the position; Two stationed at the hostess podium were more concerned in playing grab-ass with the waitresses than their job; waitresses/waiters now have to bus their own tables. As for the food, while adequately prepared by the time it arrived at our table it was lukewarm. The fish was just above room temperature, the potatoes were almost warm (yet not quite), and the apples were actually served fresh and semi-hot. They have gone away from canned biscuits now, so that is a plus. Our waitress dropped the ticket on the table mid-meal and never returned. Since its fairly hard to digest a meal with-out anything to drink, I had to run another waitress down to refill my drink. She happily obliged and earned our full tip for the evening. To sum it up, not much has changed over the past year and a half. While it's not really Rocket Science to serve a freshly prepared hot meal to your patrons, for some peculiar reason it continues to be just beyond their desire to do so. read more

So I met up with my sister and the fam she from Ohio and I from Georgia, and this was the middle man lol but we were hungry, so this was perfect. It did not disappoint, and everything was delicious. We had a great time, and the service was perfect!!! Even though it was packed, service was on point, and we didn't have to wait too long for our food and beverages. The place was nice and cozy. Was so excited, I bought a couple of Friends and Gilmore Girls mugs that were on sale. Iwish they had a Friend section. This could be our meet point from now on. read more

We've ordered holiday dinners before and have been extremely happy w/those orders, but this time was different. We ordered the 4-person Easter dinner. We rec'd mostly end pieces of turkey breast instead of full slices (?!) for most of the turkey, the 2 slices of full turkey breast was tasty and moist, the end pieces, not so much! The ham was dry and tough! The green beans had no flavor. The mashed potatoes & gravy were good. The sweet potato casserole was watery! The dressing flavor was good, but it had large pieces of almost raw onion and celery?! The sweet potato casserole was runny, almost watery! We ordered 5 slices of carrot cake, it was great; yet I also ordered 5 slices of Chocolate Cola Cake, which was not in our order when I arrived and the gentleman that brought my order to the car said I would have to get out and go in to pay for it. Although, when I ordered, I stated all items should be warm, two of our casseroles were cold and had to be heated when we got home, so we could not eat our dinner immediately, and our other items were getting cold, waiting for the two additional items to be heated in the oven! Just not sure if we'll be ordering from them again, as I spent over $200 and probably could have gotten the same quality of frozen casseroles from Walmart, that tasted similar. Maybe, just maybe it's time for Cracker Barrel to adapt or die. My server was excellent and that's the only reason this is a 2 star review because the food was absolutely awful. I ordered the biscuit sandwiches with plain hash browns. The biscuits were dry and hard. The sausage was dry. The cheese I added wasn't melted even a little bit. They were genuinely hard to eat. The hash browns were ok but undercooked. The ambiance has never changed over all the years. It's gone stale really. Ordered the salmon meal with rice and carrots. It was an hour wait on my food while everyone that came in after me got their food first. After the wait period my food finally came. However the rice was hard enough to break a tooth. It was clearly uncooked. The waiter never came to our table to ask how everything was so I had to stop another waiter just to get them to recognize my issue I had. That person got my original waiter who did come over to my table and said she was very sorry and will ask them to remake it. Which in turn took 30 mins just for her to come back and tell me the cooks refused to do my rice over again. Only thing I got was salmon and carrots. My waiter didn't seem to know what she was doing and as previously mentioned she never once came over to my table to check to see if everything was okay or if I needed any assistance. This does not resemble the Cracker Barrel I remember always dining at. They were always polite and very attentive and never have I had uncooked food. The service was good, but the quality of the food was extremely poor. We had the pot roast, which was tough and chewy. The mashed potatoes were so bland and watery that we couldn't eat them. I'm giving one star because the waitress did a good job and our bad experience wasn't her fault. The manager, however, should be fired for allowing the kitchen to turn out such awful food. My wife and I were told if we signed up for an account, we would get a complimentary appetizer. we did an ordered-the appetizer came in 2 minutes immediately followed by our chicken dinners-no time in between. The chicken was overcooked, tasteless and dry -inedible. I believe the chicken had to be pre-cooked and sitting under a warming lamp. There was no way this was freshly cooked and served within 5 minutes of our placing an order. I even tried ketchup to make it less dry but still couldn't eat it. The "free" appetizer was on our bill. I was told it would be taken off at the register. The total came up with the appetizer still on it. The young man behind the register crumpled our table tab and threw it out and tried to tell me the bill was correct. I said I'll wait while you find the original tab and see the appetizer was still on the supposedly correct bill. He then goes "oh yeah" and fixed it. When I told the hostess the food was bad, she said sorry, but that was. it. We didn't see a a manager anywhere to talk too. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! read more

