I come here usually early for breakfast , today I was here for lunch and ordered the campfire beef that in the menu look like several pieces of beef , when the food arrive there were some only 4 small pieces of beef and like 2 pounds of potato's . Overall, it was a very good experience! The food was pretty good. I haven't been here that often to give feedback on most of the menu. I had the country fried steak with a side of scrambled eggs and warm cinnamon apples. The biscuits were soft, warm and delicious! The coffee was a nice medium roast. Everything tasted good but could have been more warm. The service was outstanding. The place looked clean, except some of the menus could have been wiped more clean . You can see sauce smeared on one of the menu photos. When you are ready, you pay at the cash registers inside the gift shop, which was a little confusing. The gift shop is full of cool items! Clothing, specialty foods, take-home pies, health and beauty items, and many cool gifts. It's a great place to find a unique gift. There are lots of handicap accessible parking spots in front. After passing through the restaurant's storefront, we entered the dining area, which features a spacious interior decorated with vintage items and a large fireplace. I feel like Cracker Barrel's can be hit or miss, but this location was a hit when we were in town for a wedding. We went for lunch, and again for breakfast. Pretty consistent service which was pretty quick and attentive. For lunch, I tried there chicken tenders which were actually low key fire. OMG, what has happened to this location? We used to love eating here, but last visit, a delayed lukewarm greeting, We were sat at a dirty table that still had paper trash from the prior guests and the partition wall has a plastic sheet behind the loose, barely hanging trellis that was smeared with gunk. Dirty floor. We all know the portions shrank, but the taste is bland and boiled now too. It took forever to get a coffee refill as the server had a lot of tables to cover. All I have to say is "Yikes." Could have been much much better. The food here has really taken a dive from what it used to be. The menu feels like it's been chopped in half, and the options are skimpy. I will say that I'm glad they didn't mess with the decor at this location. The rocking chairs were still out front, the good classic decorations were still on the walls, the gift shop was in good order, and the fire in my seating section was raging and felt great on the back... The service at the table was good. They frequently checked on me. I was having a hard time deciding what to get simply because the menu was so barren of good options... I was in the mood for a good classic old fashioned biscuits and gravy, this day... There were only 2 other occupied tables in the entire section I was sat in, and right after sitting down and taking a glace at the menu I heard the table across from me asking the waitress if she could have her sausages re-heated, as they were served to them cold... Again, yikes!!! Huuuuge red flag when a classic American style restaurant can't even serve hot fresh meats that go out with every breakfast. I finally decided on getting the "Sunrise Special, Biscuits and Gravy with Sausage or Bacon", for $7.79, on the very back page of the menu. Not sure if this was the wisest decision, but it sounded good at the time! Where I come from in Virginia "Biscuits and gravy with sausage" means crumbled up biscuits, bite-size chunks of sausages mixed in, and absolutely covered in a sausage gravy! I guess the cooks and managers at Cracker Barrel, a southern company mind you, have never heard of such an abomination, because what i got was literally a plate of 2 sausage patties, 3 biscuits, a side of butter and jam packets, and a bowl of sausage gravy. I also got a side of 2 eggs scrambled with cheese, which was probably the saving grace of the meal. Let's start with the eggs, since they were clearly my highlight of the meal... The eggs tasted fresh and delightful, and were nice and hot. The flavor was perfect. No extra salt or pepper on them - and none extra was needed. You can always tell when you get fresh cracked eggs from a real egg, versus a pre-mix blend of eggs or, god-forbid, the ready-mixed eggbeaters style of carton-poured liquid egg. These were nice and fresh real eggs, with great fresh flavor. Add in some cheese and it's a match made in heaven for egg lovers. Now on to the more disappointing part -- I say this with a bit of jest, because while the meal wasn't bad, it certainly wasn't amazing or great. It was simply alright. The food could have been better. The gravy was decent - it was a good sausage gravy, but you can tell it was