I typically stay away from chain restaurants. We were traveling to Colorado and needed a place for breakfast. I assumed breakfast is one meal that should be good at any restaurant. I was mistaken. Everything was so over salty, it was hard to distinguish the actual taste of the food. My ham was inedible. The hash browns, gravy and eggs had a metallic taste. Finally, the biscuits were so dry we only ate one out of the four between us. The saving grace was our server. She did a wonderful job. As always, the store was the only highlight. read more

Wow havent been to cracker barrel in years (non where we live) and apparently i missed a lot because this so sucked!! Was so excited when i saw this traveling through Kansas. What a HUGE disappointment! Everything was bad. Ordered the Old timers with sausage, i am not sure what their sausage is made from but it had a strange reddish color and had the texture of jerky! Aweful! The biscuits were over cooked and hard, like they were a day old... i was there at 10am and couldnt get a fresh biscuit. Hashbrowns were so greasy that they literaly were oozing grease or butter not sure. Country gravy had no taste what so ever. They did cook my eggs right so that is the only plus i can give them. read more

We have always had amazing service at the Junction City (KS) location. They are super friendly, professional and personable. The food is always good, has great flavor and there is always too much to eat. This particular store has really been struggling lately. The food is still pretty good quality and prices have gone up a bit (thanks inflation), but with the decent food quality you can overlook the price increases--that's if you can get your food at all. My last visit, we waited over 45 minutes to get our food, while others who came in much later than us, received theirs first. Our section had one server and a bunch of people in it, the other section had two tables so they were able to get better overall service. Maybe that's a host issue? I don't know, but we waited way too long for our drinks, food, and dining utensils, and the biscuits don't ever come out early anymore. The kitchen has taken so long the last two times I've been that I've had to talk to the manager. Today, my family and I waited for over an hour and we ended up leaving (we paid for the drinks) because our food still wasn't ready and there was no estimate as to when it would be ready. We gave them an hour which I felt was generous. Honestly, upon being seated it would have been helpful if we were advised it was going to take forever to receive our food, and we could have decided to go elsewhere and saved everyone the headache. From what I can tell, the servers are overloaded and perhaps understaffed. I haven't seen the kitchen, but it's ineffective and I assume deals with the same issues. I don't blame the worker bees, but management. My family and I probably won't be back to this particular location, as the pain of the experience isn't outweighing the joy anymore, and that makes me sad, because I generally enjoy Cracker Barrel as a brand. read more

As a recovering waitress and business owner, we mentioned these details to the manager so she could address but just shrugged it off that they were short staffed if that's the case then why seat patrons until you can properly serve them? They have removed all the pies and cobblers from the menu....you can have a piece of chocolate sheet cake, other wise they only offer two other desserts, a sticky roll or cinnamon roll (I consider those breakfast foods). 1/5 Disappointing Thanksgiving Dinner Experience We purchased Cracker Barrel's Catering Heat and Serve Thanksgiving meal for five or less people, expecting a convenient and delicious feast. The few sides (green beans, sweet potatoes, stuffing) were fine, the rolls were tiny two bite flat rolls that gave off "the smell" of sweet rolls but that is as far as that went and the turkey breast was a disaster. It arrived wrapped in gold packaging, precooked. Once prepared according to directions received from store, it cut oddly like it was not precooked, smelled off, and tasted so bad that everyone spit their bites into napkins. One person swallowed it and ended up with a stomachache. We called the number a bit after noon on the receipt/instructions and no answer. Even our domesticated pets and wild animals, refused to eat it, suggesting the meat was either spoiled or improperly handled. It wasn't refused by the animals for the seasoning of which the turkey lacked. FYI, on our end, we live minutes away from said Cracker Barrel, once home it went into the refrigerator set to a temp that no other food had spoiled in. For $100+, we expected quality, not a ruined Thanksgiving meal and a poor turkey's life wasted. After reading a few other YELP! Reviews, it seems this Cracker Barrel has difficulty with achieving a certain temperature with chicken and turkey. I hope Cracker Barrel reevaluates their meal offerings to avoid disappointing others during important holidays. read more

Another sub par meal cooked by most likely a retired army cook from the 60's. Damned this one place sure does not represent the overhaul corporate image that's advertised...maybe you folks who own the place need to go back and get some training, starting with the food quality and working through an technique on hiring servers!!! I see there's an IHOP right down the road....most likely that's where I'm going to spend my hard earned money at in the future....if your business fails it's nobody's fault but your own.... If you're looking for a buss down meal that takes over an hour to get and has unbalanced flavors and serves tap water then boy do I have a place for you! Update May 2023: Well...I tried liking this location and I have honestly never given any other Cracker Barrel a score lower than full stars....but this location is on life support. Truly! It's terrible with customer service. So, I called to place a to-go order as we were traveling through. Well, it's Mother's Day so they are not taking phone to-go orders says the message when you call. You have to go on the site or app. Well, tried and the site AND app were not working right. I tried multiple times. For nearly 20 minutes and by that time we were coming up on the Junction City exit and kept driving. I tried calling and well, no one answered. We were not going to deal with the headache. If Junction City does not want business....then we vote with our wallet and go to another location. We went to Topeka who did a fantastic job! read more

