I have had such a conflicted relationship with Cracker Barrel restaurants over the years, but this was actually a pretty good visit. I was in town on a completely random flight cancellation, and so I had a local homeboy of mine pick me up and we decided to stop at the Cracker Barrel and have some breakfast before he dropped me back off at the airport to get back home. From the moment we walked in This was a pretty positive experience. We were immediately seated and our server, a four star sister, who clearly have a lot of experience at the restaurant immediately came over and took our order. We both ordered small breakfast plates but we did have the mimosas. And I was really happy the server suggested we get a pitcher instead of individual drinks because it was a much better deal. He wanted strawberry and I wanted Apple so she bought us the mixes separately and we were able to share a picture of mimosas together. The food came out pretty quick and was definitely cooked to order and tasty. We were in and out of the entire restaurant in less than an hour. This is definitely a location I would check out again when back in Charlotte and looking for some quick breakfast options. read more

This is our normal spot for Saturday lunch for me and my son. It's a mixed bag of what you gonna get. Today me and my wife decided to go here for lunch. We arrived at 11:30am and man it was packed. Parking is not that big so all parking gets filled up quickly. The meal really depends who serves you. Today we have a wonderful server. She was dealing with 2 tables that was complaining and we felt bad for her. But her service to us was still pretty good. the food was good as always. Giving them a 4 for today as everything went well except for waiting for the parking space to open up. Will Cracker Barrel not your socks out no? Had an "okay" breakfast here. Coffee was pretty good and refills were complimentary. We had to hail our waitress for the first refill, but she came around a couple times after that. I had the Grandfather's Breakfast with two over easy eggs, chicken fried steak, and hash browns, extra crisp. I was surprised when there was no gravy on the chicken fried steak; I've always had it served with gravy. I asked for gravy, but it was never brought. My dining companion had gravy with his biscuits and gravy, so I used some of his. Without the gravy, it was a bit dry, but seasoned well. The gravy helped. The hash browns were very crispy and delicious. I wouldn't consider the food gourmet, but it was good enough for a quick, hearty meal with good sized portions. read more

Welcome to the new Cracker Barrel. These people couldn't find their keister with both hands in the daylight on their best day. Apparently, menu changes have already taken place. The pinto beans looked anemic and were dry. My wife couldn't eat them. The green beans and corn tasted like they just came straight out of the can. The dumplings were like Elmer's Glue. The dining room was empty, but our waitress service was nonexistent. We had a coupon complements of their phone app. We ordered a piece of cake to go to allow the dollar amount of the ticket to qualify for the coupon. When we get to the cash register, the coupon wouldn't scan. A manager had to be summoned. We waited for 10-15 minutes. We said "take the dessert off, and we will just pay for what we ate". The cashier couldn't do that either. I said that we should just leave. The security guard, now at my elbow, told me that we needed to pay. The guard has taken all this in and acts like I'm skipping out without paying. I've been standing at the cash register for 15 minutes. The security guard said .that they were "busy". I told the guard that the place was almost empty and that they may have to chase me across the parking lot. The manager finally comes and announces that the coupon isn't valid. According to the date on the coupon, it was valid. Since we couldn't use the coupon, we told them to keep the dessert that we had ordered to reach the minimum threshold for the coupon. The entire staff was incompetent. We won't be going back. By the way, does EVERY Cracker Barrel need to have a security guard at the cashiers' stand (nobody uses cash). Either they are in a perilous location, or customers snap as a result of poor customer service. read more

