Came here for lunch with my family and had a pretty good experience. We started with the garlic bread and oysters, both of which were delicious. I ordered the wild-caught grouper -- it was flaky, cooked well, and the seasoning was decent. My partner got the Salmon Alexander, which was also pretty good. My aunt ordered the oven-roasted sea bass, and we all agreed it was the best dish at the table. The fish was incredibly tender and the sauce complemented it perfectly. Just a heads up: it took about 20 minutes for our food to come out, so keep that in mind if you're in a rush. Is it the best seafood I've ever had? Albuquerque isn't known for its great seafood restaurants. Having lived in the east and west coasts with access to fabulous fresh seafood my bar is high. But Pappadeaux here in Albuquerque is a consistent go to when the seafood itch hits. Started with a dozen fresh oysters to share and they were excellent. Served with three different sauces, all great. Fresh bread and butter accompanied the meal. Our three main courses were the Blackened Catfish with red beans and rice, the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas served with oysters, shrimp, lump crab meat and dirty rice and the Redfish Ponchartrain served with lump crab and shrimp and dirty rice. Recently went here to celebrate my birthday the customer service was amazing. I had a really nice gentleman as our waiter very attentive. It wasn't very busy inside which was nice and not very common in there. I ordered SEAFOOD TAGLIATELLE PASTA which was amazing. I have a shrimp allergy and they did an amazing job at making sure nothing touched shrimp. The octopus was so delicious in my pasta buttery and melted in my mouth. Our first time here ! Let me say we felt soo welcomed very fancy clean place... our server Jessica was very attentive and super nice ! We started off with gator bites.. now if you've never tried gator "like me" don't let it scare you it was actually pretty delicious! They made sure to be very careful with my friends plate whom is allergic to shrimp I believe it was the manager who came to ask us a few things about the allergy concern and assured us they would take precautions on preparing his dish.. I love coming here when I get to this part of the city. A great way to stsrt is with the fried calamari and octopus or oysters. The crawfish platter, with fried crawfish and crawfish etouffe is my favorite meal. The warm bread is delicious and I have to remind myself to stop eating so much of it. Their coffee is wonderful. We are chaplains and after visiting our favorite resident from a nursing home that we visit weekly we decided to eat here for our 33 year anniversary. We decided to try the roasted oysters. I am not usually an oyster fan but after talking with the waitress we decided to take the plunge and order them. Oh my goodness, they were amazing. I wish they sold them by the dozen instead of just 6, they were that delicious. Full of flavor, cooked perfectly and so delicious. I ordered the grouper with crab and shrimp. This dish reminded me of being back in Florida. I ate so much Grouper when we visited there. It was nice to see it on the menu. It was flaky but meaty and delicious. The butter sauce added a nice flavor to the grouper. The shrimp were large and flavorful and the crab was moist and very tasty. My husband order the fried seafood platter. It had fried catfish, oysters, crawfish, stuffed shrimp and stuffed crab. They give large portions of fries to go with it all. The fried oysters were out of this world. Food came out cold. Went here with my fam for a birthday dinner. The food took forever to come out. There were only about 3 servers in the entire restaurant that night, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it was really swamped . Payed over 300$ for a table of 4. No alcohol. Ate at Pappadeaux's tonight--they actually have a pretty good selection of gluten-free options. After I ordered, the manager came over to ask if I was gluten-free by preference or due to an allergy. When I told him it was an allergy, he reassured me that they would take the proper precautions with my meal. I had the Jumbo Shrimp Brochette, and for dessert, we shared the crème brûlée. We had our 35 anniversary dinner. We received a free dessert for our first time visiting this location but nothing acknowledging our anniversary. Not a big deal we enjoyed the dessert. Bread was great. Main course was my issue. I ordered the filet Oscar style. First time I have ever had it served with green onions. I'm sure they would have done something if I had complained but I didn't want to complain. When he asked how the food was, my wife said fine I did t look up and he left. The steak was cooked a bit unevenly which is fairly standard. It was good with one issue. One end was fatty. Never had a filet I could not complete at a restaurant. First time for everything. Had to spit out a chunk then tried to surgically free up some meet before giving up in one area. Crab was difficult to find. I had higher expectations which is why I gave three stars. He announced exactly what he was going to do for us. One in particular was. Bread crumbs. He said let me do a little house cleaning here. Moved a couple of glasses and proceeded to wipe bread crumbs from the table. Then let me fill your drink, let me take this empty dish on and on. Also while serving a larger table of 6 or 8. He would be the comedian. When he laughed the whole restaurant could hear him. He was a good waiter in that we were well taken care of but he was obnoxious in his let me do this or that and interacting with other customers. He was exceptionally loud. I did tip him well but I would never let this ass wait on me again. The kitchen got my friends steak wrong. No complains on our part just asked for a refire. Next thing we know. The manager comes to our table apologizing. Offered our choice of desserts for the kitchen mistake. We accepted with hessitance knowing we could not eat them there. I would have had the best experience not for the top wrangling waiter letting me know her was going to do this or that for me. As a Chef, well versed in restaurant etiquette. Do your job and do it so well that the customer wants to tip you . Don't bother a diner while trying to enjoy their diner by telling them everything you are doing for them. Do it and do it without interrupting their dinner. Be invisible. Get your job done well without being a nuisance. I spent 189.00 in there just for