a bit lacking on salt and a meaty flavor that you expect from a good white gravy. I expect that they did this to cater to the old folks crowd who are always watching their salt intake, so they don't have another heart attack, and left out the sausage from the cooking of the gravy so they can appease the vegans and skittle-hair color crowd of liberal protestors that CB is pandering to these days... None-the-less, a sub-par flavor, because it wasn't cooked in the good old fashioned ways! Then, the sausage patties. They had less of a savory good meaty taste and more of something that was chemically manufactured with way too much liquid smoke flavoring... Don't get me wrong, I love a good sausage patty, and cheap ones can be good, but these take that liberty to a whole new level. These are extra cheap. The outer skin is quite tough, and like I said, the liquid smoke in them just vilifies the cheap quality as that's all you'll taste, rather than a good meat product made with care. The biscuits were good... A nice fluffy dough brick which crumbled slightly and split in half well... Easy to spread butter and jam on. A nice biscuit. But, apparently in Cracker Barrel's new-age mind, "Biscuits and Gravy" means putting everything separate and making you do it yourself, so they can pander to a wider crowd. Initially the waitress brought me the wrong check - which was quite amusing... It pays to pay attention, literally! I noticed before I had paid for someone else's meal, and brought it to her attention - and the right check was dropped off to me... Thankfully the bill was just under a $20 bill, which I readily had in my wallet, so I left that on the table and got outta there! I got the hamburger steak with three sides the menu said it comes with grilled onions and gravy. We saw the ad on tv for chicken fried turkey and 'tis the season, we decided to drive 30 minutes to Manassas for this new item. Ahhhh, parking the car, we see the lit up Cracker Barrel store with Christmas decorations. Walking in, Christmas and Thanksgiving items dominate the store. Since we arrive before prime dinner time, we were able to get a table for 2 easily. Because of a shift change, it took a while for our server to take our drink and food order. After 10-15 minutes we got our food. I ordered the country fried turkey with green beans and turnip greens. My food was warm but not hot. The ad mentioned the turkey was fried to a crisp perfection and juicy. Mine was dry and crunchy. And not hot. If you see the pictures, the gravy congealed. There was flavor from the crust of the fried turkey but the turkey was thin & dry. Did I mention dry? The green beans and greens were better tasting as they were juicy unlike the dry turkey. My son got his food piping hot. Chicken tenders juicy and crispy. The sides hashbrown cass and mac n cheese were warm as well. The steak was hot and cooked medium rare. Good garlic salt flavor but the steak was tough and not tender. It was beefy and juicy though. Service was good. I got a refill before asking for one as my iced tea was diminishing. Sign of good service is the little things like this. Overall, food was avg but service was above avg. Country music could be cranked up a bit over the speakers. A train wreck! Although the service used to be better, it has since drastically reduced since 2019! First things first, recently went there for my birthday with my family members (family of 4), and one of the waiters who we think is new took our orders but messed up on a lot of things! -Did not give us any of the sides (or didn't give us all of it) that came with the meal (like a cinnamon roll, or pieces of toast) -Left some of the pamphlets that are used to order on our table (we put them on the empty table beside us just to be nice) -Charged us for sides that were never delivered to us (charged us for three pieces of toast instead of two, as well as the cinnamon roll that never came) -The table we sat at faced the kitchen area, where waiters, cooks, and possibly the manager were relaxing and talking to each other while we waited for our food for 48 minutes (all together, we only ordered a bacon burger, two pancakes, fries and a simple omelet) -When one of my family members and a stranger asked for the price on an item that said "below 6$," the older employee helping us stated they didn't know, and got another employee to help us, she too didn't know. In the end they both retreated to the backrooms area of the gift shop and never returned. The other stranger who asked too just took the item and walked out. On our way out, a little disappointed, one of the waiters was chasing from what we assumed was a male partner, stumbling through the snow and ice racing him to