This is my third time at burtons grill . And as always we had a great time . The atmosphere is great beautiful decor on the inside comfortable seating and lightening . They even have outdoor seating ( covered to allow shade) . The service is always great . Our server was very polite , attentive, asked about allergies , gave his suggestions , and constantly checked in on us to make sure we had everything . For started I got the firecracker shrimp , which had a sweet and tangy sauce which was delicious highly recommend ( I personally didn't think it was spicy but had great flavour ) For my entree I got the California chicken sandwich which was really good . Highly recommend and I got the side of truffle fries which had just the right amount of truffle ( since I personally don't like to much truffle ) Plenty of flavour . I also ordered the aperol spritz which was nice and light and refreshing . My friend ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly to what he wanted. Nice light seasoning with salt and pepper and juicy on the inside . Served with delicious mashed potatoes and green beans . The espresso martini he said was his second best he's ever tasted ! First, I want to say that the manager I met was so kind and hospitable. He checked in on me, asked if I needed a suggestion when he saw me struggling with a choice, and he even offered to get me a dessert! He was well-versed in gluten free options, and I appreciated how hard he worked running dishes, assisting servers where he could, and still taking care of customers. Now for the food! Food was solid, but I was looking for more WOW. Now, the appetizers were WOW. Gluten free calamari and the Bang Bang Cauliflower were WOW. I could not have told that they were gluten free! Especially the calamari! The coating stuck to the calamari well and was not too greasy. The cauliflower was very good, and while I would have enjoyed a little less sauce, it was so much fun to eat such a crispy delicious bite of fried broccoli. I also had the octopus and roasted potatoes, and while the octopus was cooked well and was delicious, the roasted potatoes were almost rubbery. I wanted them hotter, roasted, browned and crispy a little bit, but they were plain. The dish came with a corn succotash as well, but I I was looking for a different flavor with this dish. I also got the gluten free lobster roll, and maybe it's the style I wasn't a big fan of (warm buttered), but I think there's an opportunity to butter the roll itself and toast it on a griddle to invoke that crispy buttered roll that screams lobster roll deliciousness. The fries were great. I live it when they aren't too thin, a little thicker, nicely salted, and that perfect crunchy crispy brown and caramelized with a soft center. Romesco was ice cold, garlic mashed potatoes were cold, green beans were lukewarm and salmon was hot. I was extremely disappointed with this dish and its over $30. We also ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, which was rich with spinach, artichoke hearts, parmesan, tomato-jalapeño relish, and served with tortilla chips. It was genuinely tasty. For my main course, I went with the Steak Frites, featuring a charred flatiron steak served with béarnaise sauce and Parmesan-truffle fries. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The truffle fries were crispy and well-seasoned, and the truffle flavor really made them stand out. It was a simple yet satisfying dish. My friends chose the crispy fish sandwich, comprising fried haddock, pickled red onions, pickles, tartar sauce, all nestled in a brioche bun with a side of French fries. Another friend ordered the general Tso bowl, which included braised chicken glazed with general Tso sauce, along with charred broccoli, a rice-and-quinoa blend, julienned vegetables, toasted almonds, scallions, cilantro, sesame seeds, and ginger aioli. Burtons is at the better choice for upscale restaurants that are still offering casual dining and cocktails. Our reservation was right on time, and I would recommend calling ahead as they book up quickly. Our service was a bit below average, but the food was above average. The cocktails lacked a bit of creativity, but that was made up by the charming bartenders who were very attentive. We should've eaten at the bar as our server was the only downfall in a rather busy evening. He ghosted us for about 25mins between ordering and the food coming out. We would've ordered more drinks and a bottle of wine while we waited for our food but never saw him. So they fell short on service, but the food was good and the bar was fun. I met my girlfriend for dinner on Thursday night. We were seated quickly and greeted by the waitress. We ordered passion berry mock tails to start. They were pretty and delicious. We both opted for the fillet and