ASIAN RIBS - so so good!
    Tanya S.

This was our first time visiting Roberto's. We went for a Father's Day lunch. We ordered few appetizers including the Bao Buns, Asian sticky ribs and the spinach and artichoke dip with warm toasted pita. That was my favorite! Their Baked Cod was huge over a bed of mashed potatoes and veggies. My son ordered Buffalo wings. Bourbon steak tips were really good too. I had a Lavender Lemonade and they have a nice assortment of beer. We had a really nice server and the atmosphere is definitely chic and good for date nights on the rooftop area.

So I used to always go to Jonathan pasco's restaurant here in my now hometown of East Windsor.... And when they shut down and rebranded with new ownership of Roberto's, I'll be honest. I just never tried it until the other day... And I am so glad I did!. First off, the restaurant is always gorgeous. It is in a 1776 historic home of Captain Jonathan Pasco. ( With additions) Staff was great. Friendly and fast. And with my recent health issues and diet changes, it was really great to see a menu that was laid out the way it is, especially with everything with gluten-free options, carb free as well since I am on keto. My best friend Josephine is also gluten-free so she went with the same option with her burger She also had a fried egg and bacon on hers. She can eat carbs so she had some sweet potato fries which looked and smelled delicious... I'm just happy to get out and enjoy some restaurants. Def check them out and the easy to read menu if you have allergies or on a diet. And of course the gorgeous 1776 historic home.

I went to Roberto's for the churros. I saw a photo, grew enamoured, and thought, "One day..." The day came sooner than normally does when I found myself in East Windsor for dinner. Roberto's is part of a larger strip mall in what seems to abutt a condo community. There is a reasonable amount of parking though, and you get in and out at a light. The main downstairs has several dining areas surrounding a bar, and if the lights on the second floor are any indication, they must have high up outdoor summer seating. My waiter was a nice fellow, pretty on the ball, although I think I hurt his feelings when I was distracted playing Pokemon Go. The lobster grilled cheese was much more lobster than anticipated, and delicious. The mashed potatoes were hot and creamy. Then.... The churros. Definitely not for one person, this is a dish to share! They're covered in melting whipped cream and chocolate sauce, and the cinnamon flavor blends right in. Absolutely recommended! The women's restroom is a bit of a trip - the stall doors open into the entrance, occasionally blocking people trying to come in. But it also has a fireplace, which is neat. Makes you wonder what the building once was.

    French toast and carnitas tacos

Another weekend, another place to try. We have gone past this location a few times and it was time for us to try them out. Servers were friendly and food came out quickly. Location is very spacious and there's lots to look at. However the food was so-so. The foods were cooked well, and they were pretty. The problem is due to the perperation. There was no salt used, and there was a noticeable lack of spices used. The wings were juicy, but there was no spice. The French toast was oddly savory due to the lack of sweetness. It needed syrup to be palatable. The tacos had a nice crisp, but it was not seasoned so you got pork but nothing else. The tacos really needed a sauce to help carry things along, or a stronger pickle. The churros were greasy and a bit dry. and weirdly enough the chocolate mole was cocoa powder with no sugar added. Lead to a powdery chocolate taste. Everything here was fresh and prepared in house. You can tell from the down still on the wings and the sauces they make. However they are not using spices to help liven their dishes up. So they are approaching food correctly, but not making it very tasty. I suspect the issue is due to the location being primarily a bar. I've had better food at bars before, so compared to those locations this one is lacking. It's got the right elements to be good though, so I'm hoping my experience is the exception to the norm. Those who got drinks seemed happy, so if you want drinks this may be your place. For food, it's functional

    Pulled pork sandwich

Very impressed with this restaurant! Upon pulling up, it looked very fancy and I was a little nervous that we should have made reservations, but it was huge inside. There was an enormous bar as well as seating downstairs and upstairs. There was also a deck upstairs that looked perfect for outdoor dining in the summer. When we sat down we were given water and a basket of bread. The bread looked freshly baked and came with some type of butter I've never seen before. It had peppers in it and was a savory type of butter - odd sounding but it was delicious! A nice touch to the meal. I ordered the lavender lemonade for my drink. It was reasonably priced, very tasty, and pretty strong - I was impressed. We ordered wings for an appetizer which were delicious - I noticed that the bleu cheese was slightly different than any bleu cheese I'm used to which made me think it was homemade. We also asked for a side of ranch which was equally as high quality, I am always impressed when a restaurant takes the time to make their condiments in house. For our entrees I ordered the Caesar salad and my guest ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The salad was good, it looked like the croutons were homemade and the chicken was very flavorful. The pulled pork sandwich looked delicious and was served with a huge side of sweet potato fries as well as another side of choice. Overall, the prices were reasonable given the quality of the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. Normally I would have taken one star off for the service. It wasn't bad, but our server just wasn't super attentive. However, we were his only table upstairs so I won't hold that against him! I'm sure it was a pain going up and down the stairs to check on us since we weren't visible from downstairs. I will most definitely be returning to this restaurant when I am in the area! I noticed there is a restaurant called 'Robertos Log Cabin' in Lebanon which is closer to my home - I think is owned by the same person. Definitely makes me want to try it out!

