    All star breakfast

The chocolate chip waffle was delicious! The scrambled eggs were not my favorite. I liked the grits they were warm and creamy. The bacon was tasty and nice and crispy. The service was very good and attentive. We only had a short amount of time and we were in and out in thirty minutes. It was a great experience.

Third review and best I could give again was a "2". The workers are friendly. Several of them are real hustlers. They had a great "host" helping with seating, even opening doors. He helped clean tables quickly. I wanted breakfast, friend wanted lunch, which they accommodate well. When I ordered breakfast the server changed my order to incorporate a lower cost deal which I appreciated. After a long wait due to crowd, my meal arrived first and to maintain heat, I began eating right away. Here the issues began. Ketchup container empty and had to wave it in the air to get someone to replace it (though 8 behind counter were waiting for orders). Once replaced the hash browns had cooled off. I'd ordered "mothered" which adds onions and we found almost a teaspoon of onions buried at the bottom (about 5 diced onion chips). Not nearly enough for the meal (not sure of upcharge for this?) Told the waitress but she disappeared. Two eggs cooked perfectly (50c upcharge per egg due to current cost so $12 meal was $13. (One table grumbled loudly it up'd their price $4 for 8 eggs. Two slices of barely toasted toast with one jelly pat delivered. Bacon very undercooked "blubbery", 3 slices. Edible but not tasty. Greasy. They deserved a pat dry. Waffle Houses don't deal with rye bread. The meal was edible and I was hungry. They could do better in the cook department and the puny onions won't bring me back. My friend got a patty melt and the smothered hashbrowns. She lucked into about 2 tsps grilled onions, still puny amount. She had asked for wheat bread instead of Texas Toast so they had remade them but only told her upon bringing them so late--She ate after I had finished. She found it "ok" not great. She had told the server the coffee was not great. The waitress offered to make a fresh pot but friend said she was fine, finished. Waitress said she'd take it off her bill, but did not. $3 cup and her patty melt with hashbrowns was $17.50. Costs were too high for the lower quality. This is the reason it was six years for a return. I do appreciate the friendliness of the servers and the clean table. Food has to improve to a quality finish. Toast the toast, add more onions, keep ketchup filled, get the order right, etc.

You can't miss this Waffle House, it's the biggest one I've ever seen. It's also not yellow, it's more of a burnt umber color. The young lady that waited on us said it used to be an auto supply store and that they use some of the extra space in back for training other stores. Because of it's size, it has more seating and a larger waiting area. The place was really clean and smelled good. They had ads for their "Angus Burgers" in the window, so we decided "What the heck" and ordered some. I had the cheeseburger with bacon and my husband had the double cheeseburger. Both had hash browns on the side, of course. They were just really good, diner style hamburgers. For the price we paid, it was equivalent to fast food joints, but in my opinion, better quality. We were happy with a hot, fresh, fast, and very affordable lunch.

We always get great service at the South Florida Avenue Waffle House in Lakeland, FL. The hash browns and grits are the best.

New and clean! Good prices and good comfort food. We stopped here instead of a McDonald's. We shared a pecan waffles two scrambled eggs and hash browns well done. Plus 2 cups of joe. Out the door for 10 bucks! Plus the tip. So $13. Nice to see its a local place for families on a Friday night.

Sondra is an amazing cook. I've seen her in action several times over psst few months. She puts out hot food that looks and tastes good. She has also diffused confrontation between drunks and keeps a smile on the whole time.

Food fair, prices ok, music blaring way too loud. The staff is courteous, fairly quick service. Probably won't return because of loud music.

If you can find a way to get here though you absolutely should. I've been here a couple times and had people bring me things from here and I'm always very happy. My favorite thing I ever had here was a chocolate peanut butter pie, which was mind blowingly good. However, everything I've had from here has been pretty spectacular. I highly recommend the cookies here. I really love cookies, but their brown butter cookie is incredible. The pastries are really good too. I really enjoy the glazed croissant and I recently had a lemon twist that was very good. Finally, the sandwiches that I've had from here are both really good as well. I've only had the breakfast sandwiches, but I enjoyed the hot honey sausage biscuit and the bacon breakfast sandwich. 5 stars.

The strawberry icing actually tasted like strawberries in the most amazing way possible. My only real criticism : The line system was a bit confusing and it seemed like online orders were priority over people that were actually there. At least that's how it appeared. Other than that WE WILL BE BACK!

Appetizer of fried green tomatoes was marred by slices of tomato that were so thick that the knives on the table were incapable of cutting them. This same issue carried over to the green tomato blt, which was almost impossible to eat bc of bread that was also too thick. The bacon was so overcooked as to be dry sticks that shattered into tiny bits when you tried to eat the sandwich. The fries were allegedly hand cut, but looked & tasted like (cold) seasoned frozen steak fries. The FSKB chicken salad croissant was just a soggy mess. And the eggs Benedict featured "Canadian Bacon", which is a US marketing term for round slices of bacon, not Back Bacon or Peameal Bacon that is actually served in Canada. Overpriced & not worth a second try.

The vibe is awesome with brick walls, tasteful decor, and pleasant music, and just what I look for in a local coffee shop. Prices are fairly reasonable with many drink and food options. Although there was a bit of line when I visited, it moved quickly and staff was efficient in getting ordered items out to guests. I went with a white mocha frappe (5/5), asking for it to be made less sweet. It's not something I ordinarily see on the menu at local coffee shops, so was delighted at how good it was, with just the right amount of sweetness to it. It's shame that there's nothing like it at coffee shops close to where I live, as it's something that'd be in my regular rotation of caffeinated drinks I'd order. As my friends and I enjoyed our experience here, I'd definitely return to Black & Brew, and would recommend them to others looking for a quality coffee shop in Lakeland.

The standout for me was the Holiday Ham breakfast sandwich, and it absolutely lived up to its name. Built on a flaky buttermilk biscuit, it layers a light, fluffy egg soufflé with thinly sliced ham, praline bacon that adds just the right touch of sweetness, and a cranberry orange jam that ties everything together with a bright, unexpected pop. Every bite tasted thoughtful and seasonal without being overcomplicated--comfort food elevated. I paired it with Jennie's Dolce seasonal espresso drink, and it was so good I immediately wanted another. Even more impressive? The second one tasted just as perfect as the first--a small detail that says a lot about their consistency and care behind the bar. The coffee shop ambience immediately stands out, with a relaxed yet polished vibe that makes it just as ideal for a casual morning as it is for catching up on work or meeting friends. Service was warm and efficient, and you can tell this place has become a staple in the downtown community. If you appreciate creative twists on classic breakfast favorites and expertly crafted coffee drinks, Black & Brew is well worth the stop. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
