This is such a lovely combination of an American restaurant and gift shop. I found this place while searching for a breakfast spot near the Petro Center bus stop, and I'm glad I did. I ordered the iced S'mores Latte and the Campfire Breakfast Skillet, and both were delicious. The coffee had a strong flavor, just the way I like it, and everything in the skillet was savory and flavorful. Both the drink and the food were beautifully prepared. The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was the two biscuits that came with the skillet. The texture wasn't quite to my liking. I generally prefer biscuits that are richer and less fluffy. That said, it was a minor issue in an otherwise excellent meal. Overall, I had a great experience here. I also enjoyed browsing the gift shop next to the restaurant and found lots of cute items that caught my eye. Ordered carry out. They said ten to fifteen minutes, it was ready 45 minutes later. My grilled cheese had cheese that was not melted. Paid $100 for five takeout meals and had a cold grilled cheese. Stopped in for lunch. Hubby & I were seated within a few minutes & our friendly server took our drink order. The water I was served tasted like a chlorinated swimming pool. I got Beans & Greens ($8.99) because I've always liked it in the past. Hubby originally ordered fried catfish but said he wanted the grilled catfish. When he took his first bite, a look of horror came over his face & he grabbed his Coke trying to put out the fire. I like spicy food so I tried the catfish & my tongue caught fire! In all fairness, the menu does say spicy grilled fillets but I didn't expect it to be that hot. The server brought him the fried catfish which tasted really good. The cornbread was delicious also. The beans & greens I ordered were delivered to me as green beans & pinto beans. I sampled the green beans & they tasted canned. The server quickly corrected the error & brought me a cup of turnip greens. The turnip greens were very salty & not enjoyable. I was SHOCKED to see the pinto beans were served in a small cup instead of a BOWL as it was in the past. Are pinto beans really that expensive that you can't serve a bowlful instead of a cup? The waitress avoided us and my mom had to go to the kitchen to ask for our food and they said they couldn't even tell us when it would be ready or where it was. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Service was very slow. Our server was very good, kept checking on our food but it seems the problem was with the kitchen. People waiting for their food at some of the tables left since it was taking so long. Many diners were waiting for food but the kitchen seemed to be running far behind. Once we did get our food it was very good, and our server did a great job keeping our drinks filled and checking on us to see if we needed anything. We've been stopping at this Cracker Barrel for years on trips between Indiana and Ohio, and it has never disappointed. Today, getting seated took awhile, but we got excellent service from Melanie, our server. She refilled my husband's drink several times without his asking and apologized when it took her awhile to get back to him once. The food was hot and good ... real comfort food. And Melanie, bless her, remembered that we each wanted just one biscuit (no sense in wasting biscuits we would be too full to eat). I'm unsure how a restaurant this clean, with food this tasty, with staff this nice could be sitting at only 3.5 stars. :-( Everyone was nice, friendly, & welcoming. The food was served hot and arranged carefully with nary a drop or crumb out of place, excellent presentation. The rest rooms were clean. The faucets are those brief on-off to conserve water (awesome, way to save water!) The staff hustled and you didn't see anyone standing around. Tables were thoroughly cleaned. Emily, our server, came by multiple times with refills, as she did to her other customers. The manager (I think her name is Lisa..?) came by to check in on us too. I'm sorry that some have experienced less than 5-*. I experienced only top-notch everything. Highly recommend, with neither hesitation nor reservation. My husband has an addiction to Cracker Barrel. Not usually my favorite place, but I gotta say of every location I've been to this was my favorite! Our waitress Caroline was so friendly and great with the kids. Our fried chicken was better than ever before. But on my cross country drive from NYC to LA I stopped here and had a great time, such a great time that I visited Cracker Barrel two more time on the rest of my trip. I dream about the chicken n' dumplings, carrots, and fried apples. They were delicious and comforting when I needed comfort the most, on the road to a new home. She brings us our dinks, me a water, and my mom a coffee. When my mom ordered her coffee she asked for creamer... no creamer. She says that she'll get the creamer packets... no creamer packets. Our food gets here and I ordered the breaded sirloin steak with a side of mashed potatoes, green beans, and fried apples. my mom got the chicken and dumplings with two sides of hash brown casserole. When the food came out I thought the steak was a little small (I was wrong) and the mashed potatoes looked stale, hard, or reheated. I tried the mashed potatoes and they seemed like they had been reheated and they didn't taste good. I took a bite of the green beans and they were way too sweet! (I forgot to mention that I got cornbread muffin and my mom got biscuits) I tried the cornbread and it was hard as heck and it didn't taste good! So i asked if my mom would want to trade me a biscuit for a cornbread muffin. She said yes but gave me the one she took a bite out of so I took a bite out of the one I was giving her. I tried the biscuit, it was pretty good but also dry. And the moment you've all been waiting for... The steak!!!! I took a bite... eh it was ok, I wouldn't order it again. Very upsetting and disguising visit. The manager is walking around serving food with a bandaid on his elbow. This actually had drainage dripping from it. We approached him in private to state this is definitely unacceptable as it poses health risks to others. He was very rude and said "yea, I will change it" and then walked away. there was blood dripping even on the table when he would set food down. other staff on duty was aware of this and said he has been doing that for awhile!!! this place needs to be shut down and they cleaned!! read more

