The food was honestly gross, it wasn't hot, wasn't seasoned, and is NOT worth the wait or money. The service was ok- the waitress we had was a sweetheart but the manager wasn't even aware of what was going on in his restaurant. The restaurant and the store part seemed very cluttered and all over the place. Katie our waitress is a Sweetheart! She is so kind cheerful and friendly and always has a smile on her face. The best waitresses handle it when things go wrong. When her cook let her know there would be a 25-minute delay on our Broccoli Casserole Katie came out and told us and allowed her to change her order. We enjoyed our vegetable platters and vegetable soups and biscuits . My husband and I stopped at the Gainesville Cracker Barrel yesterday. Was told it would take about 15 minutes to get a table which wasn't a problem. We were seated in about 20 minutes. We ordered ice tea for him hot tea for me. The tea came to the table in about five minutes. No waters or offer of water. We proceeded to order our food when the tea was delivered. While waiting for our food, 4 tables were placed around us, which made us wonder why the initial 20 minute wait because the place really was not that packed. 30 minutes later all the tables around us that came after us had been served their food. Our waiter passed by and refilled my husband's tea and said your food should be coming up soon. 15 more minutes past, no food. The people that had come in after us had eaten their food and three of them were already gone. Five minutes later my husband and I decided to get up and leave. We stopped at the register to pay for our teas but didn't have a ticket. While we were attempting to pay, the waitress came to the register saying that our food had just been placed on the table. The floor manager was at the register and witnessed this as we did not have a ticket to pay for the two teas. The waitress came back a few minutes later with the ticket and handed it to me to hand to the cashier, turned around and walked away.. The floor manager insisted on us speaking with the food manager. The food manager, I think his name was Jose or something like that, came out and said "I'm sorry, next time you come ask for me." And that is all he said. My husband gave this a 5...mainly because our server, Kevin, was OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD ! I wanted pancakes on a Sunday morning which is practically a sin in Gainesville because your options are usually to spend $5.00 on a pancake or wait in like for 500 minutes at IHOP. I called early and was beyond surprised that they didn't do call ahead reservations. She instructed me to go online Which annoyed me because I wasn't trying to drive AND type my zip code in their website, have them find my store, search through their website, sign up for their things, and give them my name, bloodtype, and left index finger to reserve a spot... I was pleasantly surprised that it took hardly no time at all to put my name in online. It was the dashboard of the site and they just wanted my name and number in my party. It was the Sunday after a home game so I think it was even busier than their average church group busy. It was busy..but also PACKED I couldn't even move around in their large store. If you want to sit down and wait, ask the hostess and she/he will find a seat for you. We waited about 20minutes and were seated. Since it was busy, apparently it was a free-for-all on which waitstaff was getting which table. You will not believe this but we were asked by FIVE different waiters in 9 minutes if we'd been helped. Our real waiter was excellent. Very kind, very helpful, very knowledgeable. I'm probably the only one in the world who didn't know this but they bring you free unlimited biscuits and jam...yahhh I didn't know that until our waiter told me. Our good came out fresh. The pancakes were crisp and not fluffy, it's just how they make them. My husband enjoyed his eggs. The bacon was soggy- I'd ask for them slightly crispy in order to get them normal. Although they were BUUUUSY we got our food in a reasonable time. I asked for chocolate milk because: breakfast and was brought out two small cartons of milk that I'm pretty sure I could have gotten for free at buchholz high school and charged me OVER $2 for it. Irrational. When we went to pay there was a line IN THE DINING AREA. Of course I was annoyed because I hate waiting but it moved very quickly. They had every register open and an employee calling for the next in line and directing ppl to registers. Ordered takeout meatloaf family meal deal from here on a Fri night. Very affordable option that feeds (way more than) 4 people. The food was delicious! The meatloaf had great texture and was flavorful. They had just enough sauce and you could add more if needed (you can't take sauce off if it's too much so that's preferred). The