    Southern fried chicken
    Barb P.

In spite of the current requirements to limit tables for customers , I had no wait time at about 1 pm. It did seem strange to sit isolated with so many tables marked 'unavailable' . The staff was exceptionally pleasant; obviously happy to be working again. I ordered Southern fried chicken, carrots & green beans, which were served hot AND fresh, almost before I had blinked. My waitress was especially courteous and helpful. Not a complaint from me; although there never is for eating here. The gift shop was well stocked, but too picked-over for my sizes. No problem, as I will return to Cracker Barrel, whether in Kokomo or elsewhere.

Four of us went out for breakfast, and it wasn't the best experience. My father-in-law ordered coffee, and they brought the coffee pot but did not bring his coffee cup. The waitress said she'd be right back with it. We waited about 15 mins for her to come back to the table, and she didn't bring it so we had to ask for it again. When our food came out, all of our hash browns were cold. My mother-in-law ordered scrambled eggs with her meal, and they were not fully cooked. A section of them were runny. They were nice and brought us all out new hash browns and brought her new eggs. On a positive note, they give you unlimited free bread (toast) when you buy a meal. They also have new flavored coffees with whipped cream. Overall, the food was alright, but it wouldn't be my first choice for breakfast.

My favorite traveling restaurant. Food is consistently delicious and always friendly waitstaff. The fried chicken was sooo good and my side of green beans were delicious. Only hitch, getting through the gift shop with wallet intact.

Food is good as always. Service is ok. Feel like sometimes they just get your order and shoo you out as quick as possible, but they're nice.

I counted five booths and five counter stools that stayed full during our visit. The staff (a couple) are salt-of-the-earth sweet and hustle to keep orders coming. They know the regulars by name and cajole about family. The menu offers breakfast or lunch, with tenderloins as the featured items. Prices are inexpensive. Food comes out quickly. The tenderloins are premade and frozen. They are thin and the breading is flavorful. I had the daily special, a Tenderloin Manhattan which came with green beans and mashed potatoes. This was pure comfort food. The potatoes and tenderloin were good, but the gravy was over salty for me. My husband had the tenderloin sandwich with fries. The tenderloin was ok and the fries were really hot and good. An article on the wall indicated that Artie, the original owner, passed away in an auto accident in 1954. A local business award plaque hung above our table. I'm not sure that the shop is A.D.A. compliant as there are steps at the front door and the aisle is very narrow. There may be a ramp at a rear entrance, I couldn't tell. We found free street parking on an adjacent street. I give the place high marks on character and I love the service. The food is ok.

In the world of tenderloins, these are stars. I ordered a lunch special my husband wisely ordered the tenderloin. Mine was...well look at the pictures. It was very tasty with the tenderloin you can taste that it's pork not a fried cracker. I will certainly get one next time. It's honestly the way to go.. I have a very sensitive nose and I can smell old oil at 100 feet there was no smell of oil at all. My husband had fries and they were not at all oily. Your waiter and waitress are the owners and the cook and whatever needs to be done I guess very pleasant prompt service. I'm going to post a bunch of pictures. The mashed potatoes in the picture are actual mashed potatoes not fake The green beans are probably canned possibly frozen. They were fine. My husband is the gravy connoisseur and he said the gravy was excellent. Everything you see in the pictures that I post everything including a 20% tip came to $22 and less than $.50 unbelievable .

There was a 45 minute wait, but it was definitely worth the wait. I also appreciated that we could wait in the covered patio area instead of being squeezed into the restaurant. I loved the chocolate chip pancakes--the portion size is HUGE, yet reasonably priced! The omelettes were also a big hit at my table; my dad customized his own omelette, but they also have some specialty omelettes on the menu. I definitely recommend adding a side of hash browns to your order! Frittatas really hit the spot--it was the perfect place to enjoy a family brunch.

I have to wonder if it had been sitting for a bit after it was made. When my nachos got to my table, it was actually cold. The "melted" cheese had solidified. When I had brought this to the attention of our server she did say that her manager had mentioned something about that before the nachos were served. Okay. So if a MANAGER had noticed then why serve it at all? I just don't understand... but they did rectify the situation. Once I did get my nachos the way they should've been to begin with, they were delicious. We also ordered Fried Green Tomatoes. I LOVE FRIED GREEN TOMATOES and theirs is super good. Jalapeño Corn Chowder also yummy. (The chowder was the only item served hot.) The Voodoo Pasta and the Drunken Chicken also good. I would totally stop again if needs be. The server was sweet and kind. The bathrooms were clean and there is a lot for parking.
