This was a horrible experience The waitress Jaelin h should be fired First off she messed up our order brought us the wrong food even after a I specifically asked about the dish then blamed it on me She forgot to bring a bunch of our side dishes and I had to remind her 3 times. Mind you the place was not busy. Then she spilled caramel sauce all over the table and i repeatedly had to ask her to clean it up. My son in law caught het making nasty faces behind my back. Haven't been here in a couple of years. Have not missed a thing. My wife and I went to breakfast there this morning. If you are looking for lots of salt and grease then you have found your spot. The hash brown casserole was so salty and greasy that it was almost inedible. You can't get plain hash browns here anymore. The coffee was basically brown colored water. All in all it was not good. Ambiance is still pleasant. Service was good. Cracker Barrel used to be my "go to" place to eat. Unfortunately recently I have been less than pleased. Broccoli was mushy & piece of catfish was about the size of a deck of cards. The Steak ' n eggs Hash brown Casserole - eggs overdone, hash browns not grilled long enough, cheddar cheese was stringy, steak tips were bland. The biscuits tasted pre-made/frozen: they did not taste or look like previous. Corn muffins were small & overcooked. Neither the biscuits or muffins seemed to have any leavening. Recently placed an online order here for curbside breakfast. When I arrived at the restaurant, I notified the restaurant and 20 minutes later I called to inquire about the status of my food. The woman placed me on hold to check on my food and then hung up on me. I decided to go inside to get my order and I tapped who I believe was the manager and asked about my order. He goes to where they placed carry out orders and said this just came up. The mound of butter had completely melted and the food was room temperature. The manager kept insisting it had just come out. Lies lies and more lies. I had waited outside for 20 minutes before calling them ultimately going inside. I wanted fresh food because I still had to drive home. When I get home, one order of the pancakes were half cooked or cooked just enough to softly set. The other order of pancakes had pieces of what looked like starwberry and a piece of chocolate in the pancake, probably from a dirty griddle. This place is typical food precooked and always mildly warm to the touch. I get that's it's a chain but a little pride in your service would be great. The food I got here today was less than average. I ordered a side of dumplings and they were one big piece and not cooked in the middle. Completely uncooked dough. The table behind me was seated 8 to a table and there was no room for me because the waitstaff allowed the table to add 3 seats to an area that didn't have enough room for the family to put their baby bag on which caused no room for my table. My first time going to a Cracker Barrel was this past weekend and I thought it wasn't a bad experience. For one, you can feel and taste the corporate-theme-ness. Because, you know it's really not an old country store and it's just imitating one. When there are so many locations, it also takes away from the charm. They sell lots of modern items and everything just seems kinda fake. It is what it is though and we were here to get some country breakfast! The food was good, but nothing worthwhile. It's probably better than a Waffle House, but the fact that I'm comparing it to a WaHo is telling. I wanted some country fried steak, so I went with: Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast (Two farm fresh egg with grits and your choice of Fried Apples or Hashbrown Casserole plus Chicken Fried Chicken or Country Fried Steak. Comes with All the Fixin's: Sawmill Gravy, homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, real butter and the best Preserves n' Jam) It could've been better and the spot was not really hit. So, honestly, Cracker Barrels are just decent to me. I'm not in a rush to go back to one and don't get excited when I see one from the freeway. I wouldn't wait more than a few minutes to get a table. My rule of thumb is to always try a local restaurant so don't settle for corporate chains when there are true mom and pop shops probably nearby! read more