sides of southern style turnip greens were absolutely flavorful and amazing, seasoned with meat. Tastes almost like home cookin.' The dumplings are to die for. Again, great texture and perfect ratio of dough to gravy. The biscuits were just as good as all the rest, and the packaging was perfect (survived a 45 min traffic ride on Archer Rd). Today I visited the Cracker Barrel in celebration point to order takeout. When I placed my order, the website said no wait, which fit my busy night. Half an hour after my order was placed, someone came out to let us know takeout was slammed but they knew I was there. No problem, takeout can get busy in a hurry so I continued to wait. Then other cars parked in the curbside spots and got their food while I continued to wait. Over an hour after I placed my order, it was finally brought to our car. Having somewhere to be, I left once I got the food. When I got to where I was going, I pulled the food out, and I was disappointed. No plastic ware, no napkins, no syrup for pancakes, and no cornbread for my order of chicken and dumplings. What's even worse, my eggs and sausage came in a large oval container with no dividers, however my pancakes came in a container with dividers and were actually cut in half to fit (see the picture attached). You can also see that they didn't even line up the dividers from the lid to the bottom, so my pancakes are cut in half and squished by the container. Overall I had to wait over an hour for a disappointing meal. This is just sloppy. read more

We signed up online for the wait list and waited thirty minutes, in our car. We had the text saying we were #20 in line and to wait. We went up to the stand after thirty minutes to be told (extremely rudely) that we weren't on the waitlist. We showed the text, showed the sign up time...everything. The host was incredibly rude, dismissed us and then turned us away? It was the most bizarre experience in terms of customer service and not even checking to see if we did something wrong on our end. I would recommend a different host that is capable of explaining if we did something wrong, if the system was messed up or if there was an issue on the location's end. read more

I've always been a fan of Cracker Barrel for their breakfast items but I've been to locations where the service and cleanliness are not always the best. However, this dining experience was great! My daughters and I ate at this location because we were staying next door, at the Holiday Inn Express and you can't beat the convenience of just walking next door. We were seated right away because it was a little later than the normal dinner time hours. All three of us ordered the combination breakfast that included pancakes, eggs, and bacon/sausage. The pancakes were excellent - lightly crispy on the edges. I also asked for a biscuit with apple jelly. A fave of mine! The service was good. The table could have been wiped down a little better, but it didn't bother me too much. We didn't look around the store nor used their bathroom, so I can't comment on that, but in general, we had a pleasant dining experience at this Cracker Barrel location and will eat here again if the opportunity presents itself. read more

It's usually a disappointment that I made it there before 10:45, because that means the dumplings aren't ready yet...bummer. But, if I DO have to eat breakfast I'm happy, especially with the hash brown potato casserole! Mmmmm! The sides are just like my Ma-Ma used to cook-especially the greens and the green beans. Normally, I'm a fan of heavy family-sized meals. However, the last time I went to Cracker Barrel the chicken was absolutely raw inside, the chicken was literally cold in the middle. I guess I don't have much luck and should stop eating chicken out at restaurants. We notified the waiter and the manager immediately came over, apologized, and took that meal off of our check. The saving grace to this whole ordeal, was that the manager admitted fault and told us he would make sure to tell the kitchen staff to be more careful. Every now and then I stop by the CB Country Store to browse around for good deals, sales, and check out the new items on display, and even less frequently than that I pick up breakfast to go. Well, CB's 50th Anniversary Southern Fried Chicken layout was alluring. I called in an order of the fried chicken, and I arrived to pick it up 30 minutes later. I paid for the order then I waited another 15 minutes before the manager told me that another Kim picked up my order and they were starting over with my order. The manager was gracious about it and offered me a drink while I waited for the second order. I declined the drink. The cashier and I were talking fun "girl-talk" so I really didn't mind waiting another 20 minutes. The 50th Anniversary Southern Fried Chicken meal was delicious. It came with a half a