    Caesar salad
    Amanda F.

Well, I really wanted this to be a different review. I would like to start off by saying that Jan, one of the owners, is a lovely woman. After my last experience, she offered a chance to try it again, and comp our meal. I thought it was very kind of her. We arrived at 6:30 on a Monday and were looking forward to trying it, again. It wasn't very busy, the dining room had maybe four tables filled when we arrived. I do like the ambience of the restaurant, it's cute with a sprinkling of sophistication, and reminds me a bit of Soho in NYC.. We ordered the encrusted brie and it was wonderful. The pine nuts were excellent as well as the strawberries and little crostini. There was a mixture of crackers in there as well. The brie wasn't incredibly melty like I'm used to, but it was for about a quarter inch around it and then the center was pretty solid. Still the flavor was delicious. The next course was the Caesar salads and they were wry good. My friend remarked that she loved the amount of dressing and we both found it very flavorful. Especially with a twist of lemon. The waiter ground fresh pepper over it and things were off to a wonderful start. Once the salad plates were taken from the table, the entire meal went downhill. We were ignored by the waiter. I mean, completely ignored. Several tables came in after us. They were seated and fed their full meal, paid and left. Still we waited. And then we waited some more. The table behind us ordered the lamb shank and a steak. I saw the food come out and the gentleman enjoyed the lamb shank, but the woman's steak was cooked wrong. They took it back and she waited, and waited, and waited. Then our waiter literally ran to the table to give her her steak. He still did not make eye contact with us or acknowledge our existence. Mind you, they had come in at least 40 minutes after we had. They paid their ticket and left. A table of six came in, and they all received their meals, and still, we waited. At 8:10, the waiter finally came back and acknowledged our existence. He told us that our meal was delayed, which we knew because we had seen everyone else get served before us. I let him know that we had been there for an hour and a half, and he pointed at the table of six, and said that their orders have gone ahead of ours. At 8:20, our meal finally came out. I had ordered the scallops, but requested a substitution for the side dish, because I can't eat prosciutto and melon. So I decided to give the mushroom risotto another try. I love risotto, and I really wanted theirs to be good. Our meals came, my friend had ordered the filet mignon and also a side of mushroom risotto, as well. The scallops were fine, but had been sitting too long, presumably, waiting for the steak to be done. So the scallops were cold, the risotto had turned partially gelatinous and was lukewarm. It was not worth the wait. My friend's filet mignon was too tough to cut, and except for the very center was overcooked. It was literally charcoal on the bottom, not seared like the namesake, but charred. Her mushroom risotto did not come out, so we asked the waiter if he could bring out the side that we had ordered. He apologized, and was nice about it. It was pretty much the most he'd spoken to us in over an hour. When her risotto came out, it was awesome. Because it was still hot. Great flavor, great texture, the way risotto should be. Maybe it was just another bad night. Maybe they are incredible. Maybe I just have really bad luck, choosing days. The meal was comped, and a very nice waiter from the other side with a beard and glasses, came over and apologized for our wait and listened to the concerns about the lukewarm scallops and risotto and the charcoal briquette of a filet mignon. He also seemed surprised at how badly the steak was cooked. It was a mixed bag. Some of it was incredible, some of it was not so incredible. It has a lot of potential to be amazing. And a regular spot, but unfortunately, it still didn't land., for us.

Had a great experience, especially when it came to gluten-free options--the menu was clearly marked and offered plenty of choices. Waiter was knowledgeable about cross contamination. I ordered the salmon with risotto, and it was delicious. My daughter, who also has celiac disease, had the shrimp and sausage kabobs with red potatoes, and she absolutely loved her meal. For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée, which was hands-down the highlight of the night. Seared is a solid choice for anyone looking for a gluten-free-friendly dining experience.

