Very cute store where I bought a few mini spice shakers. The food was all very generous portions. The biscuits were so good and came with our meals. The meatloaf looked very dry, but actually was quite moist and delicious. The chicken and dumplings were just okay; I prefer the dumplings that are like a ball and smaller pieces of chicken. The fried chicken was just okay as well. I got the 3 entrees and 3 sides, and the Mac and cheese, hash brown scramble, and cinnamon apples were all pretty good. The staff was all very friendly. This location requires quite a few turns but is worth the mapping out. It was late, and Cracker Barrel was open offering something beyond the standard late night bites. I appreciate the all day breakfast menu, but was tempted by their dinner sampler options - going with the 2 meals (Meatloaf and Dumplings) but 3 sides. I was not expecting it to be so large for the price! In fact all the portions were very generous in our party. Despite the layer hour everything tasted freshly prepared and the service was just as welcoming as it is during the day. Our server was attentive, and even offered us waters to go which was much appreciated. I don't usually go for the dinner options, being a breakfast lover especially outside of typical breakfast hours, but after this experience I'm eager to try more of the dinner options. read more

The restaurant was pretty full. The menu offered about a dozen different breakfast items. They start serving lunch at 11. I had the bacon and egg breakfast casserole. It was good and also came with two biscuits. My husband had the grandma special. It came with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, ham and one other side. He chose cinnamon apples. We both enjoyed our meals. Food is okay, no idea why they don't have waffles and I think they need to offer home fries, like fried potatoes as opposed to just hashbrowns. Prices are pretty standard. Service is usually above average. My main gripe is as a customer, front parking lot is always full. Being there several times over the last couple months, I get there before they open and all the employees cars are parked up close to the building. I usually count about 8 cars. First time at a Cracker Barrel and this location had it organized and the food was good (but necessarily great) food. I had the meatloaf w/ Cole slaw, and fried okra. The wife had her plate, of whatever it was, and we split a side of onion pedals. I enjoyed my selections, at this location, enough to give it a 4 star rating. The Cracker Barrel in Lakeland was chosen on our drive because it was located where we thought we wanted to take a break from driving. The service was lovely, but the whole dining area had a foul smell, like they used the same mop from the bathrooms. Gross. The food was standard Cracker Barrel food, and everyone was happy with his/her order. I love the country ham with fried okra (well, theirs was a little soggy) and the turnip greens. We entered this location and were promptly greeted at the hostess stand and we seated right away. It too a few minutes for the server to come over and we were able to give our drink order and also our preferences for the Biscuits and Corn Bread to be brought out right away..she came back and brought our drinks and no Biscuits,etc. took out order, everyone around us was getting their baskets except us...we had been on the road and had not eaten Breakfast or Lunch, or we would not have cared...she came back with the meals and the bread at the same time, very busy with the table next to us visiting with them, sheist have known them, did not check back until around 10-15 minutes later. This was the worst CB experience we've ever had. The changes to the floor plan have definitely hurt the vibe here. They're clearly trying to maximize floor space. We felt like we were bumping elbows with the people next to us. The new traffic pattern for seating and the payment counter causes nothing but chaos. It was poorly thought out if at all. The new deco is ok but it has taken away the "country comfort" feel. Our server was nice but the service was very slow and all the food was undercooked. We heard about three other servers apologizing to their customers about the crowding and the extended wait for orders. We have been coming here for years but I doubt we'll be back to this location. There's too many small business cafes and establishments that care more about their customers vs making money by filling floor space. read more