My Wife and I went to this location for breakfast to grab a bite to eat in late September and the service was absolutely horrible to the point where we almost left. We ordered simple meals and waited nearly 30 mins to be waited on after being seated amongst other failures. Well, I went back again this time on my own thinking that maybe the business was having a bad day that day, we all have them. Boy oh boy was I wrong. It was even worse this time. Gone downhill since the last review and that's reflected in a reduced customer base. Used to be a regular stop over before or after flights out of Charlotte Douglas Airport. Moved to Denver NC about 4 years ago and changed the dynamics abet since we were coming from different directions. Susan was flying back from Pittsburgh, and she was going to be hungry and not willing to drive a long distance for dinner. From past experience, thought this would be a good alternative. Used to be very good to the point that you had to experience a wait of 10 to 30 minutes or more depending on the time of day. Pulled in around 4:30 pm which is the beginning of the dinner rush. No wait and immediately seated. Granted we were in the overflow dining area but at no time during our visit was it more than 20% occupied. Our server was there quickly with menu's and to take our beverage order. My wife wanted just water and since it was cool outside, I ordered Black Coffee and was never offered a refill. My wife ordered the Chicken Pot Pie which was different from any other Chicken Pot Pie she had ordered from Cracker Barrel. It was huge but did not come with sides which was OK because she ordered sides in addition. Problem was the server had not been trained with what the particular order did not come with. She had to come back and modify the order. My order was the Southern Fried Chicken Dinner and for sides, I ordered Fried Okra and Pinto Beans. The Chicken was excellent, and portions were great. but okra was undercooked and the pinto beans grossly overcooked. Beyond this, dinner was mediocre at best and a far cry from what we experienced in the past. Needs work and more training for the staff. From the beginning, the hostess did not know where to seat us and even had a dispute with one of the servers and ended up asking he where I wanted to be seated. Told them, anywhere would be fine so long as we got served. Near the end of the meal, both my wife and I excused ourselves to use the restrooms. At the time, we asked for our check, and it finally showed up 30 minutes later. Big mistake on my part because the Men's Room was filthy, and the trash receptacle was overflowing out onto the floor. I did not personally check out the lady's room, but my wife reported the same. Used to be very good but has gone way downhill since the last review. Probably this is the worst review I have ever given a Cracker Barrel and hopefully they will improve. First step is better employee training. read more

So a couple weeks ago i ordered some food from Cracker Barrel Old Country Store the one on Queen City drive in charlotte got a veggie plate , I went to take a bite out of my dumplins and when I bit into it I cracked part of my tooth on a small silver metal ball almost looked like a Bebe so I called and said something I was reassured I would be taken care, of and i wasnt helped in the least no refund no help at all mind you ive spoken to multiple managers the past couple weeks so now when I call im either on hold for hours waiting or nobody is available . There was no sense of urgency no help no nothing so now legal action is gunna be taken . It was really pathetic how they acted like this was normal . I want to start with I haven't had Cracker Barrel in over 10 years. By far my worst food experience of the last month, I've been in town for 4 weeks for work and eating out twice a day. Steamed broccoli was cold and hard, Mac and cheese was cold, country fried steak tasted like the blandest hamburger I've ever had, vegetable soup was room temperature and tasted like I was eating unseasoned Lima beans only. I've been going to Cracker Barrel for most of my life. So when visiting South Carolina/North Carolina recently, I wanted my youngest daughter to have the same positive experiences that I've had in the past while dining at this southern icon. Although I have never been to this location, my expectations were that the quality and environment would be on par with the other Cracker Barrels that I have visited in the past . . . Sadly, this experience was not that good. Although we were seated right away and the server acknowledged us immediately, our food took nearly 30 minutes to arrive at the table. I've attached a photo of the "southern meatloaf" and honestly it looked and tasted as if they took it out of a tv dinner and flopped it on my plate. It was absolutely terrible. In hindsight, I guess I should have complained, but time limitations (we had somewhere to be after our meal) were preventing me from spending too much time wallowing over bad meatloaf. Hopefully the manager will see this review and photo (as well as the other one star reviews) and acknowledge that this is an unacceptable representation of the Cracker Barrel brand. read more