crabcakes special. I have a gluten allergy and was happy to see so many gluten-free items available on the menu, including the crabcakes on the special. My fillet was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My GF had risotto instead of potato. She said it was lovely and flavorful. We both had dessert. Returned to Burtons after that amazing short rib experience 6 years ago, but not as lucky this time around. The ordering: I asked the waitress if they still have short ribs? She said yes & pointed to the dinner menu, the $34 dinner short ribs as the only option (lunch time, 12:15pm). I hesitated but bit the bullet in the end, only to find out that there is a $24 lunch option with short ribs. I wanted to switch but too late. I felt misled, not a good start. Comment below please let me know your thoughts. Do you think she didn't mention lunch short ribs on purpose? or she just didn't know? The food: It's far from what I remembered, not very tasty, my son said it tasted like my beef stew, nothing special, lol. It's missing the fatty connective tissues, so the "short ribs" showing lean long muscle fibers look more like chuck roast? See the picture & let me know if you think it's really short ribs? My son had burger & he said it's not as good as 5 guys burgers. The fries also look a bit over cooked. The Check: I was presented a digital check with tip options 20, 22, & 25%. There's no 15% or even 18%, just too much. I tried to do the custom tip 18% but it came out 18 dollars instead, now I am at 30%. With the waitress hovering over me, holding the digital check & watching me the whole time, I felt pressured, embarrassed & then rushed to select the 20% from the default tip choices just to get it over with so I can run out of there. The ambience, food and service were really good for a snowy day. We went to celebrate my kids' bday with family friends. We got bread service which was delicious with 3 different dips. We also got bang bang shrimp which disappeared in a moment. For entrees we got chicken and mushroom ravioli which was the best, swordfish which was not great, papardelle pasta with meat sauce which is not my favorite. It's pretty much smashed blackberries with whiskey. It was yummy! The bread service was absolutely soft and delicious! Gotta try it with all the butter, pesto and sauce! We had two of them! Burton's is one of those places that I've had bookmarked for a long time. We have walked by it many times while visiting Evergreen shops and the look of it, from the elegant seating, fancy people dining, to the captivating smells of delicious food draw you in. Unfortunately, that's kind of where it ended for us though. We came in for a late lunch around 2pm. We were seated right away and were really impressed by the interiors and serviceable wait staff. All of that is important but what does it mean when the food isn't that great? I'm guessing that maybe it's because there are so many older folks that dine here and maybe they take sodium into consideration but everything we ate was bland - I'm talking like not seasoned at all. I ordered the classic salad and added salmon, asked for it to be cooked medium and it was soooo dry and just not good. The salad was iceberg lettuce and a few tomatoes, a cheap sprinkling of cheese and maybe a piece of cucumber or two. I know that things are tough, and I guess it's reflected in the salad toppings cause I feel like I pretty much paid $26 for iceberg. (see pic) The Maxx burger was good, other than being underseasoned. My brother had asked for french fries and got green beans instead but they were quick about fixing the issue. Also, we had to wait for silverware and napkins as it wasn't on the table nor did our waitress provide it for us. The fried fish sandwich and fries was just ok, also underseasoned. Burtons was a nice spot for a casual brunch. My friend and I met there at 11:00am. We have similar tastes, so we both opted for the crab cake Benedict, except she ordered gluten-free bread and I had regular with greens on the side. I'm not always a fan of crab cake, but the waitress said it was lump crab, and we were both glad we went with her suggestion! It was the best crab cake Benedict I've had in a long time. It tasted fresh, lots of juicy crab and it just tasted good. We each ordered a latte (I had her add mocha to mine) and it was good. The serve was good. My third time here and it was really disappointing. I am not sure if they change the chef however my steak was burnt . I have ordered well done steak the last 2 times and it was never burnt and dry. We had a large party and the servers did their best however there was alot of complaints about the quality of the food. I want to really like this place but I have to say...came here for brunch two times and have been disappointed with the