Food truck, blink and you'll miss! While the size of the bagels were nice, they were more of a bread consistency (airy) than a bagel (substance)... if that makes sense. I had the little bacon, egg and cheese which had less egg than I thought I would have (like 1/2 an egg). Usually places give two thick pieces, which is why I decided to get a smaller one. But it was far less than expected. We have a lot of bagels around Tampa, and it honestly wasn't what we thought. It is highly recommended in Gainesville, so I would try for yourself! read more

What a JOKE! How can you possibly use the term "New York Bagels"? They were more like soft rolls. We ordered bagel sandwiches (w bacon, egg & cheese) each on a different type of "bagel". The "sesame" had lots of sesame seeds, but was stale, like a day old bagel. The plain was super soft and fluffy, like a Jersey buttered roll. And now for the "everything"...like many of the photos (and mine here) you can see that the onions are burnt crisp! Ick! I specifically asked for the bagel to not be toasted since I'm not a fan of burnt stuff. And now for the price...the bagel was $2.95 PLUS now add $8.95 to make it a sandwich! I hate leaving a lower star review for this place, but unfortunately was not very satisfied with my most recent experience! I went to the Luke's Bagels location under the Standard this past week and was disappointed. I hadn't been here in a little bit, especially since Bagels & Co. just opened down the street. But I was craving a Luke's Bagels, so I got there around 8:30, when they opened ready to order. Unfortunately, no one was at the counter when I came in. Someone popped out from the back to take my order a little while's later though. Their bagel selection was extremely limited, more so than usual. They didn't have poppy seed or sesame seed bagels. This was surprising, as I thought this location was sent fresh bagels each morning, I guess not. Luckily, I was able to order a bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted Asiago, along with a toasted plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. This took roughly 15 minutes to come out, which was longer than I expected. Upon delving into my bagels, I noticed a couple things that were different from my previous visits last semester. The bagels were definitely smaller, had less cream cheese, and didn't taste as fresh. The BEC had ample amounts of American cheese and the eggs were good, but there was barely any bacon! There was MAYBE two meager pieces on the bagel, I didn't even get bacon in most of my bites. The Asiago bagel still had a decent taste, with a nice sharp Asiago. But it just wasn't very fresh tasting like they've been in the past. The texture wasn't awful, but it wasn't what it used to be. The plain bagel with cream cheese was lackluster. The plain bagel was just fine, as it too was not very fresh. The strawberry cream cheese was decent and not too sweet, which I appreciate. I also like that their cream cheeses have more of whipped texture to them. But there certainly wasn't as much cream cheese on this bagel as I've received in the past! Overall, I was not very pleased with my experience here. The bagels were not fresh at all, the sandwich was lacking bacon, and I just thought the quality appeared be lower. Maybe I came on an off day, but the bagels were not fresh and the assortment they had available was very limited. The texture of the bagels still has a softer center, with a chewy outside , but the outside was too chewy and hard. The size and portions were decreased as well. The BEC had too much cheap, American cheese, and lacked bacon. The plain bagel with cream cheese didn't have much smear on it. For being about $19 for two bagels, not worth it. This makes me sad as I used to love Luke's, but this was not a good visit. I hope next time I come here it is better! read more

Was told I had to visit this long time Gainesville establishment as there is much lore for it. We came right before closed (because we tried earlier on Monday but they are closed on Mondays) so they were out of most bagels, bacon, hash browns, and certain cream cheese flavors. However probably because we came so late, we were one of like 3 people ordering. The wait seemed a little longer than needed for 3 bagels with cream cheese but it is what it is. Was looking forward to trying one of their famous sandwiches but with the bacon being out and them not doing deli anymore (despite it still being in the menu) we kept it simple. The poppy had tons of poppyseeds without being super messy so that was a win. The bagels are large and texture could be good but maybe was a little too chewy for me. Can get pricey depending on what you order. Might try again but not sure. read more

Spouse picked up bagels so we could have breakfast in the hospital with our child. We ordered 3 bagels which was over $30, yes, $30+ for 3 bagels! My spouse asked for all three bagels to be toasted because it makes the bagel a little softer and I have a TMJ issue to contend with. When we started eating the bagels they were really cold and tough to chew compared to a bagel that has been toasted or heated up. Spouse went back by to ask the about toasting the bagels and they said they put the bagels in a toaster. Their toaster must be set on the lightest setting because ours did not seem toasted at all. So, if you want toaster bagels be sure to ask them to crank the toaster to a darker setting so they actually get toasted and soften up the bread. The flavored cream cheese is good. read more

