We got to the restaurant early. No one could be seated because "Our cooks are behind." There were many open tables. Waitresses standing around. We weren't seated for over 25 minutes. No one else was seated either. They were waiting for the cooks to catch up. We waited for a VERY LONG time. Our waitress actually brought us a ton of bread and said, "I'm sorry. I don't know how long it will be." We should have left. We are still waiting after 1 1/2 hours. For what we spent we could have gone to a better and faster restaurant with better waitresses and service. It has been declining for some time. A friend came out as we were waiting out front and said, "Good luck getting your food." Indeed this was so. I only do this because my elderly mother with Alzheimer's wanted to come here. We live in the area. It used to be good to come here. I probably will not be back. I don't recommend it to others either anymore. We came in to give you one last try. I ordered 4 veggies and the mashed potatoes had a black hard thing in it so I didn't eat and I tried green beans but they were sitting in burnt oil and not vegetable oil, something harsh like burnt olive oil. I ate my Mac n cheese and okra but it wasn't enough food and I went home hungry. My husband can eat about anything but he spit out the green beans. It seems everytime we're there I end up with a subpar meal. Your staff asked if everything was hot and I said hot yes, inedible as well but it was 8:30p.m. and I didn't want to wait for the manager. I also noticed you aren't filling the cups for biscuits and corn bread thus it doesn't rise properly and even that we fed to our dogs. I suppose you haven't really learned from COVID and maybe your restaurant should go the way of Ruby Tuesday and Wendy's bc it's obvious you aren't trying to keep loyal local customers and that's why your attendance on the weekends isn't what TX Roadhouse is. My wife and I went to this location, and it was good, but not great. My wife got the two Meats and two sides, and the Cole Slaw was soured and smelled very bad, and she had to return it, but the waitress never offered to replace it with another side. Stopped by on a long road trip for breakfast. Waitress was ok, but she kind of acted frustrated with having such a big table. (There were 10 of us). Kept asking for lemons and didn't get them until after everyone was done eating. Bathrooms are super gross. Food was alright. read more

My family and I went yesterday and had really great service and our waitress was so sweet!! The food was delicious!! I always get the fish fry and hashbrown casserole every time we go and I never get disappointed. I recommend also trying the country fried pickles, they were outstanding!! Service, ok not good. Food terrible! Called before going up there, was told have soup (husband has had dental work & cannot eat but very sod food) order. When food brought out waitress very rudely states " well we r out off soup, what u want". Explained nothing as we were told had soup, that was why came there! She argues, "well no one would have told u that". At that point asked for manager. Oh, & we had no utensils to even eat with or napkins. I had beef tips with salad & baked potato- tips burned, potato cold. Second potato cold, tips tuff cooked closer to my liking. Husband ate mashed potatoes & Mac & cheese. Terrible to go service!! Tried to call in because I was driving, whatever answering service they use didn't have an option for my order. So she Switched me to store to place my order, sat on hold for 15+ min! Hung up and called back and asked to speak to a manager,I was left on hold for another 6-7 minutes. Hung up, called back and explained what was going on to the lady that answered, she was very apologetic and finally got me a manager. He just gave me excuses and said he'd get to the bottom of it. We were in need of some grub while driving down the highway and noticed the big sign for Cracker Barrel. I thought it would be a safe option to get something satisfying without a huge amount of time invested. I went in to see what the wait time was, and to my surprise there was no wait. This should have been a red flag to me. It's not too often that I dine at Cracker Barrel and don't have to wait. We were immediately seated and greeted fairly quickly by our server. The only reason I wanted to dine here is for the grilled catfish. Everyone in my party of 3 wanted the same thing. To our disappointment we were told that it was sold out!! WHY and HOW? Since we had already committed to dining here we had to find something else to eat. I landed on selecting the trout with squash casserole and green beans. 10 minutes after placing the order I was advised that the squash casserole was no longer available. I ended up getting Cole slaw. The reason for my 2 star rating- several items were sold out, food was not hot when served, we were only given rolls and not corn bread.. We were traveling through the area and did our nightly stop. Being hungry we saw the Cracker Barrel was close by. We ordered take out of country fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. Food is good but the services lacks. Had breakfast at the Gadsden location the last Saturday in August 2022. The wait was long due to our order being accidentally given to the wrong table. We were told that the other party never touched the food but it was returned to the kitchen and redone. I don't believe this for a second. I believe my order was taken out of my sight, re-plated and return to me. Of course, this gave me great reserve and the fact that the server "E" was very nonchalant about the situation frustrated me a lot. The overall experience was okay but I wanted to make a point in this review hopefully for training purposes. read more

