Warning! Eat at this restaurant at your own risk. Where is the Management oversight? Are they incompetent or do they choose to ignore industrywide safe sanitation practices for restaurants? The restaurant is dangerously filthy, with a complete disregard for safe food handling standards. Twice in one month, they served expired milk to children. The cooks rarely wear protective gloves - if ever. Employees, including managers, are constantly eating food on the line, and they seldom wash their hands. The worst Cracker Barrel in 25 years: the one in Venice. Besides it's being normally loud and too cold, we were seated close to a table of screaming kids. The restaurant had less than 10 tables occupied, so why sit us there. It took ten minutes to get water, then the waitress forgets the lemons. After finally taking our order, it took 30 minutes to get our food. Only then, she says they are out of Mayo and have no Tarter Souce for the Catfish. During the whole hour there, we were surounded by tables with dirty dishes, which were still there when we left. When I got to the cash register, I realized she had given me the wrong check. It took several minutes to finally find her to switch, of which she offered no apology. At the Cash Register, when asked if the meal was fine, I said no, it was not a good expereince but we had eaten and I wasn't looking for a discount. She insisted on calling the manager, who listened, but really didn't care, just said, Sorry. When I got home and was sending Corp a comment, I realized that I had been given another wrong check which was for more than we ate. Apparently in my fustration, I hadn't checked. My error. After sending my detailed complaint to Corp, I received a couple of computer generated "We're Sorry" and the a couple of days later, a gift card for a Free Desert, Obviously, it will be a long time before we go there again. read more

Home cooking at its best. Just off i-75 in Venice FL. The front of the restaurant has an immediate southern feel with a wooden patio and rocking chairs. They have a cool store with a ton of everything as soon as you enter the main doors. Clothing, root beer, candy, and household items too. Past the store we enter the packed restaurant with a southern vibe boasting a massive fireplace and multiple tables. We ordered a simple eggs, bacon potatoes with their signature buttermilk biscuits and thick gravy for dipping. While waiting each table has a fun peg game to play. The meal was served in about ten minutes and was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and the bathroom was very clean. read more

Went for lunch and it was busy that day. There were lot of people and we got our food after a while. They have various kinds of food and it was hard to choose because everything looked good. I got the Turkey and it was good. My friends got grilled chicken and I tried them, it was also good. I also recommend their peach tea. they have a little shop to shop around after. Visited the Venice location off of Jacaranda Blvd. Ordered the Grandma's Breakfast with Bacon - Eggs or easy - and the Hash Brown Casserole . The food was good but for some reason took a bit to come out considering the number of patrons was small (Here after 12noon). Coffee also seems a bit watery but Ok. I believe the location of the Cracker Barrel makes the difference. Still one of my favorite breakfast places but the northern locations off SR 64 and Cortez Rd seem better. read more

Food quality, quantity, and service have greatly depreciated in the last year. Gone are the familiar menu choices like country boy breakfast, Uncle Hershels, etc replaced by ala cart and cost. It's a Cracker Barrel so I didn't have high expectations. Ordered an orange juice. Never got it. Then ordered a Sweet Tea. Never got it. We were served our food with no utensils. So we sat there awkwardly staring at our food until we could flag down our server for utensils. Ordered a water and finally got that. Never once got a refill, so I had to eat my food with no beverage. Another patron at my table ordered an iced latte but got a hot latte. Pretty bad service experience all around. Warm welcome even though they were closing in 25 minutes. We offered to go elsewhere and they truly welcomed us saying it was ok. Food came out hot and fresh, Service was attentive and prompt never making us feel rushed. And we used the new QR code on the receipt to pay which is very nice. Sure, sometimes going to the counter to pay is good, but when there is a wait, it makes it so much better. Place was also clean including the restrooms. Our food was not up to Cracker Barrel standards. The fried items were dark & spongy. The chicken fried chicken was the same chicken as my husband's southern fried chicken. No difference. No gravy either. The meals come with biscuits or corn bread. We received neither. The sides were small with the exception of my super large Cole slaw. The broccoli side was raw. No drink/ water refills offered. We asked for a refill... it came as we were leaving. The servers need a lesson in how to handle glassware. Please stop putting your fingers on the glass rims. After we picked through our "meals", the table was overflowing with dirty dishes. Not one item prebussed. And, the restaurant really needs to be cleaned. This location lacks management and service. Meal portions at this location tend to be stingy and not as presentable as other stores. Even the bread portions are fewer than when you go to the other CBOCS locations. The side of breakfast ham is like $7 and it was a quarter piece of one slice. One 1/4 slice that's it and then it was dripping in grease. Awful. The server who possessed 4 stars was useless. Stopped by and asked if we were okay, we mentioned we would like a refill on our coffee. We had to ask two more times before someone else walking by with the coffee pot refilled our coffee. Then our server had the nerve to come back again and ask if we were okay. We then ask, at the end, if we could have two take-home containers. There were 3 adults in our party. She brings the containers with one bag, which she places on top of our dirty dish. Absolutely disgusting and upsetting. Bottom of the bag needed to be wiped and we haven't even used it. The pancakes were good and my mom had the trout and truly enjoyed it. The store seems a bit disorganized, doesn't offer the smooth walking areas. Arrive like 8:10pm and staff are complaining that they close at 9pm. ‍ then all 6 of us order the apples. 15 mins later Bri our waitress comes to tell us "ooops sorry we are all out.." For no reason (witnesses include waitress Gracie) he was very nasty and when I asked to speak with a manager he grew irate and refused us service. Just had Thanksgiving lunch there. Food was excellent. We got it quickly and the server was very pleasant.

Food was not terrible but service was not good. Server forgot drinks, did not get the sides right and never cleared the table.

Service was top notch, it seems like they are trying to make up for the kitchen not doing their jobs. Wife wanted to go even though my last experience with quality of food was terrible. Well they did not disappoint with the chicken broccoli this time. Took forever for it to come out they said fresh ones were being made. Definitely was not a fresh piece of chicken it was a portion controlled frozen piece with very poor quality. Broccoli was barely even cooked, took a few bites and pushed the whole dish aside. Meh. It's a Cracker Barrel. Stayed at a hotel nearby and this was the only breakfast other than fast food I could find. Disappointed they've done away with the eggs benny. They used to serve grits with every breakfast but not now. Service was fine but watch your bill. Suggested tip amount was based on the meal AND the tax. This will and did affect what I left. His mashed potato was inedible but they brought him a new order. Slightly better but still still lots of lumps. No gravy to speak of. My fried chicken breast was ok, but no gravy or sauce. Picture a big chicken finger, dry. The green beans were soggy, the coleslaw and okra were ok. My biscuit was squashed and so pale it looked raw. I would have been embarrassed to serve it. Did I mention it took half an hour to get our food. Seated right away and a very nice waitress, hence the two stars. The table next to us had dirty dishes on it the whole time we were eating.