Well... this was an experience. I thought for a minute I was in Disneyworld. Two bagels two coffees $22...Luke WTF? On top of $22 I waited 20 minutes. I guess it's a dollar a minute when you go there. The outside was filthy from what I could see the inside wasn't much better. The air conditioning condensation line, conveniently dumps out right under the window where you order and pick up so you're standing in a puddle. Workers seemed distracted and somewhat apathetic. The food taste was decent, but the bagels were burnt when I asked for toasted (see pics with black spots), so all you can taste is burnt onions on their everything bagel. The coffee was horrendously sour and under extracted. They had old Stevia packets that were seized inside the paper, and no half-and-half or milk because it was "frozen". No trash next to the coffee station which itself felt like a forgotten afterthought placed randomly on a counter with no trash nearby for stir sticks or sugar packets. Genuinely one of the worst coffees I've ever paid for. I promise McDonald's and dunkin coffee is better. I NEVER leave reviews, let alone poor reviews, on any restaurant, but this was such a disappointment. And at $30 for two bagels and three coffees, I feel like I need to say something! I don't know if they've moved locations recently and they're having trouble with the switch, but the quality of everything, atmosphere, food, coffee, and service, have got to pick up. The cream cheese that was supposed to be on the bagel ended up on the BEC and the restaurant proceeded to put cheese and mayo on the bagel INSTEAD of cream cheese. I thought placing a pickup order would speed up the process but it still took 20+ minutes for them to complete my order. My experience this time was much better! I got a chocolate chip bagel, which was a special for a few days, and it was absolutely delicious. They put a much more reasonable amount of cream cheese this time and it was perfect. I'm not sure if they've changed how they do it or if it just depends on the person. I did a call-ahead order this time which made it super easy! I just called and then waited in a short line to pick up and pay for my order, which was ready by the time I drove over! Really solid place for bagels in Gainesville! Yes the wait is long and there's not really any place to sit around. But the people working here are friendly and they give good recommendations. I got an Asiago Cheese Bagel with Plain Cream Cheese and it was delicious. The bagel had a nice cheesy crust while having great soft and chewy inside. So first timers, but not used to ordering in one building and watching food come from numerous other locations. Not the best vibe, with old moist looking sweaters in the front windows, and a very chaotic system. The line was long, the wait was horribly long and miserable. We took 10 min to order, and waited 40 min for a single bagel. And normally I would understand waiting for food, but this is a single bagel. No cooking needed, and there were only 10 people that left prior to us. Everyone around us was angry over the wait. By the time we got the single bagel, for $15 May I add, I didn't even want to eat it I was so angry. I also kept watching the employees come out, yell names, and walk up to people to pass out orders. Very inefficient when you have angry crowds outside waiting. They also didn't go in order, we watched people behind us get their hot bagels, and their lox bagel before us... The bagel alone... it was hard. Not a fluffy light bagel at all. The tomatoes were under ripe, and the Lox was slim. I did like the amount of cream cheese, and the plentiful season on top of the bagel. These bagels are out-of-this-world delicious. They're huge and one would think that would make them bland and doughy. Nope. They are just right. We ordered ahead for pickup after an appointment at Shands, so our order was ready and fresh when we arrived. The only negatives are that they seem a bit pricey, but I know you get what you pay for. Actually, we didn't get what we paid for but it was still delicious. We asked for 6 bagels in a bag (3 egg everything and 3 plain egg) and then two egg everything bagels, one toasted with butter and one toasted with cream cheese. Also, we wanted a plain egg bagel toasted with cream cheese. So, a total of 9 bagels. None of the bagels with spreads were toasted and they were all three slathered with cream cheese. Being from NY, I was excited to try this spot when I passed through GNV. Firstly, the owner should visit any bodega in NYC that makes bagel/egg sandwiches on a griddle in front of you (quickly) and take notes on efficiency, since waiting in line for 30 min for a subpar, ill-prepared sandwich is the last thing anyone should do, and if things don't improve, he won't have any customers. I ordered a breakfast sandwich (specifically, bacon, egg, and cheddar on everything toasted) and a plain bagel toasted with strawberry cream cheese. The breakfast sandwich looked sloppily thrown together, with undercooked, fatty bacon on it, American cheese, despite my request for cheddar (no one from NY makes their bagel sandwiches with American), on a now soggy bagel that wasn't toasted. The plain bagel wasn't toasted and had what tasted like plain cream cheese with pink food coloring to make it seem like strawberry cream cheese, though it seems they left strawberries out of this. Luke's New York Bagel Shop is my go-to for breakfast in Gainesville! I have tried plenty of other bagel shops in Gainesville but Luke's by far has the best ones. I got the plan bagel with American cheese, egg, and sausage, and it was perfect. I had to wait around 10 minutes because of the amount of people that were ahead of me, but it was definitely worth the wait. The eggs were cooked just right, mixing perfectly with the cheese, and the bagel itself was warm and fresh. I enjoyed how generous the portions were as this bagel kept me full all day. The menu has many different style bagels that I have never seen before, such as a rainbow, French toast, and cinnamon raisin bagel. They even had different flavored cream cheese, such as strawberry, vegetable, maple walnut, and more. Overall, I will be back and cannot wait to try a new bagel off of the menu. read more

I loveeeee bagels and i'm a cream cheese fanatic so since new york is so far away, if a bagel joint has "New York" in the name I have to try it out. I had expectations that they would deliver on providing a true new york bagel and they did not let me down. The amount of cream cheese, was disgustingly to some, but amazingly thick to me- that's what New York style bagels are known for. The texture of the bagel was chewy yet held slight crunch on the outside and the flavored bagels like "garlic"and "everything" were seasoned so perfectly. I see why there's always a line next to this tiny (in square footage but large in bagel) orange building! Definitely would recommend to anyone searching or missing a new york style bagel. P.S.