his car, until they both got to the car. An argument was soon held where the waiter was begging her partner not to leave her, be he drove off onto the highway... Although I would rate this place a 3/5 stars, I would prefer for others not to experience what we did. The app is really confusing to use when you're traveling from a different area of the country. That said, their in person to go ordering took about 15 minutes for two entrees, which isn't bad. Cooks made the order perfectly and the attendant took care to confirm all the add-ons that were needed were provided in the bag. It is walking distance from the Courtyard by Marriott and the reason I chose this location. If I get stranded at Dulles airport again, I will consider this an option again. Not just from the days traffic but looks like it's not had a good cleaning in a long time. Floors beneath our table were filthy, food on our chairs we had to clean before we sat. Our server brought our food and never returned to check on us, our water never refilled, we had to ask other workers to bring gravy that wasn't given us as ordered and then for our check after waiting a long time. The resturant was as all CBs are, w wiped down table but just barely to the level of clean that keeps you coming back.. We ordered the granny apple tea and it was the bomb. Needs to stay on the menu all year. I got the southern chicken and she the catfish. (Dinner food) Decent portions of food all around and served at a good temperature. Okay... why has Cracker Barrel abandoned the use of seasoning in their cooking process. There is only so much salt and pepper can to at the table. And even the new menu looks bland.. Remember the meat in the green beans and turnip greens, the buttery biscuits, butter on the broccoli when it was hot? But, the catfish was hot and flaky, but bland. The chicken was fried, had some taste but you could tell it had been sitting back there under heat lamps for a minute, dry and tough. (Again, for me to call it dry.... Dang.) I miss the flava!!! CB was once one of our favorite places to eat & routinely drove 30 minutes just to go there. Recently used a Peg Reward & my coffee was credited. Then I was re-charged for the same cup of coffee. What? Is CB a bait & switch operation now? Our local Dumfries VA location is ALWAYS COLD. Food is ALWAYS COLD. We sometimes sit down & immediately leave without ordering b/c it is so COLD. Servers say its for the worker's comfort. No comfort for customers I guess. Complaints just fall on deaf ears. Nobody knows anything. Manager will sometimes give empty meaningless unenthusiastic apologies with no action. We finally stopped complaining. Just don't go there much any more. Food selection & quality not as good as it used to be. Many favorite food items no longer on menu or favorite sides are now extra charge for inferior option. Prefer the old paper menu before the marketing team ruined the original branding. While CB used to be our favorite haunt for fish & chips, no good any more. My husbands favorite chicken & dumplings no longer contains any chicken, just heavy globs of uncooked dough & gravy that tastes like grease. Tried to leave a review on the CB website, but at the end there is no way to SUBMIT, only CANCEL. So we will likely CANCEL our efforts to eat at CB going forward. read more

Went here on 1/8/25 - Wednesday. We arrived at about 1:30pm - dirty tables everywhere - the servers were busing tables so the bus boys obviously didn't show up for work. I get it that it was after the lunch rush but the place was dirty. One positive note, our server Dakota was attentive and personable. Problem is he was put in a bad situation where they didn't have biscuits, cornbread, and their special of the day was broccoli cheddar chicken but they didn't have the broccoli - really? He offered alternatives - like toast but come on - how hard is it to keep biscuit and cornbread mix around. Seriously, I think corporate should investigate this location because it does not represent the Cracker Barrel standards - management needs training. This place does a VERY BRISK BUSINESS. I am unclear exactly why except that it's so close to Manassas National Battlefield Park. There are a few things that I did not care for: 1. You HAVE to walk thru the Venus Flytrap of a GIFT SHOP to get to the Dining Room. The GIFT SHOP is chock full of every type of Knick knack known to man. It's VERY irritating to me. They should put the GIFT SHOP in a SIDE AREA as you enter THE LOBBY but I DO NOT like having to wind my way around shelves packed with bricks a brac to get to the restaurant. 