We had a great Friday night dinner here and enjoyed every part of the experience. We started with the spicy scallops ($22), which had a nice balance of heat and flavor. The starter salad came with a creamy blue dressing that I really liked. For my main dish, I had the duck breast ($22), which was cooked just right and paired well with the sides. My mom and sister ordered the Filet de Boeuf with Au Poivre sauce ($40) and enjoyed it very much. The staff were warm and attentive, taking the time to explain the specials and make us feel welcome. It was a wonderful meal, and I'd definitely come back.

We came to Seared after graduation. We arrived earlier than our reservation and were seated straight away. Service was outstanding as always. They were attentive to our needs throughout the meal and answered any questions we had when ordering. They never disappoint when it comes to the food. Plated beautifully and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We were looking for something a little more "upscale" in Albuquerque and this was one of the few options we found. I'm so glad that we picked it! We got there early for happy hour and found that they had some REALLY good deals on their apps! The Charcuterie Board was enough for 3-4 people and had a lot of different options. I expected the Encrusted Brie to come in a puff pastry, and was surprised that it looked to be breaded and deep-fried. However, it was delicious! Like no other brie appetizer I've ever had! The portions on the main dishes were MASSIVE! They could have cut the servings in half and it would still have been a good value. As they were, they were enough for 2-3 servings! I got the Braised Lamb Shank Pasta. The pasta itself wasn't anything special, but the lamb was beautifully tender and the sauce was excellent. Not pictured (sorry!) but by far the dish of the night was the Buffalo Short Rib. A HUGE chunk of short rib with a nice, salty sauce and the meat literally fell off the bone- it was perfectly cooked. There was also a Green Chile Risotto that I wouldn't call a risotto, but it doesn't matter because it was delicious! If you're looking for upscale food in Albuquerque and also want good value, this is the place!

Amazing!! The waiter was so nice and knowledgeable, he needs a raise! Food was great, wine was great, definitely will be back when I visit Albuquerque again

Great atmosphere, great service and great food. Don't judge a book but the cover. Go inside. Enjoy!

This is my favorite date night spot. It's always a hit never a miss, the food, service, and atmosphere are always great! My favorite is the Brie.

Ok the outside of this place is shady. You second guess yourself for a second. It however is a wonderful little restaurant. Our server was Roman and he was a delight. The food though is where the bar is high! The food was perfect.

Crispy Brussels sprouts had great flavor but way too much cayenne pepper (which adds nothing but heat) my husband ate them but said he would prefer less heat. I had 2 bites and gave up. Baked brie was amazing I loved the granny Smith apples! My husband loved them too. We also got the hummus duo which has dates on it and I used a date in the brie that was fantastic! I'll ask for that next time! It was the bomb. Hummus duo was good the watermelon radish was beautiful on the plate but gave both hummus a bitter flavor. Shrimp and grits. We live in Alabama currently and this was our least favorite dish of the day. Shrimp were cooked well and so were the grits but there was just something else it needed. Parmesan cheese and some onions maybe. Greek salad delicious. The flash fried chick peas made it. We needed more dressing and the wait staff was prompt and sweet about it. Spicy Lime Ceasar was ok till he requested more dressing then it was amazing. I was afraid of ordering it but the dressing wasn't too spicy . White sangria I had was disappointing it was more of a 1995 wine spritzer than a wine infused with citrus which is the very essence of sangria. It was ok and had I ordered a wine spritzer I would say yummo but I ordered sangria. Pork Belly flat bread was the winner of the night the tomato jam made that dish. I would love more on it next time but we will definitely be ordering that dish again! Yes we had a lot of left over food! But I love sampling a menu and this menu has a lot to offer. We will be back to try 4 or five other things. I look forward to my return.

(Except for the noise from an occasional loud vehicle that drove by!) We ordered two appetizers: Korean Chicken Bites and Parmesan Zucchini Ribbons. The chicken bites weren't our favorite. Just okay. But the zucchini ribbons with the lemon basil aioli were so good! I would go back just to order that starter again. One disappointment is that I really wanted to order the Shishito Peppers. No longer on the menu. My meal was the Pastrami Reuben with fries. I switched out the Swiss cheese for cheddar. I liked the meal, and it was enough to bring half of the sandwich home for lunch the next day. The other two ordered the Crispy Pork Belly & Tomato Jam flat bread. One liked it, the other was just okay with it. Two of us ordered sangria. It was white, which came as a surprise to us. It was less sweet than we prefer. Another in our group ordered a mocktail and quite liked it. Got a second one and I don't believe they charged for the refill. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of it. It might sound like I have too many issues to give a 4-star rating, but I stand by it. The amience was nice. The wait staff was pleasant. The menu was creative. I'll definitely go back.