After a long day of traveling with several delays in flight and car rental, we were tired and hungry so quickly checked into our motel. Then headed to Cracker Barrel, very close and my wife's favorite place. Bad choice. We were able to park right out front and be seated right away. Not too busy, half the dining area unused, but a large (12) party near. Very loud. Server brought menus and drinks while we decided, but no straws. My wife chose the Roast Beef with green beans and mashed potatoes. I went for the Country Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and okra. Server left us a basket of biscuits but no silverware or napkins. So I squeezed butter from little pack to biscuit. We didn't see server for 20 minutes, then she brought our meals. Our meat and side was barely warm and potatoes were cold. Apparently had been sitting for awhile. We would have sent them back but we were very hungry and didn't want to wait another 20 minutes, so we ate. Still no napkins but I flagged the manager (?) walking around and he brought napkins. Later flagged him for more water and tea. Never saw the server again. After we finished eating, my wife went shopping. I waited 10 minutes no server. So I went out to counter and told them where we sat. They brought ticket then said it had already been paid online! I grew up going to Cracker Barrels on road trips since I was a kid. As an adult, I don't tend to pass them as much. But every once in a while I have to make a stop at the local one in town to get my fix, which this location would be it. I've been here many times and the service tends to be a little slower than most Cracker Barrels I have been to, but the food is always good and how could their shopping experience while you wait or after you eat be a bad thing! They always have fun items or something that catches my eye on sale that I just can't turn down! Food and shopping is always a great experience for me! As far as the staff at this location, especially during my last visit when I was just doing a pick up order, is another story. Their unfriendly demeanor, unhelpful presence, lack of attention to detail and lack of empathy have really forced me to space out my visits here... and it was no different this past visit. I will definitely be driving out of my way to go to another location from now on. The manager working the morning of 11/23/24 was the icing on the cake to that. I am not one to write bad reviews and give restaurants a handful of chances before going straight to a negative review, however, after countless mediocre service experiences and unhelpful/unfriendly attitudes from employees here every time, I felt it was time. To give a little insight into my most recent experience, I was just going to pick up a pie where I had chosen a pick up time and it wasn't ready. I'm a little confused by this as it was a pre order and I know they are not baking the pies and bringing them straight out to the customer who is purchasing them. Typically they pre-make these the day before or morning of so they are ready for pick up, especially around the holidays. After waiting 15 minutes after my order I asked one of the four employees standing around if they could check on an ETA. After another 5 mins I asked for an updated and they said they didn't have one, so I asked to speak to a manager. She was very rude when interacting then said she would go personally go check on it and bring it out when it was ready. She immediately returned with my pie (proving it was ready, just no one had properly checked on it to bring it out to the front). When she got to me she didn't say a word and shoved it into my stomach. Not hard, but it was very unprofessional and I was speechless. I've never been treated so unkind and felt so unwelcome from an establishment that I was purchasing from. I almost asked for a refund and left it, but that would mean I would've had to stay there longer which was not happening. If you're just going for the food and don't care how you're treated or the service, or just going into shop all of their fun storefront items... This could still be the place for you. But if you're wanting to feel welcome and treated like a customer should at an establishment, then this location is not for you. Everyone's time is precious and these days and when you have a pick up time, reservation, etc... I think we all expect respect in honoring that. I know we all have encountered a dip in the service industry at times (esp post-Covid), but this was one I couldn't shake and I just hate it. read more

(3/7/24) I was asked to attend a mandatory breakfast meeting for work at this Cracker Barrel location. Let's just say that the location is sketchy. I parked my truck and waited for the rest of my coworkers to arrive. When enough people arrived we went inside. The interior was like any other Cracker Barrel. You have to wade through the general store area to reach the dining room. We were seated at one of the large round tables & provided with menus. I ordered hot chocolate while my coworkers chose coffee. The hot chocolate was not good. There was more tepid water than there was powdered chocolate. I ordered the hash brown casserole. It was barely warm and had no flavor whatsoever. The others inhaled their food and everyone left as quickly as possible. Our server was having to leave and switch over ... cool... so I thought .. we waited over a hour for food .. never was checked on after .. finally went to the host stand for a box ... host was on her phone walking towards the kitchen .. then stayed in the kitchen for 5 more mins . We were told by the waitress that we could not change the hamburger steak that was covered in garlic sauce and instead just put gravy on it. My husband ordered a salad and over 15 minutes later we were told they were out of salads. My husband expressed surprise and disappointment but did not raise his voice. He ordered another entree. Someone who appeared to be a senior waitress spoke to us and we expressed the same concern. We were told the waitress was fairly new. We had also been told they were backed up. (Only one side of the restaurant was being used.) Then the manager came out and told us that since we had a problem with the waitress they "wouldn't subject her having to continue waiting on us." When the food arrived, the mashed potatoes were dry and had a grayish color. When the manager brought the food, she also brought the ticket, take out boxes and to go drinks.