The one thing about Cracker Barrel restaurants is the fact that they tend to be pretty consistent. When you first walk through the doors you are in what they consider to be the 'General Store'. Here is where you can kill some time shopping for some unique gifts while you await your seats in the restaurant to be ready. Plenty of unique items, with many things offered at a great sale price. They also have a pretty good selection of team apparel to look through. If you have a sweet tooth this place is a must! All sorts of candy and soda, spanning the decades, for a walk down memory lane. The restaurant here was just like all the other locations. Plenty of seating, all at tables (no booths). Menu items are plentiful, and breakfast is available all day. Serving sizes are large and you won't be leaving any Cracker Barrel hungry. Today I went for the two meat biscuit sandwiches and loaded hash browns. The biscuits were exactly what I expected and really good. The loaded hash browns, not so much so (see pics). Just a blob of greasy cheese on top of the hash browns and a couple pieces of bacon. Also, considering how busy they were, really wasn't very impressed with our service. One of the other waitresses was more helpful than our own and made sure we were doing ok with drink refills when she saw us sitting there empty. Store rating: 4 out of 5 Food Rating: 3 out of 5 Service Rating: 2.5 out of 5 I would come back here again, hopefully they were kind of just having an off day in the kitchen/service areas. read more

If you are thinking about going to Cracker Barrel in Gadsden Al. Please be aware that they are out of all of your favorite meets. No chicken, no hamburger steaks, no hamburgers, no turkey. My sister's steak was even gross. My carrots, corn, and loaded potatoes were all cold. It was so nasty that I told the manager he could have it back. Just a fair warning, people. Worst experience ever. I don't know if I will ever be able to eat at another one. When we first got there, our waitress took our drink order. Then, asked if we were ready to place an order. We told her no, that we needed more time to look over the menu. Not once did she care to tell us what they didn't have on the menu. So we were ready to order. She proceeds to take our order. I said I would like the grilled chicken tenderloin plate. She said ohh we are out of chicken." But we do have chicken fingers. So then we needed more time be cause that's about the only thing we order from there. So she comes back and takes our order again, and I told her well I will have the chicken finger plate."" It takes some time for them to bring the food to the table. So out comes the food, I ordered chicken fingers with corn, carrots, and loaded potatoes. You would think to put the runny vegetables in a separate bowl. But no, they put it on my plate and put my loaded potatoes, which is not runny in the bowl, and put the runny vegetables on my plate where it soaked my chicken fingers. So then management came out, and I asked him why were y'all out of chicken he then proceeded to tell me they were out of chicken fingers, and they had to get the grilled chicken out and let it defrost and then they had to cook it that way. 1. If you had grilled chicken, why could I not have grilled chicken. 2. The chicken wasn't even hot when they brought the food out, and 3 the manager told us we would take it off the bill. Our bill was over 70.00, so I highly doubt they took it off. At this point, I can't even eat my food, and I'm ready to go. I don't even care about the money. But if you don't have the proper food that you are supposed to be selling then you don't need to open your doors, or put a sign up letting people know you don't have those items. I sat outside cracker barrel, telling other guest that if they were looking for chicken, they weren't going to get any in there because they were out. Some guests went on in. But then they came right back out, saying that not only was they out of chicken but that they were out of everything. Hamburger steaks, hamburgers, turkey, and gravy. Temperature outside was 61degrees when we came in. fans were on high speed with air conditioning running. our food was cold before we could even finish eating. I wanted to shop also.... but just too uncomfortable to stay around. Not very pleasant at all .... and no one there seemed to care. Told both the waitress and cashier when we left. I've never left a bad review before so I'll start with the positives. The waitress was great and the food was very good. But the bathroom had paper towels running over onto the floor on both sides and was not clean. Husband said men's restroom was the same. And the girl at the checkout was complaining to a Mgr that she was angry that she was having to stay late, making customers stand in front of her and not even acknowledging them. She finally stopped and waited on us. I could only think I'd never seen a CB so dirty or with such a rude employee. Most CB are clean with great employees but this one needs help. read more