2. The interior is decorated like a Country store which is fine, however, the lighting is poor. And I noticed that a lot of OLDER PPL who clearly are one of their strongest demographic, could NOT easily READ THE MENU bc of the POOR LIGHTING. 3. THE FOOD IS *NOT* COOKED TO ORDER which is a HUGE ISSUE FOR ME. We ordered our breakfast & our food was at our table within 3-5 mins from when we ordered & the restaurant was PACKED. My scrambled eggs were pretty dry, flavorless & had hardly ANY melted cheddar cheese on them. Hugely disappointing. I will say the bacon & sourdough toast were cooked perfectly. The hash browns were in a small mound & were fine but again, definitely NOT COOKED TO ORDER. I ordered an iced Vanilla Latte which was actually pretty good so I was happy about that. 4. The food isn't cheap. We both had 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns & toast & it was $15.60 each which I find EXPENSIVE. You can get the same at IHOP or DENNY'S for easily $3-4 less. 5. The service was FANTASTIC. Our young waiter, Emanuel, could NOT have been NICER. He was prompt, kind, helpful and efficient. He checked in on us routinely to make sure we had everything we needed. His timing was fantastic & it was a VERY busy SUNDAY. The woman at the checkout was so much FUN. She was bubbly, sassy, helpful & efficient. Loved her! Overall, I just didn't care for this place bc I prefer my food to be COOKED TO ORDER. I go to DENNY'S & IHOP because I ALWAYS have CONSISTENTLY GREAT EXPERIENCES. Their food is cooked to order & is fresh, delicious & delivered hot to your table. My colleague, who lives in this area, agreed with me. 2nd UPDATE 2/26/25 4:30pm on a Tuesday: My parents love Cracker Barrel. If they are traveling they look for a Cracker Barrel for a meal. This is why we keep going to this location. The issues I've listed in previous reviews aren't any better. There are two inexcusable items for us. I'm handicapped so I use a rollator. The host asked the 3 of us if we wanted breakfast menus. Our reply only 2 breakfast. In a section with 2 other parties the host chose to seat us at a table against the wall AND in a corner! Thank you for your attention to detail of your customers. This young man has little experience or a manager who just doesn't care or both unfortunately. My dad said to me that it's fine. We moved the table. At this point I'm not sure what this experience will be like. Looking at the menu...3 dinner menus and 1 breakfast. So he solidified that not only does he not care he also can't count. The server was a nice young man. But guess what?! Cold coffee! The biscuits were hot and in better condition than the last time. He brewed a new pot of coffee that we appreciated. He was nice and attentive throughout so I'll move on to the kitchen staff. The dregs of hash brown casserole, cold eggs and cold pancakes. If I've not stated before I never let anyone take my food back to the kitchen or get a replacement. So we ate what we could and the rest went home with us. At the time of this review there is an egg shortage. Cracker Barrel put out a statement that they will not charge extra for any eggs ordered. I eat my eggs scrambled hard so my eggs are usually warm and not runny. We eat at this location because it's on the way home from doctors appointments. It takes another 30 minutes or so to get back home. I won't be crude but I barely made it home in time. And this continued for 2 more hours. I chalked it up to anxiety for an unrelated issue. I ate my leftovers this morning, no eggs, and the same thing happened. And I an PO!! My first thought is the eggs. But who knows. I'm not going to agree with eating there anytime soon! read more

We were quoted 20 minutes but were texted in about 6 minutes which was great. We came mid afternoon a weekend. Our server Jose greeted us fast and came to check on us periodically during our meal- he made our experience a positive one. Food here is the same as most Cracker Barrel's- excellent. I'd recommend the country fried steak, cheese curds, Mac and cheese, hash brown casserole and Coca Cola cake. Everyone knows what to expect at Cracker Barrel, this particular one is in a handy location right off of the I-66 at Manassas. It's also right next door to Manassas National Battlefield where we were headed. So a breakfast stop here is a no-brainer. The hostesses and wait staff are very efficient and friendly and service is super fast. No wait to be seated and a bonus we were right in front of the fireplace. Food came out fast, buttermilk pancakes light and fluffy and also good eggs and thicker than most places hickory smoked bacon. I'd say this is better than the average cracked barrel and bonus points for a nice clean bathroom. If you're looking for old fashioned country breakfast there's no better spot in the area. read more
