We were greeted by a pleasant hostess and seated in the side room. They neglected a kid's menu for the 2-1/2 year old. And silverware. Small things that make a difference. Food was mostly quite good. Small half portion of chicken fried steak was better than most. Hash browns and eggs just right. French toast was hot and looks great. Mine was flavorless bread with excellent whipped butter and only okay syrup. Wife's French toast with strawberries and whipped cream much better. Ham 'n eggs had a big slice of ham. Almost ham steak. Breakfast burrito stuffed. However bacon inside was not crispy at all. My decaf coffee was bland. Service was very good. (Young Redhead waitress was sincere and nice. We noticed that most every table was filled with seniors. This place is old school. Not fancy at all but clean. Not run down but old. Overall, not a bad experience. Sunrise Inn is a small, cozy breakfast spot with a warm, old-school diner feel. It's intimate and welcoming. We were greeted quickly, and although seating took a moment despite open tables, service overall was pretty fast. Food: The Country Platter was the better of the two platters. It came with hashbrowns layered with chicken-fried steak, gravy, cheese, and scrambled eggs. The gravy was underseasoned with an off consistency, and the portion felt small for the $16 price. The cinnamon roll included was dry and slightly hard, unfortunately--I was expecting something warmer and softer. The Sunshine Platter was similar but with pork sausage. Overall, it was just okay, though the two thick slices of buttered sourdough toast with strawberry jam were really good and the highlight of the dish. The Kids Strawberry & Banana Pancake with Eggs was pretty much the most solid choice. The pancake was soft, buttery, and very good, with generous toppings. Coffee: The coffee was extremely light and lacked strong flavor. We stopped drinking them, actually. Service: Service was quick and great. Despite the small, busy space, our waitress was attentive and friendly. Overall: Not the best, but a pretty decent spot for a Sunday breakfast. We left full and satisfied with the service. read more

When you are looking for the hidden jewels in any new town for a breakfast treat you look for the old school diners. In talking with people in the area there were about four places they mentioned. One, the Sunrise Inn, was mentioned often. I noticed it driving down 12th, strip mall, faded sign dated looking. It looked perfect. It took a few days to get over there and try it out. I walked in and all I could think was, "I hit the bonanza". Kitschy signs, a worn counter with stools, tables of all sizes strewn about and a seasoned wait staff that knew what they were doing. The menu for breakfast is dense with all the classics you can imagine from eggs to biscuits and gravy to pancakes and french toast, and even more! It is a lot to wade through, but I finally decided on the big biscuit breakfast. One huge split biscuit with sausage patties, scrambled eggs and gravy draped over the top. It also came with hash browns. While I was waiting for the order to get to me I paid close attention to the wait staff and the customers. Many people that walked in were greeted by name, most sat down and did not even need to look at a menu. This place was so classic! The food came pretty quick and was steaming hot. There was also no skimping on the amount of food. The biscuit was so light and fluffy, the sausage was not your typical machine pressed patty, this was sausage pressed flat on the grill almost like a smash burger. The eggs were fluffy, and the gravy was top notch. The hash browns were cooked perfectly. Yep, since I am here for a few more weeks this will be a breakfast staple for me. I love this place! It's rare that I eat an entire plate but man oh man, I polished off the entire omelette, hash browns and toast! I absolutely love the classic blue coffee mugs that keep your coffee hot and the staff that tops you off if they notice you're getting low. I'm so glad I found this little nugget. The classic ambiance and seasoned wait staff coupled with excellent cooks and kitchen staff make this place a Gem. I look forward to eating here again very soon. read more

