I met a friend here for breakfast this morning. It was a weekday and they weren't very busy. We received very attentive customer service. Our waitress regularly came to check on us and refill our drinks, answer our questions etc. We were both very happy with what we ordered: biscuits and gravy, country ham, scrambled eggs, fresh sliced tomatoes, fried apples, pancakes, grits, hash brown casserole, eggs over easy - so many great breakfast choices. Lisa was absolutely wonderful. My mom loves Cracker Barrel, and she's had a stroke that makes speaking difficult. Lisa was incredibly patient and genuinely kind. She didn't just serve us -- she treated my mom like a person, not a problem. By the end of our meal, she was even joking with her. My mom ordered black coffee and sugar-free syrup, and later asked for grape jelly. Without being asked, Lisa brought both regular and sugar-free jelly, saying she thought my mom might appreciate having the sugar-free option. That small, thoughtful gesture meant so much to us. Cracker Barrel in Herculaneum has been a roller coaster of food quality. Sometimes we go and the good is fantastic. Other times, it leaves a lot to be desired....but tonight was by far the worst food experience we've had there. We ordered the Cod dinner, and when it came out, it was obviously not Cod, and there's no way you.coumd convince me otherwise. On top of that, the mystery fish that we received was very small and mostly breading. We questioned the server, and after a brief conversation she agreed to bring out a replacement and we opted to switch it to the catfish. She came back to our table to let us know it would only be five minutes. 15 minutes later we finally got the meal. Everyone else at the table was long finished with their food. To make it even worse, the hush puppies were black, burnt little rocks. We immediately asked for a to go container as we were ready to leave at this point. Upon paying for our meal, we alerted the cashier to the sub par food experience. Her only response was, "Sorry", and that was it. Turns out there were TWO "things" about the size of my pinky nail in his coffee. Spoke with the manager who agreed it was gross. She offered to take the cost of the coffee off of our $40+ bill. My family went on a Friday night around 6pm and was sat immediately. They had a incredible fire going which was nice due to a cold night. All of our food came out hot and correctly. The buttermilk chicken was cooked perfectly! The dumplings were excellent. The server was busy but kept up with refills! Overall a great experience for a busy night. read more

No matter the time or day the service never fails to disappoint. This time was no different with the exception of a hair hanging off my plate and the waitress insisting it was egg! Oh but the best part was the new egg was not a new egg but simply the old one flipped over. Nevermind the fact the hair was stuck to the meat. Yes I would love to eat meat that has had someone else's hair stuck to it. Oh and wondered why I couldn't eat and stood here insisting it was a new egg. I have photos showing otherwise. Cracker Barrel is a lovely place to shop, I enjoyed the Christmas themed decorations and the coziness of the store. There were so many trinkets and doo-dads, my mind could hardly take it. That being said the atmosphere is terrific and the attitude of the associates and staff was on point. They were generous with their time and very helpful. I ended up spending a lot more than I intended on spending but I was very happy with my purchases. I've gotten myself prepared for winter weather and also a new style and look. There are definitely some hidden gems in this store, I'm glad I stopped by. Everything was very neat and tidy, the music was nice. This is a great place to shop overall and to dine. Went to CB for Thanksgiving dinner and the food was awful!! No gravy, no cranberry sauce, no sweet potato casserole. The dressing taste like it came out right of the box, very dry and crumbly. Very small portion of turkey. My daughter and grandson ordered chicken and dumplings and they ate it in three bites! I told the waiter to bring out another bowl of dumplings. It was pitiful what the portions were. The poor waiter was very accommodating, felt sorry for him. He did bring out another bowl dumplings at n/c. We will not go back for a holiday meal at Cracker Barrel!!!!! read more

Family style restaurant, nice waitress and friendly. Chicken and Dumplings were very good, okra was overcooked. Fried Catfish and hush puppies were over cooked and raw inside. The mash potatoes were dried out and slightly hard, mac & cheese was very good. The biscuits were fresh and hot and were also very good. The waitress ask if I would care to order another meal or remove the price off the bill. This moved them from a 2 star to 3 stars. read more

