I tend to joke around a little, much to my wife's displeasure. Jordan went along with it, giving it right back. To me it's this kind of personal interaction that makes it a much more pleasant experience. Our table ordered a variety of food from French toast to a steak. Everything was cooked perfectly. Cracker Barrel is truly an "American" food establishment. The storefront has rocking chairs for sale as well as old fashioned American candy and lots of things to buy that are "country" including many seasonal items for Halloween, Fall, the holidays, etc. The staff are very friendly The food always comes out super fast. Their breakfast specials like the eggs, meats, has browns, biscuits, French toast and/or pancakes have so much food, we get 2-3 breakfasts out of them. Their coffee speciality drinks are priced 1/3-1/2 of other higher end coffee shop's prices and quite tasty. My husband and I were out and about running some late errands when we realized we needed to get dinner. We didn't even realize the time when we decided to head to Cracker Barrel. We pulled up and noticed how slow it was, which should have been our first indicator that they were closing soon. We were instantly greeted walking into the country store. Naya was at the hostess stand and got us sat. Conveniently, Naya was also our server tonight. My husband and I breezed over the menu and got dinner figured out pretty fast while drinks were being made. We were both starving. For dinner I got the hamburger patty with three sides. My sides were sweet whole baby carrots, country green beans and steamed broccoli. I also got my hamburger patty smothered in gravy and onions. My husband ordered the Country fried steak with the gravy on the side. His sides were corn and Mac and cheese. Our dinners did take a minute to be prepared. After we realized that we literally came in 5 minutes before closing, I told Naya that we can take our food to go. She said not to worry about it! I'm sure the kitchen was all cleaned and everything was put away when we headed in. We didn't mind the wait since they were even kind enough to let us eat at the table. My hamburger patty was perfectly cooked. They did forget the gravy and onions but once I added it, it was perfect! The gravy was on the saltier side so I only added a little to my patty. The carrots were tender and were slightly sweet, I wish they were a tad sweeter. The green beans were tasty and the broccoli was nicely steamed. My husband ate every bite of his country fried steak and his sides. Cracker Barrel always does a great job and consistently deliver a good country fried steak. Naya did a great job taking care of us tonight! She reassured us that we were ok taking our time eating our meals. She wasn't rushing us or mad at the fact that we showed up so late. I appreciate the service she gave us last night. I like the vibe at Cracker Barrel and looking around the Country store. If they were only close to us we would probably frequent the joint more often. Super friendly staff - restaurant is clean and all the amenities are full (sugar, salt, pepper,etc) Came here twice in 3 days for breakfast since we are staying at the hotel behind the restaurant. What came out was a single spear of broccoli covered in cheese. Seven tables around us were left uncleared (not bussed). This is our third time eating at this location. I do not recommend it until they fix the management and raise the standards. We love Cracker Barrell; it is one of our favorite eating locations (which is rare for us). My wife even toured their training location in TN in years past. The stores/restaurants in TN and KY are amazing. This specific location in Boise is not up to the company's otherwise wonderful standards. read more

The service here was great. The place is clean and it was close to my hotel. I ordered the build your own breakfast and got sausage (a bit dry) scrambled eggs, hash brown casserole and biscuits and gravy. Overall, not bad. I got the Benedict and it was honestly one of the best ones I've had. Nicely proportioned with two options of sides. I opted for tomato slices and grits. My dad always gets the Old Timer which is the basic necessities you want for a good old American Breakfast. The seasonal menu going on right now looks amazing and I already want to head back to try their limited options! Kathryn was our server. Wow! I'm no fan of comfort food, but this location is terrific. Our server, Madyson, was fantastic. She took good care of us during the entire meal. My only complaint is their French fries should be illegal. They are like crack! Once you start eating them, you're hooked--Crispy on the outside, hot and meaty on the inside. I threw up!!! Not sure what it was that I ate, but my entire meal went down the toilet. The server apologized and only brought me a cup of water to go. That's all that I got. I asked to speak with a manager who only offered to