I have been to many Cracker Barrel locations but this is the first one I have found alcohol on the menu. We arrived for lunch and ended up enjoying some strawberry and orange mimosas. I ordered the new coastal seafood dinner this evening which contained one small piece of fish and another piece of fish that was even smaller! The meal comes with 5 shrimp and 2 sides. I ordered fries and coleslaw. I never received the coleslaw. I asked for the manager. She came over and I explained that the piece of fish was only a bite! She said "sorry", the chef puts 2 pieces of fish on the plate and if the piece was small, then that's what I get! The manager asked if I wanted something else! Really!! They ignored us and wouldn't seat us, so we left. Not sure if they were deliberately ignoring us because of the colored hair and tattoos or because they just didn't want to serve us while they were still open but it was later in the evening. Edit to add: we also made eye contact and said hello to 3 employees while we were there and stood by the stand for 10 minutes without anyone coming up to say anything about the kitchen being closed and left of our own accord. We walked in and were seated immediately (even though we had at least 8 people in our group). Our servers were super nice and made sure we knew what we were ordering. Mid-grade tasty, greasy food for a decent price , what you'd expect from a national chain. I wouldn't make a huge point to come here for the food. However, you'd be sorely mistaken to skip out on the experience of having Carol as your waitress!! She provided us with the utmost professionalism and cheeriness we could have ever asked for. We even got moved to a bigger table once she realized a bunch of hungry dirtbag kids in their twenties ordered WAY too much food. One member of our party was celebrating her birthday and Carol made her feel so special by bringing out a slice of chocolate fudge cake for her. Especially after that disappointing presidential debate that we endured this week, my group is in agreement that that the United States of America would be much better off if Carol could be the president. Overall It was alright, I guess the commercial hyped it up a little mainly because I was expecting my taste buds to be blown. But the country fried steak was the best I've ever had when I orders the Grandpas Breakfast. It came with eggs and hashbrown casserole, which was an interesting taste of potatoes, butter and eggs. It came with all the fixings which was grits and biscuits and gravy. It was my first time tasting grits, it was interesting, kinda like cream of wheat. Because I'm asian, I prefer rice over potatoes, rice over biscuits, but in this part of the country, it'll do. And I'm in the south now. The gravy and biscuits was good. The country fried steak was good, I've had it before but that was in Hawaii lol. This one was more fried and crispy and more steaky and the gravy has a little more flavor. Would I come back? Sure. It was my first time here so I was super excited since I've heard the hype. First thing you should know is this place has a store in front that sells all kinds of seasonal items and speciality things like cast iron, candles, beach wraps, random things, etc. Then the restaurant portion is behind the store. Came here for breakfast on a camping weekend. Their menu selection is quite big - lots of breakfast items but I did not see any benedicts on there. All sorts of combinations of eggs, pancakes, biscuits ("All The Fixin's"), breakfast meats you can imagine. I really enjoyed their honey ham, all the fixins biscuits, and hashbrown casserole. I did not care for their sausage or lunch items. The breakfast was definitely a hit but this is not a place I would come here for lunch or dinner. Service was friendly and fast. They were very attentive. I really liked the atmosphere of the place - with all sorts of cool things to look at on the walls and everything. It was a cool place to visit! read more

Zzzzzzz. 53 minutes from the time we ordered our food, until it arrived! Let me start by saying, we ordered our four dinners and some fried pickles, because who doesn't love FRIED PICKLES!! The pickles came out very fast; then we waited, and waited and waited. One kid almost chewed his arm off waiting on some chicken tenders and the other is missing a few finger while waiting on his cheeseburger. While we sat there pondering if it was the meatloaf, the chicken fried chicken, the tenders, or the burger that broke the kitchen staff, we thought it odd that we had not seen our waitress in a while. My husband started telling me that we could have purchased a BBQ grill from Walmart next door, some food, and made our own dinner out in the parking lot faster. The manager finally came out after 45 minutes and apologized for our dinner not being out yet. At 53 minutes, he personally delivered our dinner to the table. All our food was good. Nothing was deleted off our bill and the manager did not drop back by to see if everything was ok. Just disappointed is Cracker Barrel. read more