This was hands down my worst Cracker Barrel experience. I asked for a a glass of wine but didn't have my ID so I said I still wanted it and was running out to the car to get it. Came back in and waited a few minutes before I went to the restroom but left my ID on the table, I asked when I came back if she had been back to check it and was told yes. I could tell she did because I had a water now which I drank. It was 16 minutes between ordering and getting our food, not once did our server come back. I sat for 5 minutes with no water or anything to drink. The manager was walking around like she was doing something but nope just trying to look managerial without actually doing anything. Finally I gave up on getting anything went back out to my car to retrieve my water bottle and proceeded to fill my glass back up with water from it. After being in the car with kids and car problems for 9 hours I really had been looking forward to a glass of wine. When she brought out the food she asked if I had received my wine and I said no but to just cancel it. She wasn't old enough to deliver the wine and someone else was supposed to bring it out. Perhaps when the manager stood there doing nothing she could have made herself useful. She literally looked in my direction as I filled my water with my water bottle. It was not super busy when we were there. The food was as expected nothing great but reliably exactly what was expected. I picked this place because my husband could get breakfast all day and I could get a what I am sure would have been mediocre glass of wine. We have dined here 7 or 8 times in our travels between WI and NC but we're not likely to come to this location again. read more

Received toast burnt on one side, not toasted on the other, old dried out tomatoes, 1 crispy slice of bacon, 1 undone piece of bacon and eggs that were pre-over easy and leaking clear over the plate. We typically have never had an issue with this Cracker Barrel, but our most recent visit was an exception. Our obviously new waitress took our order and went about her business waiting on her other tables. About 10 minutes later, she came back and asked to take our orders. We reminded her she'd already done that. She left and did not come back for about 45 minutes, where she told us that she had not put in our order. I asked to see the manager, who I informed of the situation. He offered to comp our dinner, but we just paid for our drinks and left. Not exactly stellar service, but going 45 minutes without even checking with us was unacceptable. We'll probably go back, but they need to work on staff training. read more

I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in the 21st century. They still make you think it's the 1930s when you step up to the building. My parents liked the rockers that Cracker Barrel keeps on the front porch so much that they bought a pair like it from somewhere in Tennessee. When the restaurant was too busy, my grandparents, parents, and aunts and uncles would be sitting in the rockers, waiting for tables to be freed. At 6 a.m., you don't have to wait. All the tables are free of customers. I don't remember the last time I went somewhere for breakfast and I was the first. On the road, I usually skip the motel's free breakfast because I'm always 10 minutes late. At Cracker Barrel, nothing is free, but the smiles and the friendly attitude of the staff was close to that. I always wonder about this location because they're always looking for help, and strangely, they advertise for jobs in Spanish as well as English. So, I ordered Gravy & Biscuits, Plain Hash Browns, and a small skim milk (got to compromise somewhere since the gravy has loads of fat). $8.21 isn't bad, though you can have the Hash Brown Casserole (cheese, bread crumbs added?) and get the same price. You get 3 biscuits and a bowl of gravy on a plate, the hash browns cover 75 % of another plate, and the small milk is an 8 ounce container. I thought that the milk was incredibly expensive for $1.99 since I had get a gallon (120 more ounces) at Aldi for the same price. They did a reasonable job, but this isn't home-cooked food. It doesn't remind me of any relatives' or friend's relatives' cooking, unfortunately. The hash browns, as you can see in the photo were cooked on one side, then flipped and cooked on the other side. The majority were white, chilly to lukewarm, and barely cooked. The biscuits were baked well and fluffy and tender. The sausage gravy lacked pepper. I'm sure the recipe was not supposed to offend anyone but go anywhere in 6 states, and you won't find such a mild recipe anywhere else. What's wrong with this? Nothing, really. I like a bit more taste and they have to appeal to the widest variety of people. The food was better, once I did a little doctoring. I would imagine this appeals to anyone 60 or older, especially those who didn't live near a coast. read more

We got there at about 3:30 and waited an hour for our food. My husband's food was ice cold. My daughter and my food was the chicken and duplings. She got green beans and Mac and cheese, I got mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. It tasted like they had poured either sugar or syrup on all of it. It was disgusting! They gave like 3 duplings on the plate. Our waitress did not bring our refills, until we were leaving. The manager came over and was unprofessional. We told him the problems and he did not apologize. He said he would take care of the bill and walked away. Got home and felt like we all had food poisoning. We WILL NOT be back to this location. I will say the staff in the gift shop are really nice. Terrible, terrible. We come here a lot and 7 times out of ten it's not good, but we tolerate it. No more!! read more

We came here for my husband to get Biscuits and Sausage Gravy and I wanted an omelette. We have not been here for a bit. When we got here there are no omelette a on the menu anymore. My husband got the Biscuits and Gravy and was very disappointed that there was no sausage gravy. It was just Gravy and had no sausage in it. We will not be back! read more

Then when we would try to talk to our waitress she wouldn't even look at us or stop to see what we needed.
