First, I am a huge fan of Cracker Barrel. I have eaten at Cracker Barrel hundreds of times. Occasionally I have received bad service, but that is rare. Yesterday around 3 pm my wife and I visited the Hartselle Cracker Barrel where we experienced a terrible meal. The service provided by Jasmine was great; we have no issue with the service. I ordered the new 4 piece fried chicken special. The chicken was over-cooked and had no seasoning. The chicken was dark brown indicating too much time in the hot grease. The meat was tough also indicating it was over-cooked. The mashed potatoes and green beans (they were out of baked beans) were cold and bland. Finally the biscuits were hard and the bottoms of the biscuits were burnt. My wife ordered a cheeseburger well done and the meat was half pink. She could not eat the burger. Then we ordered a banana pudding and it had a spoiled taste. The low quality of food is not common at Cracker Barrel, but based on our experience we won't visit the Hartselle Cracker Barrel again. read more

Party of nine of us October 20, 2021 @ ~6:00pm. We had a waitress and a "trainer" that evening. Don't want to call her out by name but the feeling at the table was she was a drill Sargent. I wouldn't say rude but was extremely abrupt! Kind of felt sorry for the trainer because I don't think that's how you get good tips! The trainee was very nice. He kept saying I hope you enjoyed yourselves or enjoyed the meal. And I tried to order a glass of wine, waitress cards me??? I'm well over 21 and I definitely look over 21! She said she can't serve alcohol without an ID? I didn't have mine so no wine? Seriously??? The food was all delicious as usual for Cracker Barrel. And the company was fantastic! read more

We are fanatic fans of Cracker Barrel and the restaurant in Hartselle, AL is by far our favorite. We eat at this particular CB 10 or 15 times a month and this past month ( February 2023 ) we topped that! We've come to know the servers and cashiers at this store and they make us feel like family. The food has always been excellent and if it wasn't, we wouldn't hesitate on asking for a manager to have it corrected. The managers at this store are also fantastic and go out of their way to insure that we have a pleasant and enjoyable meal. If you are a resident of Hartselle or one of the surrounding towns or a traveler on I-65, don't hesitate to stop and eat at this particular Cracker Barrel. read more

Well I have been to very many Cracker Barrel's in my time and this is another one. These are usually great spots for bathrooms as they typically have among the cleanest and most spacious bathrooms you will find in your travels. I will sometimes stop in to get a Baked Apple Dumpling dessert for a snack with an iced tea or coffee to keep my batteries charged up and going on long road trips (sadly they don't offer that dessert certain times of the year for goofy reasons and then I just leave very grumpy). This location was probably a bit nicer, cleaner and better kept up than the average store I have seen and the folks working there were even above average nice. read more

Great food and great service. The old country store never disappoints. I've came here several times before, but since I newly discovered the yelp app I had to leave a review. One thing is as you enter the wait is not long as they immediately waited us. The waitress also was magnificent as she immediately asked for what we wanted to drink and in a timely interval asked us what we will have for the night. The wait for our meal was timely as well. Since it's not fast food, you should expect a bit of a wait. The food was delicious and always has been delicious from their dinner menu and breakfast menu. If there's one thing you can say about all Cracker Barrel restaurants, it's the consistency. The food is good. No foo-foo stuff, just plain old cooking. The only down side is it's always noisy. You'd think the walls between sections would dim the sound a bit, but it doesn't seem to. At this particular location, there is always a waiting line, so be prepared to rock a bit. read more

I believe this location opened up in 2010 and is a major improvement for this area and small town. It is conveniently located right off Interstate-65 and has a lot of open space for future growth around it. The store itself is ran just like any other Cracker Barrel with breakfast food served all day and a general store located inside. The staff is nice and the store is well kept. Average. That's it. Food wasn't great, though. While traveling on business, I instantly felt at home walking in to the Cracker Barrel. That didn't last long, however. I have eaten at Cracker Barrels literally all across the country. This was the worst I've ever experienced. I was greeted at the seating area by a pleasant enough kid, but no smiles, no "How are you today, sir". I was seated in the typical Cracker Barrel dining room. It was clean. My server, Abby, greeted me politely and took my drink order. I ordered the open faced roast beef sandwich with fries and a side of hashbrown casserole. My food came incredibly quick. But that's where the good experience ended. The roast beef was soppy and oily feeling. It was VERY bland, and the sourdough bread was barely toasted. I had to pour a bunch of salt on it to give it some flavor, and then it just tasted like salty, bland beef. To add insult to injury, my server served me the steamed apples rather than my hash brown casserole. When I mentioned that, she went back and came right out with a plate of cold has browns that had burned bits of potato all throughout it. Very disappointing. To summarize, my food was cold and bland, my order was not accurate, and my drink was empty WAY too long. I urge you to take your money elsewhere...even McDonalds would be better than this Cracker Barrel. read more

This cracker barrel is a blessing! I was on a road trip back home when my mom and I stopped for a bite to eat here. The food was amazing and our server was so nice! Being tired from the long trip, I left my purse hanging on the chair that I was sitting in. About two hours down the road after leaving, I realize that my purse is missing. We had to be back home so we certainly couldn't turn around and lose all of that time. We called the cracker barrel to confirm that they found it and asked if there's anything they can do to get it to me. Out of the kindness in their hearts, they said that they would ship it to me. Stopped here on Tuesday night after a basketball game with a large group of 14. It was not crowded and we were seated within 5 minutes. We all ordered a various mix of dinner and breakfast dishes and the service and food was served timely and warm. Everyone enjoyed their meal and left full. I ordered the double meat breakfast with eggs over easy, bacon and sausage to minimize the carbs and I was pleasantly stuffed at the end of the meal (could not resist their wonderful biscuits). This location is just off I-65 Exit 328 and is convenient for travelers and locals. The restaurant is also clean, pleasantly lit and fully stocked for shoppers. Highly recommend! read more

Cheap/ filling and satisfying! I like there chicken and splints. Not to peppery for those who don't want to handle pepper but a good flavor. I also enjoy there meatloaf! The cornbread is not sweet as I like it but it is understood why it is. Still have not tries the coca cola cake that's suppose to be delicious because we are too full from the meal. It is what it is folks. It's not gourmet, it's home cooking. We eat here on an average of once a week. The staff is always friendly, the dining area and restrooms are always clean and the food is always satisfying. In reference to the staff, you get what you give.