First of all i'd like to start out by saying that the service was booty. When we sat down it took about 20 minutes just for the server to even notice our table. As she took down the drinks she kept saying "huh" and it took 20 minutes just for her to come back with them. We had to ask about getting any type of appetizer instead of her mentioning it like she should've. She took our orders while jotting down our appetizers and they all came out at the SAME TIME! So unbelievable and extremely unprofessional. Let's not even talk about the time it took for the food to come out. It took 30+ minutes just for 2 people's food to come out. By the time all the food was out the table was CLUTTERED with dishes and no where to put anything. Let's start with the fried pickles. They were greasy and she didn't even give us ranch. She gave us "pickled ranch" claiming that she didn't have any in the back. The mac and cheese was cold and the sausage was not cooked all the way. Salmonella much? Everything was so disorganized that I had to get the manager involved. Once something was said to the server, she magically came back with normal ranch and hot mac and cheese. Although she did have one star on her apron she could've been A LOT better. Not to mention the sweet iced tea wasn't sweet or iced. The only good thing about this experience was the ambiance of the restaurant. I like the country feel and that's about it. In the end we got stuff for free because of the disgraceful way we were treated. I felt invisible and like i didn't matter at all. They need to consider how good the food is before jacking up the prices on stuff that isn't even worth it. McDonald's has better stuff to say than this place. I do not recommend it your looking for a good country home style meal. Safe to say they'll never see me back again and I regret putting my money into their business. If you go, expect to be disappointed and dissatisfied. If you want to improve these horrible qualities, get new servers, cooks, hostesses and a better menu all in all. Never coming back. read more

Cracker Barrell can be a nice meal for dinner; I love the pot roast, my wife and son love Chicken and Dumplings. We don't eat here that often and almost never for breakfast. This review is for breakfast food at this establishment. I give CB the standard high marks for courtesy and good service. The food, however, was lackluster at best. We had some .. I dunno eggs and steak thing. We both ordered medium well, the steak came back tough as an old shoe. Eggs were okay from my perspective. The grits were watery. The substance called 'gravy' was a glutenous pale fluid, with lumps of some kind in it-- tasting more smoky than what I was expecting, which was a sausage gravy or something. I'm not sure what was in this but it definitely didn't remind me of gravy. Biscuits were good, coffee just okay. I realize this isn't haute cuisine but the menu is pretty standard for this kind of establishment and it's comfort food. This isn't the kind of dish you put a slapdash effort into. I have been ordering from Cracker Barrel for sometime. The last two weeks that I've ordered it has been absolutely horrible the pot roast... I don't know what they've done to it but it taste like leather and it's in edible. The only thing that was edible was the mashed potatoes barely , The corn was fair. This is absolutely terrible I don't know what you guys did as far as changing management but you have screwed up. I would order at least two times a week because of my night shift schedule and I am not going to order anymore. I was meeting my brother and nephew for my brother's 75th birthday. They were driving from Pennsylvania, and I was coming from North Carolina and this was about midway for the both of us. My nephew and I ordered the meat loaf with two sides which I noticed was the lunch special for $5.99, and my brother ordered the Country Ham regular order. The meals came, all generous portions and we enjoyed getting together and catching up as we hadn't been together since Christmas. When I got the bill we were charged the full price for the meat loaf ($9.99). I asked the cashier why we didn't get the lunch rate and was told the regular portions were bigger. The server did not ask which size we wanted and since it was right at noontime I didn't think we needed to make it clear that we were ordering the lunch special. I didn't see much difference in portion sizes - the mashed potatoes and vegetables on the plate looked like any other serving, and slice of meatloaf might have been a bit bigger but since I don't go to Cracker Barrel very often I couldn't tell any difference as I just wouldn't know. So the meal cost an extra $10 ($4 times two plus tax and tip.) I sent a note to Cracker Barrel Corporate and they sent me back a boilerplate apology and gift certificate for a free dessert the next time I go - as if that's going to happen. So a word to the wise - if you are getting the lunch special make sure you tell the server that's what you are ordering - and save $4 for the same amount of food you'd get anyway. read more

CONS: * Out of meatloaf at 7pm on a Friday. I'm not sure how that happens. * Sampler portions were the smallest I'd ever seen. * Flavorless turnip greens, which is hard to accomplish. * Inadequate sun shades on the windows; the setting sun caused me temporary blindness (only half-kidding). Overall, it's a Cracker Barrel, so about what you'd expect. It's a great location off of I-66, so it was a quick stop on our journey south for the weekend. Fast stop, but slow food. We are here for a homesteaders conference this weekend being held at the fairgrounds. We stopped into this particular restaurant and met up with another family, so there were 6 of us. We had the person at the front podium sit us at the round table and our server was Daniel KUDOS to this young man - he was awesome !
