Saw that this Cracker Barrel was a hopping spot so decided to give it a try. My friend and I were seated immediately. Our waitress arrived and we already knew what we wanted. I asked about the beer selection because this is a first seeing it on the menu. She returned stating they only had michelob ultra. My friend and I both ordered the fried chicken 4 piece special. I got the mac n cheese and the mashed potatoes with gravy for my sides, plus biscuits. My friend got the fried chicken special, Broccoli, steak fries, and cornbread. I did order one of the beers with my meal. We didn't have to wait long. 5 - 10 minutes if i recall correctly. The chicken was good. My mashed potatoes and gravy, mac n cheese was all good. My friend said his Broccoli wasn't that great and the cornbread wasn't either. His fries were also undercooked. I tried a bite of his broccoli and a fry. Broccoli was a little undercooked but still edibile. The cornbread wasn't the greatest. Fries were maybe slightly undercooked as well. I think he was just being picky. The food was really good. However, there is a limited breakfast menu due to the Thanksgiving weekend. Very limited, not very many choices as I am a accustomed to with a Cracker Barrel. The service was good. The waitress was not as attentive as I would expect at a Cracker Barrel. I am still waiting for a refill on my drink. The food was hot and tasty and great presentation. The dining room is your typical Cracker Barrel dining room with the roaring fireplace, which is great and the old antiques hanging from the walls and the ceiling. I have not had a quick or great experience here in about 3 years which is unfortunate because it's about midway between my family's house so it's an easy meeting location for us. Last time we met around 7 pm. we waited about an hour for food for 3 of us; my nieces mini pancakes were burnt. Idk why you'd even serve them. We asked to remake and one side was burnt again and cold inside. Disappointing. Seemed the griddle was too hot. This time we met at about 730 pm. We didn't get out until 845 pm. Chicken breasts were burnt on the outside again, but didn't bother sending them back. The salad had wilted lettuce. The corn bread as hard as a hockey puck. I will say my home style chicken was great. Loved the flavor of it. Overall, I really can't recommend coming here. Too many negatives outweigh the positives read more

This place did not really did not get off to a great start.wait long enough to get waited..Was told they were out of the special. Then I was told they were out of all their soups. I have had issues with this chain at more than one location this was with various issues that basically should not happen. Now when the meal got to the table one meal was lukewarm at best (fish should not be lukewarm)The other was missing a vegetable. Maybe I asking too much. And I'm already a little upset based on visits of other locations. I guess you have to be tolerant and have patients with this chain before you go here. #78/2022 Like any other cracker barrel that's pretty much the same. You have your old fashioned general store the bathroom and the restaurant. This one's big with the locals during the peak hours it brings them out and it definitely brings the wait. I parked my truck across at the McDonald's with the truck parking and came over and came in and looks like the morning rushes was over just before the lunch rush I showed up. I got seated right away I noticed the tables were all cleaned the office was a nice one. Having read the reviews on both Yelp and Google I noticed there's touch and go here and there but looks like you're doing a really good job I wouldn't need to be done. I didn't wait long before I was asked what I wanted to drink she brought out what I wanted the cawfee didn't need a menu I decided on one of my favorites that I like when I come to cracker barrel for breakfast. They call it the Mommas Breakfast I put a little change as I have to add blueberries for 50 cents and you get the yummy blueberry syrup. I learned this is a lot cheaper if you want eggs meat and cakes. Otherwise you ordered the blueberry pancake breakfast you're going to pay more for the eggs so it's simple to do it this way I just add the blueberries. So Bada Bing Bada Boom... Done Food came out and the quality of the pancakes were great they were light and fluffy little bit of crisp on the edges blueberries were fantastic sausage was nice and hot the eggs were soft scrambled the way I like them so no complaints at all. It's good to know if you get there early enough cuz at McDonald's tends to fill up and you don't want to eat at Ronald's house you can walk over here to the CB. Show reflecting on my experience only it's definitely 4.5 stars so I'm giving the full 5 bar. I was very impressed it was above average to me keep up the good work. Also shout out to my server Donna. Based on my most recent experience and combined with my previous visits (more than 7 or 8 years ago) I still cannot understand the popularity of these restaurants. Today's experience was yet another example of the mediocre service and food provided in the past. Start with the hostess. During an early dinner period and in a room less than 50% occupied, she attempted to seat us at the very first table in the restaurant and it hadn't even been wiped (she started clean it when I asked for another table. She then explained that servers "get mad" when customers don't sit where she attempts to place them. My response, "I don't care. I don't care to sit at the doorway of a half empty restaurant." She was stunned and obviously untrained. Our server was a nice young man but disappeared for 10 minutes at a time even though he appeared to have less than 4 tables, all nearby. Anyway I hope he feels like he's being trained as he's making an effort. My "Hamburger Steak" (see photo) arrived promptly and very "Well Done" despite my request for "Medium." It was chewy and, like any overcooked hamburger, dry. Broccoli was cooked well and seasoned with the usual Cracker Barrel mixture mixture. Mashed potatoes were a cardiologist's nightmare but a butter vendors dream. You get the picture. I was forced to try Cracker Barrel because the only nearby option was fast food. When next faced with the same challenge, I'm going with one of the fast options where, in spite of not selling rocking chairs, the food will be predictable and the staff won't be upset with my choice of tables...oy! read more