our meal. Not including his tip. If I have to have him again. I'll leave. I really don't need a play by play from these people. Just do your job quietly and be invisible but available if needed. I truly loved my dinner, very much did not like my waiter. He was obnoxious and hos very loud laugh made me want to leave. Not once did he laugh this way but several times. Get this idiot out of your restaurant. He is a one man floor show who drives you crazy bucking for a good tip. I'd pay just to have him leave us alone. I can assure. Loved our NYE dinner there. I posted some pictures from our previous dinner too and am always happy with the food. Our server was great even on NYE when they were totally slammed. Another big disappointment in the Pappadeaux menu changes. First they dropped their (cheesy) grits at lunch time. That was sad enough, but today I found out THEY NO LONGER HAVE THE SAME GATOR BITES. They used to come fried or blackened with remoulade sauce, which we always greatly enjoyed. Now they only have some abomination called Hot Honey gator bites with Tabasco mash, pickles, & peanuts. Why would they do such a thing? Don't mess with what works ! Management, please correct this egregious error! The changes are making us think twice about our regular visits. Very nice and quaint restaurant. Prices feel like they're a bit much, but the portions are pretty large - so it evens out. Steve was our waiter. Very on top of his game, kept the water glasses full and table wiped down without feeling like he was hovering, but was there every time we needed him to be The sauce on the Mardi Gras Tilapia is absolutely delicious. Attended a Financial Planning dinner tonight. Dinner was complimentary. Salmon dinner came with Spinach and a couple pieces of shrimp. That's it! Wife want the Prime Rib but can only be cooked "medium." So that was a zero for her. p I took the seafood platter. Catfish was under cooked and did not eat. Showed up around 11:30 AM. I've been taking my mom around to run some errands. She was craving this place since before my dad died. Very professional host who look like he belonged down at Vernon's. Spectacular waitress, Melanie. Made some great recommendations. Even though she got a little busy with the lunch hour, the food came out great, their coffee is delicious, awesome Arnold Palmer, and I hadn't had the new garlic bread as an appetizer yet so this was quite good. Nice to see that some restaurants still care about quality. I like how all of the wait staff queue up by the coffee pot, constantly scanning the floor, waiting for their orders to get ready in the kitchen, and then tactically delivering food and incredible service. We were a party of 12 and made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my father's birthday. Making the reservation was with ease and we're able to be seated a few min early when we arrived. Hostess was friendly and our waiter was beyond great! Although there was a bit of a mix up with our food the manager immediately came over, apologized and fixed the situation. The food was absolutely tasty and delicious. The bread served was hot and fresh. I had the shrimp gumbo and got to try the pasta maradi gras my sister ordered and omg! Seasoned well and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. A group of my friends and I take each other to dinner when one of us has a birthday. The birthday gal chooses the restaurant. Our tastes are varied and one of us is a vegetarian. Pappadeaux's was the last birthday choice. Went on Thursday. We got in easily. They do take reservations. It had been years since I had been there and didn't realize that they did. Mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday when we were being seated. Service was terrific. Cameron was solicitous in finding out our likes answering questions and making menu suggestions. Especially good with our vegan. She is tough to please. She came up with a delicious pasta idea with shrimp on the side. The three of us enjoyed the shrimp. Grilled octopus to die for soft shelled crab was thumbs up, good red beans and rice and the garlic bread was some of the best I ever ate. When it came to dessert, our birthday got to make the choice. We shared the brownie. All the desserts are generous in portion. Because it was her birthday it was free. The menu selections aren't cheap but it's New Mexico and seafood. This review is based on one experience for five people for happy hour in the bar area. I have to admit I do love pappadeaux. This was my first time at the Albuquerque location. I love that the footprint of the restaurant and the decor is pretty uniform across the business. So there are only a few booths for five people in the bar area and if you want to get happy hour prices for smaller portions you have to either sit in the few booths that are available or at the bar. The five of us decided to sit at the bar. I was happy to see the menu online for happy hour. The beer selections are limited but I did find something to drink. I got the mini shrimp and grits and it was delicious. One person ordered a main entree. We had a mixed selection of foods and drinks and even desserts. I don't usually take pictures of photos but I had to take a picture of the pecan sweet potato pie which I'm going to try to post. I definitely want to go back and try more items. I have to admit that I was surprised at the price increases on entrees on their menu. I think they used to be more affordable and they've gotten pretty expensive. Wow, food was VERY good! Mom was in town for Balloon Fiesta and treated the bf and me to dinner. I got the trout and brocollini. The crab that was on top was incredibly tasty. My bf got the crawfish trip, it was also really good, but a lot of crawfish, obviously! I ordered the Filet Mignon Oscar (fresh crabmeat on top w sauce) and it came w a baked potato and fresh spinach for about $53. Every bite was delicious. My filet was cooked perfectly at Med-rare. My potato was fully loaded as I'd asked for. My partner ordered the fresh Trout fillet with a sauce and grilled shrimp w fresh green beans almandine which he really enjoyed. Then came my FREE birthday desert to choose from. I was so full by then that I ordered a Creme Brûlée to take home and our waiter made sure I had a candle w it to make a Birthday wish. The Brûlée came w fresh fruit and whipped cream. Yummy! The place was full and very busy. It was well staffed and we had perfect service so they made our dinner very enjoyable.