food. First time I ordered the short rib hash and eggs. The hash was completely burnt on the bottom. They were nice to offer something else but we didn't have time to wait for a new entree and by the time someone came to check on us everyone else had finished their food. Second time I ordered chicken and waffles. The waffles had actual chunks of sugar in them making them disgustingly over-sweet. I asked the waiter if they were supposed to be like and isn't the batter supposed to be smooth? He checked and came back and said,that's how them make them, were supposed to be like that. There were some nice options for the kids as well. The steak frites were fantastic, the steak cooked to temp, and the truffle Parmesan fries are addictive. The crab cakes were so flavorful, it was like kissing the sea - but in a good way. When I heard "seven layer" cake, for some reason I thought it would be massive, but it was rich and delicious. This is possibly my first time here! The restaurant is located at The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk, 100 Evergreen Way in South Windsor. The building is huge! The outside is very clean. They have a nice is too too! They start me off with a quick ice water here at the bad which has about a dozen chairs and 4-5 tables. For my first drink, I'm having an Old Fashioned. It made with redemption bourbon, vanilla brown sugar, angostura bitters and spiced cranberry bitters. This is one of the best happy hours I have seen! It goes from 3:30-6:30 which is longer than normal. This tastes just perfect and is garnished just right! I like the large, circular ice cube which dilutes the drink much slower than ice. For my first item, I'm trying a Crab Cake Slider. This is made with blue crab, mixed field greens, remoulade sauce, slider bun and house-made potato chips. This is new! I've never had this type of slider before! It's nice and cool in here on a hot, spring day. This slider is good! I love these chips too! At least they use cloth napkins and metal utensils. For my next food item, I'm having the Bang Bang Broccoli made with firecracker sauce, scallions, cilantro, sesame seeds and togarashi ginger aioli. For my next drink, I'm having a Desert Flower. This is made with espolòn reposado tequila, pelotón de la muerte mezcal, elderflower liqueur, lemon and prickly pear. This is quite a big dish! It's fried, but pretty light. It has a slight kick to it. It is GF believe it if not! Look at that cool garnish! It's like a fried lime wheel. It tastes great! The Mezcal stands out. Next up, I'm having the Superfood Salad made with spinach, avocado, quinoa, grape tomatoes, julienned vegetables, feta, dried cranberries and lemon vinaigrette. For my next drink, I'm having a Sunsplash Sangria made with pinot grigio, orange vodka, elderflower, gran gala, hibiscus, lemon, mango. Gran Gala is a rare blend of VSOP Italian Brandyinfused with the rich and lively flavor of fresh oranges. This is good! It's not too sweet either. The salad came out in record time! 2 minutes?! This salad is good! It's light, easy to eat, has height and a lot of color! For my last drink, I'm having a Lychee Martini made with Tito's handmade vodka, lychee and honey. For my entree, I'm having the Salmon Romesco made with bronzed salmon, fennel slaw, romesco sauce, haricots verts and roasted fingerling potatoes. For being in a shopping mall and a chain, I was really blown away. Started with the Caesar salad and they make their own garlicy dressing. It was probably the best Caesar I've ever had. Wow. For an entree I the General Tso bowl. Amazing flavor. They are so accommodating to food allergies/sensitivities and substitutions. We stopped into Burton's a few weeks ago because we heard that they have a great gluten free menu! It did not disappoint, almost everything on the menu can be gluten free (and celiac safe). The service is friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and super helpful! We ordered the bread service (YUM), the calamari, fish sandwich, and a side of Mac n cheese. Everything was cooked perfectly, and tasted great. The restaurant is VERY loud especially as more people fill in. Tables are close together. I sat at the bar being by myself and the bartender was nice and the food came quickly. Drink was strong but also pretty delicious. Not overpowered by sugar or anything. The food came out fast after placing my order, and it was steaming hot. The french fries were nice and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Steak was cooked to my order of medium rare. The chimichurri was sweeter than I prefer and not as herbaceous, but I'd order it again. Will probably visit again the next time I'm in town for business. But multiple times during our lunch there were 3-5 employees clustered at the host desk chatting or on their phones.
