We have been to Libby's a few times and have always enjoyed the catfish so when we went to Point Mallard Park we decided to eat there on our way home. We pulled in the parking lot at 710 pm. Got out of the car and the little older lady (who has always been rude each time we go) was sitting outside smoking. I told my son, "watch this one, she's always grouchy!" And laughed. As we approached the door she said "If your going to eat you better hurry, we close in 10 minutes." I was kinda shocked because it was 7pm on a Saturday night and there were like five cars pulling in behind us. She was telling everyone they were closing in 10 minutes. My husband said, "Ok, sorry. I guess we will just go somewhere else." She says, " you can come in but we close in 10 minutes." He told her we didn't want to be rushed and she didn't say anything. Another lady stepped outside and was telling everyone to come on in. But her attitude had already ruined it for us. Idk if she is "Libby" but each time we go she has been rude. All the other staff has been great and the food was always good. We left upset and very disappointed because we were excited to eat there tonight. As we were walking back to the car I told my son.." So to start with, roaches crawling on wall beside my table! It took 14 minutes after seating myself and getting a menu by the cashier when coming in, before I was waited on. I was brought water; waiter left....I had to stop another waiter after 10 more minutes and ask for my waiter to come back and take my order. When I got my food the baked potato was old and reheated. I was given "buttery spread" ( which is terrible for your health). I asked for real butter and they had none. So I asked for the charge for that potatoes to be removed from my bill. Response: we can't do that,it's part of the dinner. On the side menu they charge 3.95 for it. After mentioning the roach I smashed on the wall and that I would be reviewing this restaurant on yelp....the manager at checkout said to reduce my bill to 9.95 from 12.95. ( math please???) Manager never made eye contact with me ,spoke to me, or in any way apologized. I will NOT be back and will definitely share this information!!!!! read more

Husband and I were in Huntsville, AL and Libby's was recommend it to us. Servicer's were so nice. The sweet tea was so tasty. Not too overly sweet, but just right to me. Everyone got a piece of cake. Not sure why but it was good. Now for the food. I normally don't like farm raised catfish. but this catfish was so delicious I didn't even realize it was farm raised. The fried green tomatoes didn't have any kind of sauce with it but they were so good I didn't need it. My husband liked everything on his plate. The shrimp was flavored just right the green beans were flavored just right. The flavor of the okra was good but I wish they were a little warmer or hot. WARNING: Ordering boiled shrimp means it will come out COLD and in a bowl of ice water. Lovely old lady owner argues with me that it's supposed to come that way. Country motif with mismatched tables and chairs. Ordered three piece catfish fillets. After a short wait it was delivered. Wow! Huge fillets, huge hushpuppies, huge fries. Served with lots of lemon and onion. The flavor is excellent. Fried perfectly. Slaw is sweet awesomeness reminiscent of KFC. Homemade tarter sauce is tangy and served on the table. We were on our way to Tennessee and this place caught our eye. We were very disappointed. I had salmon patties (got one large patty that was very dry), mashed potatoes that were obviously instant, and black eyed peas that were too hot to eat, I assume because they had just come from the microwave. My husband's chicken and dumplings had no chicken in them and his fried green tomatoes were soggy and black. All in all, an unhappy experience and one that we will not repeat. read more

We have tried this place three different times and not one time have we gotten very good food as you can see in the photo the corn is so nasty and gray Instant mashed potatoes that were gummy in the country fried steak was slimy from old oil it being cooked in The hush puppies were so greasy I put two on a paper towel so greasy baked potatoes were old and sticky I would not recommend eating there we were there at 4:30 and this was the plate dinner special they serve me not fresh it all I sent it back and just had crackers and my husband had the fish platter he just ate the fish and that was it the potato was not edible read more

Libby was so nice and personal. She brought use hot fresh hush puppies they were so yummy. I had the regular burger I love grilled buns!! The burger was good flavor!! Onion rings and fries both good! A must find, off the beaten path. I had the chance to try out this establishment while working a horse sale near by. I ordered somewhat of a sampler to get a taste of the local flavor. My dish included a fried catfish filet, fried shrimp, fried oysters with a side of fried okra and cole slaw. Recipe for a heart attack. All dishes were excellent! Food was simply awesome! If your looking for upscale dining, this is not your establishment. The high backed booths with holes in the seats some might find distasteful. I found it an awesome part of the character of the while experience. The only reason for the downgrade in rating was due to an irritating waitress. She wasn't serving me but was standing near the customers griping about the performance of a coworker and walking around eating. First let me say that this is my first time here. I have been to their sister restaurant Little Libbys several times. I will not come back to this particular one. I can't enjoy my food for the overwhelming smell of an ashtray. They have a room to the side as soon as you walk into the dining room where they allow smoking. Disgusting. I went to Libby's for lunch on 8-6-2021 a friday. It was busy and nobody told us to take a seat as others we're looking too So we went and sat down,a lady came right by and took our drink order. We waited for 15 minutes till a waitress came by to get our order. Never did get our drinks till after our food was delivered to the table and the waitress asked where our drinks we're ? W e got our drinks and nobody bothered to ask us about drink refills even as people all around us had theirs refilled. The food was hot and good. We ate but no drink refills and no dessert even though it s suppose to come with lunch. I watched as 7 people come in and tirned around and left because there was no sign and nobody told them to have a seat at an empty table. ONe party was 6 people so 13 people you lost an order on. The waitresses are run to death, they can't keep up ,you need at least 3 more. I'm a long time customer and if this happens again I'm not coming back and I''m going to tell my friends what happened. There is NO excuse for this The cashier asked me about my meal and i told her but no we're sorry . I'm giving it 2-stars because it's a community staple, not for quality of food, service or atmosphere. Food is consistently mediocre, served lukewarm and service is slow and often inattentive. Not the best food I have had. It was very mediocre. I got the chicken and dumplings with okra & green beans. The dumplings were okay, okra was over cooked & hard; green beans were great, cornbread was hard like it had been there all day. The tables & chairs were very mismatched. I HIGHLY doubt they'll ever change that though because this is a local type joint with loyal customers who'll keep coming back no matter how tacky the decor/furniture is. We had one waitress take our order then another give us our food because the other was busy talking to someone. The 2nd waitress we had took over the rest of our stay; wasn't all that great. We absolutely love this place but are somewhat disappointed from our last two visits. Week before last we took family there- it was their first time and the service was awful. After almost 15 minutes of waiting just for someone to acknowledge us - no menus or drinks- I had to get up and ask someone at the front counter if we could be waited on. Then it took well over 30 minutes to get our food. I apologized to my family about this because we had bragged so much about eating here. BUT we went back the next Friday night-as me and my husband usually do and were treated in the exact same manner. People that came in after us received service and their food way before we did. My husband asked me if we were invisible or what? When our food arrived his hamburger steak was well overcooked and the food was at best just OK. I hate this because I have Always bragged about all of the food here.. Really don't know if we are going to try again. read more

We used to call in orders to this restaurant until we went in. It's very dirty. They are very friendly but seem to cater to the regulars. The prices have gone up so the convenience/cost reason we would order is no longer there. They do have good hush puppies but that's the only thing I miss.
