It is what it is; QSR (Quick Service Restaurant). Every CB I have ever eaten in has been worth my time for a good meal at a fair price. Service is usually good and I have never had a bad server. However, it's not a dining experience. It's just good food & service with great ambiance in a well maintained facility. The Cracker Barrel in Statesboro is very good. What made my visits last Monday was our server. She was attentive and friendly without being too much. CB is fortunate to have her. We waited a really long time for our food Biscuits were under cooked and didn't come out until after we ate The eggs were not cooked the way we asked for The portions were surprisingly small Not to mention - One order never came out at all!! Apparently they ran out of an ingredient and DIDN'T tell us until all the other food (which, again, we waited a long time for) came out!! We were offered the opportunity to order something different but at that point we just wanted to leave. Additionally, there is no gluten-free menu or labels in the menu. A man-child and his wife, famished from a days toil, sought respite from the sun in a place bedazzled by an early 1900s hoarder. We entered the doors into cold air and a confused ambiance. Was it a candy store? Was it a music store? Perhaps it was a repository for the forgotten cast offs of a less enlightened era? Regardless, they had food and I had currency. The hostess supplied us with menus and we took our seats, and waited. The 7 top to our right took their seats, and waited. I and my Love discussed life and the struggles ahead, and waited. The Children at the next table screamed at iPads and their parents, and waited. Finally we saw him. B. He asked us for our drink orders and if we were ready to order, and we decided to order everything. Not everything. But, everything we wished to consume, since we weren't sure how long the next wait would be. 2 country fried steaks, a Side salad and 4 sides betwixt us, with Beignets. We received our drinks after a wait, I assume for a long line at the drink station due to the 3:45 rush of 5 tables. Soon after which our Beignets arrived. We set our dessert aside and waited. From point of order to completion, the kitchen did a magnificent job. The food came out almost as hoped. From the condition of the fries, I feel that they may have languished under a warmer for too long. When it was finally delivered, we requested the conspicuously absent biscuits, a table staple of the establishment. And a bottle of 57. B jotted this down and then proceeded to take the 7 tops full order. Being aware that the food that the sauce was intended for was getting colder the longer that the laws of thermodynamics were allowed to remain in play, my wife flagged down a more efficient server, who had our surplus condiments in our hands in only moments. Red hair, didn't catch the name, but good employee. Give her a raise. As we ate, just as expected, the 7 top with small children consumed Bs time for the remainder of our meal. He eventually brought us the 57, seemingly oblivious to the identical bottle already resting beside my plate. . He also brought our biscuits, after we had stacked our plates in anticipation of the check. We mused that we were wise to have ordered the Beignets when we did Our check and box came surprisingly quickly given previous precedent. We lamented our cashless world because we were unable to give a couple of dollars to the redhead for going above and beyond her associate. As we left, we inquired about the staffing, if perhaps they were shorthanded that day. The Cashier, nice lady, made a valiant attempt to upsell the chocolates by the register and informed us that the kitchen was down a cook. I applaud the shorthanded kitchen for keeping things together and your chefs for their efforts to feed us. However, none of the struggles suffered by the kitchen could explain why B seemed to be absent from time. Overall, the experience was a wash. read more

My family had takeout tonight at Cracker Barrel. I had the Broccoli Cheddar Chicken. It had no Cheddar at all,at least visable or taste wise on it. It was very dry as was the Broccoli casserole. But edible is really all I can say about it. The corn was good but probably just came out of a can though. The cornbread was very small and cooked a little long for me, but again edible. If that was your goal was just to be edible, then you hit it on the head, so to speak. The quality of Cracker Barrel had decreased significantly in the last 5 years or so. My sister and her husband took my boyfriend and me here after they picked us up from the airport. I never been to Cracker Barrel before, and my first impression was surprise because not only is it a restaurant, but it is also a store. We were able to purchase Cheerwine from the store to drink with our dinner, and our server provided us with glasses of ice which I thought was nice. I had never heard of Cheerwine before, but it is a cherry-flavored soda created in Salisbury, North Carolina. It is a "Uniquely Southern" drink. We were seated quickly, but it took a while for our food to come out. And once we got our food, it was lukewarm, as if it had been sitting out for a while. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with Mac and Cheese and Hash-brown Casserole. The country fried steak was a bit tough to eat but tasted good, and the gravy was thick and flavorful. The mac and cheese and hash-brown casserole were both delicious--my only complaint about the food is that the portions are small. Our table also got a basket of biscuits and cornbread. The cornbread is different than what I'm used to eating as I only ever had sweet cornbread, but it did compliment the dish well. Overall, the food I had at Cracker Barrel was good, but the service was lacking. I would come back here again if I'm ever in the area. read more