My husband and I took our daughter and grandson out for breakfast. I was sitting at the table, I leaned forward and when I leaned back my shirt stuck to the side of the table. Apparently there was jelly on the side of the table. My husband flagged down a waitress and they cleaned off the jelly. A few minutes later a manager named Kevin came to our table and apologized and told me to pick out a shirt from the store it would be on him. Honestly I was caught off guard. I have never had a manager go above and beyond like Kevin did. I picked out a shirt and he told us the next time we stop in to let him know and he would come out and chat with us. Half of us didn't eat, we just went there for a nice place to talk, but we were well looked after all the same. At a time when establishments are clamping down on the privileges of customers who don't pay enough, out table lowered the average revenue per seat/hour and yet our teas were topped off, we always had enough hot coffee, and that clearly helped along a great conversation between folks getting to know each other. But it was bread so we got our food for free and the manager pay for our food because it was disgusting and we will never be going there again but the gift shop is good. Our family has eaten here for years, but this will no longer be on the list of restaurants we choose. We never got the sausage gravy for the biscuits. The hash brown casserole was sent back because it was so disgusting and the replacement was even worse. The bacon was burnt, the regular hash browns were semi burnt. This is a very busy Cracker Barrel located right off of I-4 at the entrance to Lakeland. It is nestled within a bunch of hotels and most likely never sees a down time. We arrived at lunch time but there was still plenty of parking (many customers just walk over from the hotels) and we had a good 25 minute wait for a table for two. As busy as they were, we were never neglected and received excellent service. The bathrooms were spotless and well stocked. We were lured here by the billboards advertising the fried chicken and they delivered. Very reminiscent of old style KFC spices from long ago with a good crispy crust. The meat on all the pieces, white and dark, was super moist and not a dry over cooked bit on any of it. The only "complaint" was that the serving was a 4 piece (1/2 chicken). That was a lot and neither of us could eat all that, so we ended up bringing most back with us. I wish they had a way to only order a 1/4 chicken or be able to split a meal. The biscuits, cornbread, and sides were excellent. Fried okra and hash brown casserole always good. Husband tried the new, limited time only, baked beans with bacon. Those were fantastic. Savory with good bacon bits (real not that fake stuff) all throughout and on top. Not sweet at all. Highly recommend. Even though we had to wait, this Cracker Barrel delivered on everything their brand represents. Excellent waitstaff, consistently good food, cleanliness. Shout out to this Cracker Barrel location in Lakeland! When I first walked in, I have to admit, I was a little put off by what appeared to be a flawed seating system. The wait was about 10 minutes and you had to get a text when your table was ready. After receiving the text I was annoyed to see people who had been behind me in line getting seated before me as I waited politely and patiently to be taken to my seat. So when the mgr, Scott finally came to seat me I was not a happy customer. HOWEVER, the service given to me by Scott and my server Georgia was IMPECCABLE! Georgia had a way of connecting with her customers and totally turning the tide on my dining experience. (Btw, she shared with me that she had been with Cracker Barrel for almost 30 years and was soon retiring... Congratulations Georgia) The food was delish, and all in all I have to hand it to them. I have always been a fan of Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Recently, I have discovered that they are just as good for lunch and dinner. We stopped at this location because it was within walking distance to our hotel. The second evening we went, Chason was our server. He was polite and did a great job of taking care of us. The food came out quickly and was hot. I love that they bring corn muffins and/or biscuits with the meal. The biscuits are my favorite and didn't disappoint. Drinks were refilled promptly. The nice thing about Cracker Barrel is the consistency. The menu is always familiar and the food is prepared pretty standard at each one. Homestyle food that tastes good and fills you up! Since the pandemic, sadly I feel the quality has declined. We stopped for breakfast upon returning from Orlando. Our server was excellent. She was dealing with several tables but she was moving right along. Our food came out fairly quickly and was ok. If this is indicative of how Cracker Barrel's are going to be , then the chain is not going to make it. They now charge 50 cents for a 1 oz serving of apple butter. You can have one butter and one packet of jelly for your biscuit. If you want more, there is an extra charge. I am surprised they didn't charge for the ketchup for the meatloaf. I had the Thursday turkey special. The turkey was dried out and in an odd way, the gravy on top was dried out with a skin top. The okra tasted mushy and lukewarm. The stewed apples were still okay. I love Cracker Barrel's pecan pancakes. I wasn't disappointed this time either. Consistent regardless of which one you hit. I love that! Everyone was wearing masks but some of the servers had them under their noses...I know they are uncomfortable but if you don't wear it over your nose, you may as not wear it at all.
