We were passing through Gadsden on Friday afternoon just about our dinner time (6:00PM EST) and searched Yelp for a place to eat. We came across this nice restaurant and decided to give it a try. We arrived just before the restaurant opened and had to wait, but it was well worth it. My wife ordered the All American Burger and fries. It was not your typical everyday plain ground meat burger, but an herb infused delight full of flavor and the fries were excellent as well. I ordered a cup of gumbo along with the shrimp and grits, and I thought I was dining down in New Orleans. It was some of the best gumbo I have eaten outside of Louisiana. We will definitely have to come back again sometime when we are passing through, or may just have to make a special trip over here. read more

Theoretically, a sweet, fluffy waffle shouldn't complement salty, crispy, golden-fried chicken, yet nothing screams comfort food quite like a plate stacked with both, drizzled with a hefty helping of warm maple syrup. Hilarious, they still have their Christmas lights hanging up in May. They were very busy and understaffed. Our overworked server was run ragged. The staff was definitely not allowed to be their best because of the understaffing. This can affect their tips. read more

We were in town for a family thing, and we wanted somewhere to meet for lunch. We always try to go to a local restaurant if we can. It was pouring, so I dropped people off at the door and just made a mad dash. Neat, inviting inside, and we sat near the back of the dining room. A very pricey place for dinner that doesn't live up to its prices. I ordered the ribeye, it was a chuck eye steak, commonly referred to as the poor man's ribeye, so it was dry and chewy. Although cooked as ordered it was cold and unseasoned. Vegetables were broccolini, they were also cold and woody lying underneath the steak not on the side. My husband and I visited for the first time, and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, and the drinks were enjoyable, though I do wish there was a wider selection. I usually order a Grey Goose martini, but they were out of Grey Goose and Chambord when I tried to get a French martini. That said, the amazing food and lovely ambiance more than made up for it. Being originally from South Florida, I really appreciated how this spot had a vibe reminiscent of the places I'd frequent back home. Umm. So I wish I could say I had a great experience here. However, that would simply be a lie, and Joanie is nothing but truthful... One thing great is the waitstaff. I have been here twice in the past few weeks when passing through town and both servers were on top of everything. However... the wait for the food is just absolutely absurd for the quality. On both occasions this simple meal turned into almost a two hour experience, and there is just simply no place in the world I am willing to wait over 30 minutes for a Caesar salad. Even the other food at the table was considerably "mid" as my nephew called it. It's just not anything outstanding, but unfortunately a lot better than the neighboring restaurants from what I hear. I will say the inside is very chic and dark which some people like. However, my eyesight is terrible and the little lights at each table can only go so far. Drive an hour to check out a truck. Decided to see what was around for places to eat. My son went to the good ol'Google and saw this place down the road. A cute little place in a neat little area of town. It was a steady night but got seated within 20 minutes. The host and the waitress were very nice and the waitress did a good job. Informative on the specials and kept the drinks filled. My son got the Gouda Mac n cheese which was really good-ah haha. He said his burger with the pepper jelly was messy but that's usually how we describe delicious things. If it's messy or sloppy...it's good. The shrimp in my shrimp n grits were a nice size and seasoned well. The sauce was perfect for dipping that toasted bread. I would have liked the sauce to have just a little bit of heat to it. Very much enjoyed my lunch at the Rail House, and would highly recommend it to any craving a good burger or just a good lunch in general and passing through Gadsden. Tried both their chicken sandwich and bacon burger and can't compliment them enough, especially the latter. Cooked to perfection, with a great compliment of toppings, and to top it all off their unique fry 'slices', for lack of a better term, we're also delicious and added to a fantastic visit.