Service is absolutely terrible. We had a table of five and were told they were a 15 minute wait. We waited for 30 min while they sat tables of 4,3, and even 5. We told them we could pull up a chair if needed. She just looked at us while we stood waiting for be seated as she sat many other tables. Absolutely terrible service. Each year after Halloween festivities, my family and I eat at Cracker Barrel per tradition (since 2011!) This visit was probably one of the best I've had in a long time. We were a party of six and were quickly seated at two joined tables by the front window. Our waiter was pleasant and served us with a good attitude. To start our meal, we were served our beverages, while I had a cup of ice to pour a glass bottle of Grape Nehi in. I should also note that most Cracker Barrel locations have a lovely selection of craft sodas on a shelf in the front of the store! As someone who is soda-obsessed, I felt like a kid in a candy store selecting my drink. I also mentioned to my waiter that this location should sell the Cracker Barrel sweet tea in the mason jars (like at another location I ate at in 2016). He took my suggestion while also telling me this location was a test store for certain items, which was neat to know. I also want to say that I really like it when you can talk to your waiter about suggesting new items for the store, or other types of improvements, and they actually listen to you and converse with a positive tone. Our waiter did just that. Continuing with my meal, I ordered a plate of hickory smoked ham, plus a piece of sugar cured ham, with green beans, fried okra, and mashed potatoes with a side of brown gravy. The wait time was average, and our food was brought to us within about 20 minutes. The brown gravy I ordered wasn't initially on my plate, but it was brought to me very soon after I let my waiter know. My goodness, was my food excellent on this night. The ham was packed with juiciness, tenderness, and excellent flavor. My okra was a pleasure with every bite, my mashed potatoes blended nicely with the brown gravy, and the green beans would make other beans green with envy... every single thing I ordered in my meal was pitch perfect and I commend whoever was the chef on Halloween night. On the topic of the atmosphere and overall feel of the restaurant, it presented a cozy feeling after the bitter coldness outside at the time of our visit. There's lots of memorabilia and antiques from the years of old throughout the dining area, and it all maintains a nostalgic aura that makes you feel like you're back in the good old days. In the store that you initially walk into, there's all kinds of various decorations, toys, knick-knacks, candles, craft sodas, candy, music, and much more to consider as a gift or something nice for you. Usually, I like to look around the craft soda section (as I previously mentioned), and this time, I bought four different glass bottles of soda to take home. They were neatly placed inside a reusable fabric bag donning the Cracker Barrel logo. In closing, I can't recall when the last time my meal at Cracker Barrel was this good, and our service had zero problems. To be honest, I used to not care for Cracker Barrel too much, but this visit makes me want to come back very soon. I told my waiter I was giving this place 5 stars, and now I will wave the red wand 5 times! read more

Seriously, this place needs better management. My food, which I waited 25 minutes to receive, was cold (eggs and pancakes). I don't mind waiting but I expect the food to be at least warm. Called to speak with the restaurant manager and had to call three times and be on hold for 14+ minutes (total) to finally talk with David. David had a host of excuses but took no genuine responsibility for the poor service. I now see why the chain is struggling. read more

I have never written a bad review or rated any restaurant so poorly. Went on a Monday morning - not the weekend. It wasn't terribly crowded. The coffee and juice came fairly quickly. BUT the Orange juice was watery with ice crystals. Service was slow. Server spent over 10 minutes chatting with the table next to us. Meanwhile, there was a table of 8 also waiting for breakfast. Seems they had an issue with some of the orders which only delayed our order. 20 minutes later. When it finally came. The eggs were good. The biscuits were good. The sausage was burned and dry. Customer Service Failure: Ordered "Cracker Barrel" in Attalla. Drove there to pick it up. Left a tip. Came home and they left off an order. One of the other orders was messed up. They offered to let me drive back 45 minutes round trip to pick it up. No thank you. After I asked for a refund, the manager said I can get a discount next time I come. But I have to come when that person works, and I guess if that person is not working I'll just have to wait til the next time I want to eat. And if they mess up that order I can wait til the next time to get that small discount . Just give people refunds when you mess up their order. It is simple . read more