chicken (one leg, one thigh, one wing and one breast), two sides and cornbread or a roll for $10.79 plus tax. I love the Cracker Barrel restaurant near me. I get takeout now since Covid -19 community spread is High again in my county. If I use the app, instead of calling in the order, it allows me to park in the designated takeout spaces and I don't have to walk inside to get the food, big plus! The food, of course is always perfect southern cuisine, stick to your ribs meals with nice portions and yes, you can get healthy southern food if you're in the mood for that. But if you want comfort food on a rainy day, they've got that too, with a smile! The last time I got chicken and dumplings with some extra vegetable sides, cornbread and a biscuit. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant even amidst a brunch-time rush. The servers were extremely busy but remained efficient and calm. Went to Cracker Barrel for dinner on a night out with friends (august 25th) , and we were all super excited to go, because who doesn't love a good country style meal?? I ordered the chicken tenders with Mac and cheese off the kids meal (broke college student here) and since it came with a drink I ordered a root beer. The mac and cheese was really good, but the tenders were chewy and rough. My friend also ordered the tenders and said the same thing about his. But they were decent enough to eat and I was pretty hungry so I didn't mind too much- just a little disappointed. When it came time to get the check I saw I had an up-charge for my root beer so I went up to the registers and explained to the cashier that I was unaware the drink was extra, and that I would have ordered a different drink if I had known. She called a manager, and I must have waited like 5 minutes for someone to come and assist me, but I understand people are busy so it's fine. When the manager came she seemed annoyed and tried to just get me to go and pay the full bill. I also heard her whispering to the cashier about me which is sooooo unprofessional. Yet I insisted that I did not know I had to pay more for the bill. I'm a young girl so I know she didn't feel "threatened" by me and I know that if I was a middle aged woman she would have just took the drink off my check. So I visited this location before and had a great experience! However-came here tonight for dinner and nothing went right. Hash brown casserole was so gummy on the inside and so hard and tough on top it literally cut the roof of my mouth. They have clearly changed bacon as now it's just flavorless crunch. But I asked to send back the HB casserole-they took the whole plate. A manager came back to return my new dinner, and the casserole was exactly the same! I'm just thinking, if a customer returned it the first time for being hard as a rock on top and gummy on the inside, I damn sure would make sure the new plate was perfect. But No! I ended up just having two pancakes for dinner. My boyfriend ordered a hamburger with a broccoli side. When the girl delivered the food she asked "is there anything else I can get you?"-he says "yes, better for my broccoli." It never came and when the Manager brought out my replacement food we asked for new broccoli that was hot. This location specifically serves a really mean country fried steak and is probably among the better ones some other places can offer. For $10 or so you can have unlimited biscuits with gravy and a full meal that is more than enough to fill a normal person craving that southern franchise food. If you're looking for a good breakfast option, Cracker Barrel is a great option especially since it's a franchise and has hundreds of locations throughout the U.S. The hash brown casserole has got to be one of their better dishes which jumps out at me. I come once in awhile when I truly want their dishes and that is why I believe they deserve 4 stars. They do the dishes well and the service is fairly quick. GIRLS LUNCH at CRACKER BARREL both Saturday and Sunday with Grace and Nancy (July 27 - 28, 2019). LUNCH both days with my friends was delicious. Both days I had the COUNTRY FRIED STEAK and it was so good. Saturday I had the COUNTRY FRIED STEAK with coleslaw, corn and carrots plus them amazing CRACKER BARREL BISCUITS! Sunday I had the COUNTRY FRIED STEAK with coleslaw, macaroni and cheese and carrots plus biscuits again. Both days my COUNTRY FRIED STEAK was cooked to perfection. I always ask for the sawmill gravy on the side so I can put as much or as little as I want in every bite. MARY and her FOUR STARS was amazing both days and I am grateful for great service because it makes the food taste that much better. EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM THE KITCHEN AS WELL and food came out to the table super fast both days. UNSWEETENED TEA w/ LEMON was on point and always refilled without my having to ask for it.
