The food is always good.The service is always friendly and the price is relatively affordable.And I love the little store.

There are a lot of Yelp complaints about the Cracker Barrel at Bellmead. According to the voters, the quality of the food has gone dramatically down. My fried chicken dinner was completely fine. There was more fried chicken than I could possibly eat. More than I can possibly eat is always a good thing. * * * Is this A) dedicated Cracker Barrel traditionalists fuming after the attempt-to-change-the-logo fiasco? B) a local restaurant with a lousy manager who let things go to the bow-wows? C) a systemic decline in a the whole chain brought on by the same brain-out-to-lunch MBAs who had the change-the-logo idea in the first place? D) a global crisis in the supply chain based on an inability to get good biscuit flour from China? I suspect we can rule out Explanation D. But then I would have ruled out Cracker Barrel trying to change their logo as well. As for the other three explanations, I would have to eat a lot of Cracker Barrel meals at a lot of Cracker Barrel locations before I could answer that question with certainty. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience coming to this Cracker Barrel! I was traveling on my own, but not only were staff members warm and friendly, I found that even the customers here loved this restaurant and we're extremely welcoming to those that look like they were from out of town. I always love being able to get breakfast in the evening, and nobody does breakfast in the evening, better the Cracker Barrel! Such a warm, friendly atmosphere! The restaurant wasn't too crowded, but it still took quite a while for the server to come take our drink order. She wasn't very attentive overall. The food was delicious though. The chicken and dumplings gave me the comfort I was craving. Pinto beans were well seasoned, and the fried apples were fresh and cinnamonly delicious. Breakfast delivery. Scrambled eggs were okay, not particularly full of taste. Biscuits, two of them were good. Ham was delicious, but nay be a bit salty for some folks. Sausage flavorful and not greasy. Bacon was not crispy and lacked flavor. Gravy tasty. Paid extra for fruit and thought it was $1.00 too high for the serving size. Otherwise, decent price. There are better breakfast choices in town in my opinion, including George's and Olive Branch. read more

First 2 cups of coffee were lukewarm. Eggs and toast were fine. However we were almost 50 minutes waiting for our breakfast orders. The restaurant was not busy at all. We saw people order, eat and leave before we ever got our orders. There were 5 of us. Should not have taken this long. read more

Like most, have been going here since I was a kid and the parents or grandparents took you out for a special meal. Now years later, I'm the parent. Will admit, this is the first trip in a bit since all the controversy. Wow, not a good experience. Service was slow to get to the table, later after taking our order she came back to apologize for the time it took to prepare the meal as they had to have a meeting. A meeting? Those biscuits that were always to die for, now i could hammer a nail with. Hard as a brick. Chicken not very flavorful, potatoes were dry and the broccoli was cold, as in couldn't melt the butter. Zero stars!!! My husband and I had a horrible experience at this location. We were ignored for at least 20 minutes before we walked out. The manager walked past us and ignored us. Plus, the manager and 3 other employees stood and talked as we waited and watched everyone around us get waited on. We usually love Cracker Barrel but this experience was not great. The one bright spot was that the waitress was friendly (although she seemed new to the job/unsure of things). We had an unusually long wait for our food and one of our 2 meals arrived cold. The food was definitely not up to usual standards. We order 2 sides and were charged for 3 (a duplicate side of green beans were delivered for some reason). Our server, Rachel could have been working for Ruth's Chris! I'm talking $200 per meal service. She was always available to refill my delicious Pomegranate-Apple tea (3 x). She promptly brought my wife's deliciously tender home style breaded chicken breast. Her mashed potatoes cooled quickly but her fresh broccoli was perfectly cooked and a beautiful dark green. . Absolutely amazing experience eating here!! The staff was incredibly friendly, and not to mention extremely helpful when deciding what I should get on the menu, and making sure to check up on us rigorously. We made sure to leave her with a fairly large tip for her helpfulness and kindness towards us. The food was fantastic, I have no complaints whatsoever about the taste, or cooking and I would for sure go back just for the meal itself. I posted a picture of my food after leaving on facebook and had many people tell me it looked delicious (to which I completely agree) The environment itself was that of a classic cracker barrel, meaning it was cozy and homely. First off it took forever for a waiter to come over, and the female waitress we had was not only disrespectful but very flirty and only paid attention to my husband order and my husband was very offended. Cracker Barrel Waco TX on Saturday, 9/5 a "hot mess". Placed my name on the new improved wait list of text message when table ready but 1 hour later no text. Groups well after my name was in the Que were seated but not my party of 3 plus high chair. Went to Mgr to find out status & what happened...immediately seated in back of restaurant. Well...after another 15 minutes of NO ONE willing to at the very least ask to bring a glass of water....WE left. Good luck to everyone else as to prompt service & maybe seeing their food order next hour. Simply ridiculous & embarrassment to a terrific restaurant in the yesterday year. Not no more. Had a great experience during an off-hour late lunch that certainly exceeded our expectations on an impromptu road trip pit stop. We had 3 kids and a baby in tow, so we probably were not the easiest or most efficient table to service. Food was hot and tasty, especially the cornbread and biscuits. Our server, Brett, was as patient as can be, and never stopped being as polite and friendly as humanly possible. He even helped us snap some group photos as it was someone's birthday. I have never been to a Cracker Barrel that didn't have good chicken and dumplings. I also Normally get a double order of turnip greens and an order of hash brown casserole. I drove past many places to get to this one on my way to Fort Worth and was looking forward to my order. What a letdown, the chicken and dumplings were bland. The hash brown casserole was dry and almost had an old taste and the turnip greens were just off. I have had Cracker Barrel in many different locations and never been let down before. I can see one thing maybe being off but not the whole meal. I really hate giving them 2 stars but that is what the meal was. The rest of the experience was as expected. read more

I want to preface by saying this has nothing to do with the food, but rather the service. My fiancé and I were on a long drive home when we stopped here for dinner before continuing our travels. Our waiter was Brett and oh my god we have never been treated so well at ANY chain restaurant we've been to. It was Michelin star treatment! Brett went completely out of his way the entire time we were there to make sure we had the best possible experience. He was so detailed and kind!