I'm not quite sure how many times we've been to this Cracker Barrel location (we've lost count) but this one definitely seems a cut above the rest. Solid wait staff that are cordial and everything you'd hope for. The food is always as you would expect or better, and the cleanliness is great. Our waitress this visit was Amy. She was a master of her craft and managed several tables with ease and a smile. It's always great when the service staff truly enjoy their work. Its a genuine authenticity that just elevates the experience to an entirely different level. The breakfast this morning was delicious and the coffee was piping hot -- which we were particularly appreciative considering having an exhausting weekend so far. The eggs were made exactly as we ordered them, the bacon was crisp with a nice smoked flavor. My wife's pancakes were fluffy with that unique slight griddle crisped edge that were perfect. I would like to thank Amy, restaurant manager. We went to CB to pick up some food for some other folks, and decided to try for us as well. We have some very severe food allergies, " Alpha-Gal", so restaurant choices are very important and sometimes very difficult. Amy listened to our requirements and talked through some options that would work for us. Then she met with the kitchen, to make sure everything was adheared too. I've been to this location before. I was looking for some comfort food and it's on the way home. I had the meatloaf, Kale and Brussels sprout salad a mash potatoes with gravy. My wife had fish. We came in tired after a long day at the hospital. Not quite our best experience there. My food was fine but it arrived in about 30 minutes which was a little late. I'm sure it was just an off night. Back to the point, as I sat down she asked me what I wanted to drink, I said, "I would like Dr. Pepper." My husband and I stopped at CrackerBarrel today for lunch. We were both disappointed in our meal. He had the hamburger chopped steak and I had the maple bacon chicken. His meat was dry and tough and my chicken was difficult to cut and I wasn't able to chew it.l left half of it untouched. The green beans were terrible. The only thing good in my meal was the steamed broccoli. He said the best part of his meal was the slaw. It disappoints me when I can't get good food to eat. Cracker Barrel u can do better. I've been a customer at CB for thirty years. When I travel it is a go to safe bet for a decent meal, or it used to be. Don't go there nearly as often these days. Went for a meal in the afternoon recently and decided breakfast for lunch sounded good. I mean it's pretty hard to mess up an egg and pancakes right? Well, they did. I ordered mommas pancakes. Three cakes, bacon, and two eggs. I ordered bacon VERY crisp. I don't like any fat on it. Eggs medium well. I don't like 'em runny. Well, I got uncross bacon and COLD runny eggs. The pancakes were " crispy" though! Waitress took eggs and bacon back to nuke 'em, I guess, started to eat cakes while lukewarm , they wouldn't melt my butter. Asked to speak to manager and she was sorry. I told her I was too. Looking back on the downhill slide of CB was when they stopped serving warm maple syrup. They serve a maple/corn syrup blend now days. Not pure maple , and it's supposed to be warm, I thought, but never is anymore , and I've been to CB nationwide. It is not an isolated case. I live near my home CB in Herculaneum, MO and I will go back back, but not nearly so often. Please CB step up your food . I want to come back. read more

Usually My favorite place to eat and we usually always get great service. The last time we went about a week ago our waitress was really busy and only made it to our table 1 time and my husband and my carrots were cold and so was my dumplings but my chicken was to hot to touch to eat for 10 mins. Came here at a later time (maybe like 8-9pm) on an off-day, and our group was like a table of 14. Service was great, fast on the orders and drinks, but the most surprising thing was that they were able to serve all our food within prolly 10 minutes... , a table of 14, with totally different things, like steak, breakfast food, sandwiches etc. Anyway I'm skeptical that the microwave was used a lot, but oh well, nevertheless a lot of the food was good, some of the food was meh and not too tasty. When I was a kid, Cracker Barrel was the only place my parents liked to go as much as they liked Ponderosa. It was way better than Ponderosa because rather than being scolded for eating my food too fast and getting bored, I got to explore the store until everyone's food arrived. Now I'm an adult and I'm not so easily impressed with Cracker Barrel. Reason #1: I'm a vegetarian and used to enjoy their hash browns until my inquiring brought the news that there is chicken stock in them. What? There is no need for that. Reason #2: They (or the one waitress) were (was) unable to customize my order. I wanted the oatmeal with fruit, but I dislike golden raisins. I asked for those on the side, or all the fruit on the side so I could do the mixing myself. I was brought a bowl full of oatmeal and golden raisins with fruit on the side. Even after I picked the golden raisins out, the oatmeal was nothing to write home about. Lunch is almost as difficult for my vegetarian ways. However, I still like the Old Country Store end of things as well as the game boards at the tables. If I'm forced to go, I'll eat enough before so I can just have the applesauce, which is delicious. read more