I'm not mad. Just disappointed. Everything was fine, until we ordered. Even though the restaurant was pretty empty, it a long time for them to get our three meals out, one of which was pancakes, and the other two weren't supposed to take long. I ordered a shrimp skillet, w/ dumplings and turnip greens. The rice was under cooked and plated horrifically, they forgot the dumplings, but the greens were fine. So when I told the waitress about the rice and dumplings, she took my plate and left to the kitchen, then came back in less than a minute with my unchanged plate and my dumplings. She said there wasn't any rice left. I said that's fine and the waitress said she would take the shrimp off the bill. I then ate my undercooked and clumped together dumplings that had way too much chicken broth in them. And to top off this experience, she didn't take the shrimp off the bill. We got that fixed of course, but still. I shouldn't need to ask to take anything off the bill in the first place. Don't come here until they get their act together. read more

I am absolutely infuriated by the fact that they have sapped all of the flavor from the inside, painted the walls white, and got rid of about 80% of every single decoration; all of the decorations and character of this place is what makes Cracker Barrel what it is. Waited for over an hour and then they bring our check with no food. We weren't the only table with issues. The food at this Cracker Barrel was not very good. I had their south fried chicken and it was terrible. It was dry and tasted like they cook it yesterday and then warm it up. The server we had was good and kept checking with us. We also had the southern fried shrimp . They was the tiny shrimp. It actually look like it was shrimp you would us in dips. I also notice no one was using good hygiene when serving and handling food. I notice a couple servers was dusting pictures on the mantel and then wiping hands on their clothes then serving the customer. Most Cracker Barrel are pretty good but I would not recommend this one in Crawfordville IN. read more

Not my first Cracker Barrel but my first time here. The staff is nice. We got seated quickly. I ordered a chicken sandwich that had some kind of sloppy sauce on it that made a mess of everything. I had to throw out the soggy bun and eat the chicken breast with a knife and fork. I would not order a chicken sandwich from this place again. But then, they really aren't known for making a great chicken sandwich - the rest of the menu is good, I know for a fact. I just will never order any kind of sandwich from any Cracker Barrel anywhere ever again. Lesson learned. read more

Ah man... back home in North Carolina we make fun of Cracker Barrel to no end, simply because there is no shortage of places to get actual southern cooking around. Well, I found myself in small town Indiana, and this was pretty much one of two places to eat at in my vicinity, so I ate there twice. First first lunch was decent, the next day for breakfast... it was just plain bad. Like real bad. Like... worst breakfast I have ever had bad. The lunch, meatloaf, man n cheese, green beans, cornbread was alright. I do actually like their cornbread quite a bit. Wouldn't turn my nose up at this one, and in general, I have had good lunch and dinner experiences at these types of places. My breakfast? Pretty much the worst. Asked for cornbread, the server said no problem. Meal came out, no cornbread. Asked about cornbread, she then said they only make it closer to lunch. Well why didn't you tell me that to begin with? Fine. I'll eat biscuits. Which were pretty much the best part of the terribleness laid before me. My eggs? Cold. They had a crusty sheen to them. Not cooked right to begin with, then roasted below a heat lamp. My country ham was just plain county ham, and overcooked to boot. The hasbrown casserole was laughably bad, again, cold and congealed looking. The grits were the saddest grits I've ever looked upon. They were so... watery. The country gravy was just plain avoided after one small spoonful. Not even the tea was good. This was an insult to what "Sweet Tea" is anywhere south of Virginia. Blech. read more

Taking the lack of employees into mind I'll just review the food. The server and everyone we talked to were really, really nice and went out of their way to please us. Hubs had the catfish and he says it was delicious. I had coffee and it was so old there was scum in the top. I really needed coffee so they brewed a fresh pot. When it came it was extremely weak. I think they forgot to put new grounds in the basket. I got a breakfast and could only eat part of it. The scrambled eggs were runny and not cooked. The bacon was raw. 2 of the pieces had not even been separated. The French toast was yummy. I took half the French toast and the uncooked bacon back to our camper and cooked it for the next morning. The eggs were not worth saving. After asking if they could make fresh coffee I really didn't want to complain again about the food. Our waitress was training a new person and they were both extremely busy. So.... This being said they were probably short staffed even though there were lots of people there. The dining room still wasn't at capacity with several tables still blocked off. We waited about 10 minutes for a table and 50 minutes for the food. read more

The electronic seating system that the hostess was using either wasn't working or the hostess couldn't figure it out. It wasn't a long wait. But either figure it out or go back to write on-wipe off, which worked fine. The iced tea is the worst I've ever had and it has been that way since this location opened. We talked to the manager about it years ago. And since then it has not improved. They say they filter the water. But the tea is horribly cloudy and looks like muddy water. The one star server Liz just stared at me when I talked about the tea. Of course since the tea was also warm there were only about 3 ice cubes in each glass. So I asked for two additional glasses of just ice for my wife and I so I could actually have ice in my ice tea. So then she brought two glasses of ice.... But only HALF full. I mean, really??? Besides training people I guess the management needs to teach them how to THINK and use common sense. We will go out of our way to avoid this CB in our travels if we can think of another option. Food is taking quite a while to arrive even though they were not crowded at all... Fewer than half of tables are occupied. People behind us got here after us and got their food first. I'm changing my review now from two stars to one. Ok. Back to two stars rating instead of one. Food was good and server tried to do her job. This place still needs major improvement.
