calamari and oysters
Kio C.

Came here for dinner and the food was amazing. Got the seafood combo with lemon pepper and mild. Mild already has a kick to it so I'm glad I didn't get anything crazier. There's a good combo of food... just weird how a clearly 2 portion meal comes with only one potato and corn lol. The sauce is on the saltier side but it's still good. I also got the fried calamari and it was soooo good. The oysters were fresh but nothing special. The service is great here -- very attentive and nice. Didn't feel like the service was slow like some of the other reviewers mentioned.

Dungeness Crab with corn and potatoes in the crackin' sauce medium hot mixed with lemon pepper sauce too.

It's Oct 17th, 2020. The boyfriend and I share a bday month. We decide to have a social-distance dinner at my moms house. They get mussels, snow crab, while the bf and I get Dungeness crab times 2. As usual it's amazing!! Getting the lemon-pepper mixed with the crackin sauce is AMAZING as usual. However, the Dungeness crab is smaller, and saltier than usual. In fact, it is like snow-crab and I'm not fond of it. I was think "I wonder what's going on?" But it's not a big deal because the up-charge is a $1 different. It's usually much more. So the company altered prices for the size crab they could get on the market. This is good business practice. Everyone loved their social distance dinner. Moms loved their muscles. We used kitchen scissors to cut thru the shell. Which is easier than the regular tools. Post-COVID I may just take scissors into the store. As usual 10/10! Happy Birthday to me and the boo!!! And thank you for being a part of it. Ps: 4lbs of seafood for less than $80. Potato's, corn, crab, and muscles. Perfection!!!

We loved it very very great place to go. Absolutely worth a time out of the night to eat.

Fried calamari

Take out one star cuz the sauce is a bit too much on the salty side. But to be honest, I do think all the seafood boil sauces I've had are a bit too salty for me as I always go for the spiciest, maybe that caused the triple shot of salt or something. I do love the spicy level of the spicy Crackin sauce though. Perfect on shrimp and scallops ( BTW, amazingly fresh). Never a huge fan for snow crab legs. However, the clams can do shorter time and is the sausage the Costco one? Love the fried calamari, crispy on the outside and soft&chewy on the inside. Got rice and bread to go with the seafood which balanced out a bit of the saltiness. This site has plenty of spacious parking. However, they've closed the Santa Fe site and I was told to follow them on Facebook to get most recent updates.

I love the seasoning they use on the crab legs! Service is timely and good. I like that it is so close to the movie theater.

Holy moly this place was incredible! Lots of thoughtful curation has gone into not only the food…read moreand it's presentation, but also the ambience and the staff. I am a mermaid at heart so of course the seashell theme was on point. I was on a solo date and the patio was a sweet place to sit outside under string lights and enjoy the views of the mountains in the background. I love to try new things so I was delighted they had an oystertini (yep you guessed it, a martini with an oyster in it!) The lions mane mushrooms were to die for. Insane flavor and texture. The salmon was cooked " medium" which I've never really had before, and it was so palatable and luxurious. Nothing worse than overcooked fish ha ha. Dominic was my server and he was especially attentive and sweet and conversational. Great energy. The rest of the staff had a similar vibe. 10 out of 10 would love to come back. One thing to note: the food is very RICH with a lot of oils, kind of like French food, so next time I wouldn't order as many heavy items (my fault not theirs !) and I would pair it with some lighter faire they offer such as one of their salads. Overall, such a treat.

Unfortunately, they didn't ask us if we had a special occasion we were celebrating, but overall the service was great. The ambiance was pretty nice and there is a back patio that has a few tables. They have a large array of oysters from the east coast and west coast. The oysters and the way they served and prepared were good. They do have raw clams also which I thought strange, but I'm probably just not fancy enough. We ordered a few appetizers including green chili hush puppies which seemed to need a little more Smokey green chili flavor and they were a bit dry. The lobster deviled eggs are sort of tart and flavorless and I didn't get any lobster on mine. My friend said the lobster rolls were good, and I had a salmon special that was out of this world delicious and cooked to perfection!! The red curry mussels were also outstanding!! Could use a bit more spice and salt, but really good. One of the kiddos didn't want raw food, but he also couldn't find much on the menu for kids. They were out of what he ordered and when they finally did get his order, his food came out about 15 minutes after the rest of the table. They did comp out appetizers so that was nice, but in my opinion they should have comped his meal since they didn't have what he wanted and then served him so much later. Their alcoholic fancy beverages were great. I had a glass of wine that was good. I would suggest offering more wines and meals from the adjacent wine bar and restaurant to Lure as well. They have a few kinks to work out, but I think they are on the right track. There is no phone so it's very difficult to make a reservation. I recommend visiting this place and trying some of their food during off hours. I'm not sure I'd recommend their appetizers yet, but with a few tweaks they will improve. Cheers!

We initially decided on this place because they offered oysters on a half shell. I figured they would be small oysters, but no, these oysters reminded me of the size of gulf oysters. The oyster dish came with all of the fixings, horseradish sauce, cocktail sauce, tabasco sauce, lemons, and crackers. I enjoyed every single bite. We ordered a seafood boil dish combo #2 that came with Dungeness Crab Legs, shrimp, clams, sausage, red potatoes, and corn in a crab house cajun sauce with heat level medium spicy. The boil came out just as I finished my last oyster. I failed to take a picture of the beautiful seafood dish before us. Plan to get messy with this place. They put down paper on the table when arriving, and they give gloves and a bib to wear. I took off all of my rings and I got busy cracking and peeling. The cajun garlic butter sauce was so flavorful. I couldn't get enough of it. I swept and dipped my seafood pieces around in it until I could scoop up enough to enjoy with every bite. Our server was attentive to our needs, and the bathroom was clean upon my visit. I didn't mind the walls and poles that were written on. It added its own character.

Wrong! They only have Gumbo soups now. I am not complaining at all, we chose a separate appetizer. We love the Oven-Baked Crab Cake with Jumbo lump crab, & lemon caper butter it was delicious. Kara was on top of all parts of service. She was attentive but not intrusive in the least. 5***** all the way. So we ordered a ton of food, and enjoyed it with the complimentary French bread & Butter. Dan had: Pappadeaux's Platter with Two fried catfish fillets, [extra] shrimp, oysters, stuffed shrimp, stuffed crab, crawfish. Dan only got through less than half. I ordered Rainbow Trout & Jumbo Crab Blackened trout, shrimp, jumbo lump crab, hazelnut brown butter, with Buttered Heirloom Grits. The pairing worked very well together. There was a slight up charge for the grits, but I am happy. The food was fresh, delicious and well balanced. The garden outside and around Pappadeaux is a relaxing and inviting. They have a water fountain on their front veranda, and it was wonderful to hear the birds in the trees. Windows give a nice view of their gardens. I believe they still may patio seating but I didn't ask about it. The waitress offered dessert and with both of us having had a substantial more food on our plate, we declined... but I admit the banana pudding was calling my name (back for a limited time she said).

Note: Today's Yelp email was about places to get a great steak, which inspired this review. Highly recommend, with thanks.
