Came to Billy Bobs thinking we were about to have a life-changing burger moment... those online pics had me believing. But y'all... we got catfished Every burger that came out was insanely salty. Like... did the ocean apply for a job in the kitchen?? The patties were dry, flat, and looked like someone stepped on them before sending them out. ZERO love went into these burgers--none. Not even a sprinkle. Now I will say, the staff was super sweet--shoutout to the girl taking a shot with a customer at the bar, she was living her best life and honestly, I respect it But as for the food... yeah, probably won't be back. Unless every other restaurant in Waco shuts down--and even then, I might just make myself a PB&J first. read more

Ngl, i wasnt too confident looking at the menu, but the place was nice, open, and airy with contemporary decor. Bathroom was clean. Now for the food and people. Theyre genuinely nice and like what they serve. They have a house sauce, Hungarian sweet paprika I suspect is the smokey sweet ingredient with maybe lemon juice or ACV with garlic and onion, in mayo. But thats just a guess and I also liked the ghost pepper sauce. Its on the light end of heat but has a signature burn unique to the Naga Jaluka. Battered fries and basic burger with simple toppings and mustard as it should be on a burger. The person I ate with had tots and grilled cheese. Tots and fries perfect, no old oil taste, and there was nothing left of the grilled cheese, so let that speak for itself. My only suggestion would be add some horse reddish, sweet relish, or dill relish with a touch of ketchup in the house sauce and make a proper house made thousand island instead of mayo for it. As someone whose made many patty melts, it just isnt the same with mayo vs thousand island. Also a dash of Worcester. Let me know how it works. I'll drop by next time Im on the way to MD Anderson. Great little spot! The inside is small, but there is a really nice outdoor area and a cute outdoor bar. I got the Green Chili Philly and it was SO good. The peppers on it were well seasoned, which many places miss. Some places are like "here are some peppers, yay, we said peppers on the sandwich and we threw them on there, great work, let's call it a day". Billy Bob's knows that every ingredient on the sandwich matters, and they season the peppers, and IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. The roll was very soft, and it was delicious, but it fell apart a bit towards the end. Hubby got the burger and it was good! The patties could be a little thicker, or maybe it's worth it to get a double. I'm a meaty gal, though, so YMMV. Fries are not included with sandwiches, and they are $3.25 for a side. I think $3.25 to add fries to a sandwich is kind of a lot. The amount of fries provided for that cost was kind of not a lot, which was a bummer, BUT they were quite good. Service was good. It had a cute little bar vibe inside. I enjoyed the cherry vodka lemonade. There may have been a parking lot, but we didn't see it. There was plenty of street parking nearby. It's close to 35 and to the zoo, if that's a landmark you use to judge the convenience of restaurant locations. read more

I should tell you going in the door, I'm a burger guy. Probably my favorite thing to eat, so I'm tough on burger joints. Only in town for the day, and the awesome reviews landed me here. Things started out rough. I walked in right about noon to a packed joint. Luckily, I was solo and sat at the bar. Unluckily, the lady behind the bar didn't seem real happy with life. She seemed increasingly frustrated with the people walking into the busy restaurant (like being busy is a bad thing!?). Additionally, because I sat right next to the register, I was front and center to the lady's strange comments to/about patrons and general argumentative attitude toward coworkers. I wouldn't want to work with that... Once I finally ordered (opted for the Texan burger) the food came out quicker than expected. The burger had the perfect ratio of bun:meat:bacon:toppings:condiments. It was just juicy enough without leaking all over the place and causing a mushy bun and general mess. And the fries were my favorite: nicely beer battered and perfectly crispy. The only drawback: price. Look, I'd place the size of this burger on the med/large scale ...but you pay for fries separately, which I tend to hate. So, by the time I left and spent almost $25, it was officially too little food for too much money. The place is obviously popular, and with all the people there today, it felt small and crowded, so try and go during off hours if it's not just you. It's probably best described as a more upscale, more expensive "dive" feel? I'm grasping at straws here... Overall: good burger, too expensive, place definitely has room to grow. The theme of this place is salt and grease. Everything is incredibly salty that it made me feel a little ill. Don't get me wrong, I will destroy a burger a tots but this wasn't it for me. I got the burger basket with tater tots and I also tried the cheesesteak. We also got pickle fries. Pickles fries: Don't even bother, it's battered salty coated in salt and fried Burger was not bad! Just really greasy. Tater tots were so salty and it tasted like they used old oil. Cheesesteak was okay, very greasy and one dimensional. Service was interesting, our waitress was nice but didn't really seem to care about what we said or did. For example she asked if we needed more time and not even a minute later she came back out again. Little things like that really made for an odd eating experience. Ate at Billy Bob's in Waco, Tx on a Thursday afternoon around 2:00pm. We were seated immediately. Greeted by our waitress very quickly. She was absolutely the best! Very friendly and attentive. Got an appetizer. The spicy pickle fries. I thought they were great! The batter on pickle fries was great. Not greasy. Just a hint of spice. I actually wish they were a little spicier. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was ..... eh. Not bad.. but not good either. Bum didn't hold up well with the tomato and buffalo sauce. It was wet and mushy. The Buffalo sauce on the fried chicken was actually really good. As was the chicken. The chili cheese tots were disaster. Way too much chili and cheese. Made the tots soggy. Came here for a quick bite before a Volleyball tournament at the Convention Center. Wait staff was super friendly and the food is beyond delicious. I got the Billy Philly fries and added green chiles, SO GOOD. I want to come back tonight for dinner. Family felt the same about the burgers, tots and onion rings. So good, a must try. read more

Burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, mixed drinks etc calling your name... pop in here. Food was good, there are plenty of different options like sandwiches and burgers and melts but still a simple menu that's nog over whelming. Service was quick and friendly as soon as we walked in through the door we were greeted and seated. Everyone in the group was more than satisfied with the taste of things, servings and drinks. This was my first time visiting this restaurant! It was alright, but the vibe was nice. Chili Burger: The chili had a lot of flavor and the overall burger was not bad. My only complaint is that the burger and chili were lukewarm. I feel like if I waited that long for my food, it should come out hot.. Fries: The fries were decent, there was both crunchy and soggy pieces. I think the fries had good flavor but again it came out lukewarm. Ambiance: It is a really small place but there was a good amount of seating. There was seating indoor (booths, table/chairs, bar) and outdoors (table/chairs). There was a medium noise level and most of the sound came from the TVS outside playing sports games. Went here for dinner on our overnight girls trip. I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary & it was spicy! This has a sports bar restaurant feel where you can still bring your whole family & have good time. The girls couldn't make up their minds as to what they wanted so they ordered a mush mash of stuff & shared. A frito pie, mozzarella sticks, cheese curds (I think), one ordered a BLT & another ordered the patty melt. They split this between the 3 of them. I ordered the green chilie burger w/avocado. It was all delicious & hot. I tasted all the appetizers. I would definitely recommend this place as stop if your in Waco but don't get Spicy Bloody Mary just regular or maybe just a beer. read more

First stop on our Port Aransas vacation was to stop in Waco for lunch at Billy Bob's Burgers. It's a dog-friendly spot with a nice patio with misting fans. They brought water bowls full of cold water for our two fur-babies along with some bacon dog treats. Diane had a regular burger with sweet potato fries. Both were amazing - fresh, delicious. Mandy and I split the Cowboy burger - 2 beef patties, lettuce, tomato, an onion ring and a corny dog - thats right, a corny dog split longways and laid on top of the patties. It was amazing!! Mandy got an order of onion rings and I got an order of fries. Both were fresh, hot and delicious - the rings were perfectly breaded, not too heavy but nice and crunchy! The place is simple and clean. Good selection on the menu but not overwhelming. I am very pleased to try the Fiesta Salad with a burger patty and pleasantly surprised how good it is. It was refreshing but hearty. It really hit the spot but made the rest of my drive back to Houston light. We stopped in later in the evening after the rush. by the time food came out, it seemed they were closing up shop for the night. even though they have a full bar, they close at 9PM so be aware. WOW! Super yummy! This is apparently their smaller location. They have inside and outside seating. They were busy the whole time we were there. We got spicy cheese curds(YUM, they had a kick but not too bad), a jalapeño burger and a Philly cheesesteak and it was all amazing!! They had a decent variety of food and not at bad prices. I thought it was cool on their menu they had adult milkshakes with alcohol added in, which you don't see very often. First time trying this restaurant. I ordered door dash so I cannot comment on the place or staff. I can comment on the food though. I really loved the cheese curds. They traveled really well. They went great w the ranch that I chose to pair w it. The burger was super as well. I added a second patty for a minimal charge as well as cheese. The burger didn't have much moisture to it so I added a small amount of ketchup to it. The quality of the meat was super. It had quite a bit of pepper but I do like pepper. The special fries had a great flavor w the Philly steak peppers onions and shrooms. I added jalapeños and bacon. Being that they were fries they didn't travel well which is to be expected. Next time I will do the hoagie instead of the fries. That way I get the flavors but I believe the bread will hold up much better. It was a great lunch. What more can I ask for. The service was very fast here and the decor is nice as well. It's a cute little place and would be great to watch sports and have a nice burger at. I ordered a regular cheeseburger and fries, and it was good just not the best burger for the price. If you come here, I would come more for the overall atmosphere and experience combined with the food than the food alone. read more