And for my next review of the Athens Cracker Barrel. We had been camping all weekend and packed up this morning. Stopped at the Athens TN Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We asked for biscuits before our meal because we hadn't eaten and were told NO. Waitress said the regional manager put a stop to biscuits before the meal. I told her I was requesting biscuits and that was different than just bringing them. Waitress said she would have to get permission or she would be written up. I told her the Athens Cracker Barrel has been sucking for five years now due to management. They quit using Thousand Island dressing so my wife hasn't had a salad there since. She finally brought us two biscuits out and I just shook my head. The waitress didn't serve us and check on us like normal because I made her mad. I asked who the regional manager was and she wouldn't give me his name. So! The Cracker Barrel fight continues to bring back thousand island dressing and more. read more

If I could give a minus I would I ordered a salad waitress said they had blue cheese Salad never came. When food came the waitress said " oh she told me we don't have blue cheese"! Told her to cancel salad as it should have come BEFORE the meal The chicken & dumplings were barely warm, the dumplings were thick and gummy AND the potatoes tasted musty. Husband got meatloaf, broccoli & cole slaw. Meatloaf was not warm and just ok. Broccoli wasn't warm enough to melt the butter he asked for & rec'd only after asking a second time. Service - we were ignored 15 minutes after seating and they were not that busy. It never dramatically improved but did come up as the evening plodded on - food was very slow as we Food, lack luster at best. Ordered the Hamburger "steak" med well with loaded mashed. Loaded mashed potatoes was just some shredded cheese with a bit of bacon and chopped chives. Meager at best. The burger arrived extra well done, smashed multiple times on the grill like road kill and was tough. Wouldn't cut with a fork edge and barely with a knife. HAMBURGER! I suffered that night and all the next day with explsive you know what. Visited EVERY rest area along I75 to Adel, GA. Immodium finally saved me. The service is always fast and friendly and you can always find a working restroom. Food is consistent no matter is you are there at open or close. It has been a very long time since I have been here and I got a takeout order to enjoy at my destination a few blocks away. I am always surprise by how much packing is used on a to go order. Ate here tonight with wife for the first time while on vacation. Only a milefrom our hotel. We usually like Cracker Barrel, but there were a few missteps this time. I had the grilled catfish dinner with 3 sides, plus 2 bowls of soup (potato and vegetable.. Fish and veggies were fine, but the entree literally came out before the soups. Not good. So the entree had to be set aside until I finished the 2 soups. Both soups seemed blander than usual. Wife said the same thing about her potato soup. Not sure what was missing. And no crackers came with either one.Salad looked fine, but again. tasted bland. Then it came time for dessert--pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Pie was still frozen--couldn't even cut the crust with a fork. So I did something I rarely ever do, Sent it back. They brought me a second piece that was better--at least the filling was warm. Cracker Barrel is usually our go-to place when on the road through TN, but this one will probably be a one-and-done. read more

Our tour at Lost Sea took much longer than expected, and we didn't make it to the CB until 15 minutes before closing on a Sunday night. We thought we might be turned away, but the staff could not have been nicer. It was no problem, and they made us feel right at home. Dinner came out fast and was delicious. Lots of food for a small price. We received extra rolls and muffins. Great experience all around, if we are ever in the area again we will definitely eat here. Due to Covid, every other table was closed off. We were able to take off our masks once we were seated. Staff was cleaning and sanitizing tables. We felt very safe. read more

I love Cracker Barrel and this location is no different! From the time you walk into the 'store' until you sit down to a home-style dinner until you checkout the feeling is totally relaxed. After putting my name in at the podium, I was off to see what I could find in the 'country store' (this is located in the front half of the restaurant). Everything from home décor to clothes to toys can be found for a great price! Make sure to look at their clearance area - this trip I found pants with a matching wrap each marked 60% off. My favorite thing to eat here is breakfast - which is served all day long. Biscuits and gravy, potato/cheese casserole, bacon, sausage, country ham and grits - yum, yum! I usually also ask for a side of apple butter to put on an extra biscuit (just delicious). They also have a full lunch/dinner menu with tons of options. The only thing here that have not liked was their chicken and dumplings - but to be fair, my Mom is an amazing cook and that is one of her specialties. :) read more