Came to cracker barrel looking forward to some good friends with some buddies. Turned out with hair in my food and hair in all of my buddies food. We asked for honey and jelly for our biscuits and we never got it. One of our friends never got her water. One of my buddies never got his food until the very end when we were leaving. I never got any syrup for my pancakes and they were almost too hard to even eat. Once I got to the register to pay I told the cashier my food had a hair in it and she didn't acknowledge it until i tapped my card to pay and her words were "alright get out of here" . We have eaten here in the past and it was fine. We were here yesterday and service was slow and they were out of fresh fruit. We ate breakfast today and service was again slow. Asked for 2 condiments and was told would get them but failed. Asked for well done sugar cured ham but received warm country ham and stated it was sugar when questioned but it wasn't. I ordered a steak with a side salad and double Mac & cheese; meatloaf with mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, and green beans; and a chef salad. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the salads were fine. The steak and Mac & cheese was barely warm, The meatloaf was room temperature and the mashed potatoes were cold - so cold that instead of being creamy when I put my fork in, a piece broke off, I could cut it with my fork into pieces. We were seated pretty quickly and the restaurant was unusually crowded so we will give them that .... However, our waitress (Faith) was in such an absolute hurry that she walked away from our table either while still talking to us or when we were trying to talk to her. So we got our drinks in a decent amount of time as expected buuuuuuuttt our food took about 40 minutes longer to get to our table. Again, ok, they were busier than usual but we don't think that is a real excuse for Luke warm and poor quality food (at full price I might add). I mean picture sliding your butter knife into your mashed potatoes and picking them up like a mashed potato lollipop?? The waitress would offer us things like jelly for our biscuits and refills for our drinks but never returned with anything. We did request to speak to the manager and after a short conversation he did apologise and excused the service and food on being overly busy that night. I ordered roast beef, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and gravy the wife ordered maple bacon grilled chicken w/o the bacon (who does that?), with broccoli, mashed potatoes, and gravy, the kid ordered chicken tenders with steak fries. We also ordered fried pickles, we never got those. It was taking a little longer than usual to get our food, so my wife had asked: "Aren't we supposed to get biscuits"? Our waiter replied: "yes" and brought them out. The biscuits were nice and hot and good, but he didn't bring or ask if we wanted butter, jelly or honey. My wife had to ask for some apple butter. When we finally got our plates my plate had meatloaf on it, so it took a little too long again to fix that correction. My roast beef was tender, but had absolutely no flavor, the broccoli was damn near raw, my mashed potatoes and gravy were good. My daughter wanted ketchup the waiter took so long I went and got it from an empty table, she was half way through her meal by then. She really enjoyed her meal even without the ketchup. My wife really enjoyed her meal as well. The men's bathroom had a urine odor and needed attention. I notified a staff member, because the sign on the bathroom door said so. read more

What an awful experience we had today. We waited over an hour for a table m, by the time we sat down we were starving. Our server, Tristan, was rude and ignored multiple requests for biscuits or cornbread to come out quickly. The server slammed things on the table multiple times. The manager stood at the front of the restaurant just watching the chaos unfold doing nothing. People were waiting extremely long for food all throughout the restaurant. With all the waiting, our meals still came out wrong and cold. The entire mornings took almost 3 hours. I definitely will not be returning. Corporate restaurants that don't care about the quality of service because people will still continue to come regardless no thanks, I'll spend my hard earned money where it's worth it. I only gave this restaurant one star because that was the minimum. We waited over an hour for our food (breakfast plates). We were offered a basket of bread and accepted when our food was taking so long. When the bill came, our meals were over $3 more each than the menu stated. I asked the server about it and she said you added eggs. I explained that our meals came with two eggs, grits, etc. I showed her the price on the menu and what was included. She said that the biscuits were extra and my cheese grits were as well. I said that was fine and we understood those being added. However, the overall price was still wrong and it needed to be fixed. It took her two tries to finally get the bill right and reflect the correct charges. If you are going to raise the prices in your system, you really should spend the money to update your menus. And you should also train your servers on how to correct the bill when it is incorrect. We will not be going back. read more
