I have been wanting some good fish. We went there last Friday and order some. Ten minutes after we ordered, they told us they were out of fish. Went back today. Got the fish! It was pretty good, but a little overpriced. I'm giving this rating because there restrooms are NEVER CLEAN! They even have a sign on the door where they supposedly have been checked. The smell was overwhelming! I figured maybe they mopped with a sour mop (maybe weeks ago). The floor was wet by each toilet. The toliets must leak because it's always like that. The stall I chose has feces all over the toilet seat! Completely unacceptable! Please fix your leaks and scrub the restroom. I came straight home took a shower and washed my shoes. I don't why they got 2.4 star service. But as a family of 4 we had the best fast service on a very busy Saturday. All food was super hot and fresh. The special for the day was the Nashville hot fried chicken and it truly was the best fried chicken iv ever had I can't say enough about how amazing it was. I honestly wouldn't review this store because it's Cracker Barrel, so you know what you're getting into. I never had a food or service issue with Cracker Barrel in general, but my mistake was ordering delivery via uber eats. In fairness, my address is inevitably the last stop on any multi stop delivery, but the food was cold for real by the time it reached me. I tried the seasonal limited "campfire" shrimp, and had fair expectations of any seafood coming from a landlocked state's Cracker Barrel. It may have been better delivered straight to a dine in table, but honestly the shrimp quality was Captain D's level regardless. There were 2 baby potatoes, 6 grilled shrimp, 4 - 5 coin sized sausage bites and 2 half cobs of corn. Also in fairness, the corn was delicious but absolutely drowning in butter (or margarine) and salt. Received one each of biscuit and cornbread muffin - cold. Ordered a 5 pack of chocolate chip cookies to include with lunches this week, and they are commercially prepared, individually wrapped in plastic and had been refrigerated. That's all. The young man host told us our entire party had to be up at the kiosk. We had one in the bathroom. Another hostess came up and told him something and then he just walked off. Never said follow me. Sometimes you never learn. I returned to this location after a previously bad experience (reviewed on Yelp) and received another poor quality visit. This will be my last. A table of 3, we were seated immediately and that was nice at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon even if we were asked to hold the menus up while they cleaned the table as we stood beside it waiting. (Please clean tables before seating people) We ordered our food and drinks and waited while two other tables came in beside us and were both served drinks while we sat there. Finally after getting our drinks, I was informed that my drink was the "bottom of the fountain" which is why it wasn't a full glass and that they will get me a "fresh" drink after it is changed. More on that in a minute... eventually the food was served and it was apparent that the corn muffins were not fresh at all. So hard that we didn't even eat them. The hash brown casserole was hard and stale. The chicken and dumplings were "ok" but seemed like they had been under heat lamp based on the way the sauce was a bit sticky. We had to use an extra set of utensils because one set still has food stuck to it. After sitting there with all of us on empty drinks our waitress finally checked in and asked if I needed a refill. So I guess a "fresh" drink was quickly forgotten about. Sadly as a fan of Cracker Barrel, this will likely be the visit that stops me from ever making it an option again. I understand that things go wrong sometimes but when every aspect of the experience has issues that tells me it's a quality and caring about the product issue. If the location doesn't care enough to ensure a clean, quality experience, I don't care enough to return to give them another chance. read more

I knew I was in trouble as I entered the restaurant and passed the cashier who was asking a customer how his meal was and he told them his service was lousy, cashier then stated sorry to hear that your total is $32.85 without blinking an eye. I was promptly seated and order was placed at 6:53p and for the next hour there was no food delivered but the refills kept coming, after 4 or 5 waters our food arrived. While eating the table next to me struck up a conversation and explained they also have been waiting an hour and waitress (Kylie) told them they lost their order!! After my 2 hour marathon at the table I had to track down our waitress to get my bill and as I went to pay I was ask how was your meal? I explained nicely food was good but your service is terrible at which point as I heard before she said I'm sorry your total is $29.62 and Rang it thru. Your servers need training, your kitchen staff needs fired and your cashiers after being programmed to ask how was your meal need to be trained on what to say when the experience is a poor one rather than giving a total. My entire section was struggling to get their meals but not one explanation or visit from a manager during my visit. 70 minutes to get a simple meal is uncalled for and based on other reviews seems to be a problem. For the past couple years the service has been bad. it took an hour and twenty minutes to get our meal and then we didnt get everything we ordered with no explanation as to why it took so long. Our waitress was nice but had excuses for why we didn't get everything we ordered. So many bad experiences in that Cracker Barrel. I like the store but really disappointed in service. I have always been a fan of Cracker Barrel but today I'm SO aggravated. I ordered their Easter Ham Heat 'n Serve Feast. I went to pick it up this evening, followed the instructions given via text and sat and waited and waited. A guy came out carrying his drink in one hand and 2 bags in the other saying "I don't remember the name, but did you have the chicken 'n dumplings?" I told him no, and he went on to check with other cars while I continued to wait. I finally called and asked how much longer it would be. They said they'd get it ready. ??? Okayyy After 10 more minutes, a guy comes out, asks me my name and proceeds to tell me he has no order for me. Now, I ordered and paid for this on April 2nd and received the text to pick it up. This guy says they have nothing. I locked my car and went inside and asked for a manager. Some woman came up and treated me like I was in the wrong. She told me their system doesn't recognize carry out orders or some nonsense. Anyway. She never apologized, just told me they had gone to my car with the order. SO, I get home, get my grandsons bathed and settled in bed and discover I didn't get the yeast rolls. I got twice the amount of potatoes but no Mac 'n Cheese. They were not even very busy at Cracker Barrel when I was there. No excuse for management to be rude. Definitely should have apologized. I can understand waiting, but the rest is ridiculous. And they should never, ever let their staff deliver food out to cars while drinking a coke. Poor management! read more