(I didn't even tell him about my bad experience, he was just good at his job lol) Shoutout to the sweet gal behind the register too. When I got back to my hotel? Boyyyy, that food was fresh. I was delighted. Every thing was in a separate container, unlike the previous one where they put it all on the same plate. You could tell they made it fresh for me. Faith in CB restored. I would like to chop the disappointment up to being short handed, but truly it's possible poor training or management. Our waitress was great, and the food was great, which is why I gave 2 stars. However, we had a party of 9 and was told about 45 minute wait time. Ok, not a problem. A TON of names come and go and over an hour later, nothing. I went to check on our table and was told we're still waiting on a big party to leave. I informed the hostesses (yep, there was like 4 standing there) that we could be at two small tables near each other and they said great the had two tables being cleaned it would be a minute. Well... another 20 minute comes and goes so we go check again, and now 2 different hostesses are up there and now the other tables are gone and they're still waiting. Finally we were crammed onto one of the round tables, which is not meant for 9 peoples. They had rows of tables available once we were sat and could look around. At first I thought they were empty for Covid or under staffed, but nope... there were also empty tables not being bussed, when I saw the guy who was cleaning the tables off, he was doing a half ass job even doing that, and was slow as molasses. Thankfully we're in this area for a funeral and after this weekend will never have to worry about being back here again. Please go elsewhere. This is probably the worse experience EVER by a Cracker Barrel. read more

They also take your order in a timely manner and bring it to you in a reasonable time. I most definitely will come back here anything as I have never found anything wrong here. All their food is great. It doesn't matter what you pick as it all good. If you like country food, then you need to visit this restaurant. We wanted to get a special treat for my mother because we found out today that she has cancer. She loves catfish so we got her a catfish plate with a baked potato and coleslaw. The piece of fish was so thin and overcooked that she could barely bite into it. Apparently the potato had been sitting there all day because it was so overdone that she couldn't even eat it. All of this and we paid $11.00+ for that one lousy meal. But never again. We used to look forward to eating at Cracker Barrel but everything has changed and unfortunately not for the better. I have NEVER received such poor service and prejudice treatment at any establishment. This review will not fully elucidate the disgusting experience my family and I faced while attempting to dine here 10/02/2020. What is so disconcerting is the fact that I gave this restaurant a chance, despite warnings from others about their similar, uncomfortable experiences. Not only at this restaurant, but in ANY Cracker Barrel restaurant. Our experience was not limited to one individual. This was at least 3 employees, inclusive of the hostess (Audrey). Everything was awful. I initially assumed it was just me. Then, 3 other family members also noticed that it was consistent, blatant disrespect from multiple employees. It began with attempting to get seating for my family of 20. We were rudely advised that we were not allowed to be seated until everyone got there. Her tone was offensive and her facial expressions were even worse when speaking to me. "20 people???....We can't sit you until everyone gets here.....Just come back when everyone gets here.....We need to know how many kids there are." At one point she walked off with the menus and silverware in hand without a word. I wasn't sure if she was locating a spot or if we were supposed to follow her. We were seated at 2 different tables. They said nothing when we asked (twice) to consolidate the tables, as most restaurants will do. Especially considering the fact that the restaurant was not busy and there was sufficient room to do so in the open area we were assigned to. The tone they used when taking orders was so rude that I asked for the manager. We had to ask multiple times to get a menu in hand before they placed them at the opposite end of a long table. When my cousin switched tables, the waitress became annoyed and made a rude comment, "I'm going to have to start all over again with taking this order". We asked why and she indicated that is just how they have to do things. The only hint of respect we received was after we asked for the manager, who never came. I am guessing that their excuses will be justified by Covid practices? I guess since we do not know how to read minds, then we were not entitled to respect. We took our business to another establishment and received superior service from the moment we walked in their doors. We advised them of our experience here and they confirmed the same culture of bad customer service at this location. Our family was in need of a kind environment as we had just had a family funeral. We will never eat at Cracker Barrel again. Your staff needs a mandatory training on customer service, discrimination and how to convey a welcoming demeanor as they were NOT approachable. I called 10/03/20, spoke with a manager who said she'll find out what happened and call me back. That never happened. I put a Facebook review on the same day and got a message 10/05/20 requesting my info. They advised that guest relations would reach out. I am still waiting. read more

When you walk in the store is clean and well stocked. The restroom was clean. The hostesses were not attentive and were not friendly. After waiting 20 minutes for a table of 8, I asked how much longer. Her answer was that they were waiting on silverware, but that we could be seated and they woukd bring it when it was ready. They didn't inform out server, so when our food was brought we had nothing to eat with. Our server was great, she apologized and went to get us some. She was attentive, quick and pleasant. Great food and really great service. People are so nice in this town. I had to train my brain to be nice back because I'm not use to this kind of hospitality. I have eaten at this location about 7 times on this trip. They got me coming back as if the first time was free. Every employee here is great and deserves some type of award. Normally what we get is good and service is pretty good. Today's waiter, Jeannie, messed up a lot. Husband's french toast was to have been topped with berries. None were on it. I ordered a salad that was to have come with a couple of deviled eggs and an apple muffin. They were not with the order. And the apple had the blossom end still attached. Yes, I should have complained and the manager would have done something. But my husband hates when I complain to a waiter. So I didnt fo it when it would have done more good. So. Cindy said someone would bring the chair "in a little while" Placed our order and we were informed their truck had not run so they didn't have much of anything.