That industrial look this place has a nice feel. They have a close family like crew here. I came in on the late night and they even let me sit down eat and relax I will be back for sure

    Kids chicken. Thumbs up.

Stumbled upon this place after realizing it's the same Roberto of Roberto's Log Cabin in Lebanon. All things considered, they are pretty comparable and I recommend both. Some of the menu items are exactly the same, but they don't come across as a chain. Both have their own style and decor. Food is good. Service is good. .... One adult and two kids. We all enjoyed the experience. Didn't get anything crazy - just a burger, Mac and Cheese, and grilled chicken. Simple but effective.

The food wasn't tasty. The filet mignon was tough. Slow service, barely warm food and my drink was terrible.

I'm not sure if it was a shift change or just timing, but even though the restaurant wasn't very busy, it felt like we were left a bit on the side for a while. Nothing major, just something noticeable. Also, while the food is creative and well made, some items felt a bit pricey for the portion size (for example, a meatball serving), so value may depend on what you order. That said, it definitely wouldn't stop me from coming back. Good food, good beer selection, and overall a solid spot.

I would bring everyone there. When they opened the new location in Windsor , it was still great. It was a birthday outing type of thing. I went again last week, which was likely my final time. For the past few years, I've been giving it a pass... growing pains, maybe? But the food is not what it was. The succulent, juicy brisket that I used to dream of has been dry and cold for the last year or so (probably 3 or 4 visits). The burnt ends, which used to be as addictive, are now no longer made from brisket...but what seems to be cubed chuck...again, dry. Texas sausage and pulled pork are still ok, as are the sides. On top of that, they are always short staffed, and the staff that they do have is not helpful...not friendly.. Just a big NOT anymore. I haven't been to the Hartford or New Haven locations recently, but as far as Windsor is concerned, it will not be going back anytime soon. I don't mind paying the premium prices for quality food and service, but you are no longer premium. Please figure this out. My favorite place no longer exists.. and I really want it to return to the quality of the past.

I sat at the counter and was greeted immediately. Their menu is loaded with all the typical, popular breakfast eats. I opted for their corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. Starting with coffee. The coffee was typical, very good. My eggs I ordered scrambled with cheese and they were made perfectly! I'm a stickler for not having eggs overcooked, I don't want to see, nor taste any brown on them and these came out just right. Their breakfast potatoes are some of the BEST I've had at a place like this. There wasn't as many onion as I would have preferred, but the flavor and texture was perfect! So Very Good!! And finally, the corned beef hash - They use the typical canned style, which I knew and I asked for it to be well-done with jalapeño. The chef did a perfect job with this part of my breakfast!! Wow - So Good!!! Overall - definitely a very nice breakfast here... I'd most definitely return!!

The decor is all 50's from the chairs, walls, food, etc. Here's their story: "September 11th 2001 changed my life forever. After 19 years as a flight attendant, I decided it was time for a change. Thanks to my dearest mentor and friend, my dreams have come true. Actually, this all dates back to the year of 1952. My friend had a wish, too! Naif Makol, Jr. loved to eat his burgers when he was only knee high to a grasshopper, at which time, he asked his daddy if he would buy him a hamburger store. "Bah" astonishingly honored his son's request, and the family was in Burger Business. We dedicate the vision behind our concept to an exceptional man, Naif George Makol, Sr., without whose foresight and extraordinary business sense this could have not been possible. Our country was a great place to live in back in the 1950's American families enjoyed simple pleasures like drive-in movies, cruise nights, and car hops. Much has changed today except the memories of a time gone by. Naif Jr. has never let those joyous memories fade so in saying that here we are today. Naif and I wanted to create a place representative of a time when families gathered together listening to Dion or little Richard on the radio or cruising into their favorite soda shop for burgers or dogs. Skooter's took on a life of its own once we collaborated about the open kitchen concept and sit-down counter service. We've created a warm, family atmosphere which we hope you will enjoy. Our goal as proprietors is to provide you quick in-and-out service in an upbeat, happy environment at an affordable price. We want to be your home away from home. With Jonathan Karas as a key part of our family and the central force of our operations, I'm sure you will enjoy what he has to bring to the table (pun intended). We hope you delight in the simplicity and of course the great tasting yummy food." For my drink, I'm having a black coffee. It's my first caffeinated drink in a long time (no decaf available). I'd have a milkshake, but they're extremely heavy. Ah! REAL coffee! For my soup, it's Sausage, Pepper and Onion. Rice too I see. It's very good! An unusual soup, I'm also trying the chili. This is good! I got the last of it! Peppers is an odd ingredient. I can't leave here without trying a hot dog (Frankfurter) with sauerkraut. This is good! I liked the buttered bun. No shortage of sauerkraut. For my entree, I'm having a Grilled Lemon Chicken sandwich. This is really good! Notice the square lettuce leaves. For dessert, I'm having a slice of blueberry pie. This is a HUGE piece of pie! It's nice and chilled. I haven't had this in decades! It's delicious! What a great meal here! Those onion rings are freshly battered and are huge! One of them was 4 inches across! Oh yeah! This is great!