Arrived at 5:30 on a Sunday Night. Ordered the signature Chicken and Dumplings and Southern Fried Chicken. They brought our drinks biscuits and a salad. 20 minutes later Waitress came and said they were out of both. The truck wouldn't be there tomorrow and we needed to order something else. We told her we came for those dinners and would go somewhere else. She proceded to Charge us. I ask for a Manager. His quote was well you drank the drinks( Ice Tea and a Water. We have eaten many times at this location in the past, and didn't have any complaints. This time was different. Husband wanted to try new menu item, fried chicken. He was terrible disappointed. Chicken was old, having set in heater for some time. We complained and waitress came back with a fresher and hotter 1/2 chicken. The chicken wasn't well seasoned and crust falling off. Tasted like grocery deli chicken. His mashed potatoes were thick, and again, slightly seasoned. My meal was an old baked potato. Fried shrimp and veg sides. I could have made a much better dinner of same items. Cracker Barrel needs a quality upgrade, or I'll just stay home when I want some good home cooking. We visited this restaurant on Tuesday, 10 March 2020. Like always there is never a hostess at the hostess stand. So you wait. We were seated and like always you wait for a server. Fifteen minutes later the server takes drink and food order. We knew there would be issues when the server repeated the order back and it was wrong. Finally, the server got the order written down correctly. This was not going to have a good outcome. The table next to us food arrived. Three of the 4 guests received their ordered items. The fourth did not have his complete order. He stopped another server to say his order was incomplete. 10 minutes later his food arrived. Notice we are now 25 minutes into this visit. Two of our drinks arrived. 10 minutes later the coffee arrived. We finished our drinks, no food. The server apologized We asked for refills. No refills. Fifteen minutes pass no food. Server stops by the table I ask for the check for the drinks. The server states food will be out soon. Ten minutes no food or refills. We leave and stop to pay for the drinks. The cashier does not charge us and apologizes. Even though the food is good. Unfortunately this seems to be the state of customer service these days. NONE! read more

I've been going to Cracker Barrel for nearly thirty years and out of all the ones I have been to the Barboursville location is hands down the worst. Service is most often terrible. Food is never that good. Most often cold with inconsistent portion sizes. Once I was served grey mashed potatoes and when I mentioned it to the waitress she told me it was because it was so late and they were closing soon (7:30 at night). She didn't offer to get me different potatoes or anything else. Just walked away. Recently I went in for lunch while waiting for my car to be serviced. I went to the hostess stand gave my name & number and within two minutes I received a text telling me my table was ready. I went to the hostess stand , informed the hostess and she said "just a few minutes". EIGHTEEN minutes later she seated me. FIFTEEN minutes later I asked a passing waitress if I could speak to the manager since plenty of wait staff had seen me, but not one single person had acknowledged me. Manager never came, but a waitress came by a few minutes later and said I'm not your server but I'll take your order if you want me to. What the heck. Place is run like a s&@$ show and servers are apathetic. BTW, before I asked to see the manager I saw her walking around counting how many tables were seated, but at no time did I ever see her help the one and only hostess or help any of the floor staff that obviously didn't care about anything except getting out of there. I've said numerous times that I'll never go back, but the kids love certain items, so I capitulate. read more

Walked in after a long day at 7:45 PM, stood waiting at the Hostess area for 5 minutes. Cashier was walking around the show room, the other cashier was cashing out customers. Others say this place "makes you feel welcome", after several employees walked past me without a simple "someone will be with you shortly" I simply did not feel welcome. No hostess and no service, other people came and got in line - still no hostess. I left disgusted that I chose to walk in the door in the first place. Might do Management well to teach their employees the 10 foot rule ! I will not return to this Cracker Barrel even though I typically stay next door at the Hampton inn when I am in the area. read more