We went here for breakfast for the first time on Sunday morning. The inside was cute and very farmhouse like. The place was packed and did not seem to have enough staff to keep up with the amount of patrons. They advertise as being family and kid friendly but didn't even have a kids menu for us or any type of color pages etc.. I honestly am not hard to please and very understanding in most situations, but the experience was just that bad. Just moved from Boise to Nampa two months ago and we needed to find a new "Go-to" breakfast place. We got a winner on the first try! Food: I ordered the corn beef hash with eggs over easy, hash browns and one biscuit and gravy. The corn beef hash was delicious. Very flavorful and juicy but with the edges fried enough to get that crunch. The gravy for the biscuit was good and proper. It wasn't remarkable but was delicious. I would order this again. There was plenty of food. I saw a lot of people bringing leftovers home, and there was a lot of "to go" orders being processed. Covid: Every other table was empty and the waitresses had masks on. Each table was rigorously cleaned between guests. I highly recommend this place for your next casual breakfast outing! read more

We have been loyal customers of Sunrise Inn for many years. I love everything I have ever ordered here but one day my husband ordered their Chicken Fried Steak and I took a bite and it was love at first bite. It's nice and crispy and seriously takes up most of the plate. After that visit it wasn't unusual to see us there a couple nights a week. Also a favorite is their Chicken Tortilla soup. Yum... I'm getting very hungry just writing this. I love their salads and 1000 Island dressing. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that they have changed their hours of operation. They no longer are open for dinner so we have not been there for 6 months or more. Instead of closing at 7 they close at 3 now and with our schedules we cannot get there by 3:00. I'm so disappointed because I'm craving their Chicken Fry. Due to not being able to eat their CFS I've started some experimental taste testing in my own kitchen to replicate their recipe and I'm pleased to say I think I nailed it. Maybe not 100%... but certainly 95% Now... gotta start on that Chicken Tortilla soup!! read more

They don't offer much that I can healthfully eat but I tend to make due or I just work out all the more harder so I can splurge a little! We've been here a few times over the years, and we've always had good country breakfasts here. Today I had the Cinnamon French Toast, and all I can say is "Yum". It was sooooo good! I love Cinnamon Toast, and I love French Toast, so I figured this was a safe bet for me, but when I started to taste it, this breakfast exceeded my expectations. Did I say Yum? Well, it was yummy! My wife also got the Cinnamon French Toast, and my son got blueberry pancakes and eggs. I enjoyed my breakfast so much, I forgot to ask them how theirs was. Since our plates were pretty much empty when we left, I think it is safe to assume that they enjoyed theirs as well. Another shock happened when we got the bill. The country fried steak was slightly too greasy for breakfast, but would have been palatable for a lunch or dinner. The portion sizes are decent and the wait time is fairly short. We came here on a Friday late morning and had two small children. The waitress greeted us and took our drink orders nearly immediately. She was keen to the fact that our children (and all children?) had very little patience. She came back shortly, we ordered breakfast foods (Vegetable platter, pancakes, hash browns, and eggs.). The food came out quickly and was really delicious. The hash browns may be some of the best we've ever had. The waitress seemed very experienced and was very pleasant. At first I was a little irritated because its seat yourself and for some god known reason people of a small party decide to take up the biggest table while leaving a big party to wait 20 minutes before they get seated in a small table that'll "get the job done". This was the last breakfast in Idaho with the whole family. Sunrise is a little hole in the wall and it's pretty good. I got a chicken fried steak (my go-to breakfast choice), eggs over easy, hash browns, and a huge biscuit on the side. The gravy was super tasty and totally right. The biscuits came with a strawberry sauce that was a little too sweet. But the biscuit itself was light and fluffy. Our waitress was very good and totally on top of coffee duty. We were a party of 10 and she handled it with ease. This seems to be a pretty long standing establishment and I imagine it will continue to do well. Stopped in for lunch today. Our server was Sarah and she was awesome! Super sweet and attentive. Our problem was that there was absolutely no air conditioning! It was sweltering. By the time we were informed of the problem, we'd already ordered our food and felt too guilty to just up and leave. Apparently the a/c has been out for a couple of days now. Why didn't the owners put up a sign so people would know what they're walking in to? Why not at least place box fans around the place? Started with potato soup that was out of this world, then pan fried chicken breast with sauteed mushrooms and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn. I haven't had a meal this good away from home for a very long time. The chef/cook definitely has talent!