My fiancé and I had lunch here today and it was the most uncomfortable and unpleasant experience we have had in a long time. We asked for a medium well steak but it came out rare and the server forgot the eggs. The server seemed like she did not want to help us or was having a bad day. My fiancé only ending up only eating one side out of three. When checking out the server said she took his steak entree off but added a kids meal with two up charges. We should've known it was going to be a terrible experience when it took 10 minutes to get our drinks when we first sat down. Then had to wait another 15 minutes to get a refill that I had to ask for. After waiting for over an hour for our food I finally talked to the manager because the waitress kept giving us one excuse after another. The manager even gave excuses but our food finally came out after an hour and 15 minutes. Both of our steaks and chicken were cold!!! The waitress only apologized for the cold food but didn't offer any remedies. Server was sweet to begin with but absolutely horrible after. He never asked us if we wanted refills, didn't check how we were doing, and forgot about the to go box we asked for. How do you do the least amount of customer service? By never giving a crap once the food is brought out. I regret leaving a tip but being a Californian I can't not leave it. It's Cracker Barrel so you know the menu. When we arrived the restaurant wasn't very busy. We only have a brief wait while they cleaned a table for our party of 5. It sort of went downhill from there. Our waitress was very nice, but difficult to track down during the meal, even though they weren't busy. Of my 3 cups of coffee, only 1 was actually hot. The other 2 were luke warm. It took roughly 40 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering. All in all, not the best experience. read more

Went on Saturday November 5th got there around 12:30. They were very busy , we were seated and it took probably 10-15 minutes for our server to come take our drink orders. We waited for at least 20 minutes for our food. I ordered Country fried steak. When I got it I thought it didn't look right but i took a bite and it was cold. The next bite when I cut into it the inside was pink so I cut into the middle and it was red meat (raw). I should have sent it back but everyone else's food was ok and I didn't want to make them wait probably another 30 or more minutes for them to cook my food. Very unhappy and left hungry. I so wish I would have said something because I shouldn't have had to pay 12 dollars for raw food. Cracker Barrel is usually very good but not this day. Rare 5 star breakfast. Shana provided stellar attention throughout the meal. Service is the key. Well she had all the keys to unlock a great meal. Pic was off the aftermath. Clean plates. Wish I had saved part of a biscuit to make a total scene wiping that plate clean. Could gush more but this is Cracker Barrel and I am used to them being this great. We arrived around 10:30 am and had a 20 minute wait to be seated not unexpected for a Saturday. Once seated our drink order was taken and brought out. When taking orders Server was not very friendly and didn't want to offer the options given on menu. We then began our wait. Drinks were refilled once but server gave no indications of kitchen running behind and nothing was offered to hold hungry kids over till food arrived. We waited over an hour for our food. Magically the food arrived within minutes of asking to speak to manager. You would have thought food would have been piping hot but was barely warm. When we were leaving the table behind us, who had ordered within 10 minutes after of us, still had not received their food. This location seems to be a crap shoot. We have been here when service and food were excellent. We have also been here when the food was running behind but had great service in that the server kept drinks refilled and communicated with us regularly regarding the food. Todays wait wouldn't have been as irritating had the server been friendly and communicated the issue, offering biscuits and following through with refills, it seemed more like she was hiding to avoid complaints. read more

Wow! I ordered blueberry pancakes & the wait staff let me they were out of blueberry syrup. I went to the gift shop & got some blueberry syrup from the retail space and brought it back to our table. I told our waitress I found some & the general manager, Ross showed up to our table. He was so rude, confrontational, and unprofessional about the bottle of syrup I couldn't believe my ears. I understand the company policy that the retail space is a separate business but I was fine with buying the syrup. But also- if a subway in Walmart is out of lettuce, they go buy lettuce to fulfill the hole in their menu. This is no different. Ross Is a bad manager with no customer service skills. This is my favorite Cracker Barrel so far. Alexis our server is so friendly and cute. Talkative, and responsive to our requests, and even customized our French toast coffee drink. She knew exactly how I liked it. The steak tips country bowl was delicious and filling. Of course the biscuits and cornbread were moist and perfectly scrumptious.
