Cold restaurant Cold food on a cold plate; cool toast, cold butter; cold eggs. Tasted nasty grease on hashbrown casserole and the chicken fried chicken. In which that menu item changed. So much breading on it seems like they were keeping up with KFC. And took away sides that were included. Used to love this place. Bring back the old chicken fried chicken grandpas breakfast!!! This is both a store and a restaurant. The store has tons of really interesting things, many of which are season specific so I picked up something for Halloween. The food is really good. The amount of food is very good and the price is decent. The service was good and the wait time was short. Expect a lot of people and it's quite lively, but whatever time it took waiting wasn't quite enough for me to finishing looking at all the stuff in the store. read more

I have been going to Cracker Barrel for 20 plus yrs and always order the Chicken fried steak. My food was cold. The gravy tasted like paste. Sent it back and now it's hard as a rock a dried out. Predictable food that will fill you up without breaking the bank. Usually fun decor with a sometimes local vibe. Server quality can vary widely. The store is filled with over-priced goods that are far more cute than practical and a great way to pass the time on a long wait. Throwback candy choices are fun ... especially if you remember them. Whenever I'm traveling if I don't have time to find local, good cafés or food, I usually hit the Cracker Barrel for the classic bacon, eggs, and pancakes. My family has loved coming here in the past and it has been our spot for some time. Today was not a great day. Our food was good but we never were asked for refills, never received our biscuits and the waitress said she didn't know the difference between the teas so we would just need to taste and give to the right person. When leaving the lady at the register made a point to ask my dad how many ppl he fed today bc the bill was high, five we had five people. And then she looked at my mom (who looks young for her age and younger than my dad) and then asks my dad if "he took his mother out for lunch today" and then was so surprised when my mom got upset. Showed up expecting it to be busy, 5 min wait but we were seated within a minute; excellent. We then sat at the table for 30 minutes before our server came and got our order. Took probably 15 minutes to get our drinks. While we were waiting for our food after order, two separate tables next to our table were seated and got their full meals before we got ours. I've been to a very busy cracker barrel more than a couple times and have never had to wait this long for anything. Unpleasant experience - we went for a friends birthday who wanted home style, comfort food and the ambiance was off from the get go. The hosts drew attention to our upset toddler, which doesn't help as it acknowledges her behaviors. Once at the table, the service was SLOW and lacking any service skills (attentive, connection, suggestive). Food came out beyond slow and everyone complained of it being cold and/or like it was sitting in the warmer for to long. My chicken tenders were hard & I barely ate enough to equate to one. We went here for lunch. If you have not been here, it is country style cooking. Breakfast, fried chicken, biscuits, green beans, mashed potatoes, etc. this is one of the few restaurant chains that has a first shop attached. It is all part of the eclectic feel. We ordered turkey, chicken and Mac and cheese. We shared the Coca Cola chocolate fudge cake. Food was hot, fast, tastee and filling. Service was great. Only negative was the seating area was cold. We were to Cracker Barrel tonight looking forward to our order of catfish only to see it was no longer on the menu. We asked about it and told that it was taken off by corporate and was very disappointed as that was our reason for going to this place to eat. I ended up ordering the Saturday special of pork chops and was not impressed with them. Please bring back the catfish as that is the only reason we go there. Our waitress Jennifer was terrible, she smelled like alcohol and she was slurring her words and she never came to us and we ordered appetizers and they took forever. We ordered and got our food before our appetizers because she didn't put it in.. our food was cold, took 40 minutes to get our food and didn't come back to check on us. The manager gave us our ticket and when Jennifer came back to our table finally she asked us if we got our ticket my mom said yes and she gave her a nasty look ever She was terrible. Our waitress Janne J was wonderful!! The food was so spot on and hit the spot and then some after a long day of traveling. Our waitress went out of our way to make sure we were well taken care of and satisfied. It was one of the best meals at a restaurant I've had In a long time. My mom's chicken was a little over done, but Janne took care of that and brought fresh out that was done perfectly and extra bread as well. I eat at Cracker Barrels when I travel, unfortunately I came to this restaurant last night expecting the same awesome did and service, not so much. I ordered unsweet tea, got sweet tea, and was told that they were out of tea, WHAT? Then, we got our food, it was good, asked for extra muffins and biscuits, and extra napkins because we ordered the fried chicken. Had to chase down the manager to get them. Then, was told that the tea would be taken off the bill we've the waitress brought me a glass of water! If course, it wasn't, had to talk to the manager, who was full of excuses. For starters, it is July 4th. I understand they are busy on top of being short staffed. Our waitress's name was Jennifer. I'm not sure if she was dumb or drunk/high. She had a poor attitude and did not present herself in a kind manner. My party of 3 all ordered chicken meals, and she tried to give us meatloaf? The lemonade was undrinkable. The cornbread was served MOLDY. The mashed potatoes were cold and quite gross. It was clear the food had sat under the warmer for at least 20 minutes. we spent an hour waiting for food, 25 of that waiting to order even drinks. She claimed to be busy, but her section was 3 tables which amounted to maybe 7 people? She never checked on us and when i made her talk to us, it was because the sides were forgotten. Normally when we come to cracker barrel it's good staff and good portions. We had none of that today, the portions were very small and the staff was sour. We came a month ago and the food was fine and Matthew was our waiter and he was excellent so i dont know what changed in a month. The manager on duty did not care at all about our concerns. We are super understanding people and tried to be kind about it to prevent somebody complaining whose going to be a lot nastier but we definitely got brushed off as if serving mold is okay? make it make sense. anyways- i hope corporate comes through and cleans everyone's attitude and the kitchen too! read more