I went for the classic burger. They call their fries Spudnik and they have a very interesting cut. The potato shape is like a broad, curling wedge, but these are not curly fries. And when we thought there was no space for a diner, we found where the magic takes place just around the corner, where we were welcomed and seated. People were friendly, kitchen staff were getting stuff out quickly, and our server was ok. Efficiency was a clear target for everyone and our food was on our table in no time. For food, our friends ordered the breakfast burritos (with red only and a Christmas version), , the hubs ordered the carne adobada, and I ordered the tamal plate with red and green, just like I like I like it . Everyone was pleased with their choices. The burritos were big and tasty. The carne adobada had a lot of deliciously marinated pork and the steamed potatoes were quite a good addition. The tortilla with butter was simple yet delicious, with a firm and thick tortilla. The tamal plate was almost perfect. The red and green sauces were amazing, but I was slightly partial to the spicier green chile sauce. The masa on the tamales was firm and good. If there was one change I would make, it would be for the tamales to have more filling. Overall, we had a good experience at a very unique place! We took a stroll around old town Albuquerque. And decided to look at the menu at Church St Cafe. We decided to give it a try. The hostess walked us through a door into the restaurant, which went on forever with beautiful, cozy, quaint rooms filled with people that eventually led to a beautiful patio. We were in shock when we eventually sat down by a pond with waterfall. The decor was spot on with perfect New Mexico south west style. The server, Mico, was the best. Their red, green, and regular salsas were wonderful. We ordered a top shelf margarita and a spicy margarita. My top shelf margarita was the WORST margarita i have ever tasted. It cost $20.00 for a small gross tasting sweet margarita mix with no hint of resposado tequila or other ingredients that make it a top shelf drink. Mico was sweet and took it off our bill. She was curious and asked about why I told her it was the worst. I asked if the margarita had agave, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, lime juice, resposado tequila. (I add a little OJ and pineapple juice) Church st cafe has a license to only carry New Mexico brands of liquor. They do not have the ingredients to make a Top Shelf/ Cadillac Margarita. I wish we Wouid have know. I Wouid not have ordered a cocktail. Proper expectations make the experience better. The manager, Marie, spoke with us. She was very nice. She explained how they make it and their restraints with their liquor license. This cocktail could be made better and the price dropped. But after listening to Marie, it seems that "it is what it is" and will not be fixed. I hope they do try to make a better margarita to match the beauty of the space. We have not lived in New Mexico for five years, so every time we visit, our #1 priority is to enjoy real New Mexican food. Church Street Cafe scores 5/5 for atmosphere: beautiful space, traditional decorations, adobe walls, both indoor and shady outdoor seating. I recommend sitting outside if weather permits. The food is 4/5 for me, the enchiladas and Indian taco being our favorites. They have one of my favorite menus for their variety. The service was abysmal, we guess because our young niece complained loudly about being given a cup of water the minute she sat down. She wanted *juice*. Sorry, man, kids are rude sometimes. He mom corrected her, told her that it was nice of the waiter to bring her water in case she was thirsty, that she should be grateful and could also order something else to drink. But the damage was done, and the waiter was extremely rude the entire time. "What do you recommend?" was answered with "Whatever you want." We asked if we could have an Indian taco that was not burned, and he scowled, "What's wrong with it?" Then he disappeared and made us wait a loooong while before bringing the check. Kids can be jerks, but an adult male does not have to stoop to their level AT WORK. Overall a great choice for tourists and New Mexican food enthusiasts, so long as you are not in a hurry.