check a condiment that I was served, that's all. This is a large corporate chain, certainly, they could take a food item off my meal or offer a discount or offer a gift card for my next visit. Nothing. I went to pay and explained the situation, and the cashier said all she could do was discount the beverage, but she brought over her manager, who politely listened and compted my entire bill. That's 4 employees that I had to speak with about becoming sick on their food. I heard about cracker barrell for YEARS before I got to try the deliciousness that is their chicken and dumplings. My friends, it was well worth the wait. Full disclosure, I have no frame of reference when it comes the chicken and dumplings. I know many people have strong feelings about this dish because their meemaw/momma/auntie makes the best in thr land, but I'm not fortunate in that respect. Cracker Barrell's chicken and dumplings are comfort food defined and served with a side of cinnamon apples. We frequently stay overnight at Cracker Barrel locations across the USA when traveling in our RV. We rarely frequent the restaurant and with good reason. But after a 9 hour drive, we were just too tired to look for anything else and caved. We ordered pancakes and French toast for take out. Both were extremely bland. So I came here this past weekend only because my wife wanted to come here. So 1st off I usually hate coming because it involves either a shopping experience before or after. This is not my thing looking around at trinkets etc...plus when our kids where younger this would involve being $100 into Cracker Barrel before even sitting down. For breakfast this place is just ok and so mediocre. The reason for the extra star was our waitress Pamela. She said as absolutely amazing! So friendly and so attentive. She made this experience so much better. For food I had the Cracker Barrel Benedict which consisted of a base of biscuits, country sausage, gravy and only available with over easy eggs or scrambled and not a pouched eggs. But it could've been anything because the flavors where just meh meh and bla bla....this place always has and always will be just what it is. Cafeteria food but what it has going for it like the others I have been to are the always friendly employees and this weekend was no exception. For me I was just happy that my wife was disappointed as well and that means we don't have to come back. Sorry if this is blunt and I know how popular these places area. This was absolutely the worst food my husband and myself have ever had! The potatoes were instant potatoes that were very obviously made with water, no seasoning, and no card at all. The loaded potatoes were microwaved beyond being edible, the dumplings had minimal chicken and absolutely no flavor. The service was great but that isn't enough to ever make us go back. The restaurant was extremely unclean. There was two inches of dust and cobwebs on all the nick nacks that are hung conveniently right over where people are eating. If you're lucky some of the dust will fall in your food so maybe it will give it some flavor. read more

It truly was comfort food- and not bland or underwhelming as that can sometimes be. He went with chicken fried steak, i went with fried catfish. We both got dumplings, but he got mashed potatoes and I went with hashbrown casserole. Dumplings were awesome. Biscuits were awesome. Steak/Gravy and catfish was awesome. And for under $40- a steal. The first place I think of for complete meal comfort food. The chain has managed to keep price increases down to a minimum in 2023 while so many restaurants and other retailers are needing to really raise their prices more significantly. I did not have a good experience at this location - I wanted to and did order a turkey meal and what a disappointment. I now wish I would have taken a photo. there was one (1) thin slice of turkey 2 inch wide and 7 inches long and for the amount of money I had spent you would think they would have had more turkey portions and it looked as if I was not an important customer and I need to ad this is not the kind of experience I had received in the past. They had totally changed my attitude about this location and what I would expect in the future. We stayed at the Hilton Garden across the street and enjoyed breakfast here both days! The servers were excellent and good pancakes, French toast and the bacon was cooked just right. Our servers both were Shelley - they spelled their names differently and were delightful made us feel very welcomed. Highly recommend and would definitely be there again when we come back to Idaho. Cracker Barrel restaurant are very predictable and reliable. My husband has wanted to try their fried chicken. It was certainly hot and plentiful, with all the sides. It wasn't his favorite, but it was still good. Pretty typical good service and of course great shopping in the lobby. read more
